Unlocked SM-J237P can't send/receive MMS - Samsung Galaxy J3 (2017) Questions & Answers

I purchased this J3 Emerge from Sprint and later carrier unlocked it and ported to T-Mobile. The phone can make and receive calls and data works but MMS fails both for media and for group texts. I have updated the APN based on T-mobiles recommendations but no luck. The T-Mobile tech support guy (who actually seemed very knowledgeable) said that some unlocked sprint phones basically get locked to using Sprint's servers to download and upload MMS. I asked him if rooting the phone would allow better access to this and he was unsure, so that is my question:
Is there a custom ROM or root app that will fix this phone's ability to send and receive MMS?
Thanks in advance!

[Q] Network Unavailable Emergency Calls Only

Hello Everyone,
I got my first android phone this weekend, a Samsung Galaxy S2 I9100 (not I1900G, or any other variant, just plain old I9100) which was locked to T-mobile UK.
After doing a bit of reading and trying out 3 different methods for rooting, CF-root, insecure kernel, and finally the method described here for rooting stock ICS firmware without flashing an insecure kernel by Rachmat3:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1501719
After rooting method #2 (flash insecure kernel, run S2-root on phone) I ran chainfire's [root] Galaxy S2 SIM Unlock, this didn't work, so I ran Galaxy_S Unlock and it worked. At this stage I could use my phone for calls and sms though my SIM's network provider (virgin), and I later figured out how to get virgin to send me a configuration message to set up the APN settings, and I could then use 3G data to browse the web, etc...
However, I lost root when I flashed a secure kernel, and updated the firmware to XWLP7 from the intratech list of official kernels & firmwares:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1075278
Hence why I used Rachmat3's method #3 to regain root access, which worked like a charm.
However, I then lost the ability to make calls, send SMS and the phone refused to find the virgin network! Disaster! 3G still worked fine for data, and when I tried my sim card in my old phone I could still make calls and it found the virgin network immediately. I tried my gf's virgin sim in the SGS2 and it could find the virgin network but wouldn't connect any calls, it kept saying "unable to connect, try again later".
After reading around, I suspect that this may be a modem problem, can anyone confirm or deny this? I have the modem that came with intratech's XWLP7 firmware, which I believe is XXLPS. Can anyone recommend which modem I should try?
I have a real imei number, I tried flashing the CPW version of the XWLP7 rom instead of the XEU one, no luck, I tried a few other things that I can't remember now as it's first thing in the morning at work!
Any help, suggestions, or direction would be greatly appreciated, I was almost there on my own - fell at the last hurdle!
No-one else has this problem?
I've tried my sim card in it again this evening, I am unable to select virgin or Virgin from the network providers, but all other providers are there, o2, etc...
What's perculiar, is that when I use my gf's sim, both virgin and Virgin and all other providers are present, however, even with this sim, I still cannot make calls, even though it connects to the network, what the heck!?!
I've tried using different modems, no help.
Please anyone, any ideas?
I've contacted virgin this evening, they say the imei code isn't on their blacklist, I can't contact t-mobile until tomorrow, but I will ring them tomorrow and find out if they've blacklisted the imei for some reason.
Help!!
Any ideas, anyone else had similar problems?
Plz help!
I am looking forward to anyone's help about this question!
Hi all,
Just found out that the IMEI has been listed as lost or stolen by t-mobile. In contact with original owner to try and rectify the problem.
Anyone else having this issue, it's likely the same problem, contact the original carrier and ask to check their IMEI blacklist.
On a related note, does this mean that the previous owner of every second hand phone that is sold can just ring up their old provider and blacklist that IMEI whenever they want?
Seems like a bit of a massive oversight if you ask me... Surely there must be a way to transfer ownership of the IMEI number to a new owner?

Accessing Verizon HTC 8x windows backend

I have a problem that I need to know if anyone has an answer for.... I have a Verizon HTC Windows 8x that is unlocked and running on T mobile. I purchased this phone thinking it was fully functional on craigslist. I found out that once you unlock this verizon version phone, it removes the apn mms settings (Cannot send or receive picture messaging), your reception will on go to E or G and not 3G or $G, and you cannot access the internet share options.
I am looking for a way to access the back end and turn these features back on in this phone????
Malcolm
Thank you in advance...

hello
there is no such thing as a backend on this mobile platform
most of this stuff is controlled by the registry
the only limitations known for this device are related to the evdo services on it, impact directly on internet sharing, sms sending
as far for 3G / H+ it should work but it will never activate LTE on standard UMTS Services
also please check for workaround regarding sms and the other "painpoints"
regards

[Q] Verizon HTC M8 Locked MMS

I have recently purchased a Verizon M8. I have further verified that Verizon prolifically says they don't lock 4G phones, especially the M8. So after placing a Cricket SIM card into my device I was able to start talking and surfing the net. What cam to my attention was when I tried to send or receive txt messages with any content like pictures, it would send, and I couldn't down load. So that is when I realized I needed to set up my APN for the Cricket MMS network. What I have found is that Verizon has held HTC's feet to the fire and disallowed the use of any user interface to install an APN to this device. I have talked with HTC, and they recognize they have to release/resolve this issue, however in further investigation it appears that since Verizon handles their code, HTC can't provide the fix until Verizon allows them to. Hence it renders your MMS applications useless until this bug is resolved. Does anyone have any work arounds or knowledge of how to install APNs into an M* with doesn't have the user interface option? So far it only appears to be Verizon who is causing this issue.
I'm sure if you rooted it there would more a few options available to you. Short of doing that your probably screwed.

Samsung Solstice II AT&T unlocked on T-Mobile (issues with Mobile email)

**ADMIN: I realize this is not for an Android phone but I really need some answers and don't want to sign up for any other forum page.**
I have an AT&T Samsung Solstice II which I have unlocked and currently having to use on T-Mobile.
While T-Mobile automatically sent me the APN settings and they installed, I can't use the Mobile Email applications or any other AT&T app.
I need to be able to log into my G-Mail using this device and I can't because it says Service currently unavailable. Try again later.
I need to know how to set up the mobile settings so that the Mobile Email will work on T-Mobile despite this being an unlocked AT&T phone
...
Got two new phones since and that one broke so I don't use it anymore

Question Won't receive some MMS messages from Verizon phones

I have a friend with an A53 5G who is on Consumer Cellular (AT&T MVNA). She cannot receive MMS messages from me and a few other Verizon customers. However, she gets MMS from most of her friends on Verizon and all of her friends on other carriers.
She can send MMS to though.
These friends have a mixture of Android and iPhones.
It happens whether she is on WiFi or cellular.
She has even got a new SIM card. All this started on March 29.
Her signal is only 4G
She used to be with Verizon but switched to Consumer Cellular because Verizon’s signal because unusable where she lives.
She ported her number from Verizon to CC.
These are her APN settings:
Name: ConsumerCellularAPN: ccdataProxy: Not RequiredPort: Not RequiredUsername: Not RequiredPassword: Not RequiredServer: Not RequiredMMSC: http://mmsc.mobile.att.netMMS proxy: proxy.mobile.att.netMMS port: 80MCC: 310MNC: 410Authentication type: default, mms
is she using verizon's message+??
Its not necessarily the device. Carriers do stuff in the background that can interact badly at times especially with other carriers. Other times it could be the messaging app or maybe something else.
I've had longer messages never show up to someone so I try not to do longer messages.
But, its likely not the device at fault. Its more complicated than carrier to carrier as location and other things can be involved. You wouldn't understand how complex software is without programming experience. Going by this carrier to that carrier isn't factoring in all possibilities that may happen that wouldn't be understood by normal users.
You could obviously use a different messaging app that isn't SMS/MMS and it would solve the problem without thinking further or dealing further on it.
