HTC U11 128GB screen won't turn off. - HTC U11 Questions & Answers

I've had the U11 for several months and everything is and has been great with it. Today, however, several things just stopped working. I first noticed the fingerprint scanner not working, then I noticed that the power button doesn't turn the screen off. The power button works, I can hold it down and the power menu appears.
I adjusted the screen timeout to 15 seconds and rather than the screen shutting off, it merely dims as though I've turned the brightness all the way down.
The phone is completely stock, but I did unlock OEM Bootloader in developer options.
I went into recovery and wiped the cache to no change. The screen won't shut off and the fingerprint scanner does not register anything. Everything else on the phone appears to work fine. Has anyone else had this issue?

The same night, I ran the battery all the way down and let it sit depleted all night. Charged it to 100% and everything started working again.

Sensorlock issue?

I installed the latest SensorLock version, it worked normally till today. My TP didn't respond with any gesture and TP screen always lock, even on external power, I have to reset to unlock my phone. And another issue, but I don't know it caused by Sensorlock or not, when I turn off my TP by Power button, the screen turn off and then immediately wake up few seconds before completely goes off. Any suggestion? Thanks.

HTC Dash Crashing

My friend recently gave me an HTC Dash for T-Mobile. It's running WM6.1 Kavana's ROM 1.33.424.2. After he gave it to me I unlocked for AT&T completely, 100% legally. I called T-Mobile and they gave me the unlock code.
But since I've been using it it will randomly turn off. It seems to shut off more often using MMS or anything through the Internet, but it will also turn off just sitting in my pocket or while texting. Luckily it hasn't ever crashed during a call.
When I try to turn it back on it will either shut down before fully turning on (it will show the boot screen but turn off), it will turn on but say the battery is dangerously low and it needs to be shut down, or one time it had an error message saying "The device could not be started due to sudden loss of power. Click YES to continue or NO to shut down. Please be sure the device is completely shut down before removing the battery." If you click YES it shuts down. If you click NO the screen turns white then tries to start up a few seconds later and fails.
The way I stop this is plug it in to a charger and turn it on so it can't die. It says the battery is low but since its plugged in it won't turn off. Then once it turns on I turn it off normally by tapping the power button and selecting Power Off. Then I take out the battery, put the battery back in, turn the phone on, and then the battery is back to the power level it was before the crash and the phone works fine again. But any texts or calls I had made in the past few minutes are erased as if they hadn't been made, sent, or received.
I've already tried a few hard resets and it doesn't seem to work. I even downgraded to WM6. I just want to know if this is a software problem, a battery problem, a hardware problem, or something else. Thank you to anyone that can help.
Welcome to the forum
I assume that your battery is working ok right?
Try with a hard reset

Good luck,
I've tried the hard reset a few times, I don't know whats wrong.

Screen won't stay on

Nexus 5, stock firmware not rooted and otherwise untouched. When trying to screen unlock the phone, it immediately returned to the lock screen almost as if it didn't unlock.
I found that if I power cycled the phone, I had around 20 seconds of usage before the same behaviour started again and I could keep doing this process.
I tried factory reset, and found that the screen worked perfectly for bootup and would work continually until any button was pressed - then the same 'screen switching off issue'. I could get a flicker of what was on the screen, by pressing the power button - but then it quickly gracefully went off.
The screen itself appears to be functional, and no odd pixels. Booting (and using) the bootloader / recovery works exactly as expected, without the screen turning off - for an unlimited amount of time.
I then tried flashing Cyanogenmod, but gave the identical result. Now reverted back to stock.
Any ideas?
Thanks

Screen won't turn on

This happens to me since yesterday. Rebooted several times, still no change.
When my phone is asleep and I try to wake it via fingerprint it won't turn on. Only if I wake it via power button it turns on but I have to wait 30 sec or so until it does. Once the screen is on, it seems to work fine.
I will elaborate this a bit further, maybe I can find out the cause. But has anyone of you had this problem, too?
1) Have you tried to configure finger prints again and see what happens?
2) Put phone to sleep and wake it up in few seconds with the fingerprint, does it wake up or no?

[LCD Replacement] Screen doesn't light up after sleep

Hello everyone,
I bought a LCD replacement for my OPO, and asked a friend to replace the screen (he had his own OPO, and changed the screen on it a couple times, so I trusted him).
The frame was not included, so the phone is without it unfortunately.
But I have this problem with the screen itself...
I boot the phone, everything goes well, it boots, everything ok, I can do everything...
Then the phone goes to sleep after the 30s, and sometimes when I press the button to turn it on, the lights in the bottom light up, I can hear sounds, I can swipe to answer calls for example, but the screen stays all black.
If I press the power button to turn it to sleep mode and then click again to wake it within 1 or 2 seconds, it works everythime.
Its just when it goes to sleep... And then I have to press the power button to reset the phone, and it boots again.
I'm using the LineageOS Rom, and I never had problems like this before replacing the LCD.
What caused this? Could the screen be "broken" when I bought it?
Thank you for reading this and for the help!

Click to collapse
Well, clearly the issue is lcd itself.Happened with me on my last screen replacement,it was defective.Though in my case,I had to power on/off the device to get the display back.Get a refund or replacement, there's no other alternative.
