Note 8 won't enter ultra power saving mode - AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note 8 Questions & Answers

If I am honest its a mode that I seldom use, but when I was in a bind one day during a training event I discovered that my phone straight up wont enter this mode. The other power saving modes dont even really seem to help much in the way of battery conservation either honestly. Anytime that I try to enter ultra power saving mode I just get on an "android is starting" screen but it never goes past that for some reason. If anyone knows anything about this or has some helpful advice it will be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance.

no need to take battery out of phone .

Ive noticed lots of people taking their battery out of their precious sensations , to go into bootloader or that seemingly pointless SAFE MODE .
there is absolutely no need to do that !!
you can :
turn off "Fast Boot" under settings->power and the phone will power off.
OR if you like the fast boot use the restart option ,but remember it turns it on again, right away.
so restart the device and for bootloader just press VOL down , after its off.
and to go to that safe mode, wait for the phone to turn on again, and press VOL down
take care of your phones..
thanks Elvis_Freshly for your notes. you're right, we're cool.

so lets make it clear for those who missed it:
-the power off is like hibernation in windows, it doesnt really shuts your phone off.
-the restart option does, but it turns it on again, right away.

for bootloader just press VOL down , after its off.

Actually all they have to do is turn off "Fast Boot" and the phone will power off.
Fast boot is what causes the phone to "sleep".
There is no need for bolding your post, as your information is semi-inaccurate in itself.
I know you meant to be helpful but it came across as rude and like they're stupid.
but its crazy to take the battery out every time, and people are doing it.

[Q] ****Galaxy S3* Cant access download mode

ive tried countless time even watched a couple of videos and still my phone wont go into download mode it just turns on normally
Can you go into a bit more detail of what you've tried please mate?
It varies between models and I don't have an S3 handy, but basically turn your phone off, pull the battery and put it back in. Leaving the phone off, hold down the volume up and home buttons, then power on the device, holding down both buttons until download mode appears.
It may also be volume down, instead of volume up.
If worse comes to worst, you may need to grab a USB jig off eBay or somewhere similar, to force it into Dowload mode.
I don't mean to insinuate you haven't alreayd tried the above, your post was just a little lacking in details
Good luck! I'll stay subscribed and wait to hear back from you, although don't be surprised if this gets shifted to the S3 section, where it probably belongs

[Q] Phone lag when battery is low

Has anyone else notice that their M8 is noticeably less responsive when the battery gets low (usually under 15%)? I am aware that the Verizon model does not have the extreme power saving mode feature; however, I noticed something funny. When the battery is low and I go into developer options to turn on high performance mode, it lets me know that I cannot due to power saver being on (see screenshot). When the phone's battery is not low, I do not see this message and I can enable high performance mode. My guess is that the phone is entering some sort of power saving mode automatically when the battery gets low because I notice that it lasts quite long on low battery and is less snappy.
Fast start to finish here. But I'm running custom so.

Can anyone else on stock replicate this issue or did I just get a defective M8? Thanks!

It honestly sounds like power saving mode is kicking in. Which does at 15% on stock if power saving mode is enabled ( not extreme power saving mode just the standard one)
If something weird is going on and it is not providing you with a notification that it is what's happening, next time it happens look at /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/scaling_max_freq if it's at 2265600 then it's not in power saving mode, however if it's at 1190400 then power saver is on. Other signs of power saving mode would "normally" be
Display brightness reduced
Cpu reduced speeds
Vibration feedback turned off
*data connection put to sleep when screen off
Edit:
Turned my power saving mode on and I also can not turn on high performance mode. So I bet that is EXACTLY what's going on.
last edit,
if you have root you can launch the power saving settings ( even tho the option is not there under the power sub menu vzw left all the code in)
to do this from terminal emulator at # am start -a android.intent.action.MAIN -n com.htc.htcpowermanager/com.htc.htcpowermanager.powersaver.PowerSaverActivity
this will launch the settings for power saving mode, and from here you can see if it is set to on, if so just turn it back off.

Thanks for the reply, I agree with you on that one, I'm pretty sure power saving mode is being turned on somehow. I'm not rooted and on stock, so I don't have a toggle for power saver mode. Any idea how it could have turned itself on? Aside from rooting, is there anything short of a factory reset that I can do to get rid of it?

Well I would first ask if any of the things I said happen when you phone goes below 15% such as
Display brightness reduced
Cpu reduced speeds
Vibration feedback turned off
*data connection put to sleep when screen off
Some of these you can check without root. Like the screen gets dim or the vibration turns off. If so then let me know.
Theoretically a factory reset would clear it. However you could try to clear data from the settings app.

+1 on Power Save coming on.....I am on Viper so I see it is turned on at 15% with the quick settings, so I tap it to turn it off (which I know there isn't a stock equivalent)....but when it is on...the phone slows like a turd.

Stuck in safe mode

I Have a SM-G920P that only boots into safe mode, i've tried lifting the volume down button up thinking it was stuck causing it to boot into safe mode, but no luck. The volume does not go down at all while using the phone nor can you use the volume down button.
what can i do? i've been searching high an low, im very limited in safe mode with what i can do with this phone.
can i root it? can i remove a file that registers the volume down button? any help would be greatly appreciated!
also this phone is a sprint phone, i no longer have sprint. this phone has a bad imei and is no longer under warranty or any repair service.
anything? is this just a paper weight?
Sounds like you have a hardware related issue here, unless you can get that fixed there's not much else you can do.
