So I just reset from the new beta 3 9.0 due to terrible battery life. I also have heard 5.1.9 has terrible battery life as well. Should I just stay at 5.1.6 for now?

No. It does not have terrible battery life. A few people are having issues and blaming the update. Battery life is a userspace issue.
If you're concerned, do a full wipe and update, and you should be fine.

I did dirty flash this over the old CM12s firmware, would that be the reason I'm experiencing terrible battery life now? I can't even get through a full day while the old firmware did...
Is anyone else experiencing the same thing? Otherwise what ROM would you guys recommend for great battery life without much tinkering?
I've been flat out at University and I haven't kept up with any of the ROM development.
Cheers
It might be my imagination but I swear my battery life has gotten worse since my I did the last OTA update. Has anybody noticed any difference in better or worse battery life since the last update?

It actually seems better to me. I am not heavy user but before it would be pretty much empty at the end of the day. Now it hovers around %40 mark.
are you having any problems with charging the battery?
Good day.
I have been seeing in some post that after March (APC8) update, because of some mess in android, S7 began to use much more battery.
Did anyone compare it in real life?
Is it worth to downgrade?
If yes, what other function will be lost after the downgrade? (couldn't find any firmware version changelog)
Thank you.
hi, there is a noticable difference in battery life and SoT, I could hit around 6H SoT with my 900F (exynos) with mid/high usage running APC8, it was a very good built.
running BPJ5 atm and hitting around 3H SoT, sometimes little more or less so... yeah i guess its worth downgrading if you dont mind some minor updates and Samsung Cloud, I upgraded mine a few weeks ago, because of Samsung Cloud support and theres Android 7.0 behind corner so I would update anyway. cheers
im still wondering how could Samsung ruin the battery life so bad and not fix it for more than a half year
Im running BPJE latest update. Im on 5hr sot with 18hrs standby

Thank you for your reply.
From what i have read, it is android source code issue, not Samsung.
Maybe with 7.0 Nougat upgrade and it's enhanced Doze, could be back to the old battery life.

we will see. what is really intriguing is that some users are just fine with post-APC8 updates, like falcon here, i dont get it, really...
I have debloated my S7, no GPS, no heavy gaming.. i just dont get it..
I haven't tried BPJE yet, and I might after seeing this thread. I've tried BPJ1 and BPH6 and battery life was horrible - about 3hr SOT. Switched to APC8 and battery life doubled.
Update: I've now updated to BPJE, and the battery life is really good. Almost as good as APC8. Performance is better on BPJE so it's a good compromise between battery life and performance.
Anyone notice a significant drop in battery life in B360? I was quite happy with the SOT on 317 (just about 5h) and ever since I upgraded to 360 it's a drastic drop. Wondering if anyone else is experiencing this and how I can fix it.
So if you go to battery management, what's using your battery?

These are my latest statistics of N (B360) before rolling back to MM (B162). Something that caught my attention is the average estimates for screen on and screen off time. I got less screen off time with N than with MM but more screen on time. I think my VPN app might be the culprit for the lost of screen off time compared with 18-24hrs I was getting with MM, but can't tell for sure until I replicate the same use under MM.
So if I were to use my phone at the end of the day, after having it on standby at work, I'll probably have 3hrs of SOT before the phone goes into cardiac arrest. But my story is the opposite, I use it a lot at work and stop using it when I'm at home.

Gsam says COMBINED APP CPU. Everything's set up exactly the same as it was on 317. I used to get through the day with my moderate use with ~40% left. Now I have to charge in the afternoon. Bit annoying. Would factory reset help? I never actually did it after upgrading.

Could you check for me what is the default Power Plan in Nougat?
If I recall well is Performance but I'm not a 100% sure. Thanks.

I don't have a battery manager screen but Power Saving and Ultra modes are off, which again are the same as 317 for me.

Yeah I know that. I'm saying that my usage habits and apps using battery aren't much different. Just wondering if this is a known issue, or something that can be fixed by a factory reset.
I tried the B320 on my L19 for a week and had similar experience to the OP. Rolling back to MM allowed me to skip charging in the afternoon.

A week ago went back to MM (B162) and here are my latest battery stats. Total used time is better in MM than in N without question. So in conclusion, N is less battery efficient than MM. I just hope Huawei has this polished before February's update. Fingers crossed. :fingers-crossed:
First and second screen shots are MM.
Third and fourth are N.

So I actually rolled back my phone to 162, and then used the Charles method to go to 360 again (I previously used the dload method to update). Performed a factory reset after updating this time, and now my battery life is insane! Im at over 4h SOT with 52% battery left currently.
So for people that are experiencing battery drain on 360, perhaps try updating using Charles or officially instead of using dload, and do a factory reset after.

I've had the same experience as the last two posters. B360 improved my battery life a lot over previous beta versions. I still think Standby was better on MM, but I get more SOT with Nougat. I'm not sure how that makes sense, exactly.

Look in the Guides section, Sympathic way to update
same here with the battery drain. I update with hicare app via officially ota. I'm thinking to rollback to emui 4.1. Android OS is eating my battery on standby
EDIT: it seems i've solved with a rollback to emui 4.1 and then reupgrade via ota!
Hey,
I get second hand g930fd few weeks ago. I expected a better battery performance but it's horrible. I replaced the battery with an original one and again no improvement.
Can You suggest a solution?
I can't believe, that the 3000mah can't survive all day on average to high usage.
Currently on rooted Oreo stock rom.
Thanks in advance,

Gaming eats battery very quick
Not gaining at all. I am making around 2.5-3 hrs. SOT with one discharge.

Same here. Latest Oreo firmware and terrible battery life (it was the same before with marshmallow). I noticed that Android system is above screen in battery usage. That's not good. Something on Android is draining the battery. No idea what. I have a g930a running a g930u ROM for xaa (no company).

Have you tried re-aligning the dylithium matrix in the warp core?
I jest. But seriously every update adds more bloatware and system demands on the battery. Samsung is nudging you toward its latest phone the Sammy 10 but since there's no real need for us to pay a Kings ransom for their latest flagship every 12 months they need to up the game a little and this is how they do it.
They don't want customers holding onto old phones, no they want you to be impressed with a new camera or button or super-duper screen or something as equally unimpressive.
Custom ROM is they way to go and drastic de-bloats of stock firmware. Be ruthless, if you don't use it, get rid or disable.
Tried a full stock firmware flash with Odin? Assuming selling it second hand all they did was factory reset via settings or recovery, which isn't as clean as a full odin flash.
So any suggestion? Did the batterystat reset, let's see if it's work.
Probably downgrade to Android 7?
