Trouble with device model change Lineageos 14.1 - Sprint Galaxy S 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So I was trying to change my device model ID Form SM-G900F to SM-G930F to trick an APP to think I'm having a Galaxy S7 but whatever I tried editing build.prop or the console method I couldn't change my device model, but unfortunatly I could change any other info such as the Android Version from 7.1.2 to 8 but the stupid model won't change. Any help?
Thanks Aladie

I don't think you can do that. You can get roms and apps that will mimic the s7 features, wall papers and themes. Most apps go by OS versions in order to run. What exactly are you trying to do?

Galaxy S6 5.1.1 SM-G920FXXU3COI9

Hi all,
I'm visiting the XDA Forums for the first time, so please excuse my ignorance if I'm posting my article in the wrong location, or am not observing an obvious rule. The reason I'm on here is because I'd like to root my device so that I can install custom roms, and remove the spyware pre-installed onto my device (the Computrace rootkit by Absolute Software).
My device specification is in the title.
I've tried unlocking my bootloader (following a great video from HighOnAndroid) however, the option to do so is not present.
Please can some kind soul help me achieve my objective of liberating my device? I would be very grateful.
Kind regards,
A compete idiot.
instead of rooting install debloater from xda and remove unvanted apps via pc.
Thank you for your kind words of assistance; unfortunately, I do not believe that this will help me tick all of my requirements (custom ROMs). Also, I believe that the Computrace spyware is so low level that this is not really achievable (although I could be mistaken).
I should also mention that my device was supplied by EE (Everything Everywhere) within England (UK - United Kingdom).

Just flash Unikernel with Odin (Get the odin version), than you'll have access to root and a custom kernel. From there you can install TWRP (make sure you have the correct one for g920f) using odin again, with TWRP then you can flash a custom kernel. Be warned though as you will lose your WiFi Calling capabilities.
Thank you. Are there any video tutorials an idiot like myself can follow? I quite often make school-boy errors. Also, will this trip KNOX?
It appears from an article I have read (http://www.galaxys6edgeupdate.com/how-to-root-galaxy-s6-511-update-unikernel/) the model I specified in the title is not supported. Do you know something that has not been explained here? Or was your suggestion slightly incorrect (although I am grateful for your intended objective to help)?

Has anyone a solution to this challenge? Or is this something that is too difficult for the rooting community?
Many thanks in advance!

UniKernel works most models (Including g920f) and it doesn't matter what version you are on as long as you are on 5.1.1 (which you are).
Thank you Rekan_! I'll give it a try
Hi I'm new and lost. I've been searching on how to root my s6 on 5.1.1 and build number G920FXXU3COI9 but i can't find anything clear. Any tutorials i can use.

ROOT a fake S6 ?!

Hello everyone,
I read several forums, so I installed cpu-z to know on what mtk my phonewas running. Strangely I was on Exynos Octa 7420. So I put my phone in download mode, and appeared a Chinese menu (that's how I know I have a fake s6).
So I would like to know, is there a way to install a recovery and a rom on a phone like this ?!
PS: model number is sm-g920l on lollipop 5.0.2
I think you can try kingroot because supports a lot of smartphones, and if the root method works then you can try follow this guide for switching to supersu

i think its just fake info keep in mind they still can trick apps to show fake info if you want to root it without knowing what are you doing it may end up dead forever
I found that it's a mtk mobile. But my version (mt6735) is unrootable ... Any idea why ?!
Why so you even have a fake device? How about returning it for a real one?

There are a few root methods for this chipset, you need to make sure the bootloader is unlocked though 1st before trying. I had a quick google for root methods and did see a few possible working ones.

I've got a SM-G920W8 with telus (candian) and yes I've tried but It says I need to purchase to root which I really shouldn't have to do because there are so many other apps that are free but none of which support my build.

Samsung Galaxy S9+ Clone Question (ROM)

Hello,
I got a clone of S9+ and I was wondering if it's possible to re-flash another ROM. I want to do this because security patterns doesn't seem to work and it has some bugs with the UI. Also, is it possible to flash an original Samsung ROM?
Really thanks for your time, appreciate your help !

No, Samsung official firmware will not work.
Is flashing another device's firmware possible? yes...
Is it probable that you'll actually find a compatible firmware? no.
You'd have to identify everything about all of your hardware components and hardware features, then find a firmware for another device that has all of the exact same hardware. But finding a firmware from a different device that has all the same hardware is pretty much impossible.
Basically, you'll be looking for a needle in a haystack in a field of haystacks and then even if you do find a compatible firmware, it will have to be modified in some manner to work on your device.

Any way to get T-mobile VoLTE on the A8 with a GSI?

Hi,
I'm wondering if there is any way to get the panama version of the A8 to have VoLTE support on T-Mobile in the USA with a GSI? My Moto X4 battery is dying... So I dug out my A8 and am trying to get it working.
I found another post that suggested changing the CSC by installing it from another phone that has a USA version and that person posted some files but I'm not using the stock ROM and its not a good idea to randomly flash random zips you find on the forums without asking first.
I also don't think CSC applies to non stock roms?
Any help would be great!

i havent had a non-stock ROM on my A8, but a GSI doesnt seem like it would even be capable of supporting a CSC as they are carrier specific. Dunno man.

What about just removing all the google and samsung junk from the stock rom is that possible? How would I do that?

the GSI is supposed to be stripped of as much samsung stuff as possible which follows the course of the AOSP from where it really got the idea from which has always been about being as pure of an android experience as possible. Even the term GSI stands for Generic System Image, that being said tho, the phone would be a really interesting paperweight without the google stuff

Yeah the GSI is stripped of all the google stuff, but I was thinking perhaps I could recreate the sort of lineage os type experience by stripping out all the google nonsense, like the store, the assistant etc. and samsung junk but using a stock samsung rom as the base that way I could find some way to swap a different CSC and get VoLTE and Wifi Calling working. I've seen other threads around where people have used a CSC from a different model to get theirs working.

if you want to do that, just flash lineage and magisk, then get titanium backup pro and freeze or delete whatever you dont want
