My phone is Galaxy S7 SM-G930F on stock Rom, bootloader,,,etc. Never flashed or rooted. During a call it froze and rebooted into Download mode.
Since then I am unable to reboot to any mode but Download mode. It exits by pressing power and down or all buttons together but boots only into download mode.
Before that I noticed that the phone was becoming hot during calls and battery life was much shorter.
Any Help with this problem?
Thanks
Try flashing the same ROM to the phone using Odin.
Sounds like you need to reflash the stock rom via Odin, but before you do that last thing to try before going down that route is to boot into recovery and do a wipe/reset. Be aware doing either of the aforementioned options will unfortunately mean loosing all your user data and apps.
I can't tell from your post but it seems that your handset seems to not want to stay off after pressing the power and volume down buttons? If this is the case then do the following to get into recovery -
Press power and volume down untill the phone powers off, then very quickly press and HOLD the "volume up, power and home" buttons to get into recovery before the phone has a chance to reboot. Then you will see the reset option to set the phone back to factory defaults.
If the above doesn't work then your gonna have to download the latest version of the stock rom from sammobile for your country and then follow this little guide on how to flash a stock tom via odin.
You could also try using Reiboot for Android to exit Download mode in one click. You can find it here: https://www.tenorshare.com/products/reiboot-for-android.html

My power button decides to become unresponsive.
So I tried to unroot my phone and bring it back to a stock image and when I go into download mode, 2 seconds later, it turns off. :crying:
I try another method by using mobile odin to see if that helps. Tried to flash the stock image and it tried to reboot to Recovery mode. Nothing. It stays in a black screen after the samsung galaxy s3 logo. After pulling the battery, it tries to reboot to recovery again and still, a black screen. The only way to stop it from booting to recovery is to set it back to download mode. I hold the power button and it restarts. ( The power button seems to work when I try to go to recovery, download, power on.
I am running Cleanrom 6.0 R2.
I am in deep [email protected]#!. I do not want to go to verizon and notice my phone is rooted and I can't fix it without a huge bill.
Please help if possible
Hello,
I just want to check on the best way to get my phone back to stock before sending back. The phone is on now but I don't want to risk turning it off and not getting it back on in it's rooted state with a custom ROM. If I do a re-boot and hold down on the volume with the menu down will it go into download mode? Can someone check without using the power button?
I see the another option is the mobile odin. The last option could be to flash stock rom, unroot, lock bootloader. I want to minimize risk here.
Thanks
I think I am SOL now. I tried to boot into download it kept turning off. I pulled the battery and it came back on but every time I get to download mode it turned off. SO then I try the mobile oden and what does that do? Tried to boot into oden and it flashed it's own kernel so it won't boot fully until it finishes it's flash. I try to boot into recovery and it just turns off again the same as download because the power button is stuck on.
I took the phone apart and pulled the outside power button out and put the battery back in and it immediately boots to download mode and turns off again because its stuck on.
Worst part as soon as you put in the battery it boots to download and it says custom right on it. Any other ideas? If I disable the power button being stuck on how will I turn it on? Man, 4 droid phones rooted and I think this might be the one that takes me down
Mine is stuck, so when I put the battery in it will turn on automatically. I flash about once or twice a month so what i do is pull out the battery and as soon as i put it back in I hold the button combo to which i want to go to. Vol up and home for recovery or volume down for download mode. You should check out the unroot method in the Stickies
I got it now.
I wanted to start new on my S6 so I did a factory reset but all the photos seemed to still be there so I went into TWRP and wiped everything, including /system. Then I went ahead and installed the firmware for the G920F and attempted to flash it using Odin 3.10.6 and it didn't work. The blue box appeared, but it would always fail trying to flash the md5 to "AP". I also noticed Windows kept giving me errors detecting my phone even though I had the Samsung drivers installed. (everything was obtained through xda) But I ignored it and assumed it was only because I was in Download mode. Now I reinstall the drivers and still nothing so I give up and instead of flashing stock ROM, I go for a custom ROM. The A8 port. So now I hold down power and home and it doesn't turn off... Download mode is still there and display is on. Isn't the hard reset a hardware thing that software cant mess with because I literally cannot get the display to even turn off after holding just power, holding home+power and home+power+volume (tried both up and down, not both at once though) but nothing. Even for 30 seconds, no luck. So I really need help now. This was way easier with a S4 but I'm having so many issues with the S6 it is insane. Could someone link me a guide on how to flash stock ROM after I wiped and reformatted /system, /cache and /data to F2FS? Thanks
This is pretty much the total opposite of "literally bricked"
I had this same issue 2 weeks ago with my G928 S6 Edge+ Press and hold Power + Volume Down and hold until your device shows the Samsung screen. It probably will not go past the Samsung screen. When it doesn't, press and hold Power + Volume Down again until you are booting to Download Mode. Next, switch to a different version of Odin to perform the flash of the factory firmware. This is what I had to do to get my Odin flash to pass and my S6 Edge+ to boot normally. Hope this helps. Good luck. Let us know the outcome or if you have issues or need more help.

Turns out I had to hold down volume DOWN + home + power, no other combination seemed to work. After that I installed Smart Switch and booted into Download Mode again to install the stock firmware. It automatically chose the correct firmware and everything is fine now so I didn't have to mess with ODIN. Weird how holding home+power or just the power button does nothing and how simple flashing the stock firmware actually is.
Glad you got it worked out. Good job

Hi Guys,
Trying to figure out what I did wrong here... So i have a Samsung s6 with xtrestolite ROM, I wanted to flash back to stock, so i went into download mode, downloaded the stock recovery and flashed it via AP on Odin. The phone rebooted after the 'pass' message, then stayed stuck on the loading screen, wouldn't turn off, I had to open the phone and pull the battery. Now it won't turn on whatsoever, if i plug it in to charge, the charge graphic comes on, and then if i press and hold power it goes to the loading screen, but nothing else.
Holding VolDown+Home+Power wont get me into download mode, even if i hold the buttons for a good few minutes... any thoughts?

Firstly, when you are stuck on the Samsung logo, you need to hold volume down, home button and power at the same time until it brings you to the download mode screen. Second of all, if you want to go back to stock, you don't flash the stock recovery.. You download the firmware for your EXACT device model from websites such as Sammobile., then flash it using Odin And the last thing you want to do is remove the back. If you are still stuck in the current situation; while it is powered off, hold power, home button, and volume down and go into download mode. Then download the flash the EXACT firmware for your model of device, it will say at the top left in download mode, that is your current model. If these steps fail then I can't help you any further, you may want to ask someone else. If you don't know how to flash stock firmware, google it.

I need help urgently. I tried to change the splash screen of my Samsung Galaxy A51. I downloaded a custom param tar file, placed it in my downloads folder and used this command in adb shell to replace the older one. I did back up my old param. But there's no way I can restore it. Now, my phone when I try to start it. It doesn't even seem to turn on the screen anymore. I hear the phone vibrating every 2 seconds so I assume it keeps rebooting. I tried to enter download mode but I can't because samsung made it that you need to go into the recovery first, so I tried to go into the recovery but nope, it keeps vibrating and it's not responding to whatever I do. Is there still any hope for my phone? Thanks in advance.
Hello, I had this problem too. My phone also stopped booting into anything, even in TWRP.
For me, the resolve was to make the phone force reboot by holding power button and volume down, then immediately try to enter the downloading mode by holding volume buttons, when the screen turns off
and then you need to flash your device with your stock ROM
I understand you, that you cannot enter the recovery, but for me this method worked
I managed to solve it, the problem I had was that I was unable to boot into download mode. Because I have a samsung galaxy a51 and I did not know how to enter it. The last phone I had was a samsung galaxy s7 edge, back in the old days it was easy to enter download mode, just hold volume down, power button and home button. Now for some reason I need a cable connected to my computer and then hold volume up and down simultaneously. After I figured out how to enter download mode I flashed stock rom and phone worked again.
