Can't change my forum signature – again - General Questions and Answers

Once I was able to change my signature, but now I'm not. Is there an additional rule to the initial 8 or 10 posts when you were not active for a while?

Strange. These are stupid rules, because they make people post as many stupid things as possible. They want to avoid spam by generating even more spam. Genius. But I hardly get any answer on my questions.

First of all,, the rule is already said that you must have at least 8 posts before you can modify your signature... but do not post junk just to raise your post counts... and if you did that, moderator will see your posts were junk and will postponed your right to modify your signature...
furthermore, go here http://www.xda-developers.com/contact/#webmaster , to the webmaster section, and report your problem.. you will get a private message directly from the admin moderator. And if you have a strong reason, you could get your right to modify signature right away...
good luck...

I wanted to, but I couldn't find the thanks button. Now it's done.
I could change the signature. There is no link from the signature at my profile to the control panel, where you can actually change it. Everything else you can change in your profile. :silly:

No wonder I couldn't input a signature. The 10 post minimum rule sucks when I was trying to post some findings in a developer thread. I don't want to go around spamming the forums though...

This whole signature stuff is a big joke. I have a new smartphone and want to change my signature but am not able to (214 posts). Can remember some years ago I got a direct link somewhere for changing signature but why isn't it just possible in your profile??
Edit : OMG it's under settings..... ?

Guess I'll be waiting a while. I'm not talkative enough.

I've been wondering the same thing!

[Q] extreme noob question, how do i get to classifieds?

i don't know if i keep missing it or i just can't find it
can anyone guide me to it? thank you in advance!
I believe you need a minimum number of posts to unlock the market. Not sure how many though.
Marketplace rules found in the main rule (top right hand button) but also linked here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/announcement.php?a=81
Minimum of 8 posts required.

thank you. I've been using XDA for at least a 2 years now, but never really post because there are always SO MANY people making unnecessary comments in informative threads that I don't want to add to the page counts
Not to bump an old thread (though it shows I searched lol), but I've got more than 8 posts, but still don't see the marketplace. Does it take a while to update?

Do not, bump a year old post, try getting to 30 posts and see if it works, if not pm a mod.

The MP rules were amended last year to a minimum of 50 posts and being a member for a year (read rule number 1 in the link above )

Agreed. Sometimes they'll post a one word comment, like "Cool!", and their signature block will be half a mile long.
When I try logging in with my XDA credentials, I keep getting told I will receive an email....yet nothing comes through.
Works well guys!

Why do I have to create 10 dummy posts, before I post really?

Hi,
To post in the forums, where I can ask for and give help, I need to have posted at least 10 times. I cannot even thank TRusselo who wrote the Newbie guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1041206
I could consider this one of the 10, but this is just creating a mess in the CMS for this site.
Or is there a forum where I can do a quick post 10 times, which a moderator will purge monthly

It's to weed out helpful people.
If they're helpful, they leave before they get 10 posts.

Aah, your timezone is set wrongly. XDA does not yet know which timezone you are in.
At the top of this page, to the left of "Welcome squallrblade", click on User CP.
On the left, select "Edit options", under "Settings and Options". Halfway down, set your timezone.
Why you are 4 mins off, I have no idea. Either the server or your wall clock is off.

Most of my questions are related to AmericanAndroid, but I can't post them there... until I reach the 10 posts limit... Maybe we can use this thread to upgrade our posts limit...

Yes, and that way, the thread can be deleted without a thought later
If we are going to do that, might as well as use it as a sandbox, to learn formatting, etc.
Whos helpful? Yeah. It's annoying. I need a few more myself.
I'm such a forum geek too. If you added up my posts from everywhere I post it's over 25,000 and they started in the 1990's.
I hit the magic 10 and still cant post in the Litening Rom 2.2 forum?

Oh dear. I just reviewed a forum I had been a member of for about 2 and a half years and I racked up around 14000 posts.
bacause you are n00b. just like the vid in reg page. same same like me here. need gaining post
and then you will get
1. To prevent spam to the forums, new users must wait five minutes between posts. All new user accounts will be verified by moderators before this restriction is removed.
9 post means 9 times 5 equal 45min more or less
congrats

Why can't I post

When I am on the xda app and when I go to post to reply on a topic it says the server thing then proccessing but it keeps me at that screen and doesn't post
checked the form rules,I must reply first.
you need to have 10 posts before you can post in every section on xda, right now you are allowed to post things in Q/A
i had the same problem, i couldnt even post in q/a, also i couldnt edit my profile at all, so i had to make a new user, but does anyone know why it was like that?

XDA Forum Rules Dumb
I try to post an answer to some guy's question in the S3 Original Development form... but it won't let me... I've been going through these forums for 2 years, and have been a developer (not android specifically) for 15 years, and finally decide to help someone out and they won't let me until i post 10 questions? SO what now, just make up 10 BS questions?
Ugh... i guess this counts as 1?

That means you have 9 to go, and we expect quality, contributory posts, not spam. That's not to suggest that you personally would do that, but I deal with "10-post spammers" almost every single day.

Exactly... We'll I think the 10 post limit (in area's i'm not interested in posting to) is forcing me to post spam... I get that you want people making quality posts, but it feels like this method forces spam posting... my other post was quality, genuinely helping another user on my provider...

[Q] [ASK] how to make signature

greeting guys
i'm new in here
and i wanna ask u all
how to make signature in my post?
-thanks
This question is so dumb, no one should answer but give clues.
Dude, most apps have an option area, use it and you'll find it. (Settings) .
If you don't know how to find settings. Go into town and trade your phone for a windows phone.
If ur on a computer go to quick links then edit sig

No need to be rude.
Anyway, go here...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/usercp.php
and look for "Edit Signature" in the left menu. You may not have it yet as I think it only appears after a certain number of posts (maybe 8-10). Not sure about that as it's been a while
