8.1 greatly improved my wifi reliability - Xiaomi Mi A1 Guides, News, & Discussion

So I have a Luma, one of those mesh wifi systems with 3 access points. Before the July update, the phone would disconnect as I moved from one room to another so roaming was weird and acting up. After updating to the latest OTA I'm happy to see this is no longer the case. I can confirm my wifi isn't dropping anymore because I run openvpn in the background and it remains connected for hours (10-14 when I arrive home / overnight) whereas before uptime would suck as it would reconnect on lte and then reconnect on wifi every time roaming broke.
Has anyone noticed other good things / fixes from this update? No bugs please, I'm sure there's a thread for that already somewhere.
Cheers!

yes 8.1 update also fix sound record quality in video no need to any fix file or root anymore

[Q] WP7 Wifi connectivity problem

Hi lately i have been experiencing troubles with my wifi.
The router signal is strong and whenever i turn on my phone it will be connected in less than a few seconds but WITHOUT connectivity. (ie. the wifi symbol shows connected but i cant browse the net)
The only work around for this is to manually disable and re-enable wifi for my phone to be truly connected. (Which is very tedious)
I know this may be a router problem as well but in the past i didnt have this issue.
Im using HTC Mozart 7 - updated to 8107
I was wondering if anyone is having this issue too and knows of a solution to it.
Thanks
unplug the router and plug it back in (after 30 seconds)
Home routers are noted to stop handing out addresses at random times. Rebooting re-enables this so the phone can get an address and get on the net.
Hm my router is working properly. All my other devices are connected with connectivity. Whenever i turn on my phone, it also says connected (but without connectivity), so the work around is to disable and re-enable my "phone" wifi and then my phone is connected WITH connectivity.
To do that is quite tedious every single time... and it seems like a connection bug in my phone if all my other WIFI devices are connecting properly
Thanks
Hi guys.
I have the same issues with my Omnia 7 too. Started a few days ago. Cant sync emails, nor surf on my phone. It seems like itss connected to my network. I have my latop and other phone working on it like a charm. Any ideas?
Hi,
I have the same problem on my Omnia 7 and it all started after the 8107.79 OS Update.
The WiFi works fine when you first connect but after the phone is not used for a few minutes and I turn it on, it's shows as connected but I can't load any websites.
If I disconnect the WiFi and connect again it works fine
This is a serious issue!!!
I have also tried to restart my router but this didn't solve the problem.
Did you guys found a workaround?
Thanks!
Same here
I have the same problem (after 8107 update).
It connects to my wifi, and strangely sometimes (but that's rare) working, and get pages to load on, but then it shows the connection, but can't load any page in IE.
Also, reconnecting doesn't solve always the problem.
Any suggestions what to do?
After i have done a hard reset, and reverted back to 7740, i don't got any problem to cennect to my home wifi.
But the disappearing keyboard is really annoying, so i want the 8107 update features, but not the bugs of it.
Still no other one have problems with the wifi connection @8107???
We are 3-4 who got the problem, so i don't think its so user specific...
Another news
After reverted back to 7740 i decided to update one more time to 8107. (If something will go wrong then I have a backup of my Omnia7 with WP7 Easy Backup).
So i updated to 8107 one more time (no KK2 update arrived, CSC and PDA is KI4), and now the wifi connection works fine.
So try to revert back to an earlier version (with a backup), and then update again, maybe it can solve the problem
Yea.. but that is really random then... its like saying ur update is better than my udpate!! haha even though its the same material overall
Im sure more people have this issue as well just havent seen this thread
Hello ! I have the same problem with my HTC HD7 I have to take off the battery to let WI fi work again this is very annoying!! A fix for this please!!
Sent from my HD7 T9292 using XDA Windows Phone 7 App
count me too ! Omnia W
Not working - again
I've done a backup in 7740, so i reverted to it for 1 day, and there was no problem with the wifi.
Then i decided to give another try on 8107 - and it worked well for 3-4 hours. That was 2 days ago (as you can see in my earlier posts)
But now it have the same problem, connects to the home wifi, but after a while the internet is missing, however the connection remains! Can't load any page on IE and can't connect with any app that needs internet connection.
This is a serious problem, and i see that others have this problem too, so we should deal with it!
Any expert that know something about this issue?
HTC Trophy with the same WiFi problem.
I have same problem on my LG Optimus 7.
anyone with problems receiving incoming calls too? sometimes freezes the screen and have to take the battery out and put it again to reboot!
Same problem here with HTC Titan. The prob started after the 7740 update. Now running 8107. Turning the WiFi off and on again does work (thanks Mercea2) but, as he says it is tedious.
I'm having a similar (same?) issue on my Omnia 7 - the problem hasn't always been there though.
I've come up with a work-around - turn off 3G data while in range of WiFi, and turn WiFi off when not in range and switch 3G data back on.
If only one is turned on at a time, my people hub updates instantly. If both are on, it takes many attempts and a long time.
Seems like there is some issue switching between 3G and WiFi...
3G/wifi not working together
As someone said it before, the wifi keeps giving errors if 3G data connection and wifi is also turned on!
If i switch off and back the data connection switch (!!), then the wlan works again for a while. If i switch data totally off then works flawlessly.
Any workaround for that?
Maybe a homebrew, that can switch off data connection temporarily, if the phone is connected to a wifi network, and after disconnecting it will switching back. But I think if it can be done, than just on fully-unlocked roms (i have Omnia7, and unfortunately DFT SammyRainbow is not ready yet)
My wifi/3G problem started with the 8107 update (Omnia7, not KK2).
So any suggestions what to do?
Ok.... this is getting on my nerve... whats the point of having wifi on if it doesnt connect the moment that its suppose to!!!
Can we inform anyone about this?
Same problem here with HTC mozart after the update... worked for 2 days and then no more wifi
Hope microsoft put an update soon

Wifi connection troubles after update to 6.0

I'm not sure if this is a Nexus 5 problem or a 6.0 Marshmallow problem but the problem occurred after the update to 6.0 on both Nexus 5s for me and my wife.
There seems to be some bug with my phone while it is asleep (screen is off but phone is on). When it is in this mode, it will not stay connected to wifi. For example, when I enter an area that has wifi, my phone will not connect. It will only connect when I wake the phone. And this isn't just a matter of the phone taking a while to connect. It NEVER connects. Before the update, my phone used to make a connection with my home router before I even walked inside. Now, I can be inside for hours and the phone never connects, until I wake it up. As soon as I wake the phone, the phone makes the connection with no problem. After a few minutes of the phone being asleep, I will wake the phone and the wifi connection will be gone. Now that it is awake again, it connects again with no problem.
I have tried forgetting the network and creating a new one, I have tried different routers, I have tried wiping the cache partition. I haven't tried a full factory reset, and I'd prefer not to, but I guess I will if I have to.
Just thought I would check here first and see if anyone had other thoughts.

Thanks for the reply. Yes, that is what I thought at first also. I meant to say in my original post that my wifi settings are set to "Always On" during sleep. I've tried toggling that between the settings but still have the trouble.
Sorry, my Nex 5 has not this issue on Android 6 build MRA58K.
Alessandro
Yup, have the same issue. When the phone goes to sleep, it seems to disconnects from the wifi and never connects after I wake the phone. When I go into the wifi settings, I see "WIFI Connection Failure". I have to reconnect manually. Like the OP, have it set to always on as well. I also know it's not a router issue because I've tried this on four different routers (two linksys, one Dlink, one TPLink) All same results.
Wonder if this is a phone issue?

Google upped this to a high priority Friday morning (Nov 6). The bad news is I think there a couple different WiFi symptoms being discussed here. Most of what is being discussed is the issue being discussed here (not reconnecting when the screen is off).
No idea when this will be fixed, so I build a Tasker profile to toggle WiFi every 15 minutes when not already connected to force a reconnect. I’ve observed it getting disconnected on its own overnight. This should avoid unnecessarily using cellular data.
I’m perpetually waiting for the next release of Android to fix annoying bugs.

Thanks for the update Gary. The comment #6 describes my situation exactly. In doing some troubleshooting of my own, I find the disconnection trouble to happen less while on a 5Ghz network vs 2.5. I still have the trouble of it not connecting initially when I come into range, but I find that it is able to hold the connection while asleep.
I am also experiencing this on my Nexus 5 and also found and starred the thread above.
I just listened to 20min of streaming with Spotify to then realize that it had gone into Doze and used the mobile data!
This is more than annoying...
Maybe by disabling Doze for some specific connectivity-related system app? Anyone tried that?
Yes, I moved virtually all of the services type of apps (the ones with the green generic Android icon) to the battery not optimized list. It didn't make any difference for me.
In some ways it seems like it might be a Doze problem, and in other ways it doesn't. Doze shouldn't be affecting anything when the phone is in my pocket and I walk in the house to my WiFi. It also shouldn't be affecting anything when the phone is being charged, which is when I see frequent WiFi disconnects.
It will be real disappointing if this isn't fixed with 6.0.1.
This is still an issue with 6.0.1. Nexus 5 (2013) 6.0.1 MMB29K updated through OTA ZIP pushed with ADB.
Things work properly for a while right after a reboot and then WiFi never connects until the screen is turned on.
Google Connectivity Services C.1.6.7 (2466695) update didn’t make a difference either.
Same problem as the thread starter. HTC A9 anroid 6.0. (newest available OS)
Same problem here with a Nexus 5 .
Please star the problem if you have it.

Has anyone tested with a non-stock kernel ?
I'm asking because the problem seems +/- resolved on CM13 (non caf).
No counting CM13, do you know of a more stable rom with the problem resolved?
Does anyone here have Wemo devices? I am reading that wemos, and possibly other devices that emit their own wireless network, may cause problems. I have several of these devices around the house, and wonder if that might be contributing. However, that only would solve the dropped connection bug I have, not the failing to connect while asleep but I have.
Hi mates, my Nexus 5 (android 6.0.1,M8974A-2.0.50.2.29) gets the same troubles with wifi connection but today I tried to put some apps in non optimized list of Doze and seems workig fine.
Thats my non optimized Doze list:
-Google Play Services
-System UI
Try it and let me know if it works properly.

I had Google Play Services already set to not optimize, but hadn't tried System UI. I will try that out and see what happens.

Welp, that didn't work. Still have the error after not optimizing System UI in addition to Google Play Services.
I don't know if the issue is resolved, but at least for me, it never worked fine so many days after testing some new workaround.
So, this was what I did in my Nexus 5 (latest build, MOB30H).
Uninstall or deactivate Google Connectivity Services, reset your network settings (you will lose your Wifi networks and BT pairings), reboot.
My Nexus 5 has been connecting to the wifi networks even with the screen off for the last 6 days.

Miguun, has the error returned, or still fixed? I just got the May update, so fingers crossed that fixes it. Otherwise, I guess I'll try your fix. I don't look forward to entering the wifi network information again.
Yup, it is still working !!

WiFi & LTE Connection Issues

Hello all!
My wife is running a T-Mobile Note 10+ and having major issues with the WiFi and mobile cell service. She constantly runs into her apps like Netflix and Plex saying she has no connection. She's complained of the WiFi being bad and having to disconnect from it, and then she can use LTE to watch shows, and then sometimes LTE stops working and connecting to WiFi fixes it.
Here's the thing. I finally was able to see it when it was having a fit on the WiFi. Going into the connection settings showed it was connected to our 5GHz WiFi at 7Mbps connection speed. Nothing was loading. This was on a 1300Mbps link. I disconnected from the WiFi and reconnected to it, without moving the phone's location, and voila! It reconnected at 300 something Mbps and everything started working. I believe it may be doing the same with LTE as it cuts out randomly and constantly. I saw it myself while we were driving somewhere and she couldn't load websites. My phone (OnePlus 7 Pro) is on T-Mobile as well and I have NEVER run into these issues. We are on the same provider / plan.
Her phone is fully updated and isn't rooted. I haven't touched it as a tech nerd so it's running as a total consumer as far as settings go (haven't played with APN or wireless radio or anything).
Has anyone else experienced these issues? Does anyone have any ideas to fix this?
Did you try a different wlan access point? Actually i am on the Note 10 with Exynos. Wlan and LTE are working nice for me.
Perhaps your problem is meanwhile solved through an update.
I have the same problem, mainly in LTe but sometimes also in Wifi
ANyone found a workaround ?
i've been having this issue constantly since the march security update. Didn't notice it before but it'll disconnect from my wifi, still recognise it but wont reconnect unless i restart my phone
Same here. Brazil SM-N975F.

Wifi limited connection and other issues

Just about the phone and went straight into update while setting up. Everything downloaded fine, update apps etc. Seemed to be doing more updates in the background. Had a few random power offs that I had to plug it in for and would show 0% at 1% I would turn on and it would go back to 100% instantly. A few touch screen issues that seem to have gotten slightly better
Now my big problem I use my phone strictly on wifi but now all wifi connections are showing up as 'limited connection' the issues is the phone not the wifi. I have it on every wifi I've tried and my laptop has no issues with them. I'm trying to avoid a factory reset just to end up with the same issue
Thanks

Question W-Fi constantly dropping

Anyone having issues with Wi-Fi dropping all the time after latest update? When I say "all the time" I mean like every couple of minutes.
All network settings reset.
MAC set static.
It's the only one of maybe 30 Wi-Fi devices in house with the issue.
Wi-Fi AP rebooted.
Phone rebooted.
Phone is maybe 1 metre from the access point most of day.
Nothing seems to keep it stable.
The phone's unusable and I've only got a couple of weeks to return it if this doesn't get fixed.
did you flash the new firmware or was it ota
