FRD L02 .....B510 or B512? - Honor 8 Questions & Answers

Which one should i flash with hurupdater? B510 or B512?

512... It was more newly approved internally..

I have installed both the versions. Did a clean install. Camera and sound wasn't working. There were some other graphical bugs and the battery life was just awful. I am back on B373 official.

Best Firmware for mt7-l09 user in USA

I've had my mate 7 fit several months now and have enjoyed most everything about it. One thing is bothering me though and that's battery life. I get about 4 hours SOT bit I here people get 3 or 4 more hours on this forum. I'm on B327 and was wondering if it would be beneficial to go all the way back to the main Kit Kat firmware it came with and update to the best software version or whatever it is. Or is there a better way to update but keep all my features because I updated to B331 but lost 4g and the menu that has things like flip to stop alarm and stuff. Any help would be greatly appreciated to make this great phone have any even better battery life!
If your main concern is battery life then I suggest you flash back to KK and see if your batter life has improved. Also, please note that some apps installed in your phone may cause the significant decrease in battery life.
What you can do is this:
1. Stay on B327 but factory reset your phone. Monitor the battery performance for a few days. If it stayed the same flash back to KK. If not, there might be some apps consuming too much juice. Identify those apps.
2. Go back to KK and monitor the battery performance. If it stayed the same then it might be a battery problem. If not, then stay on KK.
KK and LP don't have that much differences.
And honestly, I don't know the best firmware for both L09 and TL10. Some say that this firmware is stable and some say that that firmware is stable. A lot of opinions here on XDA. But in my experience, I flashed a lot of firmwares, often flashing back and forth, from KK to LP and LP to KK, because of bugs. And right now, I'm on B130 (KK) and downloading a new firmware for TL10 which is the B331.
My advice to you is just backup your phone and keep flashing firmwares until you get a "stable" one.

How would one go about reverting back to Kit Kat?
You can find the B300 Transition Package here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/mate-7/general/huawei-mt7-l09-l10-stock-firmware-ota-t3275784
To update back to KK, follow these steps:
1. Download B300 Transition Package
2. Download firmware for KK
3. copy 'dload' folder inside your SD card or internal memory root directory. Note that inside the 'dload' folder is a file name UPDATE.APP
4. Once pasted, go to Settings->Updater->Local update. Your phone should be able to detect the UPDATE.APP file
5. Update your phone and wait for install to finish.
6. Once your phone has booted, go to Settings->About phone. Check if your phone version is B300.
7. If it's B300, which should be, delete the 'dload' folder and paste KK's 'dload' folder in the same directory.
8. Do steps 4 and 5.
9. Your phone should be back to KK.
The link I posted above contains all firmwares for both TL10 and L09. Just be careful not to download TL10 firmwares.
Anyway, L09 users say that B329 and B331 are the most stable LP firmwares.

I used all lollipop firmwares eg. B324,327,329,331 but they were not stable in running some apps and games like instagram, coc which I faced with sudden closing so backed to KK B137SP03

Sp03 is not a smooth firmware. The best one is b145, in my opinion. very snappy and fluid. B145 is even better than lollipop roms. Root is easy, amazing battery life, easy Bluetooth connectivity, very snappy, what else do you want

There's full 4g LTE connectivity with b145. I use straight talk, T-Mobile network, Dallas area.

User modifications and OTA updates

My mate 7 is rooted and with custom recovery (TWRP) instaled. Due to these modifications I am not able to get OTA updates from Huawei.
In order to get access to them, again, do I have to unroot and instal stock recovery , or can I only instal stock recovery and keep phone rooted?
many thanks
You need to unroot and instal stock recovery.
I decided, seeing as so many mate7 owners are bricking their phone, I will leave mine with root and CWM on kitkat and it can't get an OTA that will spoil it.
If there were a decent recovery flashable ROM I'd have a current backup and try it, but there's nothing out there with full functionality so kitkat stays.
The phone works really well as is. The mods I've applied give good performance and function. Why try to reinvent it just to say I have a newer OS?

What mods have you applied?
I'm running 5.1.1 on my gold model and found quite a significant performance boost. On KK I was experiencing choppy UI more often than not. The battery has slightly improved as well. Not that it's bad in any way running KK though...
I would kill to get a stock ROM (or a CM ROM) running on this phone, or even just Xposed. But alas, EMUI just won't budge.

On KK B130 I have unlocked bootloader, root, CWM recovery, de-bloated apps and launcher, installed Viper4Android, xperia keyboard and an old version of xposed withe some modules. It has other stuff too. Runs fast. No urgent need for a new ROM. Modded a lot to be really simple, lol. It is a pleasure to use.
For choppy UI, I enabled the setting to force GPU rendering in 2D applications. It's in developer options. You can also reduce or turn off animations.
I've installed a Kernel adjusting app too. Changed some settings, made the phone respond faster and read ahead performance increased. This made bluetooth streaming perform a lot better and it's just nice to use.
The stock governor settings keep the phone on the low speed cores as much as possible and this kills UI performance and makes UE disappointing. I also removed the Huawei launcher after installing Smart Launcher Pro.
I'm thinking of removing the OTA update app and permanently run B130 with no chance of updating it without use of CWM recovery to flash it.

Android Nougat ROMs List for the BLU Life One X 2016

This is a list of Nougat ROMs for this device and it's clones.
The list will be in the following format:
ROM : Version : Device : Tested/Untested
LineageOS : 14.1 : MMXC5 / E481 : Untested
Resurrection Remix : 5.8.4 : MMXC5 / E481 : Tested
crDROID : v3.5 : MMXC5 / E481 : Tested
AOSGPX : 7.1.2 : MMXC5 / E481 : Untested
There are also ROMs for the Elephone P8000, however the first time I tried one I got into a bootloop. It could just have been that I didn't wipe my caches, or it could have been a fault in the ROM; nonetheless I haven't tried any others from that device.
I couldn't find any for other devices, let me know if you see others.
Here is the factory firmware, as according to this post (Direct Download).
Also, the stock recovery: Original Post | Direct Download.
Im currently running crDroid and I couldn't be happier. Runs far better than the original firmware and the useless marshmallow update.

Have you encountered any bugs with crDroid? Did screen on time and standby increase by any good margin because doze and other os optimizations? With stock I get 7hrs SOT with LTE half the day. 5hrs if Skype calls and such.

Only bug so far is the kill app button not working (long press the back button) and sometimes after reboot sim cards not being detected. Usually it corrects itself after a few minutes. If not, I'll just re-flash the fix
Battery gets drained pretty fast compared to lollipop, but then again I used lollipop with xposed, greenify and amplify.

Happy to hear only minor bugs. I'm waiting on black Friday SD card to ship and then I'll be able to test too.
On lollipop all I needed to use was power nap to kill unwanted wake locks. I'll definitely try to get it to work because batter life is important to me. Only reason I'm upgrading is because of older exploits that stock didn't get updates for. Other than that stock with xposed is extremely stable for me.(30-60 days between reboots)
Do you know if crDroid is using stock lollipop kernel or is it a ported kernel? That would effect battery life greatly I suppose.
review of roms
Review time. Installed and tested these roms by wiping dalvik cache, system, data, cache and internal storage. Flashed ROM then gapps then "front camera flash" patch lastly flashed sim patch. Afterwards I wiped cache and dalvik cache again before rebooting. Once I had access to settings I disabled display live/night mode/blue filter for all ROMs.
All the roms tested used about 1GB of ram (and stock ROM being around <600MB.).
Resurrection Remix : 5.8.4 : Looks to me a part of this rom was made by another group of people that were not given credit.. Default browser loads the homepage of the other group. The system FM radio app was asking for root permission(denied it). Also it had email services running before I added any accounts can't remember this being the norm. Other than that this ROM ran the best in terms of speed and ui. Uninstalled because of security concerns.
LineageOS : 14.1 : This ROM has about the same speed as resurrection which is good but the ui stuttered/not smooth. Uninstalled because ported by same user as resurrection.
crDROID : v3.5 : This one ran the worse. It was slow and stuttered throughout the ui. Missed some customizations that Resurrection had so not sure why any one would want to use this instead.
AOSGPX : Didn't bother installing because last I heard they copied and pasted code from crDRoid.
At the end of the day I reverted back to stock because of security concerns. As well as having more ram available for apps. If I had more than one phone phone I would wireshark/test connections of the ROMs to confirm but I do not have. Hopfully this helps someone.

Just wondering with the ROM testing, did you disable the LiveDisplay nonsense? It drops my FPS to about 10, and is enabled by default.
Sorry, didn't read your whole post. I didn't find UI stuttering unless I enabled weird kernel stuff, or had L Speed installed.
Does anyone happen to know if any of these ROMs fix the problem that the official MM caused which was that all camera apps created a very dark image and took extremely dark photos?

sucktastic battery life (not like the original firmware was good to begin with) no compass (gmaps will point north regardless of your orientation) as soon as you install the google app (okay google!) the device will run a bit slower.

SP flash tool, scatter file and the original firmware (not a flashable zip). It's all in the original BLOX thread, buried somewhere there. Flash TWRP recovery using adb fastboot and flash super su with twrp recovery for root access.

Wow, thorough, thanks. Don't know what half those things are but I'll look them up. I guess there's no way to go straight back to Lollipop without flashing a stock ROM. I mean, by rooting it now maybe and then downgrading or something?

You could flash a lollipop twrp backup, if anyone uploaded one or if you made one before. But if you don't have it, only way is by sp flash tool and original firmware (which is not a recovery flashable zip).
Been using the Crdroid rom for a few weeks now. Havn't had any lag or extreme battery issues. Im interested in trying the resurrection remix rom since it was tested to be the fastest, tho them security issues are kinda holding me back. One thing im lookin for is front camera flash and back aswell. on Crdroid u cannot toggle it in the camera app, tho the flash works.

What are these security issues people are mentioning? Isn't a ROM a ROM? I don't get it.
Also, if crDroid works fine, you could just try any other camera app. There are several that are quite good. I wish there were videos of crDroid.

I mean with what's going on with Kaspersky being investigated for allowing certain trogens to work undetected and Kaspersky is own by Russians and since when does fm radio need root access.
Just a bit sketchy you know... But it could be just over-thinking it.

Better Dont Update! Battery and performance worse in Oreo, also with heating Issue. I downgraded My XZs back to Nougat.

CLT-L29C432B131 firmware improvements

Hi.
Today appeared fw CLT-L29C432B131.
I have updated with hurupdater method.
So far they have included camera improvements.

From FirmwareFinder:
This update optimizes system performance and stability.
Optimizes power consumption for longer usage.
Improves system performance and stability for smoother operations.
Optimizes the wallpaper display for a better experience.
Fixes an issue where the other party's voice was occasionally delayed when answering calls while using OK Google.
1. This update will not erase your personal data, but we recommend that you back up any important data before updating.
2. The system will restart after the update. This will take about 5 minutes.
3. If you experience any issues during the update, please call the Huawei customer service hotline or visit an authorized Huawei service center for assistance.

OK. Sure.
But it will take time.
I'm not a professional shooter, so basically I probably won't notice the differences too fast.
One thing I have observed is that the portrait selfie mode was improved, it's more natural.
Others I will test.
But again: with HuRupdater you can update easely.
(downloading 3 of 4 files from update packages: the choice is between clt-l09 and clt-l29, after that renaming and flash via twrp. See corresponding thread)
Interesting.. so it seems indeed that many of the under the hood changes are not always mentioned in the change log.
Yeah please keep us posted on the camera improvements and performance and power consumption.

How about the front-camera, can you turn off beauty mode? i set it to 0 but still on almost the same.
I've just tried to update using the HuRUpdater method but wasn't able to boot afterwards. Tried flashing twice but it just wouldn't boot to system. I've restored the TWRP backup I made before flashing and got back into system, now settings says I'm on .131 but I can't be if I just restored a .128 backup, right?
What's everyone's update method? Did you place custom recovery in the folder too or flash without? Wipe cache/dalvik after? Boot to system first before flashing Magisk or just flash directly after HuRUpdater script?
Want to try again but just wanted to check if I've missed something? Thanks!
just flashed with hurupdater, no problems at all, had to reflash twrp and magisk though... i guess the real improvement are the june security patches

I created a new folder with inside the hurupdater script and the three zips downloaded from firmware finder, no recovery img or else.
flashed the script, wiped cache and dalvik and rebooted straight to system.
rebooted to fastboot to reflash the praetoriano recovery, reboot to recovery to flash magisk and that's it.
I'm afraid i cannot help further
I see here P20 Pro users get new update 131, but just with FunkyHuawei and TWRP manual. No one gets updated from OTA. And if you looking the Huawei offical (in China) forum, they still didnt release new updates. So is this a beta updated from FunkyHuawei or how did they get it?

The cn firmware was updated too to version B123.
Remember, they have different numbers. Ex. Their B123 version is newer than our B131.
Look at production numbers in Fw.
