Bricked my Honor, please help - Honor 8 Questions & Answers

Hi,
When tried to change region bricked my phone, please help me.
Normal boot - phone asks me to enter password to decrypt storage, however it wasn't encrypted.
ATM i have: Honor 8 with TWRP recovery(cannot mount or wipe /data(Invalid argument, tried different filesystems)), dload does not work(just stuck at Honor bootscreen), adb do not see phone.
Tried to install update.zip via TWRP, gives error.
Any ideas?

I was also at this point of ****ness. Try turn off phone, stick vol down and connect usb to pc (it will boot to bootloader), do unlock bootloader. After that boot to twrp, format data, flash l09-c10 oem .img file, than 398 russian firmware via hurupdater and reboot to system. It helped me.

Bootloader already unlocked. Where i can find .img file? Do i need to unpack firmware? Cause i have update.zip, inside is update.app file.

Bricked honor 8

Hi. I was trying to install cm13 on my honor 8. I unlocked the bootloader, but while trying to install twrp recovery I think I deleted everything off the phone. The huawei erecovery doesn't work, and I tried sooooo many fastboot commands. I can't do adb commands. I can only get into fastboot mode. Is there anyway for me to get out of this? I tried flashing the system.img and boot.img from fastboot but it fails.

Yes. I installed a roll back update (something like that) by getting into the force update mode. After it finished, I had to then apply the full stock firmware. The problem was that I somehow put the firmware of another phone, because my model number was from a different Huawei phone.

Hi. I got tired of CM13, so I tried to go back to stock. I checked a guide online which told me to flash 2 files using TWRP. after that, I lost twrp and now my bootloader is locked. What do I do? I manually did an update with the update.app file, and it says update success, but when it reboots it stays on the honor 8 screen, I waited for 25 minutes and it's still there.

Try going into stock recovery and doing a factory reset after you use the update.app. You'll have to unlock the bootloader again and flash twrp if you want root.
Restoring to MM using a full image will typically lock the bootloader.
It happened to me too, it is possible you still didn't use the right image.
This is how I recovered mine:
1. Go here to download the latest firmware for your model: https://www.androidfilehost.com/?w=files&flid=129406
2. Use the Huawei Update Extractor to extract files from the "Update.app". (Ignore the 'profile' drop down list in the app.)
3. Unlock your phone's bootloader.
4. Flash these four images (extracted using the tool from step 2):
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot flash cust cust.img
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
fastboot flash system system.img
5. Boot into recovery and do a factory reset. This is needed to reformat the internal storage (and make it encrypted I think). (Power+Vol Up)
6. Put the Update.app file inside the "dload" folder in your SDcard.
7. Boot into flash mode to let the phone flash the Update.app (Power+Vol Up+Vol Down).

2 things, 1 is that there are 2 recovery files in the UPDATE.APP, and 2 is that I can't do a factory reset from the recovery, because it brings me to the erecovery and it doesn't give me the option to factory reset.

You need to hold VOLUME UP and POWER button with the phone off to get into the recovery to do a factory reset. Once the honor logo pops up, you can release the power and volume up buttons.
Recovery.img = Stock recovery
Recovery2.img = eRecovery

I just did everything exactly the way you said. But it still stays at the honor boot logo. I don't mind waiting over night for it to boot up if I have to, but I've never had a phone take this long to boot up, even on first boot.
For a "brick" thread, it seems odd that the model is never mentioned so that someone can really point you to the right spot. If you keep going to erecovery, then it has to do with whether or not your cable is plugged in (likely you've been keeping it plugged in for your fastboot attempts, or that's a guess). I only go to erecovery with both up/down & power if the cable is plugged in. If I want to get to stock recovery (regardless of what the hell is in the "recovery" partition, TWRP, or who knows?) then I unplug it before trying any key combo from power off to get there.
Lastly, if you use this sort of thing as a template (I'm just going to use one for the frd-l09 as an example, but stick the right model in there for you) ::
Example to plug into Google to find your rollback with instructions:: site:consumer.huawei.com honor 8 frd-l09 rollback
Click to collapse
So if you've got an frd-l04 then plug that in where frd-l09 is. It'll just look on the site consumer.huawei.com just above where the various country/variant breakdowns are, like US/ZH/HU/Etc. are.
Pick the one out that is closest to what it seems you want. All the pages are in the local languages so I'm guessing the .pdf that explains what to do is in the language you'll want as well.
Good luck:: Let us know what model phone you have.
More: Contents of first "intermediate" update.app is 8 image files. I'm sure the 2nd one that is specifically your own phone's version of b162 has a lot more files in it. I've not looked for awhile but I think it's 21 or 22 files. This is a two step process, first is all the crap that comes in update.app from the rollback page (just a 100K file which sets you up in intermediate state for rollback) and 2nd you find your exactly right b162 for your model phone, and pretty much repeat the process.
Yet More: One odd thing about the Honor 8: I've not seen it on other phones is the partition layout is not really "trustworthy" unless you really have gotten to understand it. There appears to be at least 3 or 4 places you can get to that I used to think would all have to be in the recovery partition, but apparently the Honor 8 works differently, so no matter how bleak your odds seem, .. maybe not. I got to both erecovery and stock recovery and rollback while TWRP was installed and it worked just following the directions from their website.
Agreed on this thing.

Thank you very much, you saved me and my phone !!!
I made a mistake: my phone was under android m and I flashed by mistake the rollback update (to go m from n), then my honor was bricked on bootloop, no recovery, no update by dload....nothing worked....
Your solution was the right one !! again thank you very much
Interesting observation with the eRecovery (recovery2 partition). So I have TWRP installed, the system partition modified and user storage not encrypted. I was still able to to use eRecovery to connect to WiFi and download the factory image and it automatically repaired the phone to factory state. I noticed it doesn't re-lock the bootloader afterward. This seems to be the easiest method to unbrick.
Getting into eRecovery.

Ok after the factory reset (which is peppered with mounting errors)...
failed to mount /data (invalid arguments)
unable to mount storage
When I try to flash cust.img and system.img they both fail.
I cannot check what firmware I was on before I started all this, but I believe it was the latest one. This is a FRD-04. I flashed TWRP 3.1.0.1 erecovery and I can access it and fastboot.
I have tried various different things and nothing I do can unbrick the phone. Any help would be appreciated.

have the same problem as you on my FRD-09.
I don't have this phone anymore, but the easiest way I find to restore it is using eRecovery.

failed to rebrand from AL10 to FL19 - now bricked - need help

I have totally failed to rebrand my FRD-AL10 (EMUI 5, Nougat) to FRD-L19 (because I was hoping to get rid of all the apps/functions/messages in Chinese) by following the steps listed on another thread.
I did eventually manage to get it to identify as FRD-L19 but when it did boot up it had no stock keyboard only voice commands and the phone was unusable . it said it was Android 7, model FRD-L19 and build number was nrd90m test keys?
I tried to update with the latest FRD-L19 update.app by copying it into the dload and vol up+vol down +power buttons press but the update failed and since then I am stuck with the phone refusing to boot, or to boot into twrp recovery.
It hangs at the booting now orange letters screen (It says "Your device is booting now...." and nothing more happens.
If I hold vol up and power up, it hangs at "Your device is booting now...."
If I wait until it says I can press vol up for Erecovery it goes into Huawei erecovery and that tries to download latest version update by wifi, it connects to wifi but says "Getting package info failed".
If I go to reboot from erecovery it goes back to the Your device is booting now.... and stops.
I can shutdown from erecovery (but if its still plugged in it goes straight back to "Your device is booting now...")
From shutdown (and unplugged from USB) - if I hold vol up+ vol down + power it goes to EMUI Installing update then Software Install failed. The update package does not exist. Please download the package again. Reboot system now.
I don't know how to put an alternative update package into dload when I can only use fastboot mode and nothing else?
I can do that by shutting it own from erecovery shut down page and holding down volume and power up.
I assume I need to go back to stock firmware for FRD-AL10 like this one from another thread FRD-AL10_C00B135_Firmware_China_Nonspecific_Android 6.0_EMUI 4.1_05013LBP
and not version 7.0 stock rom for FLD-L19???
Anyway, I unzipped that and use Huawei extractor tool to extract Boot.img, cust.img, recovery.img and sys.img as suggested on this thread.
I can fastboot flash 3 of those but the cust.img fails to flash with "partition error"
I also tried to fastboot format user data but the command failed FAILED (remote: Command not allowed)
I don't think its possible to use the unbrick function of huawei multitool because I can't get into recovery mode?
I don't think I can get a different copy of update.app file into the dload folder internal memory and use the vol up+ vol down +power buttons because I can no longer get the phone to boot to system.
The fastboot screen says PHONE Unlocked
FRP Unlock
Would be very grateful for suggestions on what I should be doing to unbrick this, please. Sorry for being a stupid newbie.... and I honestly have been reading these threads day and night for 2 days but am still stuck!!
Thanks
Edit: is part of the answer to try to flash a different version of twrp again? So I have to put the right version of twrp.img into my adb folder and then fastboot flash recovery twrp*****.img ? Then I might be able to fastboot boot recovery ? Or if twrp works I can flash the right stock rom? (which one? given I was trying to rebrand)
Or if I could somehow get back system to boot, I could use adb push to put the correct update.app into dload on internal memory and use the vol up+ vol down +power???

That was the twrp had success with before..... but everything seemed to go wrong at step 5 of the debranding guide. Where I was supposed to do a data wipe when the device immediately rebooted after installing the zip?
Then I was confused about whether I needed to put the firmware update file into sdcard/dload or not and whether it should be internal memory /close instead. And whether the firmware was correct when it said Android 6 when the phone said it was android 7????
And then there was no keyboard only google voice.....
But I will definitely start by trying to flash that twrp again... and if that can work... then the L19 Rom from your debranding guide again. And let you know.
Thanks

So held down power which started the reboot and enabled me to press vol up to enter erecovery and choose shut down.
then volume down whilst connecting usb to PC to put into fastboot mode
then copy your file twrp-3.1.1-1-frd.img to minimal adb directory on my pc
then in minimal adb: fastboot flash recovery twrp-3.1.1-1-frd.img
I have got that far.
Then do I fastboot reboot?
and hope it boots to system so I can copy over the zip file from my pc with file explorer and then
do I adb reboot recovery (to get into twrp)?
then install the FRD-L19C432B131-hw-eu-OPU_TWRP_FRD.zip file using twrp? (or do you mean another method of installing that rom)?
then still in twrp I do Wipe: format user data?
then do I reboot to system?
At what point do I need to copy the update.app to sdcard\dload and use the vol up+ vol down + power to install the update?
Thanks again

After twrp sucess you have to biot the device it will works normal but you have to go reboot to recovery and do a factory wipe and shutdown then after doebload the official firmware of frd19 which is mm and dlaod the update.app and three buttons trick it will update and relock the bootloader and update to EMUI 5 by the phone updater app in settings
I got this far:
So held down power which started the reboot and enabled me to press vol up to enter erecovery and choose shut down.
then volume down whilst connecting usb to PC to put into fastboot mode
then copy your file twrp-3.1.1-1-frd.img to minimal adb directory on my pc
then in minimal adb: fastboot flash recovery twrp-3.1.1-1-frd.img
then I rebooted and got back to the screen where system fails to load "Your device is booting now"
So I pressed power off and then held down volume up but it boots only to erecovery so I pressed shut down and decided I needed to unplug usb.
I tried again with holding down volume up and powering up and managed to boot into twrp.
In twrp I do wipe: swipe to factory reset.
Twrp says Failed to mount '/cust' (invalid argument)
and Failed to mount '/system' (invalid argument)
with windows explorer on my pc and the phone in twrp I can only see the /sdcard but I can see the FRD-L19C432B131-hw-eu-OPU_TWRP_FRD.zip is there.
So in twrp I go to install and I try to flash FRD-L19C432B131-hw-eu-OPU_TWRP_FRD.zip from /external_sd (with the zip signature check and reboot after install boxes unchecked)
It starts to write UPDATE.APP..... Completed! script succeeded....
E: unknown command []]
updating partition details....
Failed to mount /cust (invalid argument)
Failed to mount /data (device or resource busy)
Failed to mount /system (invalid argument)
Failed to mount /product (invalid argument)
I try to wipe data and get the same Failed to mount messages
I down load Honor 8_Firmware_FRD-L19_Android 6.0_EMUI 4.1_C432B131_United Kingdom .zip on my pc and unzip it.
I copy the dload folder including update.app to Honor 8:microSDcard
Then I went to power off in twrp so I could do the 3 button load from dload but twrp says "No OS installed! Are you sure you want to power off?"
So I'm not sure? Please can you help again?

bro neglet the mount issues after update.app write sucess reboot the phone once and let it boot comoletly .after that dload the offical ROM of frd l19 . and do a reset in stock recovery.
Ok so I rebooted and EMUI said it was doing a factory reset
then the phone booted up with asking me for language, wifi password
then it wants to do a quick update FRD-L19432B360 2.83 GB so I hit quick update.
then it reboots like a normal set up and the keyboard works and everything looks ok. It says that the build number is FRD-L19432B360
Do I still need to do the dload?
Thank you so much - I would never have got this far otherwise!

Any help just reply.
If you got another update from b360 just neglet my above steps and go on . Enjoy.
It was ok today when it wanted to update to B389. Now I'm stuck back with only erecovery again.
I can get back into fastboot and unlock the phone again and I put on twrp again and got back into it but
I'm confused about which firmware I need to flash
The latest version for FRD L19 in firmware finder is B392 and I would need the 3 files - update.zip, update_full_FRD-L19_hw_eu.zip and update_data_full_public.zip and to flash all 3 - I tried that but got a lot of errors and it won't boot
But I need to flash something or put on the MM dload/MM update you posted first? do I go back to the B131 MM you linked before first? Then I somehow update to the B392?
I'm so sorry to keep asking stupid questions!!

Flash this first update_full_FRD-L19_hw_eu.zip
And then flash update.zip .
If after flashing reboot got strucked in blue screen just format factory resey in recovery.
I flashed update_full_FRD-L19_hw_eu.zip
And then flash update.zip .
They both failed with error 7?
So I went back to your B131 and my phone is unbricked but this time I didn't accept B360.
But how do I get to the latest Nougat?
From Firmware Finder I thought it was B392 for L19CB432 but maybe its B384 for L19C10??

Strange
So just update to nougat via system app , later try to flash the zips through twrp and give atry
Ok thanks updated to b360 again via system app so build number is showing FRD-L19432B360
then oem unlock then flash twrp then tried to twrp flash B392 for L19CB432 update_full_FRD-L19_hw_eu.zip but twrp says "E: unknown command [errno]
update_huawei_pkg_from_ota.zip: update package from zip failed
Updated process ended with Error:7
Error installing zip file '/external_sd/update_full_FRD_hw_eu.zip '

Ok so I rebooted and EMUI said it was doing a factory reset
then the phone booted up with asking me for language, wifi password
then it wants to do a quick update FRD-L19432B360 2.83 GB so I hit quick update.
then it reboots like a normal set up and the keyboard works and everything looks ok. It says that the build number is FRD-L19432B360
Do I still need to do the dload?
Thank you so much - I would never have got this far otherwise!

Help with a bricked honor 8 FRD-L14

The issue I am having is that my honor 8 (FRD-L14) is stuck on "your device is booting now.." and it does not shut down. If I hold the power button until it shuts down then it restarts by itself and it keep doing the same thing over and over.
When it first starts and the blue screen and the logo come up the phone vibrate twice and then it displays "your device is booting now..." and it gets stuck there
Here is what I can and cant do:
I can go into fastboot and it shows that the phone is unlocked and the FRP is unlocked
I can flash TWRP from there and I can go into TWRP
When I check in TWRP for partitions I can see CUST or DATA and it shows that the INTERNAL STORAGE size is ZERO
I was able to create the system partition but I am not sure if I did it right.
the dload folder on the SD Card has the role back but the three finger thing (vol+ and vol- and power does not start the system restore from update.app) instead it gets stuck on " your device is booting now..."
I tried Huawei_Multi-Tool and I chose the "unbrick option"...I extracted system.img, boot.img, recovery.img and cust.img and the tool was able to push all images to the device but still the device does not start.
The original stock recovery is not accessible either even if I flash the stock recovery image from TWRP
Any tips on how to resolve this?
Thanks in advance guys

You said you can go into TWRP right. Just rebrand the device to L19
First format data
Then flash the rebrand.zip
Then reboot and if it doesn't boot first go into recovery and factory reset then let it boot up again.
Try flashing stock recovery.img using fastboot. Can you now enter into the 3-button combination mode?

Yes, but he tried the dload method before flashing stock recovery, and he was flashing stock recovery using twrp rather than fastboot.
Thanks but I tried dload after I flashed the stock recovery.
And I tried flashing the stock recovery using facebook and twrp and neither ways succeeded

I had the same exact issue 5 days ago.
Here's what I did to solve it
NOTE - This is FRD-L14 SPECIFIC
First, Download these files -
1) FRD-L04 Original Recoveries and Boot Image
2) FRD-04 Rollback Package from Huawei
3) FRD-L04 Official MM ROM from Huawei
4) FRD-L14 Specific Stock MM ROM Update.zip
Assuming Bootloader is unlocked
Here's what you should do
-Unzip the Recoveries and Boot image folder
-Unzip Rollback Package
-Make a folder called "dload" (without the quotes) in the root of your SD Card
-Place the Update.app from the Rollback Package in there
-Make sure you have ADB and Fastboot installed - Installer
-Boot into fastboot by Plugging in your USB Cable and Holding Power + Volume Down. This may take multiple tries and multiple reboots to get it right depending on the reboot loop.
-Once phone is in Fastboot, go into the Recoveries and Boot folder, hold Shift and right Click. Click on open Command Window Here.
-If the option says "Powershell" instead, open Command prompt manually, and cd to that directory, or change this option in your settings.
-With command prompt open, do -
Code:
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
Code:
fastboot flash recovery2 recovery2.img
Code:
fastboot flash boot boot.img
IMPORTANT - Make sure you unplug the cable from the phone and are ready to press both volume buttons at the same time after it reboots
If you dont get it the first time, hold all 3 buttons at the same time to make it reboot and go into that mode.
Code:
fastboot reboot
-Remove cable, press both Buttons at the same time
-It should go into stock recovery and start flashing the Rollback package
-Wait for it to finish, it should reboot automatically
-After it reboots, you should notice that it went back to the same state it was, so reboot into fastboot and flash recovery, recovery2, and the boot image again.
-This time, put the Update.app from the Official L04 Rom you downloaded from the Huawei website in the "dload" folder of the SDCard
-Fastboot Reboot, Remove cable, and Press buttons again. This time it will flash the Official ROM, so it will take longer.
-If it says error right at 99%, reboot, it flashed correctly but it displays an error.
-If it says error anytime before the end of flash, reboot and try again.-After it reboots, you will notice you are able to boot again. BUT, you are not able to update due to it being branded as L04, sooooo
-Place the Update.app from the 4th link (L14 Specific ROM) in the "dload" folder of SD Card
-Three button method into the recovery flash again.
-It will start to flash the L14 Specific ROM on top of the L04 one.
-After it flashes it and reboots, reboot one more time once you are inside android so it encrypts the ROM.
-(Optional) Update to Nougat, apply other updates after that (There's like 3 Updates I think)
-At this point you have a 100% Stock FRD-L14 Honor 8 but, you can also
-(Optional) Reunlock Bootloader
-Profit?

However, do you think that this w=method will work despite the fact that I do not have a valid DATA or CUST partitions?

No problem!
That shouldn't matter, this will get you to 100% stock, so all of those partitions will be reflashed.

It worked!!!
Thanks a lot!
but this is what happened:
After i flashed recovery, recovery2 and boot images, I rebooted the phone and it went straight to stock recovery and it asked me download stock firmware and stock recovery which was 1.66GB so I allowed and it downloaded it and flashed everything and did a reset and the phone booted normally.
The stock firmware that it downloaded and flashed was B122 MM.
One question though, does the flashing sequence of the recovery, recovery2 and boot matter?
Before you posted your post, I had tried flashing these three files in the following order: boot, then recovery then recovery2 but it never worked.
Also, the three images that tried to flash were extracted from the update.app from this firmware (FRD-L14C567B162_FULL) so I was not sure what was going wrong.
Thanks again for your help!! :victory::good::highfive:

bricked honor 8

Hi, i have a honor 8 FRD-L09 unlocked bootloader, I don't know what was the original rom. I can't start it, I tried to install many versions, with dload nothing is working it stops at 5% and gives an error,I achieved to get one at 25% but it then failed but with fastboot and huawei extractor im able to install recovery, boot, system img files but it doesn't changes anything. I have access to erecovery but when I try to connect to a wifi it says that it's a wrong password even though im sure it's the right. If anyone is able to help me it could be nice, Thank you.
I installed twrp recovery but it still boots on emui erecovery.

You need to remove your USB cable to boot on TWRP (press "Power" and "Vol+" buttons, and only release "Power" - only hold "Vol+" - button when first blue screen appears).
If your phone is stuck on message "Device is booting...", you flashed a wrong TWRP version. Ask me if you want to try an another version.
But firstly, did you try this how-to (dload folder method): https://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-8/how-to/problem-frd-l09-t3596449 ?
Is there a model number written bottom back of your phone? (real FRD-L09 model?)
Good luck! =)

Is it "Rollback package" UPDATE.APP which fail at 30%? Try "firmware B131" UPDATE.APP directly, if you have not.
I don't know about extracting ".img" from an UPDATE.APP file and flashing them... seems dangerous. ^^
If you boot on TWRP, you will be able to follow this thing (use FRD-L09 link and do all steps and step 5. fully: "Dlload For FRD-L09" flash to complete properly): https://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-8/how-to/guide-honor-8-to-frd-l19-t3632220

Try this 10 steps, that's the last idea I could give you...
0. Need an unlocked bootloader / Knowing how to boot on bootloader and use adb/fastboot command-line tools. (GUIDE HERE)
1. Download TWRP:
-- 1a) Recent version (EMUI 5.x installed firmware): twrp-3.1.1-1-frd.img and use fastboot command to flash it
Code:
fastboot flash recovery twrp-3.1.1-1-frd.img
>>>> If phone is stuck on message "device is booting now..." when you try to boot TWRP, use old version.
-- 1b) Old version (EMUI 4.1 installed firmware): twrp-3.0.2-0-frd-modaco-rc1.img and use fastboot command to flash it
Code:
fastboot flash recovery twrp-3.0.2-0-frd-modaco-rc1.img
2. Download this modded FRD-L09C432B131 firmware (.zip): here
3. Copy the zip file to your SD card. (You can do that when your phone is booted on TWRP: plug your USB cable)
4. In TWRP, go to "Wipe" > "Format Data".
5. In TWRP, go to "Flash" > Select the zip file and flash!
6. When finished, do step 4 again before rebooting your phone!
7. Phone can take some minutes to boot, take it easy! If it works, download "stock" (original) B131 firmware: https://www.hihonor.com/uk/support/details/index.html?DOC_ID=92101
8. Open the zip file and extract "dload" folder on your computer. Then copy the "dload" folder inside your SD card (root of the SD card).
9. Flash it with "Power" + "Vol-" + "Vol+" buttons.
10. Last step (RECOMMENDED) - Factory reset: how-to
:fingers-crossed:

Stuck with fastboot mode.

Ok, so I had oreo in my 6x indian variant, and wanted to flash elemental OS V8. But for some reason the TWRP was not able to access the data partition. And when I read somewhere in XDA (in other device's forum) that changing the file system from f2fs to ext4 can help and did so and it worked. I could access my internal storage and everything on TWRP. But I didn't change the file system back to f2fs and sideloaded the elemental 8. It worked find and I installed it. When rebooting it got into bootloop. After that I tried to get into the TWRP but didn't work. I flashed the TWRP again which said flashed OK, but when I tried to enter it took me to the stock recovery. When I tried the dload method with the nougat B360 version, it gave me blank screen with red led blinking and nothing working after that. I tried dload with the oreo file which gave me back the stock recovery and erecovery, but again flashing TWRP didn't work. After dload, it reboots to erecovery and asks me to wipe data partition since it is severely corrupt but says factory reset failed. In some cases it does go factory reset but doesn't boot into OS. Since I do not have access to TWRP I am not able to bring it back. I had got into this situations before but the dload always worked. Maybe now it isn't because I am on Oreo and the partitions are different from Nougat? I also tried formatting/erasing partitions from fastboot but gives me error/ remote command not allowed. I also tried Multi-Tool8 and used the unbrick option. but doesn't work it gives me all flashed, and when i flash the oreo files gives me all flashed Error#1, Complete, Something went wrong and bootloops again or gives me blank screens.
I have attached a screenshot of my device info. If anyone could help me breath life into it.

What command you use to flash TWRP? And what image are you trying to flash? Try this. In Fastboot flash RECOVERY-V2.img (Elemental ROM TWRP) via command.
fastboot flash recovery_ramdisk RECOVERY-V2.img
After it's flashed, press and Hold Power and Volume Up till you see Honor logo then let go. It Should boot to TWRP. If not then extract the Uodate.zip (the large one) and you will get Update.app and using Huawei Update Extractor extract System.img, Ramdisk.img and Recovery_ramdisk.img then boot phone to fastboot and flash them manually as
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot flash recovery_ramdisk Recovery_ramdis.img
And,
fastboot flash system system.img
This should work. It's a boot error.
I was in same mode in fastboot when i updated to Oreo and it was b340 which saved me from this via dload. You give it a try.
You may not be able to flash twrp now as your BL me be locked after dload.

I did try that but from the unbrick option from Multi-Tool. And also there are two recovery images in the UPDATE.APP and I don't know which one to flash. When I tried from the Multi-Tool, it says you're trying to flash the wrong image. Also I think the boot partition in oreo is ramdisk? I am not sure... because there is no boot image in the unbrick option. Although I didn't try flashing them individually. I will try it and let you know. Thanks.

Yes, boot is ramdisk in oreo and recovery is ramdisk_recovery.

So the B340 dload didn't work for me. Gives the same results. Always boots into erecovery and then fails to factory reset. Also the phone doesn't get switched on or boot into recovery without connecting to the USB. Only when it is connected it works, that too after 5-10 mins after I press the Power button or the Recovery key combination. And I used a 4GB memory card, could this be the reason the dload didn't work?

You may need 8 GB SD card if you have or can borrow and see if that helps. Whats the size of update.app file?

Something around 3.3 GB. There's only some 250mb left in the card when I copy the update.app

May be you can try with 8 gb once if it is easily available for you
Hi, so none of the methods work. But I could get back to TWRP for Elemental Rom. Still flashing roms from TWRP doesn't boot me in. And now the dload screen doesn't appear when I press the combination. All I have is fastboot mode, erecovery and TWRP installed. But none of the methods work. I am not able to figure what I am doing wrong!!
Try hurupdater.
http://https://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-9/development/tool-flash-official-firmware-recovery-t3769279
0.3 for nougat or 0.4 for oreo (in my case works)
And remember format data in first time
You need the firmware for your 6x...
Good luck!
hey i am in the same situation as yours, all i am able to boot into is fastboot, nothing beyond that is working, i have the extracted update.app for oreo , the last system i flashed was emui oreo , and nothing else is working i have tried all the options suggested.
