[REQ] App to override silent mode for certain contacts - Android Apps and Games

I've been searching for an app that will allow me to designate specific contacts or groups to override silent mode. For instance, I love sleep. I don't get enough of it. BUT, my girlfriend or boss or family need to be able to get a hold of me, so when they call or text it will notify me, even in silent mode. I believe Blackberry's have a feature like this.
this gave me the idea

Ideas?

There is an app called auto ring that will do that. I use it for the same reasons

Just tried it. Perfect!

i use foxyring, lets you set sleep hours, auto silencing, emergency contact list that can ring thru sleep hours with special ringtones. It can even do location based audio profiles. want your phone to auto switch to vibrate when you walk into work? it can do that. It even audio samples your current environment and adjusts your ringtone based on the ambient noise in the area you are located.

I love this app, but I wish it could do something else though, and having a hard time trying to search on it.
Just like Auto ring allows for certain contacts to override the state of the phone, I would like certain APPS to be able to override the state of the phone, for example, I would like my weather app to send its notification sound when weather alerts come out, regardless if the phone is on silent or vibrate ...
Sorry for hijacking the thread ...

[APP] [IDEA] [REQUEST] Do Not Disturb

I use my phone as my alarm clock. I keep it chargeing on my bedside table. I do not have a house/landline so this is my only option for communication.
It would be nice if at night, when I'm sleeping, i can set my phone (via app or setting) to a "do not disturb" type state.
In this state, i would basically like all phone calls routed to a special voice mail, that will state to the caller that i am unavailable, and to leave a message. However if it is an emergency, give the caller an option to bypass the do not disturb state and actually ring my phone.
Same with Text Messages. I would like all text messages intercepted, and responded to via text in the same fashion, with the same option for the caller to bypass the do not disturb state and actually ring/notify me of the call/text etc.
And of course, put all other notifications to silent mode etc.
Then in the morning, i can check all notifications, phone, text etc, and see what i missed.
I hope i explained this well enough.
I would like to be able to sleep without interruption, but if something important happens, or an emergency happens, i can still be gotten a hold of.
there is an app called silent time lite that I use, it wont route your calls or anything, but between the times you states the phone will go into silent mode (vibrate or not, you decide) you can also have exceptions like if your mother calls at 3 am or something. Its free in the market, i use this app for school, put my schedule in there and it automatically muted my phone for classes

Hmm, exceptions for contacts eh? Might be the next best thing if i cant find, or someone create an app that'll do the other stuff.
Thanks for the suggestion, ill look into it.
uh... How about... AIRPLANE MODE
I like the stshannon's idea : this kind of "filter" people can "bypass" only for emmergency...I've been loking for that for long time !
@nopenope : the aireplaine mode doesn't allow this kind of redirection I think...
timerriffic is awesome and free. once you've got your profiles all setup you can set what goes off, volume, vibrate etc... I use it to turn off notifications at night but ring my phone at 100% when I'm "on call" for work or 40% when i'm not.
different day settings too, m-f and weekends.

sound profiles for nighttime? Only have phone ring?

coming from a BB, my cell is all i use, is there a way at night i can shut off all sound notifications except the phone itself? i dont want to be woken up all the time with emails coming in, and or texts..
is there an option? or an app? widget?
thanks!
The best suggestion I can make is a app called Setting Profiles. The Light version only allows for one profile while paid version allows for more.
One can make profiles based on location, time, calendar events, etc. I use it to silence my phone when I have meetings indicated on my calendar.
Two more apps are PhoneWeaver (auto and manual switching) and Quick Profiles (manual switching only).
One more app you can check out with auto changing of sound profiles is Sound Manager. Works very well.

[Q] Looking for

I'm trying to find a Profile Manager App that will let me silence my phone, but still allow my phone to ring only when certain contacts call me.
WHOISIT looked to be promising, but my VIP's don't ring and after I take my phone off Silent, all of the volumes stay minimized.

Silent mode in Lollipop?

Hey all,
So I've been running Lollipop for a few days now and till now I haven't find the silent mode. So even without vibration for calls.
Right now I have two choices:
1. Completly silent. But this will also silence my alarm which I don't want.
2. Let it vibrate. Which I don't want for phone calls.
I want my phone to be silenced but the alarm excluded.
Normally users could hit the volume down key one more time and put their smartphone into silent mode where it won’t even vibrate.
I've been searching for days for this simple option. Can someone help me out?
Thanks in advance.

Priority Mode.
Under "Interruptions" turn off everything and the only thing that will make a sound when the phone is in Priority Mode is the Alarm.

And the low battery sound and the charging sound and a few other system sounds. Priority mode is a poor substitution for a real silent mode.
I can't believe Google took silent mode out.
What the F were they thinking?

Set volume to 1 (Just before vibrate mode). Sit and reboot phone. You will now be in silent mode.
It's messed up for sure. I had it set to "priority" with everything unchecked so just my alarm would come through but some dumb Facebook notification woke me up in the middle of the night. Wasn't amused.
The only way to silent the phone except for alarms is to put it in airplane mode? Ridiculous.
Looking forward to some custom ROMs to fix up this mess.
This is my main reason for not updating to 5.0 so far... All I want is to be able to set the phone to totally silent, but still have the LED light for notifications without having to download something like LightFlow to do it. I like having nothing make noise/vibrate, but still have the LED blink when something comes in.

I developed an app: Call Filter Alarm. Its sleep mode can silence all notifications (also whatsapp and viber), even on Lollipop.
Hope it helps

Hi guys!
I too have the same problem and no app helped me... so I searched far and wide and I finally found a simple trick With my knowledge I have created an app:
Silent Mode Lollipop (search for it.merkcoolapp.silentmodelollipopfree in the Google Play Store to find it)
It only does one thing: switch from normal mode to silent mode, on any version of Android (of course, including Lollipop).
Remember, it's the 1.0 version
I hope it helps!

I made a small workaround that is very handy!
I used Nova Activities widget to create a shortcut to the Sounds and Notificaitions --> Interruptions activity.
Whenever I want to sleep, I simply tap the widget on my homescreen, turn off Calls as priority notifications and go to sleep with peace of mind
As soon as I wake up, I simply enable Calls as priority interruptions again by using the Nova widget
I know this is a workaround but this is the best way I found so far to solve this irritating problem on Android Lollipop.
I would also love to hear about any workarounds that anyone else on XDA has hacked together! Probably whip out a dialog UI using Tasker?
Hit thanks if my post helped you
There is an app called True Silent Mode which supposedly adds back silence like we are all used to. Alternatively you can try a different ROM. CM12 has the usual "silent but with alarms on" mode.

Per App Setting to Override Alert Slider Setting

Most of my time my phone is on vibrate, as I work in an office and don't want to disturb people. But in vibrate I don't get notifications if my phone isn't right next to me, like when it's plugged in to charge.
Is there a way without using xposed to allow certain apps (Accubattery, phone calls, messages, gmail priority, hangouts) to make a notification sound while the slider is in vibrate? I have an inkling it can possibly be done through a combination of DND and the slider, but am unsure on how I would configure it.
Thought or suggestions?
Edit: Also, possibly Tasker or Macro Droid could do it? If so, how?

Tasker shall be easy.
In Tasker create a profile - select apps you want to have sound.
Then in Task, make a new task and select audio and set it to whatever you want..
You are done!

It would be an pro's job but yeah I have seen people linking Tasker with each and every possible event going on your device. But I am not one.
Nitin bro?
