Can anyone recommend a suitable waterproof/dustproof case, maybe something generic for an mp3 player or a "normal" phone, just something that is a snug fit that preferably I can hang around my neck. I work in a very dusty environment, I wear a mask all day and ear defenders, so if the ringing is obscured it is not a problem, I just check my notifications when I get the chance. I had one for my old Artemis which I found at a car boot sale but it has developed a hole and my pristine Diamond rattles about in it horribly. I am also about to go on a beach holiday and would like to have my Diamond hermetically sealed around my neck in the sea. Any suggestions would be welcome.

or you could have it surgically implanted into your arm.
Keep it in a sealable sandwich bag?

That is the kind of thing I'm after , but where can I get the surgery, I have tried implanting it in various other parts of my body already, another reason why I need that case!
And MrDerrickC won't it make my sandwiches taste funny after that?

My phone is on the pill!
condoms
Those phone condoms are called Skinz .. http://www.skins-mobile.com/
They do exactly what you want.. and they are a talking point..
I have used them loads.. They allow you to use the phone normally and are completely waterproof.
Possibly a bit expensive for everyday use as they are supposed to be 'disposable' ..
i have the invisible shield.. took me 1 hour to perfect it... but you cant tell my phone is covered with it.. its truly great.
but not waterproof.. but then why would i want my moby waterproof? over 10 years of mobile use.. never once had a water issue with any of them. I just dont takethem near the water...
im covered for accidental damage anyway.. its just scratches i hate to get on my diamond... and the invisi shield is superb to stopthat.
you mean you've never dropped a phone down the toilet? How hard wearing is your invisible shield please? It does sound interesting. It is more dust contamination than flood damage that is essential for me, unless I get a new job, which at the moment really does sound like a good option!
so can you still use the touch screen when you have one of those "skins" on it?
http://www.mymemory.co.uk/iPod-Classic-Cases/Design-Go/Design-Go-Dry-Sounds-MP3-Player-Waterproof-Case
these are really cheap !!
also if you get a mini usb to 3.5 mm headset socket adaptor your well away!
i got one from a service station on the M11 near bishops stortford for about £5.
the case is semi transparent but you can make out the screen quite well, great for reading ebooks in the bath!!! LOL
its water proof to 3 meters IPx8
and fits tightly with about 20mm space to one side if you jam your diamond to other side of the case and there's about the same to the top too so you can store you cash in it and go swimming on the beach

Real Waterproof
Take a look here.
http://golden-shellback.com/
Thats real waterproof no ugly bags or anything else.
Remember to look at the video's.
I sa the review on engadget. This **** is for real. When it will be public avaliable I dont know, but for sure it will come.
Just waterproof
So I took my barely-a-week-old phone and dropped it in the toilet. Not on purpose. It's funny how you hear these phone-in-a-toilet stories and wonder how the hell they happen - then it happens to you and and you're just like... "ohhhh."
Anyway, I have the Otterbox commuter on it. Not the ruggedized one, and not even water resistant. Thank god I did, because the little plug on the headphone jack, the rubber over the hard keys, etc probably saved my ass. The water indicators under the battery cover barely got moist - pretty sure they got wetter while I was pulling off the dripping cover than when it was under water. They're still pink, just a tad faded. Otterbox FTW!!!
No, they didn't pay me to say this. It's just an awesome case. Pricey? Maybe. Bulky? Oh yeah. But QUALITY and a life saver.
I also caved in and bought the otterbox commuter and I freaking love it! It honestly isn't as bulky as I thought it would be but I do wish the back was a little more slip resistant. Over all I think this is a great case though.

I have one too, I don't know why you guys are talking like they're so expensive. I got mine for $22 on amazon. The otterbox is amazing though!
Rule #1 No cell phones in the bathroom.
Rule #2 No cell phones around the kitchen sink
Consumers would save billions of pesos every year by following those two simple rules. Glad you saved your phone! If this would have happened to me, I would have peed my pants (pun intended).

What do you mean? How do you pass the time when dropping the kids off at the pool? When do you play Angry Birds?

Really, you play angry birds while on the toilet? That is almost new thread worthy!
also, this has worked for me in the past. pop the battery out, asap, and put your phone in a large zip lock bag over night.
I would do it any how with the bag of rice, the rice will suck all the moisture out of the phone.
Wish they had one with a kickstand, i would consider it

No, rice will absorb water that it is in contact with, and water that has evaporated in the bag.
Pools of water, say from recovery from the bottom of a pool after a few mins, might require more evaporation and more replacement of the rice. But this is the general idea since the rice is a desiccant.
If it gets wet just buy the 530 msrp or so of the charge in beef jerky, throw all the little silca beads in a bag with it and let it sit an hour =p

I thought everyone with an ass and a phone played games/browsed web/read emails/etc. while on the toilet.

Has anyone found any information on how samsung plans to deal with an S5 that has water damage. being that the phone is supposed to be water resistant ( and I have watched a few blogger test of the water proofing with surprisingly good results) also post general water resistant discussions here

It isn't supposed to be waterproof. It's supposed to be water RESISTANT for shallow water (1 meter I believe) for 30 minutes or less.
Point made and that is what I meant. But still curious if Samsung is going to stand behind that

Yeah how do you/they prove that it leaked at 1.1 meters or .9 meters?
I have a feeling that it will usually swing their way and they won't cover it....

So I had a different soak test this weekend, but mine had nothing to do with software.
I had my Moto X Pure in the chest pocket of my waders while out hunting, and apparently that pocket is not waterproof (of course a smarter man would have known this as evidenced by the drainage hole built into the bottom of said pocket).
When I was searching my pocket for more shells for my shotgun I found my wet phone. And by wet I mean water literally running out of the USB plug as I pulled it from my pocket. I could shake the phone and more water would drip out.
Then good news is that the phone still functioned normally, no glitches, no problems. The only thing odd was the bottom half of my screen looked wet - on the inside. Now 24 hours later, the screen has lost it's wet look, things seem to have dried out, and everything still functions fine!
Bottom line...Seems to be water resistant just as advertised. Not water proof, as evidenced by the screen staying wet, but able to survive a pretty good dunking. By the way, I continued to use the phone while it was wet.
Very Happy Moto X Pure user!
I believe Motorola coats the innards of their phones in a water resistant (not particularly water proof) coating. Seems to have paid off for you!

Pretty sure an Alfa male is one owned by an Italian auto maker.
Good to hear it survived its dunking, I've used mine in drizzle before but I was hoping someone would accidentally do a water test for me. Thanks!

Even better is duck poached in its own fat stuffed in a bacon-wrapped jalapeno. But it is only manly if you bred, raised, slaughtered and smoked the bacon yourself.

I've owned several Sony phones in a row and became very used to washing the phone when I washed my hands. I'm a carpenter and dust is everywhere, especially in my pockets. If I washed my phones lightly with a smidge of soap once in a while it never got that dirt caked in the gaps look. I saw a video in which someone "tested" several Moto phones by submerging them in water for 30 minutes and they came out alive. I thought F-it, I can buy a replacement for myself, after all, the Moto was half the price of my last 2 Sonys.
Anyway, I appreciate your story, it gives me confidence that my much less stressful practice should be just fine. And I'm picturing you hunting Yosemite Sam-style, "searching my pockets for more shells". How many does it take!!
EDIT: It just dawned on me you're obviously bird hunting....not much of the hunting here in VT is bird so my mind was elsewhere.
