I cannot find a way to disable unwanted Apps in the Application manager. Any ideas? Thanks
This link shows how to disable apps. A little more complicated than the apps manager buy they are uninstalled if done correctly

Read carefully and perform at your own risk. Disabling some apps can also disable some features.

Is there a way (app?) to prevent others from installing apps on my phone? Like something that would require a password every time an app tries to install? Im running ICS on a G2X and it has a device admin section but i have no option to set it up. any ideas would be helpful. thanks.
Device admin is for certain options in an app, like turning the screen off. You have to enable it for that app, like a special permission, and disable it before you can uninstall the app. Only certain functions in certain apps require device administrator, and you must not have anything installed that uses it.
However if you could password protect the package installer using an app locking program then this would prevent others from installing apps. I don't know if any of those apps allow password protecting the package installer since I don't use them, but this would do it. You would need to password protect any means of uninstalling the app as well - settings, market, any uninstaller apps, your home replacement if it allows you to drag and drop to uninstall, etc. This would be a pain, and you'd be better off just password protecting the entire phone.
Thanks for the help. I'll try locking package installer and see how that goes. I'm just trying to keep my wife from installing apps that monitor my phone activity lol.
Hello, in this thread I will show you once for all how to disable apps that can not be disabled.
All this can be done with root very easy...but some people don't want to root... so this method will involve just a play store..
On most devices like Xiomi you can NOT disable those annoying apps like most google apps.
However if you go to play store/menu/help&feedback/type in disable( you should get option popup saying "Delete or disable apps on android" click it. Now you should be able to see a link saying "tap to disable apps". When you click that you will get in your settings where you can disable all those spam bloatware apps like google.
REMEMBER THIS WILL MOST LIKELY NOT WORK FOR ALL APPS.
it's been a while (years) since I've needed to do this, but I remember being able to disable user apps, like for example, Instagram or Netflix.
I'm able to disable system apps, but I want to disable apps I've installed from Play Store and other sources.
is there any way to do this without using Lucky Patcher or installing apps as a system app?
thanks!
Hello,
My play store keep changing from do not update apps to auto update on wifi.
I have several app that i keep on old version.
How can i block playstore from changing this setting automatically
Thanks for help guys
Playstore is a bloody pain.
Set to auto update to wifi only and disable wifi.
Use ApkExport to copy your apps so you have them.
exactly a real pain... always switching the setting on after set up all stuff.
looking for a solution or a workaround to disable this or disable my apps from auto update

Disable Playstore or Google Play Services (Playstore is dependent on it).
Both constantly running in the background... needed or not.
You will need Google Play Services though for Gmail and other apps occasionally during the day.
Use a firewall to block it.
Use a package disabler.
I use both...
oh thanks will do that on play store. Any good app freezer you recommend ?
For phones other than Samsung this might work:
"Owner App" version from
Home - Package Disabler
The only NON-root solution that let’s you disable any unwanted packages that come pre-installed / installed with your phone / tablet.
www.packagedisabler.com
Karma Firewall from Playstore
thanks

I'm not rooted which is why I use this solution.
You have more options.

I'm not sure what's causing that. I can package disable Playstore, firewall block it and it's settings are the same after it's enabled again.
If it's data on the phone is getting cleared on reboot that could do it... 3rd party cleaner or power management.
I don't use Playstore much and all my apps/updates are backed up for reload.
In part because you can't get older versions on Playstore (if the app doesn't disappear entirely) and because Playstore downloads are a slow, tedious pain that use up too much time when reloading.
Don't want Google's junk in my face...
Am seeing this tab in settings, what apk do I need to debloat to remove this? I've been through my apps list but dont see anything obvious, thanks
I don't have that option. Do you see it Samsung members app?
See grab, no its towards the bottom in Settings menu.
don't have that setting but going via help file it offers to install it via Smart Tutor for Samsung Galaxy app
Thanks, just want to get rid of that tab, any idea how?
do you have that app? uninstall it if yes
Have uninstalled smart tutor but the Remote Support tab remains in settings list. Guess there's no way to get rid of it?
restart the phone?
Still there after restart, was hoping there was an app I could disable etc to remove the heading from settings menu, guess not.
I would be glad to remove it as well, I suddenly got it appearing after the last update on my A52 5G.
Any new idea how to get away with this option in Settings?
A bit late to this post, but the solution is to install the Samsung Tips app which removes the "manual" and "remote support" options inside the Settings app and replaces it with a single "Tips" entry: https://galaxystore.samsung.com/pre...session_id=W_03bb1f02be95e1f7c89bf2450f16277d
You can remove both by having Tips installed and disabling it (not removing it) via "pm disable com.samsung.android.app.tips"

This doesn't work on the S21 latest software, CVDC. It will disable Tips, but the Remote Support option will no longer be removed.

On my S22+, I already have the latest version installed by default and tried to disable it via PDP app, but it tells me that some critical app can't be disabled.
It's a system app which isn't directly labeled remote support. You will have to use an application inspector to view all system apps then have to narrow down which app it is. I had to do this to remove the Samsung Account in settings, bixby vision, bixby page, software update installer & more.
Make sure you make an apk backup of the system app before you uninstall it incase you mess up your phone or make a setting inacessible that you needed. You can restore the apps by reinstalling them from the apk you backed up with a tap or use adb to install the app.
If you happen to find out which package name it is please reply with the name as I am trying to figure out which one it is on my phone as well. I imagine its one of the ones that begin with com.samsung.android good luck on the hunt & don't forget to let everyone know once you find out.
