Recently tried to unroot due to issues with the vibrate motor not working for any notifications or anything. Also, apps started to fail more frequently it was all just becoming a big headache. I had thought for sure I enabled OEM unlocking but at this point its obvious I did not. Currently I can not get phone to boot besides to the encryption page and no idea what pin code would be. I have tried everything imaginable under the sun. In adb I ran the oem unlock string which caused all these issues. If I try to boot into recovery I get the message "Your device is corrupt. It cant be trusted and will not boot". If I try to boot normally i get the message "Your device has loaded a different operating system" then boots to the encryption lock page. I have placed the RUU and other files and attempted the SD card way of running the files to no avail. Does anyone have any other advice to getting this thing back on?
Edit: this can be closed. I flashed nearly every file I could find but nothing would take. Doing it both the adb and SD card method. Finally, I found the zip that the phone finally liked and it finally flashed. OH man cant be any happier to finally have my baby back on. Anyone else become stuck in this issue, just do as others have said, find the correct zip, flash it, and all will be ok.

I'm in this predicament at the moment. I am not able to find the zip file with the same OS as my phone (2.42.617.6)
I am looking at this spreadsheet to locate the correct zip file. Could anyone help me, please? Thanks.

38 or 39 should work. The last octet doesn't matter as that is just sub version. So long as the first 3 octets match ie 2.42.617, your good to go.

Thanks shivadow for responding to my post. So I downloaded one of the one of the latest versions (from the zip variant link) and renamed it "firmware.zip" I am using ADB to do the process (https://forum.xda-developers.com/u11/how-to/collection-htcu-u11-ruu-firmware-t3612048) and I get this error:
C:\adb>fastboot flash zip firmware.zip
target reported max download size of 2399200000 bytes
error: cannot load 'firmware.zip'
I renamed it a couple other times and I still get that error above. My phone (U11) is in the download mode. Just for giggles when I type in on the command prompt "fastboot oem rebootRUU" I get to a screen that has HTC on it and says and the warning "Security Warning. If you flash this phone with any ROM that was not officially released by HTC you take the risk of releasing...." When I give the command to flash the zip file I get the same error as above.
I am hopeful that I can get this phone back to normal running status. I just need to get the right commands and files to do this.
I appreciate any and all help to get my phone back to normal again. Aloha.
Sorry just saw all the updates. Notifications turned off apparently. Since I was able to get phone back on I can say it's not like it used to. I've tried to run the RUU which fails every time. And my signal has turned to absolute crap; constant dropped signal and barely any LTE. So, I'm no help since all I've done is get the phone on but not working properly lol.

Aloha and thanks for taking the time to respond. Well you got farther than me as I was not able to get my phone out of trouble. Tomorrow will make two weeks since I sent my phone out to HTC. I just got the new HTC U12+ yesterday as I can't go without a reliable set because I need one for my jobs.
Next time if I do unlock the bootloader on any phone I will figure out how to do the process of rooting, updating, and not bricking the phone.
I hope you sort things out with your phone.

I'm not sure about getting further when it feels messed up still, ha. Yeah I get ya though, had the same experience freaking out that I wouldn't have a phone for work. Fortunately I had my cracked screen m10 that served as a backup until I was able to get the u11 to boot. I swear the last phones I rooted were less hassle than these more complex devices. Hope HTC can get it figured out for you.

I agree that the past phones were not so hard to unlock, root, update, and tweak. Now with the U12+ dual A/B slot partition and multiple files that are needed to root the phone it can be overwhelming.
I'm sure HTC will be able fix the phone but at what cost? I'm just waiting it out and hoping for the best.
Aloha!

Alright, so we all know it's confusing to differentiate the One XL from the One X, especially since Rogers and AT&T insist on calling it the One X.
IF YOU HAVE A "ONE X" FROM ROGERS/AT&T, YOU HAVE THE ONE XL. DON'T EVEN BOTHER VISITING THE ONE X FORUMS.
Now, you've gone and downloaded CWM from the One X forums and flashed it to your One XL, and you're semi-bricked. Let's get you out of that pickle. Please note that I have not done any of this to my own One XL, as there's no ROMs or custom recovery images or kernels for our phone yet. However, just this morning I performed a similar operation on my Jetstream, and the steps will be identical. I take no responsibility for any problems you experience.
First, you'll need to download the leaked RUU that can be found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1550930
EDIT: designgears has offered a newer recovery image. I'm not sure what advantages it would bring, but at least there's a second option: http://www.gigashare.in/53885
Please note that this is marked as the AT&T RUU, so there's no guarantee this will work for Rogers. However, your recovery mode is screwed anyway, so in my opinion, it couldn't hurt to try.
Once you've downloaded the RUU, run it. You don't need to install the RUU itself, we just have to have the application running. Once running, it'll create a "rom.zip" file in a temp folder somewhere in your user profile. While the RUU is open, just search for "rom.zip" and you should find it. Open this file and extract "recovery_signed.img" to your computer, into the same folder as your "fastboot" application. Once you've done this, close the zip file and exit the RUU.
Now, boot your device into fastboot mode
Code:
adb reboot bootloader
Once in bootloader mode, you may need to select "fastboot" from the menu.
Now that you're in fastboot mode, you can flash the recovery we extracted from the RUU:
Code:
fastboot flash recovery recovery_signed.img
Your screen will go through a couple brief steps, something like "sending recovery_signed.img" then "writing recovery_signed.img" and then "OK."
Try to boot into recovery now, and you should see the standard HTC recovery mode!
I really hope this helps everyone out. I'll iterate again that I have no tried this with my One XL, so I have no actual proof that this will work. But, if you've already flashed the wrong recovery image, you should be somewhat familiar with these steps already.
EDIT: Please post your success with this method. As I haven't tested, I'd like to know if everything's kosher, and I can change the instructions accordingly if something's wrong.
Hey, sorry I didn't get back to you sooner, went to bed.
Here is just the recovery image for a newer, unreleased leak.

Heh, don't apologize to me, my phone's locked and running fine. (I've had the phone since Friday... I think this is the longest I've ever gone without rooting an Android phone.)
I'll put that link up in the first post, thanks!

It's AT&T recovery.
Flashed but still having trouble. Got into recovery but can't boot.
Going to see if re-locking the bootloader may help. Only thing different I've done is that I ran that flash_boot.zip thing that Leedroid had on his page. It just seems to push a boot.img file and clear the fastboot cache.
Does anyone have that particular boot.img file? Pretty please?
For myself I will leave it for now and wait until an official rogers RUU or custom recovery to make sure I don't break it again

The rom.zip file from the AT&T ruu should have the boot.img file in it. you can flash it with
Code:
fastboot flash boot boot.img
However, the boot partition is a WEE bit more critical to the phone's function than the recovery partition. Dunno if I'd be flashing it myself, at least not to a Rogers phone.

Thanks, man. Someone said they flashed the entire RUU to their Rogers phone so I don't think it could be too harmful.
I only have my Ubuntu machine and Wine is being fussy and not extracting the rom.zip archive properly. I'll see if something gets released soon. I rarely see Rogers RUU so hopefully I'm not waiting too long. Reactivated my SIM for my Galaxy Nexus but still sad lol

I've been in the same boat brother, minus flashing the boot.img file. Did you end up resolving/unbricking your XL? If not, I can extract the boot.img from my Rogers phone if that would help.
Btw, I haven't been on the forums in a couple of days, but I caught wind of your predicament and I'm surprised at the trouble you've had recently asking for help in this matter. Some people are ridiculous!
Truth is, we have this pretty new device that we want to take advantage of! We got excited, and f'd up. Anyhow, let me know if I can help.

Ok, I'm in the middle of downloading the evita leaked files. I can't extract it from my phone since I need root... unless you know a way other than adb shell? Either way, I don't think you can access it without root. I've tried a few ways with no luck.
I see you can't access the evita files so the best I can do for you is extract it from there for you. Download is slow as hell, so bear with me!

Krepler, Can you tell me how did you solve your recovery? I am in your sisutation as well, flash the wrong recovery and once I boot to recovery and it will occur the boot loop, however I am still able to use the One X (Semi-bricked). Did you flash the stock recovery from Rogers or the one that you just posted from AT&T?

One does not interfere with the other. Recovery is pretty much its own operating system, completely segregated from the rest of the phone. It can neither hinder nor enhance the booting of your phone in normal mode. You could theoretically flash a random sequence of ones and zeros to the recovery partition, and the phone would continue to boot just fine. Until you try and go into recovery mode that is. Flashing the recovery_signed.img as per my instructions is safe in regards to the phone's normal operation. I can't promise that it's a working recovery, however, as I've not tried it myself.
Awesome! Just booted up, my man. A thousand fellatios to you!! Please message me your Paypal address so I can buy you a beer or two.
Haven't tried the Cingular ones but the AT&T ones worked just fine. I'm betting it'll be damn near identical, save probably a few radio adjustments or very minor adjustments.
Booted to the main screen so I should be able to set things up. But I'll chime in and report if there are any major issues. Thanks again!!
Hey I am happy your phone boot up man!!
I am still having trouble with the recovery. I try flash the att& the cingular recovery. good thing is no bootloop I see an image showing black phone and a green circle. then I end up with image of a phone with red triangle with a "!" inside. and then the phone reboots.
am I doing something wrong?
Thanks

Have you tried running "fastboot erase cache"?
What other steps have you done as well? The killer for me was the boot.img file that Leedroid created as part of his ROM installation. The AT&T recovery is what I had used. For a moment I thought I might need to try flashing the system.img file like redwreck had to, but I didn't need to.
Perhaps someone could upload that as well, please? If you need to flash that, it's "fastboot flash system system.img" and it'll flash that too. I always do "fastboot reboot" after as well.
I trust that these should work. Hopefully there'll be a full Rogers RUU so we can flash that just to be on the safe side. Best of luck! I'll keep an eye on this thread as well.
Since I posted earlier I've been setting things up and it's working like a damn charm. Tried exhausting every weird and quirky feature I thought might screw up, but I can't find anything that's not working.

You can get un-stuck from this spot .. it took me longer than I would have liked, but with the patience of other folks here and my unwillingness to quit, i got it back and working. The stock images are here. The key is that you need them on the external SD card to flash them back on using TWRP, which was the problem I was having. I eventually used a whole different laptop altogether with a micro-sd to SD adapter to move them over.
If Id have waited one more day, a few generous fellows found a way to unlock the bootloader without having to contact Sprint, then if it really bricks then wouldnt have it on record. Still quite a feat.

Hi All!
Recently i flashed TWRP and Cynogenmod 10.2.1 stable to my HTC Telestra One XL (evita)
I unlocked boot-loader
I successfully rooted
But I shut down once, and when i tried to boot, it got stuck in a boot-loop
Upon many retries, it suddenly wont turn on
when I charge it it only has a flashing red light but it wont even turn on, no screen not buttons; nothing!
And if I plug it in to my PC, the pc keeps sounding the USB Connected sound multiple times over a short period of 30 seconds to 2 minutes and then it gives off multiple shaky beeps
I hope this is enough info to let anyone help out!
Thank You in Advance
EDIT:
when connected to a pc it shows drivers is ready to use but tries to install QHUSB_DLOAD but fails and latest RUU does not detect
Thx again
What is the exact full filename of the ROM zip that you flashed? When a device is showing up as QHSUSB_DLOAD in Windows it usually means it's bricked.

Just found out:
a friend of mine tried to flash a file named "cm-10.0.0-evita" and it gave off a message saying that this phone is not rooted or missing supersu/ something along those lines
before that he wiped sd card (whole thing)...
and then it went off from there
NOTE: its a phone with mess with, but still want to fix even though its just a side phone we barely use....help appreciated
So does it power on at all?

How did he try to flash it -_- these vague responses make it very hard to help. Bottom line is you can try pressing and holding power until the light goes off and then power and volume down to get the bootloader up, if that doesn't work you can try the evita jet tool to try to unbrick it. Bricks such as yours are not recoverable 9 times out of 10.
It looks like your only option is to get a jtag repair done. I wouldn't bother trying to do it yourself unless you're a fully experienced electronic engineer or the like. I'm not sure how many jtag repairers there are in Australia but I'm guessing Google should be able to reveal that information. Howdy from Melbourne.

he placed the cyanogen mod on the phones sd card, then he wiped sd card, after that he used the install function on twrp it gave him a message that his phone is not rooted and if he would like to root it, he accepted, then it rebooted into twrp, and he tried again to install, same message appeared and then he gave up and shut it down...(sorry for vague terms, please bear with me, still trying to learn the ropes of talking on this forum)
I gotta say, this is all very odd :/ How did he install anything if he wiped the SD card after copying it over? :/ hmmmm In any case, you CAN try he jet tool as per my last post before getting a jtag. You'll need a linux install or Bootable USB stick/CD/DVD though.
My guess is that the only thing he installed was SuperSU. That'd be why it booted straight back into TWRP.

It looks like your only option is to get a jtag repair done. I wouldn't bother trying to do it yourself unless you're a fully experienced electronic engineer or the like. I'm not sure how many jtag repairers there are in Australia but I'm guessing Google should be able to reveal that information. Howdy from Melbourne.

i researched..nothing..just some videos of people who do it (jtag)in the US and US only......
but still asking 'round the shops wont hurt i guess:laugh:
ill keep ya posted about using that tool you mentioned!
and exad; SUP!
and yeah.. it sounds weird to me too but i mainly play around with stuff like the galaxy series samsung's so the htc stuff is still new...and i have to admit...i am hating it so far.... but still experience cant hurt
Hi guys!
im back
I JTAG'd the phone overseas, and it came back, surely enough, working, but now another problem arises,
the guy apparently unlocked the bootloader, S-Off, and installed CM with android 4.3.1. the phone boots, everything is well, but for times from 10 seconds to minutes of usage it just turns off, the Hboot shows
***tampered***
***relocked***
any idea wth is wrong with it now?
it does not reboot from power menu, and does not do anything really since I cant keep it on for more than a few minutes at most. I cannot keep it on long enough to unlock the bootlaoder anymore, and I cannot boot into TWRP (as the guy told me he put it on)
da hell do I Do now? any help appreciated
Try an RUU, any Evita RUU is fine if you have s-off.

Thank you, tried but it did not pick up, but:
UPDATE:
I booted into teamwin, and flashed a CM11snapshot (latest one) everything seems fine so far (after 20 million dalvik and cache and factory restores) but now i am waiting for the problem to arise again, if not, ill have one problem left to fix....the back button does not work....
and now how the hell do i use an RUU on a custom frimware, ? (used it once on this phone but using a stock rom)
thanks again for your time timmaaa, seriously appreciated

There's only one way to run an RUU, and that's to connect your phone and initiate the program in Windows. You're s-off so all security checks are disabled.

I Just ran one, Unlocked bootloader, on Cm11 snapshot after re-root and all that crap done, should be alright now
Hi,
I've just received a HTC Desire 620 (The single sim version). The trouble is I can't get it to get any signal. It was previously locked to 3, but has now been unlocked, I'm trying to run it off Giffgaff. (Although the issue still happens even if I put a 3 sim in it)
The previous owner says it happened after a software update. So I've tried factory resets to no avail. So I guess the issue must be software related.
I've considered doing a reflash, but I can't find the stock rom from anywhere. So if nothing else, I would be extremely grateful if someone could upload their rom.
Thank you very much

Found this:
http://androidflash.blogspot.com/2015/05/htc-desire-620-620g-firmware-stock.html?m=1
Not sure about its validity though, being that it's not from XDA. Use caution.
I'll give it a go and report back!

Just gave that link a try. But I can't seem to get the SP Flash tool to recognise the phone is connected, although adb or device manager aren't finding it either. Am I right in just plugging in the usb cable even though the device is off??

Device needs to be on.
I can't get the device to boot any more, it'll just display the htc logo then turn off. I guess something has gone wrong with one of my many flashing attempts. So I really need to find another way to flash a full rom. If anyone knows where I can download the RUU for the HTC Desire 620, on Three...
Thanks
I've downloaded the zip from HTCdev, but I've got no idea how I can flash it or anything :'(
I've managed to flash the rom, so I'm running completely stock. Does anyone have any other ideas for what could be causing the problem?

I'm currently on my 4th replacement from Verizon. Everytime the phone has either went into an endless bootloader loop where clicking start takes me back to the bootloader and when going to recovery it says "failed to boot to recovery" or turned off and wouldn't turn back on and essentially becomes a bricked phone. Is there anyone else with this problem?
Edit- I'm on stock Android 7.1.1 and not rooted.

Did it work in the Verizon store? I've perhaps seen this once or twice but a replacement device usually worked. But 4 devices? That just doesn't seem real. Not that you're making it up but you need to explain what you are doing before the device goes into a boot loop. Worst case scenario, go to a store and make sure the phone works before you leave.
Weird sounds like you are trying to use depixel8 on an unsupported firmware? And you are bootlooping the phone ?
happened to me on my first device, partly why i havent SU or TWRP yet....just unlocked for future fun...
Mine bricked inbetween twrp and SU....but im sure i messed up somewhere. TWRP worked but as soon as i did SU, it all went wrong for me.....Figured id wait to more stable stuff is out, before messing around again.
mine did the same thing as what your describing...
peace

I know it sucks. I really like the phone when it works.
