Wondering what would happen if I were to disable this setting.
You want notice anything, except better battery life

can anybody confirm this? after only having the update for a short period of time and only using it for about a minute i feel like it may be draining the battery. when checking my battery use, it showed gesture search as 50%+ of my battery usage. i dont even have the new flip sensor thing enabled either.
Same thing happened on my phone. I had to use Task Killer to stop it from running.
Yes same thing here.
Yes, same here, but I don't think it's actually draining it. Because my battery doesn't percentage doesn't go down faster than normal. Hopefully they fix it soon because now I don't know what actually uses my battery
yeah, i cant tell if its actually draining either. i didnt really feel like testing it much though, i decided to just roll back the update untill the next update.
Noticed the same thing. 84% battery usage and I have used it maybe four times today. Gonna uninstall until further notice unless someone finds a solution.
Gesture search settings gives an option to disable double-flip feature. It's the new flip feature which eats all the battery. Disable it and you should be fine i guess. It even warns you while enabling flip.

Mine was disabled already.
I only have a simple task to enable/disable silent mode during certain times. My battery status doesn't show it as the culprit, but I'm pretty sure it is. I haven't changed any settings on my phone, except installing Tasker.

When you say draining your battery how much are you talking about? I would change your screen brightness, also if your battery monitor doesn't show it as culprit I doubt that it is, I have tasker installed and it uses next to no battery.
Hi, I'm using EMUI 5 on my Honor 8 (FRD-L04 so still noreo ) and was wondering if we still have to set apps to ignore battery optimization to get notifications. When I first got my phone I installed all the apps and set them to ignore battery optimizations so that I could get notifications but lately my battery life is pretty ****ty, especially since these apps ignore doze. So I'd like to know if people still have to set apps to ignore doze or does notifications work like they're supposed to after so many updates? Thanks!
By ignore battery optimization you mean enabling auto-start on each app? I haven't faced any battery life decrease with it enabled.

Not that one. Like inside settings there is a page called ignore battery optimizations which helps apps bypass doze.
I have noticed I have been getting less that average battery life with my Pixel 2. While looking through my developer options I noticed "Standby Apps". When I went into it I noticed all of my apps are set to "Active". Is this normal or happening to anybody else? How can I reset it to make sure it the phone automatically puts each app into the correct state?
Edit: Found the problem. Adaptive Battery was disabled.
Here's my issue. I have a smartwatch that's connected via bluetooth and periodically polls the phone to refresh it's data. If the phone is locked for a few minutes, it stops working. If I simply turn the screen on it starts working fine again. I need to disable this behavior and I don't really care about the impact on battery life
I have completely disabled any battery optimization on the device, running stock kernel. I have tried "dumpsys deviceidle disable".
How can I fix this? Really annoying that android decides to shut down certain background apps on its own without giving me a choice. It looks like it's unrelated to battery optimization. Perhaps there's a separate setting for bluetooth that I'm missing?
