As the title states, how can you tell who said thanks besides the thanks showing "This person said thanks"
Is there a stat or chart or tally in your profile? I can't see it.
Bugged me for a while, thought i'd ask, hope this is the right place for it

The only way to see that is through the "this person said thanks" .
But it could be a new feature , if you ask for it here :

Strange that it doesn't exist after all this time..
I just notice now and again my thanks meter increasing and I sometimes would like to return the favour or at the least know who it was and I can never find out unless I retrace posts.
But thanks I'll look Into it.

The only thing you can do is go to your profile, click find all thanked posts, and visit each post that was thanked. Then under that post, click the view who thanked this post or expand, depending on which theme you are using. In Chrome mobile on the 2015 theme, you must switch to desktop view before you can view the thanks.
Hope this helps!

Depends on whether you're viewing the forum in a browser or in an app.
When viewing in a browser, veiwing who thanked you might depend on which XDA theme you're using.
When viewing in an app, it depends on which app you're using.
I use Tapatalk app, when someone thanks me, it puts a heart with a number below my post, the number represents how many thanks that post has received, if I tap the heart symbol, it shows me who thanked me.
When I view the forum in a browser, below my posts, it says "the following users thanked this post", if I tap that, it shows who thanked the post and the date they thanked it.

PS: I wasn't referring to the Thanked by button, I was referring to the history of thanks.
Sometimes you may be in several threads all at once and your thanks meter will raise, and without going through the posts you wouldn't know. It's in stats tho.
Not sure you can see it on an app

Wasn't there a thread created a few years ago by a member here that had a description of how to do various things at XDA and was made a sticky thread? Things like how to use the search feature, how to create signatures, how to use bb code here and such? If I remember correctly, didn't you have it linked in your signature at one point? I'm thinking that user also created another thread with information about how to use the member profile page and its options?

Just for being cheeky you deserve this!!!
Evidently you have a problem with your eyes, or a problem reading, I noticed you joined in march anf you have a post count of 4, and you have made 4 posts here.
so the only thing i can deduce from that is that you are one of the trolls that strips this site of everything you can get your hands on for free and makes ABSOLUTELY no contribution at all.
It is also evident with this post you cannot be bothered to do F**K all for your self, including using google:

Can someone explain (or point me to the link) what it is and how it works?
Is it to GIVE thanks? or to RECEIVE thanks?

When you are signed in to the site, through a computer, you will see a thanks button on the bottom right of each post. You click on it if you think the person has helped you to GIVE thanks always a give.
Errrrr no.....! I have no thanks button visible and never have. Which is probably why the OP mentioned it.
I've always wondered why other people mentioned a button that i clearly don't have
EDIT: Mystery solved. I just tried the new look forum and there is indeed a Thanks button. It's obviously not a feature of the 'XDA Classic' style. I'll just have to thank people the old fashioned way!
You need to be using the XDA2010 theme.
That can be changed from a little drop box on the bottom left corner : )
Hope that helps.
Please let me know when you resolve the issue, will bolt the thread

Yup. I've never seen the thanks button either. It must be affecting more people than thought, because some of the threads reach ridiculous sizes from people just saying "thanks!!!11!1!!!".
Does a user need to have a minimum number of posts or something?

Hi,
To post in the forums, where I can ask for and give help, I need to have posted at least 10 times. I cannot even thank TRusselo who wrote the Newbie guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1041206
I could consider this one of the 10, but this is just creating a mess in the CMS for this site.
Or is there a forum where I can do a quick post 10 times, which a moderator will purge monthly

It's to weed out helpful people.
If they're helpful, they leave before they get 10 posts.

Aah, your timezone is set wrongly. XDA does not yet know which timezone you are in.
At the top of this page, to the left of "Welcome squallrblade", click on User CP.
On the left, select "Edit options", under "Settings and Options". Halfway down, set your timezone.
Why you are 4 mins off, I have no idea. Either the server or your wall clock is off.

The pointless threads will never end. And questions in General will never end. You would thinking checking Yes to "Is this a question?" and seeing the [Q] appear in the title would light a bulb in their heads telling them they should be posting in Q&A. But then again, you would also think that checkbox would automatically post it in Q&A.

Look, this is an apology to everyone about a post I submitted yesterday, but I am NOT sorry for what I was trying to say, I login to get information on different things, and in order to even get where you want to go, you have to sift thru the same stuff over and over, like today, 5 threads started with the same info I saw on tech news sites everywhere, so the google phone is going to be released, what in the heck does it have to be here, in this forum in 5 threads, I am looking for fixes not tech news. Again, an apology was in order. This post is to all that are here for the same purpose I am, to try different things out on our phones, can't we at least stay on that subject?
Lets move on please.

And there will be alot of them, coming very soon, and the search option can be at times for new people a nightmare. We are going to be in trouble, or the moderators are going to be super busy with the volume that is fixing to flood this site.

That was removed because the report system was changed. But on the XDA App tap the message, hit more, hit open in Browser and you can then hit the triangle to report a post.
When you see redundant threads please report it and in the report link to the first or in the redundant thread to make it easier to close and redirect these useless threads.

You will have less to worry about because there will only be 10 people there to follow the rules.
The real reason that there are useless threads is because there are so many people checking in here. Most aren't your normal XDA member. Most just bought the phone and want to hang out somewhere to talk about it. They have no idea that the phone black clips, lags, or has a locked bootloader. They read threads, find problems that they weren't aware of and then ask questions.
These people also keep the numbers up and view the advertising that XDA needs to survive. So its not all one sided.

Strange. These are stupid rules, because they make people post as many stupid things as possible. They want to avoid spam by generating even more spam. Genius. But I hardly get any answer on my questions.
First of all,, the rule is already said that you must have at least 8 posts before you can modify your signature... but do not post junk just to raise your post counts... and if you did that, moderator will see your posts were junk and will postponed your right to modify your signature...
furthermore, go here http://www.xda-developers.com/contact/#webmaster , to the webmaster section, and report your problem.. you will get a private message directly from the admin moderator. And if you have a strong reason, you could get your right to modify signature right away...
good luck...

No wonder I couldn't input a signature. The 10 post minimum rule sucks when I was trying to post some findings in a developer thread. I don't want to go around spamming the forums though...
This whole signature stuff is a big joke. I have a new smartphone and want to change my signature but am not able to (214 posts). Can remember some years ago I got a direct link somewhere for changing signature but why isn't it just possible in your profile??
Edit : OMG it's under settings..... ?
