Per App Setting to Override Alert Slider Setting - OnePlus 6 Questions & Answers

Most of my time my phone is on vibrate, as I work in an office and don't want to disturb people. But in vibrate I don't get notifications if my phone isn't right next to me, like when it's plugged in to charge.
Is there a way without using xposed to allow certain apps (Accubattery, phone calls, messages, gmail priority, hangouts) to make a notification sound while the slider is in vibrate? I have an inkling it can possibly be done through a combination of DND and the slider, but am unsure on how I would configure it.
Thought or suggestions?
Edit: Also, possibly Tasker or Macro Droid could do it? If so, how?

Tasker shall be easy.
In Tasker create a profile - select apps you want to have sound.
Then in Task, make a new task and select audio and set it to whatever you want..
You are done!

It would be an pro's job but yeah I have seen people linking Tasker with each and every possible event going on your device. But I am not one.

[REQ] App to override silent mode for certain contacts

I've been searching for an app that will allow me to designate specific contacts or groups to override silent mode. For instance, I love sleep. I don't get enough of it. BUT, my girlfriend or boss or family need to be able to get a hold of me, so when they call or text it will notify me, even in silent mode. I believe Blackberry's have a feature like this.
this gave me the idea
http://forums.crackberry.com/f99/can-i-assign-contacts-override-silent-398899/
Ideas?
There is an app called auto ring that will do that. I use it for the same reasons

Just tried it. Perfect!
i use foxyring, lets you set sleep hours, auto silencing, emergency contact list that can ring thru sleep hours with special ringtones. It can even do location based audio profiles. want your phone to auto switch to vibrate when you walk into work? it can do that. It even audio samples your current environment and adjusts your ringtone based on the ambient noise in the area you are located.

I love this app, but I wish it could do something else though, and having a hard time trying to search on it.
Just like Auto ring allows for certain contacts to override the state of the phone, I would like certain APPS to be able to override the state of the phone, for example, I would like my weather app to send its notification sound when weather alerts come out, regardless if the phone is on silent or vibrate ...
Sorry for hijacking the thread ...

Manage ringtone with tasker?

Hey. This is my first unrooted phone and tasker is giving me a hard time. Has anybody managed to create tasks to turn silent mode on and off and to vibrate? Mind sharing them?

There's a silent mode action which you can set to on (silent), off or vibrate.

Thanks. I know of that action, it doesn't work on my z3. Does it on yours?

All the info you need in my prior post. The action doesn't work. The task works, other actions are executed when they should, the "silent mode" action isn't. Does the silent mode action work on your z3?

Well, no, there was no info; you just said that the action "didn't work". I couldn't tell from that whether the audio icon was changing, for example. Anyway, In my case, the icon changes and no sound is produced. This was me sending myself an email; perhaps different sound sources don't get silenced. I did notice a sound the other day when my phone was in silent mode (can't remember if it was Tasker provoked silence), which I thought was a bit crap; silent should mean silent.
Mine works fine. I imported my tasks from my Nexus 5 and, apart from the odd one that used root, they work fine including all the ones that use silent mode.
Silent mode DOES NOT affect the media audio channel, is it possible something is using that to play your notifications? Try adding the 'Media Volume' action as well and setting it to 0.

Great! I have an audiofile as ringetone, another one as message alert. Works now.
It doesn't work after all, media volume set to 0, silent mode on and the phone still rings.
Try installing AudioManager temporarily and use it to test what volumes are being adjusted by tasker.
Working fine here as well. I just imported my tasks from my OPO. Unrooted.

Silent mode in Lollipop?

Hey all,
So I've been running Lollipop for a few days now and till now I haven't find the silent mode. So even without vibration for calls.
Right now I have two choices:
1. Completly silent. But this will also silence my alarm which I don't want.
2. Let it vibrate. Which I don't want for phone calls.
I want my phone to be silenced but the alarm excluded.
Normally users could hit the volume down key one more time and put their smartphone into silent mode where it won’t even vibrate.
I've been searching for days for this simple option. Can someone help me out?
Thanks in advance.

Priority Mode.
Under "Interruptions" turn off everything and the only thing that will make a sound when the phone is in Priority Mode is the Alarm.

And the low battery sound and the charging sound and a few other system sounds. Priority mode is a poor substitution for a real silent mode.
I can't believe Google took silent mode out.
What the F were they thinking?

Also Viber,Whatsapp etc. will ignore it. Poor feature do far.

Set volume to 1 (Just before vibrate mode). Sit and reboot phone. You will now be in silent mode.
It's messed up for sure. I had it set to "priority" with everything unchecked so just my alarm would come through but some dumb Facebook notification woke me up in the middle of the night. Wasn't amused.
The only way to silent the phone except for alarms is to put it in airplane mode? Ridiculous.
Looking forward to some custom ROMs to fix up this mess.
This is my main reason for not updating to 5.0 so far... All I want is to be able to set the phone to totally silent, but still have the LED light for notifications without having to download something like LightFlow to do it. I like having nothing make noise/vibrate, but still have the LED blink when something comes in.

I developed an app: Call Filter Alarm. Its sleep mode can silence all notifications (also whatsapp and viber), even on Lollipop.
Hope it helps

Hi guys!
I too have the same problem and no app helped me... so I searched far and wide and I finally found a simple trick With my knowledge I have created an app:
Silent Mode Lollipop (search for it.merkcoolapp.silentmodelollipopfree in the Google Play Store to find it)
It only does one thing: switch from normal mode to silent mode, on any version of Android (of course, including Lollipop).
Remember, it's the 1.0 version
I hope it helps!

I made a small workaround that is very handy!
I used Nova Activities widget to create a shortcut to the Sounds and Notificaitions --> Interruptions activity.
Whenever I want to sleep, I simply tap the widget on my homescreen, turn off Calls as priority notifications and go to sleep with peace of mind
As soon as I wake up, I simply enable Calls as priority interruptions again by using the Nova widget
I know this is a workaround but this is the best way I found so far to solve this irritating problem on Android Lollipop.
I would also love to hear about any workarounds that anyone else on XDA has hacked together! Probably whip out a dialog UI using Tasker?
Hit thanks if my post helped you
There is an app called True Silent Mode which supposedly adds back silence like we are all used to. Alternatively you can try a different ROM. CM12 has the usual "silent but with alarms on" mode.

Turn off the notification sound on system level

I have an OPO 3 and I was wondering if there's a possibility to turn off the notification sound for all app, but I would like to retain ringtone sound as well as vibration.
Normally on Samsung S6, there's a possibility to do this when you press the volume rocker key.
I am rooted and have Xposed installed. I tried Ringer & Notification Volume unlink xposed module but that doesn't seem to work.
This is something that I am missing very badly, its tragic that google didn't encompass this feature by default.
Is there an alternate solution? I do not want to disable it per app basis but rather on the system level.

Put notification slider in priority mode and configure only calls in slider priority mode menu. They will shut up all notifications except calls.

Well that does the work but it also switches off the vibration. I want vibration for notification and calls to be enabled.
I don't know how then. Try custom slider mod from @weaton. It's very useful but i don't know if there's present this feature.
The way I do it is, to set notification tone to "none"
at a system level.

Programmatically zeroing out the ringer volume?

My OnePlus 7 Pro (GM-1917) is running OOS 10.3.8. My device is rooted via Magisk 23.0.
When I set the Ringer Volume to 0 (zero), the phone still makes a ringing sound when a call comes in. It's low volume, but I want it to be zero volume ... i.e., totally silent. And I want to control this programmatically, and not with any kinds of button presses or keystrokes. In other words, I want to do it with some sort of internal shell command, or possibly with Tasker or Termux or something like that.
This is not the same as "Do Not Disturb". I still want notifications to make a sound, and I still want other sounds to be audible. This only pertains to the Ringer Volume and no other sounds.
And I don't want the Ringer Volume to be permanently silent. I want to be able to turn the Ringer on and off under certain conditions, and when it is off, I want it to be totally and completely silent.
Is there any way to programmatically switch my Ringer Volume between silent and audible on my device and OS?
Thank you very much in advance.

A silent MP3? I have used such a ringtone in the past but haven't switched programatically.

Well, actually why you need that programmatically when you have many apps to do that even you can set the time durations for silent and loud.
But just a question I am feeling crazy to know....why you don't want that profile slider on the side. DND-Silent-Ringing...that already comes with 3 mods and you can customize it...

Thank you.
I'm controlling this with Tasker, based upon various conditions that Tasker can detect: where I'm located, the time of day, etc. So, I want to be able to handle this without any human interaction.
