BugFacing some problems with the OnePlus 6 - OnePlus 6 Questions & Answers

I purchased this phone two days back, and over the course of these two days I've found out that a lot of apps just stop working and are force closed as soon as I start them. Amazon, Galaxy of Heroes, Instagram being a few of the apps that get shut down as soon as I start them.
I tried reinstalling the apps, and it works fine once after reinstalling and then the same thing starts happening again where the app gets force closed.
Is this a known bug?

I can only say something about Instagram since it's the only app from theese I use: works 100% here. I'm on stock rom now, no root, no issues.
Are you rooted? Are u using any theme on the apps? If so, it's probably theme related (substratum)
If not, try wiping dalvik cache from recovery if it doesn't work try a factory reset...

FCs/soft reboot?

So so far, yesterday I've had the multi-touch keyboard force close maybe 4 times, the drag racing game 8, and a soft reboot. I have not rooted yet... holding off until there is more of a point. Anyone else having issues like this? I have 28 more days to do an exchange, I wanted to see if it's just my phone or not & either way I'll give it another week to see how it fares. Soft reboot occurred at maybe 40 hours or so of run time.
I use Go keyboard which has a far better layout and the swype ability as well, never had a fc. I dont play games. Have gotten a few fc's on various apps for unknown reasons, a few freezes in apps, but it happens so rarely that its not an issue. I did have to do a hard reset the day I got it though, but it was my fault.
sent from my Motorola Atrix 2 via Tapatalk
try doing a battery pull, not saying it would help but it definitely wouldnt hurt.
Fter rooting FC's also
After rooting (One-click method) and running Titanium Backup Pro to get a good backup of my phone. I now have a similar FC issue. Every time I try to open a contacts details, in the contacts app that starts, it will FC on me. The same thing happened to the phone app, works only if I dial a number from the keypad, click on a recent call in log, baam! FC I had to install GO Contacts/Dialer and they work fine. I tried to clear the cache/factory reset but the issue persists after I just loose all my info.....
Any way to Flash back to stock yet, think its a little to soon to root this racehorse....
I now have 3 apk's in TB that have a line through them. I cannot backup/restore/freeze the apps. Under the lined out app it says "No Backup yet"
com.motorola.blur.contacts.sync.yahoo
com.motorola.blur.provider.linkedin
com.occamy.andriod.motoxmayhem1lite
Anyone that can post these apk's so I could re-install/repair would help me greatly. I had this similar issue on my old cappy and replacing the app fixed it. I think when TB makes a backup and closes the app it some how actually deletes the app and/or corrupts it and then you have to replace it.
Rooting should no effect on the problems you are having. Did you freeze anything with TB, if so unfreeze everything, if not try unistalling it and see if the problems persist
If you are rooted, download ROM Manager and run fix permissions. That should help out with FC's.

[Q] Phone, contacts and messages keep closing

I have Galaxy S with Android 2.3.4 JVR and it works like a charm - with this one exception: sometimes (too often) phone, contacts and messages (sms) keep closing. This happens usually within a second or two after opening up them. There's no force close message, it just returns to the home screen without any warning. If I reopen it, it usually does the same a couple of times, but eventually I get it to open.
At first I thought this must be a memory issue. However, I have Autokiller installed (my phone is rooted) and I have usually >100M free memory. Then I thought it must be Autokiller killing the dialer, contacts or messages apps. BUT: this happened also before I had Autokiller installed, so it can't be that either. The strangest thing is that I tried installing GO SMS Pro and GO Contacts + Dialer, and even they do the same thing occasionally (close immediately after I open them), so it isn't a problem with apps either.
I am bedazzled here, could somebody please help me? This starts to get really annoying, since the dialer, contacts and messages are the feature you normally use most in your phone!
I have the exact same problem! Somebody, please help
the phone app and etc. seem to be corrupt or something
try reflashing. If you keep getting the problem then revert back to your previous rom =/
Is there any way to try to replace only the phone etc. apps without flashing the whole rom?
from my experience no but you can try replacing phone.apk sms.apk etc with the previous rom's apps
The funny thing is that I have a stock 2.3.4 JVR, so it should be stable.
Plus, did I mention that this happens only sometimes? Sometimes they work ok. But this happens often enough to be annoying. You know, when you would have to make a quick phone call you have to open the phone app like 3-4 times, only then you're able to make it. I wondered if the the problem could still be in the dialer, contacts and messaging apps even if the problem occurred only sometimes?
In addition, the calendar app has done this a couple of times. Could it be that there's a conflicting app that's causing this? If so, do you have any suggestion what it would be?
Autokiller made my phone do some really funny stuff. After installing it i was having random reboots and apps crashing so i uninstalled and problem solved. You said it was happening before you installed it though so im just guessing that you need to either wipe cache and dalvik then reboot or do a full wipe and reinstall of your rom. When you do the full wipe go into mounts and storage and wipe system too
Hi and thanks for your comment. What are the effects of wiping the cache and the dalvik cache? Do I lose important data? Or can I do it safely? Sorry, I'm a bit of a n00b with android. I suppose you wipe the cache in download mode, right?
I experience exactly the same issue as you-though I am on stock jvu.I come from 2.3.3, stock as well, using chainfire root both times.
Sometimes phone contacts and message s close immediately after opening them, often several times. and sometimes everythings fine
here you can find some information about dalvik and normal cache wipe..your data will be safe-only first boot will take longer.I will try wiping now, too-reporting back then.
Edit:
For now wiping seems to have worked well and fixed the problem here..I need some more testing though-will keep you up to date here
edit 2: damn! The issue's still there.anyone got more ideas?
G'day!
I have the exact same problem with JVU and I had this problem with 2.3.3 but less frequent. I have no choice but to reboot the phone when it happen. I suspect it's caused by one of the widget (email and Go weather) that I put on the desktop. Going to remove the two widgets from desktop and see if it's help.

Okay, that sounds interesting - though I am not sure wheter a widget could cause this...
I am still running JVU but now with Galaxian Kernel instead of Chainfires root Kernel - flashed with SGS Kernel Flasher and still got root - and it runs very stable and fast 'till now. No more closing of phone, contacts and messages so far -.- since 2 days.
I'll tell you when it happens again, but so far it seemed to be a kernel issue for me...
I've been having the same issues with my Samsung SideKick 4G. messages would keep closing as I was typing them, I would lag and the key I pressed would "press again" like 15 more times, sometimes I just couldn't open a conversation, other times I couldnt answer phone calls cause the UI lagged.
That was all on stock firmware, and I got fed up with it so I tried to flash a custom ROM on it, and before I did that I had it OC'd to 1.2GHz which was actually pretty great. Needless to say, I screwed up on flashing the ROM and now I'm looking for firmware to odin back to stock. =\

google apps are force closing

exhibit II with Peach Sunrise 2.04 ROM
I have been rolling peach for about two weeks. Upon reboot I get “the application google services framework (process com.google.process.gapps)has stopped unexpectedly… then all other apps google related force close. Dolphin and opera browsers force close as well. How can I fix this?
Try clearing Google Play Store app data as well as Google Framework Services in: settings>applications>manage applications>(find both and select "clear data"), see if that helps things...

Yeah, I'd say try a new Gapps package file and flash in CWM, also might not hurt to select the "fix permissions" option under advanced in CWM as well...

Exhibit + Peach Sunrise + Go Launcher = eventually many apps Force Close => Repeat ag
I've searched the forums and can't find a solution that fits my problem.
I bought a Galaxy Exhibit II with Monthly4G - love the form factor, accessible battery, expendibility (compared to big $$$ phones).
TMO default load was very unsatisfactory.
I flashed it to Peach Sunrise 2.04, ran V6 supercharger and the phone became what it should be - a good performer.
I also loaded go launcher.
I thought it was stable and just installed apps, updates, etc as I wished (you know like I did on the iPod for 6 months before committing to the android platform.)
For the second time the phone just melted down - starts getting all kinds of random Force Closes - reboots don't help.
I also tried clearing all cache and davlik, uninstalling google play updates.
However, the problem is also affecting some core services and almost any app I start on demand - including backup apps!
I had recently installed some updates and three wifi teathering apps (to make teathering easier). On one of the reboots go launcher went through it's setup several times (I know there was an update recently).
I am really enjoying the android platform and this inexpensive phone - but I really don't want to be reflashing it every 4 weeks.
Here are my questions:
Q1) Does anyone recognize my combination of software or a specific software as causing general instability (Peach Sunrise + Go launcher OR Wifi Tether utils that require root)
Q2) Is there a way to trace what causes the instability? (In my day job I use detailed tracing utilities on Windows to find problems with Apps / OS). I found catlog - but didn't have it installed and can't get it installed now.
Q3) Could I be getting hit from a virus or hacking? (I am running "Lookout" antivirus)
Q4) Does anyone else have this challenge of persistent reflashes required?
I'm not expecting to be hand held here - but when I search "Force close" with any combination I get a lot of information that ends with the solution of reflashing. If that is the only solution I can't be reflashing every month.
Thanks for any help.
I have this problem. So far, I can only find a temporary fix. Flashing anything or clearing cache or dalvik cache in Recovery mode temporarily fixes this problem.
I only get this problem when I'm using Instagram though. I don't know why.
I have this problem on my samsung exibihit 2 4g after flashing it back to stock because of the problem with sending texts while on data. And now none of my apps are working. i had to switch phones because i cant ecen text on it now. If anyone has a fix gor it please message me your suggestions. Thank you
This seems to be Talk crashing. I get the same FC message. I have to login manually to get Talk online again. Anyone else notice that

Nexus 5 consistently having apps crash

Lately my Nexus 5 has been having some issues. I first started noticing this when I'd get artifacts popping up while on chrome. Then during reboot, play services would crash, and sometimes the launcher would refuse to start. Then other apps like Hangouts would refuse to let me view messages without a app crash. Even 3rd party apps have crashed on me.
I've done a full wipe and put stock 4.4.2, three different times now and within a day I get the same symptoms all over again.
This has been going on for over a week, I have absolutely no idea what to do now.
Any ideas? Is perhaps the storage bad? Any way to test it? Or what should I do.
Thanks
Flash clean stock and don't install a single app for those few days and see what happens.
If nothing, install just a few apps at a time per day. If it suddenly starts....you'll know its one of the few apps you just installed.
That's all I got. Lol

Are you flashing a custom kernel with it? Are you undervolting at all, running art? I specifically ask for undervolting, cause that will cause things to crash | reboot.
No, no custom kernel. Everything I got was from googles factory image site. https://dl.google.com/dl/android/aosp/hammerhead-kot49h-factory-02006b99.tgz
And I've never undervolted before. I could root and perhaps increase the clock speed. Also not running ART. I did a few months ago, but switched back.

Well aside from rooting, best you can do is force stop all those apps, particularly the ones that are crashing specifically, then clear those caches from the menu. After you've done all your problem apps, reboot.
If he did a full wipe and installed a fresh stock image....caches aren't the issue. Its probably one app wreaking havoc. Lol

S7 causing multiple issues (Slowdown, stuttering, auto closing)

Hey,
Yesterday started noticing issues for my S7, which I've had since launch. Have not rooted it or flashed anything to it, but noticed issues yesterday and still occurring now after trying a few things.
Issues include:
-Opening a folder/pressing multi task button, it will probably auto close in a few seconds.
-Kingdom hearts game is now stutters every few secs, music and video.
-Keyboard vibration isn't quite keeping up to button presses.
-General slowness, drag an icon to uninstall it, doesn't direct to the home screen. Even if it did and you dragged it to uninstall, it didn't on one occasion.
-Playing a video on the Youtube app will eventually cause the video to stop/pause every few seconds
I tried clearing system cache, turning off/on, restarting, using smart manager to clear app caches. None of these have seemingly fixed the issues.
Any suggestions would be welcome and greatly appreciated.
Thanks
I think it is related to latest oculus update. try deleting this app if you have it.
Try to factory reset your phone, but if that doesn't help then I would suggest taking it to the repair shop.

Very good point, I did notice that update yesterday, I'll have to try it later when I get the chance, surprised it can mess with the phone despite not being in VR mode though... Thanks for the suggestion!
As for factory reseting, I'd like that to be the last thing to try, as 1. It's gonna be a pain to restore everything back, and 2. I have my bus ticket on my phone using an app, and I think I may lose it if I do this...

It's because the app is stuck in an install loop, the update never completes
Oculus Rooms is the culprit, kill it until they fix it
No factory reset necessary. Install Package Disabler Pro, disable the following:
- All bloatware (via menu option)
- Facebook App Manager
- Facebook App Installer
- Oculus Home
Reboot, wait 5 minutes, and see how Kingdom Hearts is doing at that point.
Hey guys, recently my phone is acting really weird... Whenever i install a new app from play store, when i try to open it, the app crashes.
If i uninstall it and reinstall from the play store it works just fine.
Any ideas about what could be the issue?

Try clearing play store cache, if it still does it, boot to recovery and clear caches from there
Great

Just to update, I uninstalled all Oculus related stuff and it's all fine again. Thanks a lot!
Only problem will be when I want to use Gear VR again, I presume it will all be installed again, though at this point I don't use it regularly really, so I can leave it for a while.

Just a quick update
When i did that it worked that day. Now i installed a new app and the craching app issue is back :/
I'll try to clear android cache from TWRP and see what happens
So it worked for one app (the one i tried after clearing the cache). Opened the app and no crashing. Later this week i installed a new app and same problem, so i booted to recovery and cleared cache from there. Installed a new app (google weather i think) and the app crashed... Any other thoughts on that subject?
