What phone did Moto G3 users move on to? - Moto G 2015 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

The Moto G3 forum has become very quiet. That must mean many moved on to another phone. I am curious of those who moved on to another low cost phone like the G3, what phone did they move to.

Specs and cost all look good. It is a little big. I take it you like it. Do you have yours rooted? Something other than stock ROM.

I have been waiting for the cost to drop on the Moto site. I can not find any 64/4GB versions on Amazon or Ebay.

Yup I like it, at the start I thought that it was too big but now it is comfortable (I have big hands anyway). I'm using Android P gsi (pixel experience) and it is awesome .

im getting the moto x4 tommorow. i got it pretty cheap for 280 euros

Oneplus 6. It's pretty good for development!

A5 2017 for Samsung reliability and the phone is great so far !

Still on Osprey coz i love it... ?

asus zenfone max pro m1
I moved on to the asus zenfone max pro m1 simply due to the low cost SD 636 and 5000 mAh battery.
The main camera is not good - no EIS and pictures come out blurry. Installed the google cam mod to improve picture quality (no root required).
If I was out to buy something now it would be the Xiaomi Poco F1 due to the SD 845 SOC at such a low price.

Still using the osprey. Have no need to upgrade just yet as phone still works and battery life still pretty solid. I'll upgrade when the battery dies out but think I would have to get the poco f1

Mi A2 lite should be here any day
Osprey will still live as hand me down, it has been a great device and still is

Lenovo p2 ..since 1 year.. but I gave my Moto G3 to my dad ?

hi, yes, honor7 is better, but the h6 is smaller and cheaper and i really hate the sim tray on the h7
The SIM tray has no problem. I have 2 SIMs and a SDcard and I don't need to mess with it every month. It's a push in and forget about it thing.
As for size and aesthetic, that's of personal taste. But Honor 7 dropped price with the arrival of Honor 8. And Honor 6 will sooner stop receiving updates than Honor 7.

thanks for your reply, i really appreciate, i always hate the sim tray on any phone, not only H7, ( if there is an option to make it ejected by a simple click it would be nice hhh) but i really need to know the heating of this phone in lolli vs mm ( not gaming mod, just surfing, videos, youtube etc...)

Thanks a Ton bro
I have a j7 2016
Phone is super fast (I came from iPhone 5c or so). The lack of roms does blow (I'm currently trying the only rom avail) but as they said 7.0 is coming out official from Samsung.
I've only had the battery die once, when I forgot to plug in at night and used during day. It definitely lasts forever (I play music over BT speaker for hours at work)

Fast charging is really quick. Slow charge I find using GPS in car phone will slowly die faster then charge.
I'd say 50% takes around an hour or so fast charge.

Nope Bro screen is quite good and here are the other display specifications for J7 Prime -
Display Features J7 Prime
Display Size - 5.5 inch
Resolution - 1920 x 1080 Pixels
Resolution Type - Full HD
GPU - ARM Mali T830 MP1
Display Type - TFT
Display Features J7 2016
Display Size - 5.5 inch
Resolution - 1280 x 720 Pixels
Resolution Type - HD
GPU - ARM Mali-T830 MP1
Display Type - Super AMOLED
Display Colors - 16 M
Bro just see the Pixel sizes for both the phones, J7 Prime has 1920 x 1080 Pixels (Full HD) you will get more depth in the display and J7 16 has Super AMOLED screen but Pixel density is not that good enough and colors are bit vibrant...but Bro after-all it's your choice :good:

I just got the J7 700p from Boost a couple of days ago and honestly, I am loving it. It has a relatively fast charge time (especially if you turn the phone off while charging it) and the battery life is decent. I'm in the process of rooting it so I can install Greenify and stuff to help the battery life and all that jazz.
The phone does get warm with use, though. It's not unbearably hot or anything, but I have noticed it. Another reason I'm rooting.
I switched from the LG Volt 2 and I am not regretting it one bit.

Is a good device. But I like to try roms and new things that do not have to do with samsung. As in my great old s3. I still have not had the pleasure of trying some cute rom that is not touchwiz for this phone. I suppose it would work much better and could take advantage of it, because it is a great device, but limited in some things because of the Samsung firmware. Sorry for my english
I have a Galaxy J700-T with t mobile; running walkerblue stagefright v2. It is a note 7/S7 edge ported rom. Super fast and the best battery life I have ever had. I had ****ty battery before installing this Rom (which has Xposed & amplify.) Now my battery stays for hours.after unplugging after full charge on friday @5am, my phone was only @ 68% when I went to go stream a movie 17 hours later. I was on my phone most of the day.Right now at full charge it says my battery is good for 25.30 hours.it isn't lying. I would go for it. The roms to the j700-t are stable, and the other varients have plenty of stable ROMs as well. Like everything in life there is junk.dont get the junk ROMs.yes there's better phones but if the j7 is what u can get.do it.

Verdict about MiA2 Lite.

Hello! I have been using A2 Lite for about six months now. I liked Mi phones. But I think A2 Lite is not up to mark as per the price charged. Especially, Android One experience. It lacks lots of features as compared to other MI phones in this range running on MIUI.
What are your thoughts on this?

That's the point of this phone. Stock android with no features. That's why you do your research before buying something. You could've bought Redmi 6 Pro which is basically the same device with MIUI rom.

Redmi 5A and Note 4, both have Dt2w, and they both run MIUI.
I bought this phone specifically because it didn't have MIUI on it.
Stock Android, unlockable bootloader. It's the first phone I've had that gets security updates too.
I've had it for a few months now and I still love it.
MIUI suck, give so many features that u might never use.
Those features consume CPU and battery, while stock Android has lesser feature but any feature you want you can just get them from PlayStore.
My last Xiaomi phone (Mi 4i), became super laggy until cannot unlock the screen.
Turn out it was MIUI fault because it became normal again after I flashed it with custom ROM.
From my point of view it's the perfect Android terminal.
I only miss one feature from MIUI : Scheduled turn on and off :crying:

Try flight mode, almost zero consumption. -+1%/night
This phone absolutely lives up to its price point of the $159 I purchased two of them at. Great screen, great battery life, decent processor that can handle mostly everything except high end gaming, metal body, 2 of 3 American LTE bands for T-Mobile, FM radio, IR blaster, security updates monthly with Android One. MIUI is a dumpster fire and if you wanted MIUI you should've bought a Redmi.
It's a great phone.
I'm still wondering why so many people who prefer MIUI over stock android bought the A2 Lite instead of the Redmi 6 Pro which is even cheaper. Personally, I wouldn't even touch a MIUI phone with a pair of pliers.

I am one of the users who has the problem of slow wifi in 2.4ghz when the bt or gps is active. The problem arises from the month of December following the update to android P. From December to today Xiaomi has not produced any patch to solve this serious problem. For me this is a serious bug and leads me to say that it was not a good buy.

I flashed a custom rom on mine and have no such problem, actually no complains about the device. It's just hardware, with a proper OS on it (stock is never that) it works really good.
I bought this smartphone right after it was available version 4/64. I can tell is the best smartphone i never had, The best quality/price ratio, Battery last 9 hours sot, now you can install many custom rom, gcam makes photos great.... its fast and the display is great. Battery life is pretty bad in Pie...In Oreo, I used to easily get 2 days+ battery life in mid to low usage...Now in 9.1, I get less than a day with the same usage...When I fully charge my battery to 100%, it shows only like 19-20 hours remaining which is pathetic for a 5000 mAH battery phone...Like for example, my phone is now at 70% charge & it's showing only 12 hours left...
I'm hoping to get Android 10 soon & hoping that it will bring back the battery life like Oreo but over the years, with every other phones I had, I have noticed that every higher android version only decreased the battery life, never improved on it or even provided the same battery life like their earlier version...

Don't update to 9.1.0.333 it sucks!
Apps crashing and wireless connection horrible.
I sent an email to Huawei a week ago and no response!
I've had no issues at all with the latest update.
I really feel like going all the way back to Oreo...Pie 9.0 & 9.1 both have horrible battery life...I'm now on 9.1.0.333 & I'm having to charge everyday even though I'm a very light user....After a full charge, battery is not even lasting 24 hours...In Oreo, I easily used to get 2 days+ with the same usage...
I feel like the 5000 mAH specification of the battery is either fake or is of very poor quality...
That is a strange one. I am also a medium to light user and can get longer than a day between charges.
One thing I always do after a major update is do 2 factory resets. One after the other. Then reload all my apps.
Will do the same if we get Android 10. May seem over the top and maybe unnecessary, but it works for me..

After a major update, I always do factory resets even like 4-5 times all at once just to be sure enough to clean everything up...I know it may sound like silly to factory reset so many times at one go but I'm doing that from Oreo & will continue doing that in Android 10 also...
Problem is, even after doing several factory resets & installing apps, for first few days or even weeks it shows good battery life left when checking the battery section of the phone but after sometime, let's say like after 1-1.5 months, the battery life gets bad again...
As an example, I recharged my phone yesterday (31st Dec) at 11 PM & currently it's 9 PM of 1st January & the battery life is at 35% now & showing about 8 hours left & all I did from yesterday was using FB & Whatsapp & that too not heavily as I mostly use my lappy to come online...
It's not at all possible for me to keep doing factory resets every month to get the proper battery life back...Oreo didn't have this problem for me...Yes after a period, the battery life used to get deteriorated a bit compared to a newly installed OS but definitely not to this extent like Pie...
Happy New Year to Everyone anyways...May all of your dreams be fulfilled this year & wishing lots of happiness & good health for everyone...
