scrolling fix - Essential Phone Guides, News, & Discussion

A lot of us have faced some blur or sort of scrolling irregularity on android P. It isn't very noticeable but exists. If u copy the following to root/system/build. prop, and reboot, you will notice some improvements. Actually im pretty sure it fixed it. Additionally, if anyone knows what the signal cheat i have in my screenshot does please let me know. Dunno if placebo effect but i have had better LTE all day since adding that. These are from the op6 latest P dev preview..

Awesome, thats a great idea

Is this basically the same thing as screen smoothness on Oreo-based custom ROM's (under settings>system) or would it further help with scrolling on Oreo? I haven't tried out P yet.

Dont know depends on if the feature is included inside the oreo source, i think it is just for the shakiness of scrolling in P and the google devs added this to correct it for the one plus 6 latest P preview.. make a backup and try.

I dunno if placebo but it does seem less janky to me. Thanks op!!

I did! I'll let you know about that one throughout the day.

Is this to help the screen jittering or the sporadic lag spikes I'm getting on p?

Don't recommend that signal mod, it really wrecked my signal and gave me a qcom_rx wakelock. Could be my area or carrier though

Hmm would make sense that it is only helpful in areas where signal is weak. Where it is strong it could mess it up

Here's what the new messages app looks like in full material 2.. as much as i could get working my substratum screwed up the lines in between each contact. I think..Yes, this has nothing to do with anything but it has potential.

Oh shoot

Mark's the man, he's gonna let us know whats up with this rom... im hopeful it'll work

I was thinking more: Worst case scenario - you'd have to flash a different room!
But... Now that you've mentioned the above, I've come to the realization of the chain of catastrophic events that could end civilization due to Android phones blowing up.

The only "issue" I've experienced so far is the camera not working on Sapphire and it's prompting for what to do on firstboot (should u use setup wizard etc)

afaik, camera isnt working on any 2.0 builds due to the lack of a new driver from HTC, so not really an issue as such.

I believe one of the 2.0 Dream threads has the solution to the firstboot deal... can't remember which one, but it was a deal with it having 2 different setup apk's, IIRC... I will try to find the post.

Flash Player update 3

Flash Player just updated.
Another step closer to Froyo.
And the build unit for this player "happens to be"...
10.1.72.7
I'm willing to speculate that 72.7 is a reference build towards FRF72-77.
=)
I still see the 72.4 version on my nexus. No version change yet.

No idea for you. But I just updated mine to 72.7 a little while ago.
Any noticeable changes?
UPDATE: Just got the update too. Trying it out now.
Yup, I'm downloading it now too.
Okay, the first thing I did was to check if the new flash can play some flash games (restaurant city) and it can!!!
The controls are not that good since the n1 has its issues with multitouch. i wonder if it will work with hulu...let me check...
Confirmed that hulu is still not working.

Just went on kongregate. Seems to be much smoother than the initial release for sure. And also faster, might be placebo though on the faster. But definitely smoother.
Anyone tried hulu?
PS EDIT: Oops. Guess hulu still not working. Bet they don't like us. Lol.
I didn't like the jerky scrolling and pinch to zoom i got from the previous releases. This one is making these things a lot better. Definitely getting closer to a final release. The video playback is better but i sill can't hit the buttons for full screen and volume, even when i'm zoomed in a lot.
A step in the right direction, but these steps seem to be too small. We still don't know if the new beta uses hardware acceleration or not.
UPDATE: I also noticed that the flash element only loads when you are watching that part of the website which is a good thing because it helps the general navigation. Maybe this is why i feel like i can scroll better.
UPDATE 2: Switching from portrait to landscape while watching a flash video is seamless now. This is what i'm talking about! +1 for Adobe!
anyone got a direct link for us droid 2.2 users?

Good enough for me

How similar is the Lollipop update to stock?

Does it have fullscreen music cover art on the lockscreen?
What was the main features which made you upgrade? The main one tempting me is the Move to sd option but its not quite a big enough reason to upgrade consdidering many apps can still do this on KK.
I'm totally on the fence about lollipop. I waited and waited on the update but now the thought of re-setting up all my zooper widgets and all the xposed modules i will lose I'm kinda putting off the upgrade.....
Plus I'm not crazy on the Material design.... i actually prefer the blurred/transparent look than bright colours and flat shapes. Blurred UI xposed module is a great little app that does this.
Can anyone tempt me to upgrade? Any nice features i don't know about? How is performance?

Agreed...
WiFi is working without any problems here...
UI is only what you see but it's not everything about UI, 5.0.2 is faster, smoother then KK and safer (all security patches and updates)...batery consumption is better optimised...
Xposed is working fine now and it won't be long while we get all modules we had on KK here on L.
There aren't reason for you that could force you to upgrade but that's logical step to do...
Try..if you don't like it, downgrade and stay on KK but give it a chance... I'm sure you'll change your mind

Xposed for 6.0

I'm rooted on stock with twrp, wanted to install some tweaks for the reboot menu and status bar and I know we need xposed for it.
Can anyone guide me as to how to install it? I've read tutorials but wanted to ask the people here. I'm new to this phone.

good info, im just not sure why people use xposed as opposed to a custom ROM with the features that theyre looking for baked into the ROM
Because sometimes, there are many things "cooked", and if I need 1 or 2 mods, then I don't need to deal with all the bugs that came with custom ROMs.

thats pretty fair, but i dont really get many (if any) bugs with custom ROMsif installed correctly. Im not bashing xposed, i just think that custom ROMs are the way to go for my taste
plus, in my experience, using xposed on a stock rom is better, you don't have to deal with any bugs

It can screw things up fast and often! Haha. I use XPosed purely for boot manager and greenify. Those are safe on any rom. Unfortunately there are so many modules you can use on your phone that aren't meant for it. If you're not happy to screw things up to learn what works than it can be a huge headache. Lol. I gave up screwing with many of the modules. Oh. I also use it for no ads and background play for YouTube.

no, im on resurrection remix nowadays and very much miss the TW camera. I ran MOAR for over a year and wanted to try out the AOSP ROMs that everyone was ranting about, and i rather enjoy several things about RR, but the camera is rather lackluster on AOSP. TW ROMs have access to the stock Samsung camera, which is awesome!! I really havent found much that just WOWs me about AOSP vs MOAR other than the fact that MOAR isnt being updated anymore (yes, you jsut witnessed someone remind themselves about why they decided on something that they had totally forgotten LoL) I spent a little time finding out if one could port the stock TW cam to AOSP, but apparently its not possible

It's good to know you can run it. I'm surprised it is so fluid. In my experience even Pixel 3a is a bit slow on the latest Pixel UI.
I honestly think Samsung's UI, or Pixel's Android 11 UI is better than Pixel Android 12/12L/13 UI (especially the quick action and lock screen layout), so I wouldn't try this.

if those work for every A53, great. if not, it would take maybe 24 hours for the others to be uploaded if tickets were created for either.
