Tingling vibration while charging honor View 10 - Honor View 10 Questions & Answers

When I charge my phone, I experience a tingling vibration when a slide across the sides or the back of the phone. Is there any issue with the phone or an issue with the charger? I have also tried it with different sockets. Still the same issue.

No, we don't have any such issue which charger do you use?
please use default charger

Yes I have the same issue, BTW I use the default charger for my device.

View 10 is not the only device with it.. It happens with many.. Many.. Type C phones..
Its nothing to worry about just add a cover

Yup, i noticed that, it feels like electricity actually going to around the device body also

'Shocking Sensation" Low current running through backcover while charging

My sensation has a low voltage current running through the cover while charging. When holding the device while plugged in you get "shocked" (its better described as a tingly feeling). I did not have this problem before but i first noticed it after i got my sensation fixed by Vodafone. I send it in for repair and i don't know wat the exact problem was but they replaced the whole motherboard.
Does anyone have or had the same problem or have any ideas what i could do about it because i don't really want to sent it in again after last time when i had to go without my phone for 3 weeks.
Charger is probably defective. AC current should never get to the phone, but is coming in thru the ground in the charge cable.

or as the antennas are in the back cover this could be another issue?
I have the same issue when I charge the phone with a 3rd party dock. I can't remember having the issue with the AC charger. I'm going to test this tomorrow. However, I don't see this as a problem.
I dont think it is the charger because it also accurs when charging via my usb port on my laptop with a different cable. Its just so weird lol.
Maybe it is indeed the antennas. I will try with a backcover of the sensation of a friend of mine, when i have the chance, to see what happens. It is not really a big problem but i'm worried this will lead to other problems.
I also facing the same problem since beginning of buying this sensation. I'm using the stock charger that come with the phone. I think this is normal. Its happen to all my phone before (HD2, Desire, DHD and now sensation).
No others side effect happen from this tingly feeling to the phone.
Stock psu provides 5V DC.
One suggested solution is carefully bend up the silver contact on the back of the phone.

yes bending the contacts works, and you're good with soldering iron try putting some solder on the housing itself to give full contact to the back housing. works for me and there's a thread on this (with pictures too) try a search for that thread

I get it too charging via USB. Its like a static shock in the wintertime when you scuff your shoes on carpet and touch a doorknob.

This issue may be due to it being repaired, I mean everyone has an off day and makes a mistake. But also you are not the first person that has posted noticing the tingling sensation you get when you are charging your Sensation either. So who knows this could be yet another small problem us users are finding with the device, I have not passed judgment yet.

This is highly unlikely, most standard USB wall chargers do not have a ground prong to connect to insert into the ground terminal of a wall receptical. Also a USB cable only has two wires for power transfer. Meaning one is for the positive and one for the negative to complete the circuit. Not to mention if this was the cause the OP would not be complaining about getting a tingle, but of constantly having to re trip a breacker or replace a blown fuzz.
I don't get shocked if I touch the phone while it's charging but if I touch it with the dorsal side of my finger/hand there is a slight buzzing feeling, like a high frequency, low amplitude vibration. This only happens if I touch it with only one hand/finger. If there are more contact points, the buzzing feeling disappears. So when I pick up the phone the buzzing disappears.

[Q] Need Replacement Charging Port

The tablet needs a new charging/interface port and was wondering if anyone knows where I can get one?
I have searched Ebay and the net for a used/new one. The port looks fine but when plugging the cable in it won't charge. Sometimes I can get it to if I push and hold it just right however this is tricky to do and does not work often. So right now it is a dead brick. The pins must not be making full contact for some reason.
Ive bought parts from these guys before, I don't see a charging port but might be worth giving them an email and asking

Thanks but I would rather not have to order parts from Sweden. If I have to I'll just keep watching Ebay. Every so often one pops up but doesn't last very long.
Good luck
The parts I ordered took about 4-6 weeks to arrive iirc
Just installed a new (used off Ebay) charging port with fingers crossed that it will allow the tablet to charge. I also have a new high quality charging cord (PWR+) and two ASUS wall chargers that I know work. Plugged the tablet in and was relieved to see the tablet come right on and show it charging. Let it charge to about 20% and then decided to unplug it so I could put the ring back on the tablet so it is all back together. Get the ring on and plug the tablet back in and nothing. I'm about to throw this thing in the trash right now. So fed up with these charging issues. What changed? All I did was unplug it, put the ring on, and plug back in.
So for kicks I decide to try the other wall charger and what do you know....it came on immediately and started charging and is still charging. I'm afraid to touch the thing now. Seems once it is charging and undisturbed it will charge to 100% no problem. However, when going to recharge it won't charge. Could there be something in the charging mechanism causing the thermal to trip in the wall chargers? Is there possibly a small short somewhere in the charging mechanism? Anyone have an opinion on why this is happening? Only other thing I can think of is doing a full wipe/reset and maybe flashing another rom (is currently on newest Android Revolution HD) once it is charged up.
Could the ring (I assume you mean Bezel ? ) or the screws near the port be shorting the charging port to earth/ground/chassis ?

Yep.. Sry.. The bezel. Not sure how but anything is possible. Would indicate to me a faulty charging port or charger cord and is happening on multiple. Tablet is still allowing me to charge it at this time after switching chargers and with the bezel on so will have to see how it goes.
Sent from my tricked out S4.
Fingers crossed it was a coincidence with the first charger, if not, I'd try taking the bezel off again and see if you can spot the short / see if it works again with the bezel off, or even just with the screws out

[Q] Would wireless qi mod be possible?

So I noticed the wireless QI receivers have started becoming literally paper thin lately.
And with this girls teardown, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dweww9_RF2E#t=224
I think it looks like you could remove the thin plastic over the battery, and fit a QI receiver there.
Thoughts?

we wouldn't be able to remove that plastic piece because it hold the battery, but it is stil possible. i already did recon on some places to solder in a wireless charger.

Curious, but I'm looking at the flat cable that just lies there, under the M-logo. It doesn't appear to have any PCB at the end?
I wonder if they were thinking about adding a QI coil there, but decided it was too expensive?

That's my theory since the nexus 6 has wireless and they are the same chassis essentially . or it was for a fingerprint scanner they abandoned. Once we see a nexus 6 teardown we will have a better idea if we can do it.

Could have sworn I read somewhere that between they cable and a teardown of the software showing code for a fingerprint scanner, the original idea was to have the scanner. I could be wrong though.

Let's hope you're wrong then.
It would be really cool to have wireless charging, shame so few manufacturers add this.
The amount of stuff needed to make the coils on the receiving end is pretty limited, I could absolutely accept buying the transmitter separately, (like the turbo charger is now)
But I suspect the patent royalties are expensive, patents sure don't benefit users..

Looks like the nexus 6 has a different config then the moto x so as far as a plug and play solution, no. I have located 2 contact locations where we could solder in a qi coil. I'm just trying to work up the courage to try it lol
Here is a related question: without modding the phone itself on the 2013 and 2014 model I cant get one of the QI receivers to work. This is the one for sale on eBay / amazon / newegg with a micro usb end to plug into the micro usb port. It literally works with every other micro usb device i own including a Samsung bluetooth headset, several phones and some other stuff i cant think of at the moment... On the moto x 2013 and 14 I literally see no charge and see it actively loose charge over time with this device plugged in.
It may be tricky with the moto x. There are some negative and some positive reviews here for example: http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/cr/B00MN3RR7Q/s=sd/ref=mw_dp_cr
There are also some reviews saying they needed to restart the device once while on the charger: http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/review/B00H7FJX7M/R2YPDLOU1BD4QE/ref=mw_dp_cr?cursor=2&sort=rd
You can find more of those comments on the internet. Could you try that, and if it works clarify if you need to restart it every time you want to charge or every time you connect something else?
Here is another link for the original moto x: http://www.reddit.com/r/MotoX/comments/2gskxw/original_moto_x_wireless_charging_mod_qi/
Edit: you may need a screen lock, e.g. the pattern lock.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2596469
An unrooted Moto G needs to be screen locked (I use the pattern lock type) or it will refuse to charge due to the missing pins. You can unlock the screen while it is charging as long as you don't lift it from the qi charger. (tested on 4.3 and 4.4.2, DE and FR firmware)

Well chaps, bad news. I don't think this is going to be possible. I spent 6 hours today trying various solder points. Couldn't get any of them to actually charge the battery. Seems to be some sort of system configuration thats interfering with how its detecting .

Did you look at /sys/module/msm_otg/parameters/floated_charger_enable? It might not be enabled. Here's a similar thread for the Moto G:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2688276 (see the update at the top)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2601628 (thread for the app, not sure it works on X2 but you can check manually through ADB for the above /sys path).
As far as I know, wireless charging won't work without a pattern lock or having that option set. My Moto X won't be here until next week so I can't do any testing until then.

I tried pattern lock, didn't help. Wireless charging does not require a lock, my girlfriend has a droid maxx and wireless works without it.
As far as the module check, I don't have root on Verizon so I wouldn't be able to test it.

You are correct about wireless charging in general. I think the reason the pattern lock is suggested is because the wireless mod (even without internally mounting it) only provides 2 wires on the USB connector. Something about only having 2 wires, and not the data pins, is why the locking is suggested.
No worries on the module, just something I had seen while investigating. I don't know if the Maxx supported wireless charging out of the box, but it may have the flag enabled by default (that flag seems common among many Moto devices).
I'm coming from a Nexus 5 and I'll really miss wireless charging, hence my questions to you

The Maxx has it built in from moto, same internals as the moto x essentially. If we get root I could look at the module thing. I was lucky that I had access to a spare moto x main board so I didn't have to solder on mine. That won't be the case in the future.
I'm going to post all the points I tried so maybe someone can figure this out. I was able to get it to show charging but only right after reboot and it would stop once I took it off and replaced it. I have to emphasize it showed charging but never actually charged the battery, it would show charging in battery stats bit not in the status bar. I also use battery monitor widget to check the current and it never showed positive charge current. Once I was able to get it to details at as a USB charge, only happened once, still didn't charge though.
This all makes me think there is something screwy going on.

I ordered a Pure Edition (Cyber Monday deal was a great one) so if nothing else I'll have root to poke around. Pictures of where you tried would definitely be helpful. I think I saw some from you in another thread, but all in one place would make searching easier
A 5V near the USB port would be ideal because then we'd know its likely feeding into the battery or charge circuit. 5V elsewhere on the board may not be wired to the battery. Looking at the photos in that Moto G thread may give you an idea on where to poke around with a multimeter.
The charging after a reboot, and until you picked it up, sounds like maybe you did have it at one point. That whole "until you pick it up" is another thing mentioned by many in those Moto G threads.
What wireless charging receiver did you use (not your base station)? The one I ordered says "up to 1000mAh" but I had seen some at 500 or 650. A lower output rating may not be enough to charge the battery at all. One way to test this would be a very low output wall charger (one that puts out 500mAh for example) and see if the X shows charging when connected to that.
On a related note, how hard is it to disassemble the X? Some of the teardowns look like it could be a pain.

i've attache da picture of the points i used and the results are as follows.
1. shows 5v when plugged in. when wireless coil is attached to it, will power the phone up without the battery connected (doesn't boot, just shows a battery on screen)
2. pretty much exactly the same as spot 1
3. shows 5volts but doesn't power the phone
4. shows 5v but doesn't power the phone
5. you can't see it in the picture because the rubber cover for the usb port is on but there is a diode right behind the usb port. this one is the only port i was able to get it to say usb charging ONCE. other then that, acts the same as 1 and 2.
again i have to emphasize that even though they show charging initially, they never actually charge the battery.
I'm using a galaxy s3 qi insert 700ma. i think there is a mislabeling on some qi pads saying 1000ma but not considering the 30% loss in inductive charging. even ones with 1000 on them tend to charge around 650ma. some label including the loss.
As far as teardown it's not too complicated to get the back off, lots of adhesive so be careful to not bend the back cover. i have leather so that was a particular hassle as i didn't want creases in the leather. after that there are 17 screws to remove. i've included a picture of the ones you need to remove. the ones around the silver ring on the "moto" logo don't need to be removed along with the silver screw for the buttons.
after you remove the screws and disconnect the buttons and battery from the board the back battery plate comes off in one piece. one of the particularly hard parts about testing points is you can't turn the phone on because the power button is part of the battery plate. also when you put the battery plate back on and you have wires running to contact points it won't fit because there is a speaker "box" that sections off that circuitry. i combated this by using copper tape to essentially make my own tiny custom circuit pathways leading out of that box where i then could attach wires and run them up through the hole that the battery connector goes.
THIS IS NOT FOR THE FAINT OF HEART!
i'm going to write up a tear down guide for this phone. what section do you guys think i should post it in?

Wireless charging issues

Sometimes my Note8 does not charge on my Samsung fast wireless charger. No, this is not a position issue.. Sometimes, it just doesn't charge. The solid bluelight of the wireless charger although turns on. The only way for me to wireless charge again in this state is for me to reboot the phone.
Anyone else run onto this? Very annoying and it happens at random times.

I am surprised no one ran into this issue. The only thing I can think of that would cause this is some service I disabled.
I have the same issue and unfortunately have not figured it out. Mine will charge for about 10 seconds then will start blinking, I am using the dock fast charger from before the note 8 though not the newest one.

I had the same issue when trying to use the older wireless charging stand. I think it's a power issue because I tried an older iPad charging block (one of the bigger ones that has higher wattage or voltage or whatever) and it charged fine on the older stand. It didn't say it was fast charging but it did charge faster than average. I think I'll just stick to the newer charging base I got from the Note 8 promotion.
I had the same issue. I realized the case that i was using was the issue. Had to take it off to use the wireless charging.
I noticed the same thing recently. The wierd thing is, I also have the old original flat slow wireless charger and I use tha every night with a case, it just won't work on the fast dock one. Only without the case, or I think if i lay it sideways it works.

This issue has to do with power supply. Try different cables or wall plugs. I have had this issue in the past it could be sending too much or too little voltage. It blinks like that and turns off to protect your device from getting damaged.
I actually had to use an older wall plug to get my older wireless charging pad to work. The quick charge wall plug was pushing too much voltage.

if I remove the case it works perfectly. With the case its the 10 second deal; However, I took your advice and switched out the charging brick to another samsung fast charger ( all i have to test with at the moment) and it looks like it may work. I will see if I have a better one at home but it may just be with the case its having to emit more power like you mentioned. not sure but ill try that out for now.

Looks like a common issue where the old wireless charger (pre S8 ones) had problems. My fast wireless charger had no issues with the S7, just the Note 8.

Many users are facing this problem. While searching the web I found one user giving the best solution for this problem at Samsung community, He says that he has the same issue if the phone is standing straight up. However, when he put it on its side he never seems to have the problem.

Anyone notice that it only charges when the screen is OFF?
I have this issue sometimes randomly on the new flat fast charger. Does this with my wifes S8 as well. My older standing type fastcharger that I got for my Note 5 works flawlessly. I feel like it's the flat fastcharger base itself.

Question Magnetic USB-C chargers do not work! Triggers moisture sensor block.

I've been using magnetic cables for my Android phones for years. You put the magnetic USB adapter in the charging port of the phone and the USB cable connects magnetically to it. Makes it very easy to charge your phone while driving, keeps dust and dirt out of the charging port and decreasing the wear and tear on the port from constantly unplugging and plugging in a cable. However, when the USB adapter that stays inserted into the phones USB port is in there for a certain period of time, it seems like maybe around 5 to 8 hours, it triggers samsungs moisture/foreign object sensor and disables the charging port entirely and the only way to charge is by using a wireless charger. There are several ways to temporarily circumvent this but ultimately the sensor always gets triggered and the song and dance starts over and over again.
So that being said, has anyone figured out how to stopped this from happening without rooting? I love my magnetic charging cables and have invested a lot of money in them and I use them not just for my phone but for several other devices likes tablets and stuff because they can universally fit usb-c, micro, nano and thunderbolt with just one cable.

I have also been charging with a magnetic charger for many years, now even for the device I've been waiting for almost a month, I ordered brand new kits. I really hope there is no problem like what you described.
Of course I will also buy a wireless charger, but the convenience of using the magnetic one is indispensable for me.
Yeah I'm having the same issue with my magnetic charging cable. I haven't had the phone long enough to see how big of a problem its going to be, When i get the pop up i take the plug tip out for a while and it seems to go away.
Worse comes to worse if it starts to become a major hassle I'll just get a wireless charger hopefully someone will figure out a solid fix before it comes to that
Never knew something like this even existed... Can one leave the tip in the usb port permanently as a cover to protect it from dust/ debris when not using to charge it? It also seems like a great solution for protecting the USB port from the constant wear and tear of plugging/ unplugging into it..
Exactly.
For years I have been using this solution to charge with a magnetic charger and the magnetic adaptor from the cable stays in the phone until I replace the device with another.

I have two brands. Both have the issue.

Yes.
So I tried something that might have fixed it more permanently. See if this works for anyone.
1. When you have the moisture sensor/foreign object notification and you get the message pop-up stating the charging port has been disabled while trying to charge with a cable plugged in, keep the cable plugged into the phone.
2. Then, restart the phone by pressing and holding power and volume down button and selecting restart.
3. When the phone reboots you will notice that the phone is now charging properly. AND if you unplug and plug the cable there is no moisture notification anymore.
I've tested this for about 24 hours and this has been the longest time it's been without triggering the moisture notification. Normally it takes under 8 hours to trigger.
So if this works then you can keep your magnetic adapter inside the phones charging port indefinitely without getting that moisture notification. I have not tried removing and reinstalling the magnetic adapter which might reset the moisture trigger.
Pulling the adaptor and reinstalling it also seems to at least temporarily reset the moisture notice
I'm glad to find out that I'm not the only one with this trouble. I'm not sure what I did, if anything, to fix/workaround the issue, but I've not seen the moisture sensor trigger for almost 3 days now. (Knock on wood.)
Things I've tried:
Reboot while the charger is connected.
Clear data in the USBSettings system app.
Switch to a magnetic plug that hasn't been used before. (I had several that came with the cables that have remained in the box until now.)
After trying each of these at least twice the problem still occurred again later. Today I realized that it's been a few days since it happened. To clear the warning sometimes it takes a blast of compressed air into the port, sometimes it only takes removing the plug, waiting a moment for the notification to clear and then putting it back in.
BTW, for the curious who haven't seen these before, search for "NetDot Gen12" at Amazon. They are very convenient. This is the 3rd or 4th phone I've used them on, and I also use them on tablets and other devices with a USB charging port. The only issue I've seen besides the moisture sensor on the S22U is that there is a small area on the screen next to the magnet where it is a little less sensitive to the s-pen. It's so small and usually such a non-issue that I didn't realize that it was due to the magnet until recently.
Of course, now that I've mentioned that it's been a few days since the moisture sensor was tripped, it has now happened again and my 3 day streak has ended. :-(
I wonder if the true quality of these cables is being revealed through other means (bugs in hardware through environmental discharge or whatever). Could be something simple like ESD on the pins, crosstalk/interference. Either way it's reading a short to ground and doing its job by protecting the phone.
USB was never designed around these magnetic devices and aren't in spec. It's not a phone problem. It's a cable problem.
There's a comment here: https://us.community.samsung.com/t5...lse-moisture-debris-alert-issues/td-p/2204054 that suggests it may be a software issue, as the commenter states that he's started getting it on the Note 10+.

Out of all the Android phones I've used with a magnetic cable (which have been probably 5 from various manufacturers over the years) I've never seen this problem before until now. The last Samsung phone I used was an S7 and I do remember having some odd over heating warnings when charging but eventually that problem went away. I think this "foreign object" sensor is being triggered because the magnetic adapter is staying plugged into the usb-c port in the phone but not charging. Thus the sensor is being triggered. However, there seems to be the same pop-up notification message for "moisture detected" and "foreign object detected" since it covers both in the same message. So it is a little tedious to figure out if the moisture sensor is being triggered or the foreign object sensor is being triggered.
Could the cable be at fault? I highly doubt it at least in my experience. It's more realistic that Samsung has placed so many safety sensors on this phone that it's only a matter of time before one gets triggered. But magnetic cables have been around for years and Samsung knows this. So they knew by installing this foreign object sensor that it might break the use of magnetic cables. Which is sad because Apple has had magnetic charging cables for years in their laptops and recently their Apple phones use magsafe wireless chargers which is a magnet built into the phone.
I've also used magnetic chargers for years in my Android phones and tablets and I've never seen it adversely affect it in any way.
I'm having the same issues and I'm not using some cheap knock-off magnetic cable but one that has been on the market almost 3 years, is still available, comes with a 10yr warranty and supports up to QC4.0 on the mobile cable version (which I have) and is also available in a 100w PD version (ChargeASAP Uno cable). These moisture/debris alerts are the FIRST problem I have EVER had with this magnetic cable, and while I originally bought 3 sets (thinking they would wear out from daily use, I never even opened my 2nd & 3rd set until I started having issues with it in my S22 Ultra on day 1 and assumed it was coincidence that moving it from my previous S10+ to this phone exposed a weakness from wear and/or age. Unfortunately the brand new set had the exact same issue.
Now, in my case, I always wirelessly charge, except when I'm in my car using android auto daily (why I bought the magnetic cable) and the once a month or so I copy data to/from a PC. I am getting the moisture/debris alerts every couple hours or more when the magnetic adapter is in and it is HOURS before or after I actually used the magnetic cable (tip was inserted 24/7 until I got tired of this nightmare). On the weekends when I may not drive or sync for 24-48hrs, I've gotten the warning when the phone was just sitting on a table at the lock screen for an extended period in my house. My charge port is spotless without a speck of dust and this continued to happen with a brand new magnetic charging tip that was sealed in an anti-static bag before putting it in the phone. Honestly this MUST be an erroneous BS error and Samsung should address it.

"Mobile Device" 18w version (I have these): https://chargeasap.com/collections/usb-c-mobile-device-magnetic-cable
They also sell 100w versions geared toward laptops and/or PD Charging
Interesting thread. I never knew about the magnetic system. I do keep a usb-c plug in the port full time to keep out dirt and lint. Never had the moisture popup so far in a week with one inserted in my S22.

This is interesting. So you use just a plastic usb-c insert cover of sorts? Can you provide a link to the product?

There are other versions but these are the last ones I bought: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B085T5L9T6/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&th=1
They don't last a long time if you are taking them out every night to charge with a cord. But now that I have wireless charging, they should be more permanent.
