SHT-W09 - Schubert W09 / W09A 8.4" MediaPad M5 WiFi

8.0.0.156 - Version

This will get your device back to 100% stock.
This was the only firmware package that I managed to get a bricked device up and running with. Once extracting the zip, review the document ReleaseDoc\SHT Software Upgrade Guideline.doc for install instructions, but for me it was as simple as:
Extract the zip file
Copy the dload folder from Software\ into the root of a formatted Micro SD Card (as is, do not extract any other zip files in dload)
Reboot into the EMUI Recovery (from a powered off state: press and hold the Vol+ and Vol-, then press Power)
Wait...
On my device, I believe this kept the bootloader unlocked, but restored everything else including any custom recovery.

Did you need to have the bootloader unlocked first before you did this?
Ie can I do this to a Chinese M5 8.4 to change the firmware from Chinese to US without the bootloader unlocked?

You don't need to have an unlocked bootloader. However, I do not know if you can go from Chinese to US. I only flashed the stock firmware that was specific to my device. You can give it a try, if it fails you can revert back to the China stock firmware which I also posted here: China Variant Stock

this worked for me, i couldn't get any of the firmware finder ones to install. was able to unlock bootloader with multi-tool 8. (dc-unlocker gave me the wrong key) and was able to root with twrp and magisk 17.
thanks

Okay, I will try to do this downgrade over the holidays and report back the results to see if it works for me. I have the same model and don’t want to pay $30Euro to unlock it. Will DC-Unlocker work after I downgrade? I believe that I need to unlock the boot loader prior to rooting the device....

Rollback EVA-L09/L19, from Android 7.0 EMUI 5.0 to Android 6.0 EMUI 4.1

Hello !
I found on the Romanian Huawei page this package, used to go back from 7.0 Nougat EMUI 5.0 to 6.0 Loli EMUI 4.1.
UPDATE: for both L09 and L19
It contains a pdf with instructions.
Advice from other users: use an older version of Android 6 MM
I am not responsible for any bricks.
http://consumer.huawei.com/ro/support/downloads/detail/index.htm?id=91624&key0=Mobile%20Phones&key1=Smartphones&key2=EVA-L19
DOWNLOAD
Hit " Thanks" if this helped you
INSTRUCTIONS from the pdf file:
HUAWEI
EVA-LXX EMUI5.0+Android7.0 rollback to EMUI4.1+Android 6.0
Operation instruction
The instruction guides user to roll back from Android7.0 to Android 6.0
1) Roll back operation includes twice SD card update, only through intermediate package
EVA-LXXC900B300, like below:
2) Allow roll back to Huawei official stable release.
Precautions:
1. Make sure the current system version on your phone is an official Huawei version based on Android 7.0. If your phone has been updated with a non-official version, the rollback may fail and even cause unexpected problems.
2. Make sure your phone system version has not been unlocked or rooted.
3. Your personal data will be erased during the rollback. Be sure to back up all your important data beforehand.
4. Prepare a micro SD card with available storage space at least 8 GB.
5. Make sure the battery level is higher than 30%.
6. The rollback includes two local ROM flashing procedures, first from Android 7.0 to the intermediate package version and then from the intermediate package version to Android 6.0.
Step 1: Back up data.
Your personal data will be erased during the rollback. Be sure to back up all your important data beforehand.
To back up data to your micro SD card, go to Tools > Backup, touch backup, and follow the onscreen instructions.
Step 2: Update your phone to the intermediate package version.
Obtain the EVA-LXX intermediate package (UPDATE.APP) by visiting the official EMUI website or calling the customer service hotline.
Load the UPDATE.APP package to the dload folder under your micro SD card root directory. If there is no dload folder under the directory, please create one. (Do not load the UPDATE.APP package to the internal storage.)
When the phone is powered off, press and hold the volume up, volume down, and power buttons simultaneously to enter forcible update mode. Release the buttons only after the rollback starts. Do not operate the phone during the rollback.
Step 3: Confirm the intermediate package version.
When the phone is powered on, go to Settings > About phone and check whether the displayed version number contains EVA-LXXC900B300.
Step 4: Update the phone from the intermediate package version to Android 6.0.
Download an older version of Android 6.0 full package (UPDATE.APP) for the EVA-LXX from the EMUI official website. Load the UPDATE.APP package to the dload folder under your micro SD card root directory. (Do not load the UPDATE.APP package to the internal storage.)
When the phone is powered off, press and hold the volume up, volume down, and power buttons simultaneously to enter forcible update mode. Release the buttons only after the rollback starts. Do not operate the phone during the rollback.
Step 5: Confirm the system version and restore data( better not).
When the phone is powered on, go to Settings > About phone and check whether the displayed EMUI version is EMUI 4.1 and Android version is 6.0.
Go to Tools > Backup, locate the desired backup record, and follow the onscreen instructions to restore.
It's everywhere now. Here in Bulgaria too. So hard to go back. Wish HiSuite was better and just connect your phone and install stable version, something like iTunes. I am not so advanced on Android, recently switched from iPhone and really want to test the Nougat on this beautiful phone, but if it's bad I will have to buy SD card and do all this crap just to get to stable os... Ain't worth it.
P.S: What this part means "6. The rollback includes two local ROM flashing procedures, first from Android 7.0 to the intermediate package version and then from the intermediate package version to Android 6.0." What is intermediate package version?
it means that it's a 2 step downgrade.
first you flash the update.app in the zip attached (intermidiate package ).
then you flash your desired version of Android 6.
it's not that difficult. and you can do it from the internal memory also via the 3 button combo method
It worked with my L19C432 that was running L19C432B322. Thanks.
Confirmed that it works on L09C432 to, so it's not just for L19.
I can go back to 6.0 but I can not apply theme how to solve please help

Wonderful news, thank you!
It doesn't work with me : the rollback of B300 to B182 failed.
EDIT : In fact, it didn't work because I didn't have enough battery...
Trying this now I'm L09 C432, what a ballache!

Did you found a solution? I am experiencing the same problem. After downgrading to Android 6 themes don't work. Also i've installed L19C432B180 and when searching for an update its saying its the latest version. I upgraded to Nougat from B182 wich was an OTA update and now i can receive it anymore.
I think Nougat did something to system partion and now after downgrade not everything its working properly.
I'm on L09C432 in UK.. and was considering upgrading..
Is 7.0 N That bad... Ive read its a Leaked version, which usually means Beta... but Ive read a few forums where people are rolling back
Would you recommend staying on B182 for now...
The official beta is quite good, but you can't get in the list anymore. From what i have read, the leaked one is not that ok. I recommend 182 for now

I had a nightmare with up and downgrade last night. I thought i've broken my new phone but i've managed it to get it working again without any problems (themes also do work here).
What have i all done, for the reason someone else have troubles with downgrading.
Tip: Do not try to backup anything, it will most likely will make things even worse. Wipe and flash without later importing backups from different builds.
My phone: P9 (L19) DualSim
New phone, directly unlocked bootloader and removed OEM protection
Installed TWRP 3.0.2.0
Opened recovery and installed directly the BETA image for my L19
Until this point all works fine. BETA image is buggy, keyboard not working and freezes sometimes
Decided to go back to stock
TWRP is not working anymore, stuck in "Your device is booting"
Always running into Huawei eRecovery, where you can do noting. Repair always fails
Downloaded latest stock image for my L19 and tried the here suggested steps
Note: Before doing the "dload" flash you need to flash stockrecovery, as far as i know and other threads suggest it too
First Update.app flash (from the zip file here) worked fine
Second Update.app flash from the stock rom stuck at 5% and closed with an error
Hours of trying different things, all not working (Other TWRP recovery version with encryption support, wipes, resets, etc...)
Last try: Download an older stock image of my L19. Flash successfully done. Phone boots now into stock rom :good:
Locked Bootloader again (i guess it have been done by the stock rom flash)
Now i'm completely back to stock - Which is currently the best available rom for this phone, IMHO.
Conclusion: The most headache i got from downloading the wrong (too new) stock image. Trying an older one have solved my flash problems.

I found the same procedure to work. What really puzzled me was that the flashing of update.app "crashed" at 5%. I also tried all sort of solutions, with only new error messages as result.
The final solution to flash an older image was not exactly obvious
i will update OP. thank you for sharing
I tried 2 versions, still gives me errors. Could someone provide the exact version of the rom used in rollback?

[SOLVED from FRD-AL00 to FRD-L09] Soft-bricked honor 8 FRD-AL00

I've an honor 8 FRD-AL00. I've fastboot installed and I'm able to access it. I'm also able to access eRecovery.
I've used SRK Tool to change the oeminfo and custom.bin. After trying to install the official L09 I think I bricked my phone.
Here are the steps I've done:
- Unlock bootloader
- Install recovery 6.0
- Root
- Changed oeminfo and custom.bin
- Reboot and tried to install a stock recovery.img boot.img and system.img (which failed while installing it) from offical L09 UPDATE.APP.
Current status: unable to boot either to recovery or android. what should I do in order to get my phone or install the L09 update or at least something that I can use? I've also used the 3 button trick with the dload/UPDATE.APP in the memory card but the phone doesn't show the loading screen it gets stuck into the huawei logo.
I've then tried to install CM13. I've successfully installed twrp-recovery.img but I'm not able to access it (button + vol down nor button + vol up).
Thanks for the help

Doesn't work, it gets stuck at the huawei logo.
After a couple of tries I was able to get TWRP installed so I'm able to access and modify the filesystem.
I've noticed that, for some reason, my phone has the "default.prop" set up to "ro.product.model=eva" shouldn't this be FRD's or something like that?
Can someone provide me a copy of their /default.prop file so I could compare?

I also have the same mistakes. Help please ...
For now a moment there is no solution for those issues - the only way is to change back to AL00.
Before you do, please install HiSuite, this tool installs all necessary drivers as well.
1) Unlock bootloader and install TWRP: https://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-8/how-to/guide-unlock-bootloader-tested-root-t3443946
2) ROOT: Download SuperSU and flash it using TWRP
2.1) Power off, press volume up + power on
2.2) After TWRP loads, click on Install, select SuperSU zip file you just downloaded and flash it
2.3) Reboot
3) Debrand: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JZVsIKtdgV4&t=307s
3.1) This video shows how to debrand P9 but it works on Honor 8 (AL00, AL10, AL09 and AL19)
4) Flash new ROM
4.1) More info about ROMs: https://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-8/how-to/frd-al-00-04-09-10-14-19-differences-t3452924
4.2) ALXX ROM download: https://forum.xda-developers.com/ho...rk-tool-huawei-bootloader-root-t3470823/page3
4.2) LXX ROM download: https://www.androidsage.com/2016/12...rshmallow-emui-5-0-4-1-stock-firmware-update/
Hope this helps but please note FRD-L09 ROM running on FRD-AL00 phone is unstable.

Huawei MediaPad T2 7.0 not Pro: BGO-DL09 (BG Oh, not Zero, DL Zero 9)

Hi, sorry if I posted in the wrong section. But I cant seem to find any info on TWRP or even official Update.app for this MediaPad T2 7.0 not Pro BGO-DL09. Things done:
1. Bootloader unlocked. (Huawei unlock bootloader page, fastboot oem unlock [the code] ok)
2. Update to the latest version via OTA. (Android 6.0 Emui 4.0 Build number BGO-DL09C209B008)
3. Fastboot boot twrp that i borrowed from mediapad m2 8.0 (official twrp) (not working, operation not allowed)
4. Cant seem to find this particular BGO-DL09C209B008 in official Update.app format.
5. How to actually install and patch boot.img for magisk if I dont have TWRP?
6. Every time I fully shut down the device and reboot it, that dm-verity warning showed up. How to get rid of it, without relocking the bootloader? Will flashing TWRP wipe the dm-verity screen?
7. No. I cannot just use any Update.app that I can get, just because the front is BGO-DL09. The region code is different. See the C209? Unless I can get my hands on any C209 region firmware, Im not going to cross region flash it.
Any help is very appreciated. Thank you.
Sorry to bump. Is there anyone here using this BGO-DL09 and successfully find the official recovery firmware package? need the file, just to be safe before doing anything. yep bootloader is unlocked already.
Have you found any solutions?

How to downgrade firmware?

I have a new SHT-AL09 with 172 firmware and a locked bootloader.
This firmware prohibits DC-Unlocker from reading the bootloader unlock code.
How do I downgrade to a previous firmware?
Try HuRUpdater: https://forum.xda-developers.com/mediapad-m5/how-to/unbrick-mediapad-m5-install-otas-t3856312
You should be able to install TWRP even with locked bootloader. Download the full OTA and follow the HuRUpdater instructions.

I think there is very little risk. Even when the downgrade fails, you should be able to just flash 172 again with HuRUpdater to restore back the original state. Don’t try to rollback too far, install the last version prior to 172 and try dc unlocker again.
I asked on a german Forum and got the response that TWRP cannot be installed with locked BL - which I find somewhat logical - however, I am reaching for the unlikely event that I can get an open Bootloader somehow....
I am a little confused by the instructions. I have to put the TWRP.img in the folder on the SD Card together with the HuRUpdater.zip file and the firmware zip files. But then what? How do I flash anything?

Firmware Finder apparently does not work with EMUI8 anymore.
And there is no rollback package available for the M5.
I have always found a solution for these kind of problems on XDA (and I have had a bricked device or two) but for the moment I am at a loss.
Guess I will have to learn to live without root and with the stock Huawei firmware...

Sorry mate, tough luck. ? I think the hardware of the device is pretty nice, but the stock firmware is so full of crap and spyware, totally unacceptable.
when downgrading using dload, check for xloader version first.

I jut downgraded my M5 AL19-CMR 8.0.0.172 back to 8.0.0.161 without any problems.
I used the firmware file from https://androidhost.ru/ I used the 8.0.0.161 dated 17.07.2018, I am in Germany and have as it seems the european version of the tablet!

For my SHT-AL09 there is no older firmware on androidhost.ru than B172.
I have downloaded the B163 and B152 firmware through Huawei Firmware Finder and I can extract it with HuaweiUpdateExtractor but then what?

I have a new SHT-AL09 with 172 firmware and a locked bootloader.
This firmware prohibits DC-Unlocker from reading the bootloader unlock code.
How do I downgrade to a previous firmware?

From my latest findings:
Bootloader need to be unlocked for DOWNGRADE to sucess in firmware mode with a working dload service repair firmware.
With locked bootloader you'll only be able to DOWNGRADE in eRecovery mode with the latest firmware approved (It will be a downgrade only if said version is the latest approved fetched in eRecovery and inferior to yours current)
I did not find yet how the latest firmware shown/available in eRecovery is fetched into eRecovery. I think it happens in normal mode sometimes when you're connected online. You'll then have to reboot later to eRecovery to be shown...
Now, for your SHT-AL09 B172 with august 2018 secutity patches, the only way to downgrade is to get your unlock code and vice&versa.
Luckyly, third-party sellers are just starting to provide working bootloader's unlock code online for around 30~50€.
New devices are supported.
You just pay, gave them Model ID, IMEI1, Serial, Product ID and you'll get your code within the next hours.
You just pay, gave them Model ID, IMEI1, Serial, Product ID and you'll got it within the next hours. I already tested it on few devices.
FunkyHuawei does it for 130€ per device with other services included.

I am also interested in rooting M5. Where you able to downgrade the tablet from B172 to B161?
No
I am also looking for a way to downgrade my Mediapad M5.
I have Hauwei MediaPad M5 CMR-AL09 (C432) currently running 8.0.0.192. dc-unlocker does not work with this version so I can not unlock bootloader.
This is what I have done:
* Format external sdcard into exfat. I used my Ubuntu Linux computer for this, sudo mkfs.exfat /dev/sdx1.
* Put the empty sdcard into the tablet.
* Download android app "Firmware Finder for Huawei" and I choose CMR-AL09C432B161 (8.0.0.161) FullOTA-MF. Downloaded that into update.zip file.
* I use android app FX File Explorer to get read/write access to the mediacard and to create the dload folder.
* I used android app FX File Explorer to extract only UPDATE.APP file into mediacard and the dload folder. The file is around 4.2GB in size when extracted. I also tried to put all files into dload folder but with the same result below.
* Open dialer and type in *#*#2846579#*#*. Go to software upgrade and choose SDCard upgrade. The tablet will now restart and do the downgrade.
* Problem now is that it goes into 5% and then fails.
Am guessing there is some protection to downgrade into 8.0.0.161 version.
Guys.. Let's solve this. :crying:

Hmhm. I downgraded my Mediapad M5 Pro from 8.0.0.172 to 8.0.0.161
This is what I did:
https://www.android-hilfe.de/forum/...uer-huawei-mediapad-m5-ab-08-2018.892304.html
(short paraphrase of my downgrade-"guide" at android-hilfe.de)
1) check xloader-version
2) Download the potential downgrade from androidfilehost.ru (this worked for me, again, M5 PRO (CMR-AL19), Europe! https://androidhost.ru/byu )
2.1) The structure inside is firmware-name>software>dload
2.2) copy dload onto your SD (root directory)
3)The downgrade-process
3.1) power off the device
3.2) Volume up AND down AND Power Button for some seconds
3.3) Downgrade should start! If folder is not recognized, a Pink screen will appear - just do it from the start.
After rebooting, you should then have the version you wanted to downgrade to.
I have done this several times ( accidently updated once or twice )and it worked without any trouble.
The 5% thing: it stayed at 5% for quite some time. But it always went on after some time, at least for me
I read somewhere, sometime ago that with Firmware Finder the security check that is somewhere included in the file is not removed and therefore you cannot use those files. It seems imperative to me that one uses androidhost.ru (no guarantee that this information is right - so feel free to correct me )
ah, sorry only now I realized that you specified CMR-AL09, we had someone do it for SHT-AL-09, sorry :-/
but why don't you try the files from androidhost.ru (download the correct firmware! I linked the one for the M5 Pro! )
Thanks kev1807 for the input.
I tried the firmware you linked to for Huawei MediaPad M5 CMR-AL09 (C432) version 8.0.0.161. It did not work.
I found the version 8.0.0.190 on androidfilehost.ru and that worked. So I have now downgraded from 8.0.0.192 to 8.0.0.190 but that will not help me much. Downgrading into 8.0.0.161 still does not work.
I was on 8.0.0.192 and manage to use the file
"Huawei MadiaPad M5 CMR-AL19 hw eu Cameron-AL09A 8.0.0.190(C432) Firmware 8.0.0 r1 EMUI8.0 05014XYB [androidhost.ru]"
I have tried these packages but they have not worked.
Huawei MadiaPad M5 CMR-AL09 hw ru Cameron-AL09A 8.0.0.181(C10)Firmware8.0.0r1EMUI8.005014YQD [androidhost.ru]

[BOUNTY] to anyone that can workout and provide a guide to re brand AL00 to L29
I personally pledge £50
And whoever can also figure out a way to enable oem unlocking on the L29 should be in the bounty.
In the past there was a file you flashed in stock recovery that allowed you to downgrade your Android version. I wonder if you can get ahold a similar file for the 20X if you could rebrand with that. Here's how it may be able to get done. Merge the custs (the AL00 and L29) together into a twrp flashable zip and flash it in twrp. Then copy the full L29 rom zip on to your internal storage into a folder called dload. Then fastboot flash the boot, system, recovery etc from the L29 stock rom. Then shut down and hold in vol up + vol down and power to enter emergency recovery mode. Recovery will attempt to flash the full rom that is in the dload folder. If this update doesn't fail then you will be converted. I don't have an AL00 or else I would try this. It's the way we were able to rebrand some Huwei devices in the past.
The updater usually looks for the oeminfo (cust) for the Global version and if it is present along with the original (Chinese cust) the Global update would actually go through (or it would fail at 98 percent on the cust part but still boot) which we could then fix by flashing the L29 cust in fastboot or the merged cust in twrp.

L29 won't work as permission to enable option to unlock bootloader is not accessible .. problem is dat on L29 there is more security added +FRP lock .. AL00 has no FRP .. and no disabled allowance to unlock bootloader.. toggle option is not there so AL00 bootloader can be unlocked...
You can do tricks only with AL00 ..

In the past DCUnlocker could remove FRP and retrieve your bootloader code on most Huawei phones
The .172 update enables OEM unlock on the L29 device. Rebranding could he coming soon. :fingers-crossed:
