so, my problem is that i only have 3gb lefr on my phone and netflix says no sd card detected when trying to select an external storage as download directory. i am using sony 16gb usb drive with an usb c adapter. i can acces my drive with the built in "files" app. is there a way to create a shortcut or symbolic link or whatever its called that is named .of that links to a folder in my usb drive called netflixmovies? maybe that will trick netflix to think its downloading and playing from the internal storage but is actually using usb storage via that shortcut folder. i have xiaomi mi5 32gb with stock international rom with locked bootloader and no root. is there a possibility i can do this? sorry for my bad english, im 15 and its not my native language

I cannot access my external sd card that's in my gTab from windows via the USB cable. I seem to remember that when I first bought it , I could see both the internal and external storage when I connected the gTab to Windows via USB (when it still had stock ROM). Now I am running rooted VEGAn-TAB-v1.0.0b5.1.1 and when I connect it via USB to windows I can only see the internal storage (I couldn't see it when I tried cyanogenmod either). I can access both brom the gTab just fine and if I take out the ext. sd card, windows reads it just fine.
Any idea why and/or how to access both internal and external storage from windows when gTab is plugged in via USB to windows?
As far as I know you could never access the external sdcard from the computer by usb
I load things from my external SD to internal SD and visa versa using ghost commander. Not a super big deal just one extra step. At this point I almost forgot I had to do that to move files between them and my PC.
i use a app that mounts them both
The way I found to access my external sd card from my computer is to ftp into my gTab using filezilla on my computer and SwiFTP FTP Server (available free from Market) on my gTab. Here is another post that talks about how to access the ext. sd card remotely: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=869844

Thanks, I know some other people will want to try this app.
Not a great fit for me as I dislike the delays built into a lot of free apps.
I just plug a USB thumb drive into my PC, download the files onto that then plug it into my tablet and download from the USB drive onto the SDCARD. Easy like pie.
Works the other direction too!!!
cutting to the chase, im looking for a way to install my apps data and if possible apk files to a otg micro usb flashdrive (its a flash drive that has a micros usb conection that plugs directly into our phones micro usb port.) So far im able to read and write data to it in the sense that i can browse movie files music ect from the usb drive.
What i want to do is to be able to download a app from playstore and it installs automatically to the otg drive.
I tried foldermount and thats fairly inconvenient in the sense i have to first download file to phones internal storage THEN link it to my otg drive, this process is time consuming and irritating for my purposes.
Ive looked into link2sd but its telling me i dont have a 2nd partiton on my otg flash drive, but ive used eauseus partition manager and did that (made a ext 4 , also tried ext 3, partition as part of the overal 16gb flash drive) and no go.
i know this is possible on a custom rom as i did this with a micro sd card many android phones ago.
quick specs on my device
completed stock rooted and bootloader unlocked
latest busybox and su binaries.
no exposed modules or custom kernel.
8gig x1032 singe sim version
any suggestions be my guest.
I'm hoping someone else has encountered this problem and found a workaround...
I've downloaded Flixster, logged in and accessed my collection of films/tv series. When I got to download them it gives an option of download to phone or download to SD card. I selected SD card but it then says that this is not supported on my device. According to Flixster's website, all Android devices on 4.3 and above should have this facility working. Is there anything I can do to get them on my SD card?
Unless you have it installed as a system app it will not be able to write to SD card.
This is a KK feature where only system apps can write to sd card
Choose internal memory then copy it over using a system explorer, or do it via a card reader in your PC or root and apply the write to SD card fix

Download it to the phone, then transfer it to your PC via the USB cable, then to the SDcard using the USB cable

By transfer "it" do you mean the app and then transfer the app to my SD card via USB? Or do you mean the movie and then transfer that to my SD card via USB?
You have the app installed, it needs to be on the phone.
Download the movie to internal memory and then move that about.

You'll have to excuse me for being a noob, can't quite figure out how this works. I plugged my phone into my laptop, went into internal storage and cut the files from the phone and then put then pasted them onto the SD card. However, now when I go into Flixster it doesn't recognise them as being on the device and although they are listed in the Movies app, it can't play the files.
Can anyone help on this? My 16Gb internal storage is running really low, could really do with getting the Flixster files on my SD card if possible

Though I am not familiar with this Flixter thing, but ones you have downloaded and saved your movie in your SDCARD, why are you sticking to Flixter to play it? You can use your device's movie player or any other 3rd party software that supports the format to play the movie.

They are digital codes for DVDs/Blu Rays I have purchased and have to be redeemed via Flixster. Once redeemed you have the option of streaming it via wi-fi or downloading it to the device. If you download to the device it stays within the Flixster app (they ar enot playable by other media players even though they are mp4 files - guessing they must have some sort of Flixster encoding or DRM). There is an option on Flixster to download them to SD card but it won't let me do it on the Xperia as it doesn't have permission to write to the SD card.
When I connected my phone to my laptop, I found the files within the internal storage and manually pasted them into the SD card but after doing so, Flixster no longer recognised them as being on the device and other players were still unable to play the files.

I am sure you have already checked the settings in Flixster application, to see if it gives option to read & play contents from SDCARD?
There is some application to convert users apps to system apps. Not sure if even after converting this can be moved to SD or not.

Yeah unfortunately not, just an option where to download to and when you select SD card and then download, the Xperia won't let me.
Would I have to be rooted in order to convert to system apps?
I'm on a Xperia Z3 Tablet and hit the same problem. I've found a way around this which works. The thing you have to bear in mind using this is you cannot download to the SD card directly.
Close Flixster
Using File Commander (or similar) on the device, copy Android>data>net.flixster.android to the same location on the SD card.
Note: Using Windows or similar doesn't give you the same rights to create/modify some of the folders
Start Flixster and change the storage location to the SD card.
Restart Flixtser. You will now see the location under the devices saying On SD Card.
I remove the ones from the internal storage once satisfied.
When downloading a new addition, change the location back to Internal Storage, let it download and then move that across and obviously change the storage location afterwards.
It works for me well on a 32gb card and saves precious internal storage space.

Hi all,
I have a sd card that i want to copy its contents to an external hard drive. I have the following
OTG cable
USB Mains powered hub - This one http://www.amazon.co.uk/Plugable-Te...8&qid=1419902366&sr=1-6&keywords=usb+main+hub
1 tb external hard drive(NTFS)
Micro SD card (Fat32)
Micro sd card adaptor
I have connected the external hard drive and the micro sd card adaptor to the usb hub, then connected the usb hub to the OTG cable which is then connected to my phone, however Stickmount is not recognising the external hard drive, nor is Nexus Media Importer. Does anyone know if this is a limitation wihtin Lollipop (5.01) as it use to work in KitKat.
Should i just go back to KK?
I am rooted and on 5.01
if someone has any ideas please post, as i need to get this sorted wihtin the next few days
Thanks

To add to this, your portable hard drive is likely formatted in NTFS. Look at the OP in the thread beekay201 posted for instructions on how to handle this.
Thanks for the link..... I placed the files needed into the sdcard root, but it still does not recognise the 2 drives together
You need to provide more detail, like, help us to help you.
This external HDD you got, have you tried to hook it up, without using the USB hub? The external HDD itself, it's self powered, or draws power from the phone (or the hub)?
Paste a logcat to hastebin.com when you connect the HDD or the sdcard to the phone through OTG cable for us to see.
What StickMount version (I mean, literally the version number, not if pro or free) are you using?

right.. if you had searched about this, you'd have found lots of people having issues with L+Es file explorer. use another file explorer, and be done with it.
also, there's nothing wrong with stickmount or the logs. if it works with another FM, i'd just stick with that.
if you want to keep trying ES, be advised that you might need to try the "PIE PATCH" - fixes issues with root access/ES. I'm feelin generous (and bored) so here you go: http://forum.xda-developers.com/google-nexus-5/development/fix-bypassing-pie-security-check-t2797731
Right,i've got it working using the mains power plug on the USB hub. also ES File explorer is also working if i go via the folder structure rather than the left hand side menu.

Good.
@euqiddis please edit thread title to include "[SOLVED]" i.e. "[SOLVED] - Slightly urgent - Multiple OTG devices on Lollipop".
Thanks in advance.
install apk from a desktop PC
onto an android mini stick ?
how ?
I already have done this
from my PC,
to a tablet
via the usb cable.
Will it be the same ?
what do you mean mini stick(do you mean SD Card)?
just take the apk you want with usb cable like you said, and put it on your sd card or internal storage on phone.
Download and apk installer through the play store, open the app and you will see the loaded apk or you might have to type in the directory, then click on it and click install.
sorry ahead of time if i didn't understand what you meant.
