Possible brick? - OnePlus 6 Questions & Answers

I need some help. My phone is stock in fastboot mode. If i make a fastboot -reboot command, it will just reboot back to fastboot mode. I cant restart the bootloader. Im thinking i need to try and flash a fastboot rom with a stock image, but my skills are rusty. Any guidance would be much appreciated.:crying:

Hey , Just download the fastboot rom , below is the link , you will find instructions there
https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-6/how-to/rom-stock-fastboot-roms-oneplus-6-t3796665
to make it easy things to remember
REMEMBER
"Invalid sparce file format at header magic" is not an error, you need to wait a bit when you see that string, just wait.
HOW TO FLASH
Download the zip;
Unpack the zip in a folder;
Reboot the OnePlus 6 in fastboot mode (Power and volume-);
Connect the OnePlus 6 to PC;
Run .bat flasher you need;
Wait until the process end;
With new .bat you need to manually reboot the phone.
and i use this command flash-all-partitions.bat

I wish people would understand what the term brick means! I will also say it is 100% impossible to brick a oneplus 6 WITHOUT physical hardware damage. also fastboot mode is bootloader mode.

Thank you @Ajaykumar21066. I did some reading aswell, and first off -i must apologize for calling it a brick, since it really is a fastboot bootloop situation. Will report back when solved.

Solved using unbrick tool. Fast and easy.

[Q] Nexus S - lost my bootloader img - help needed

Like a complete prat, I have lost my boot and recovery img!!!
I was trying to get clockwork recovery as the recovery img and then accidentally did:
fastboot flash boot recovery.img
instead of
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
I have found an unlocked bootloader from here (third one down) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=9869067&postcount=38
I have saved this to the AndroidSDK\tools file as bootloader.img and tried the below whilst in fastboot mode:
fastboot flash boot bootloader.img
but the phone only reboots to the fastboot screen.
I now have no phone and I need it for work, can anyone help me, im desperate?
Thank you
Why not just flash cwm recovery then flash a ROM?
There's a sticky in this forum section with almost all full ROMs (stock Android, no need to flash cwm recovery for the signed ones, can use stock recovery) or head over to dev forums and look for a custom ROM you like (need cwm recovery).
Be sure to pick the right ROM for your device.
you don't need a bootloader! you need a boot.img! a kernel with ramdisk! ^^
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA Premium App
If the following command was executed successfully:
Code:
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
Next step is to download a ROM of your choice and flash it via ClockWorkMod recovery and you're good.
FYI, the command
Code:
fastboot flash boot ...
does not flash your "bootloader". It is used to flash the kernel, which will already be included in the ROM you downloaded.

No problem. Flash your recovery using the correct command (above).
If you have access to fastboot, use your volume keys as up and down, and navigate to the "Recovery" option. When your phone boots into recovery, you can mount your USB and copy a ROM to your device.
Then go back, do a factory/data wipe, and flash the zip you copied. This should restore your phone.

Thank you all for your replies and help and apologies for the late delay.
I have been away for a few days and with your help and a bit of playing about I managed to sort out the problem. I was probably a bit hasty to ask for help but actually felt that I had bricked my phone!
This happened because I was following two different fastboot flash guides on the net...lesson being just keep to one!
Also, when I lost cwm I didnt know how to get it back...but again you can only learn from your mistakes and I did.
I managed to get cmw reinstalled and cm7 flashed.
Now I am running the latest MIUI and it is pretty good.
Thanks all for your help, see you the next time I panic!

Mate 7 TL-10 (soft)bricked, no OS, no recovery, please help!

Hello Guys,
Please help me in the following case.
I have a Mate 7 TL-10. Originally, it was from China, it's system was Chinese.
Today, I rooted, I changed the location from CN to EU (I am from Hungary). Everything was okay, I wanted to flash a new (European) ROM, but before it, I wanted to wipe. Oh, no! Here, I was stupid. I wiped everything by that recovery, what the SRK Tool installs.
I lost everything, it wrote me, that no OS. I cannot enter to the recovery, it stucked at the Huawei logo. I even cannot switch the phone off, it only restarts!
Can you please help me to solve this problem and survive my phone?
Thank you for all in advance.

Hello!
Than kyou very much for your help. Yesterday night, I could survive the phone, this is what I did:
VOL- and POWER: fastboot mode
In fastboot mode, I connected to the PC and (beofr it, I downloaded an update.zip and extracted:
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
fastboot flash system system.img
fastboot flash boot boot.img
Now, it is working (seems to be) But what should I do with the other .img files from the update.zip?
Do I have to do any other steps? I think yes, 'cause if I check the Vendor info in th*#*#2846579#*#* menu, there is no country code in my phone
Can you help me, what should I do?
Thank you for your help again.

You can download the mobopx app by chudy on the first post of this page:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/mate-7/general/huawei-mt7-l09-l10-stock-firmware-ota-t3275784
This app lets you change the country/vendor information on your phone, amongst other things

First off all you should flash your regional firmware(original) then if you want to change region changing region is not big deal download the official one and flash by putting update.app into dload folder in sd card and flash by force update and if you are able to flash recovery then flash twrp recovery and flash custom rom like @chudy rom & @Ale rom if you stay in official states then flash chudy rom much likely to stock and if you like custom rom then flash Ale rom which I use and many other.
Flash twrp recovery and make a full backup then wipe all without sd card and then flash the rom zip file after that wipe both cache and reboot first time it'll take some time but don't worry keep it booting you all done..
Further help needed please ask.:good:

Ah yes. I've ran into similar issues last time I tried to revert from Pixel Experience Android 11 to stock RMQ firmware. I noticed if you start sending the recovery with fastboot flash recovery twrp.img, the fastboot cmd waits for device, you enter fastboot mode and then connect to the PC via usb 2.0 port the recovery will be successfully flashed BUT only that one file, whatever you want to flash next time for example vbmeta or system, vendor.img you'll have to repeat the cycle. Disconnect the usb cable, enter the flashing command to fastboot cmd on PC, boot back again to fastboot mode on your phone then connect the usb cable. This solved the issue for me.

It's worth a try for sure. Yesterday it took me more than 6 hours to set up a working RUI after Pixel Experience. One of these issues was that I couldn't flash custom recovery and vbmeta. I Always keep a modified vbmeta and twrp.img on my external SD card once I successfully managed to boot up into twrp after fastboot flash. Remember, keeping custom recovery installed should be your number one priority for you can pretty much solve anything with it.

indeeed, custom recovery is the turning point to recover almost anything ! given the point that one manages to install it in the first place

Hi, I actually managed to flash the recovery, how ever it seem not to properly overwrite the original recovery.
I mean, i can flash and boot in to TWRP, only once at a time, once I exit TWRP and reboot into recovery, I land into the Realme recovery again !!!!! dont know whats wrong

Flash to stock firmware from T-Mobile

I am trying to flash to stock/global firmware from T-Mobiles. I have already unlocked the bootloader but I am confused on what to do next. Some people say all you need to do is flash the system and boot images. But when i try to flash the system it says unknown partition. If I try to flash everything it says Critical partitions can not be flashed and I dont know how to unlock them, fastboot flashing unlock_critical is an unknown command. Please help!
Try on adb using " adb reboot fastboot" reboot to fastbootd and flash system, vendor.

Ive progressed a bit and decided to use MSM Download Tool. Although I cant seem to get into EDL mode. My phone is bricked so i cant use adb, and fastboot commands dont seem to be working. Ive tried button combinations but they just lead me either into recovery mode or fastboot mode.
In fastboot, type fastboot reboot fastboot see whether can boot into fastbootd or not.

This is a very simple fix. You can boot into fastboot, do that again, and flash LineageOS Recovery while your there
Boot into recovery, choose advanced options, than enable ADB. Boom, now you can use ADB on your bricked phone.
.
The command you're looking for once there is "adb reboot edl"
Also a lot of the guides on how to convert to Global either use broken methods, or link to the wrong files. If I had a dollar eveytime someone messaged me about following a guide and ending in crash dump mode I'd have a lot of dollars. DM me if you wanna know how to get to global and you're struggling.

Question Bricked with no recovery. Please help

Long story short I messed up and now I don't have recovery. Only fastboot. Was bricked too before the no recovery thing.
How do I try to sort this? I don't have a pc either.
Using my old OnePlus 8T I was able to unlock, root and install a custom kernel.
Any ideas?

the good news is your phone can very likely be fixed. however in my experience you will need a computer. Folks here would love to help but knowing what device you are having an issue with would probably help with response to your situation. from fastboot you can boot a recovery image for your device and go from there. from fastboot you can also likely flash stock firmware to your device and start over fresh. It's also common to have to perform a factory reset after flashing the device to get it to properly boot.

OnePlus 9.
I tried searching but there are so many dead ends for finding the stock recovery. Even with that I'd still be bricked.
Where would one find the stock recovery, kernel and fastboot ready update.zip?
You do realize the boot.img is both recovery and kernel. Just extract it from payload.bin

If only I thought of that. It's not like I've been trying all day without success extracting what I need from the payload.bin. Definitely no dead ends there. Thanks for the massive help.

Im so close I can smell it now. Managed to get Python installed (had to deep dive into the comments on articles and tutorials) and have everything extracted in the last hour.
Now, for flashing these images I have to use Termux and it's working for the most part. My issue is now that I can flash one batch of images but not the other as per the xda guide linked now:
Restore OnePlus 9 to Stock via Fastboot Commands
This guide assumes you have the SDK Platform Tools installed and working, along with USB drivers for your device (if needed), and have your full update zip which you've already extracted the payload.bin from, and then dumped the images using...
forum.xda-developers.com
I keep getting errors about the partition being locked or something.
So close man. So close.
Locked partitions can only be flashed in fastbootd (fastboot reboot fastboot to get there).
First of all... Hold the both volume and power button for around 2 minutes. It'll take you to the bootloader mode. Then from the bootloader mode turn off your device then boot into edl then flash with msm.
