I'm on the last stable release of oxygen and I keep getting the update for pie and it keeps failing
anyone else?
Nice, but how about AOSP android P ?
Stock trash ROM from oneplus is unacceptable.
Why is it so hard for oneplus to make a normal fully functional AOSP for their device ?
and let people to choose what they prefer.
Good news!
looks like Oxygen Pie is on the way XD
Are you on beta?

I completely agree with you. OnePlus is on their way of fcuking Oxygen OS. Waiting for a stock AOSP rom or Pixel experience rom to flash it on my device and get rid of this ****.
that is not Oxygen OS interface(UI)

I'm getting an update to OOS 5.1.11 - for real!
yep 5.1.11 started rolling out, but still not Pie, this is almost the same changelog for the last HydrogenOs

I just did the update to OOS 5.1.11 and sorry buddy but it is not Pie. It is just an update for Oreo.

Stop crying. You bought it and I don't think OnePlus promised to you that you're gonna get AOSP...
If you change the build.prop to Pixel 2, you can receive Pixel Pie update, but you can't install, It happened to me to have this window of update because of that

I want to give my unused nexus 5 for a friend, but it's been almost a year since I visited these forums. I want to give him nougat if possible, but are those ROMs stable? Basically I need a stable ROM with good battery life and that's it. What would you recommend?
I recommend flashing the phone with the latest stock MM so it will receive security updates.
Stock will be the most stable.

Thanks. But he doesn't really need security updates. And when I was using it, I'm sure XtraStock and XtraSmooth were really stable, no reboots and no bad stuff happenning. Also, multi window support would be cool, so what is the most stable Nougat ROM?

Try PureWhite6.0.1 Rom, it is very stable as it is based on stock rom.
I am using it since long time.
It's a Nexus, they're all stable. Some have some bugs, but I cannot consider any of these ROMs unstable, like so many of them were on my Galaxy S back in 2011. Me personally, I use Nitrogen 7.1.1, and not only is it stable, I can't even find any bugs in it.
AOSP 7.1.1 by @Santhosh M is great. Also The Fakenexus 7.1.1 is going yo get update soon i think. it was my favourite rom, but i lacked updates for last month. Right @ganachoco ?

Sure? I thought the N5 won't receive any security updates any more.
The n5 won't get nougat but I thought it would receive security patches for a little while longer.
Edit: Looks like the n5 was supposed to stop getting updates three years from the date of introduction or 18 months from when it stopped being sold. Maybe the security updates have stopped?
They have.
I am also searching for a ROM for my N5. I dont want to flash again and again. Lets say I want to choose between AOSP 7.1.1 by @santhoshm and the LineageOS Rom. What are the differences? For Updates: I think the LinageOS will have an integrated Update Feature. And in the Rom by SanthoshM I will have to flash manually in TWRP each Update? And besides that, one is completely the Stock Rom and CM hat some extra features but looks ans feels nearly the same as stock. ...?
Thank you guys!
Hi friends,
I am a bit unsure. At the moment I'm on OOS Open Beta 3. Now that the official Pie based OOS was released, I am wondering if I stay on Open Beta or change to official OOS.
What are you doing? Tell me. What are the cons and the pros?
Thank you!
btw.: If somewhere there's already a poll for this, then please tell me.
Open Beta = faster updates, less stable (at least this last declared from oneplus but i've noticed no difference)
Official = slower updates, more stable (but as i said up it's the same)
For updates i mean you get first the latest features that oneplus give us

I'm pretty happy with open beta 3, so I'm sticking to the beta channel. I'm sure there will be a new beta soon, probably won't be a new stable build for a while.
Official here. That way I know magisk modules, kernels and mods will work.

Incorrect statement!
The change log for official build is taken from Open Beta 2 change log.
Means that the open Beta 3 was released after the official build was certified.
That means that Open Beta will be parallel channel with Official builds.

No, there will still be open beta builds that introduce new features etc.
Funk wizard said 4-8 weeks each stable update, and either 1-2 or 2-4 I don't remember for open beta ota
I didn't expect that the most of you use the stable OOS. I mean: We're on XDA here!
Wow. Thank you!
Well, this is my 1st OnePlus device and i m super happy to be on Beta channel, i was little upset when i saw the stable release came so quick after 3 weeks of beta started. But when i saw the stable release has less feature than the OB3 I decided to stay on Beta channel.
But, yeah I m little comfused, whats new we will be getting on the beta channel after the stable pie has released?
And i want to know 1 thing, will our device always be uncertified till we are on Beta channel?

Will there be no way to shift to stable without loosing data.
Like I stay on OB3 and there is stable beta 3 months later on, still the Stable package considered as downgrade?

I prefer official also, but tarp and magisk do not work on Pie 9 official for me...
Probably going to wait a month until they work out most of the bugs. Still running 8.1.0, OOS 5.1.11
Why fix something that ain't broke?

No for now because stable build is build on beta 1 & we are running on beta 3 so data loss is must if in future stable come a version up then you can go to stable without loss.

I don't recommend dirty flash because sometimes it starts creating issue on your device.your device working fine so good luck i face issues with my older devices so i don't recommend anyone dirty flash because if you get issues factory reset is the last option for you.

I hear good things about Derpfest [Q] and EvolutionX 4.1 [Q]. Has anyone tried both and can offer me an opinion on which to try first?
The last time I tried a [Q] rom was Havoc-OS-v3.0- December 6th build but the battery life, bugs and performance issues made me go back to MIUI 10.3.6.0, there seems to be a lot more official [Q] roms now, I think back then Havoc-OS was the only "official".
So I'm not sure what to start with.
I kind of regret making this post now. I guess I'm going to just pick one and see how it goes.

Edit: The reason I decided to start with Derpfest was because it has OTA so hopefully when there is an update it will update itself.

Yep, had this as well on beta 1. My only solution was to use the pie downgrade zip. Start from scratch.

I haven't even rooted my device but im down for everything to make my phone great again!
Last time i was into roms and kernels was 8 years ago with my galaxy 4, i guess nothing changes much?
I would realy appreciate any recommendations for the best stable room that works flawlessly, and a kernel if you'd recommend, too please
Any other root/recovery recommendations will be much appreciated

I have tried Project Zephyrus, evolution x, nameless, and Corvus on my 8t so far. Depends on exactly what you're looking for I guess. Project zephyrus, and nameless, are both very stable. Nameless has a little bit more customization than zephyrus. Evolution x has quite a bit of customization and the battery backup isn't terrible. Project Zephyrus gave me the best battery out of all the ROMs I've tried though. Corvus I believe is no longer maintained on our device. I'm tried that ROM, and It wasn't the greatest for this device anyway. I'm currently running evolution x and is doing me justice. It has OTA support. Nameless does as well. Project Zephyrus is working on it. If you don't need all the bells and whistles, but just enough I would go with nameless. Honestly though better to test them all out yourself, these are just my personal opinion.
I forgot about Derpfest. One of my favorites as well. Pretty sure the Dev discontinued development though the last I knew. For our device, the maintainer/developer started his own ROM, but he's's talking about still doing derp builds now instead, until he finishes his newest project. PM me if you would like his telegram channel to join

And do you recommand any kernel too? Or just the rom itself?

It still gets updates, and the kernel that comes with it is already great, so I don't flash any other custom ones. I just extract the recovery.img from the payload.bin in the ROM zip using payload dumper. Once you have that, fastboot flash recovery recovery.img, boot to recovery, adb sideload the ROM zip then format data and boot to system. If you want root, sideload magisk.zip, or patch the boot.img with magisk apk then flash the patched boot.img

It can be the main gallery. The spoofing gives you unlimited pics and video cloud storage instead of just 10gb by spoofing your phone as a Google pixel 6. Nameless and Evo x have oos cam and gallery right now. Don't remember if zephyrus does, but I'm pretty sure it did
