So I was disappointed to find out the camera has the same limitations on video as previous phones such as 10 minute limit and certain functions being disabled. I've tried other 3rd party camera apps but they don't seem to fully support the S8. Certain things like 60fps in 1080p don't even show up in the ones I've tried. It's probably too early yet to ask for a modded camera apk, but I hope we get one soon.
I'm upset that as far as I know the camera app won't shoot in automode in RAW.
It's a pain if you want to take a quick photo in RAW.

That's a bummer hey. But i do know if you go into pro mode and set everything in pro mode to auto ... ( yes you can do that ) .
Then just have to open camera and enter pro mode and take a pic.
Also one work around is just add pro mode to your home screen .
Obviously have to unlock your device and click on that icon then ( so will take the same amount of time if you just switched to pro mode in the camera app.)
Will check it out. Ta.
I don't own a Mi A1 yet. But planning to buy one. Today I've found something interesting while searching google. Can anyone test it and let me know if it works? Thanks in advance.
The original post is here.
There is a way to enable EIS on Nexus 5X just as it's enabled in Nexus 6P. It was posted originally on Reddit here.
As EIS is a software thing, so i think the same procedure might work on Mi A1.
1. Edit build.prop
2. Add this line: persist.camera.eis.enable=1
3. Reboot
4. Go to Google Camera settings --> Resolution & Quality
5. Check "Enable video stabilization"
the camera app on mi A1 is customised and controlled by xiaomi unlike google on nexus 5x and 6p so i don't think it will work.If xiaomi pushes an update in the future to enable it then it would be great as they compared this camera to iphone 7 plus and OP5 and both have stabilization enabled on them but this phone doesn't!

Doesn't work.
Just installing the official Google Camera from APK Mirror was enough for EIS to work for me.

For me, the Google Camera from apkmirror force closes
Did you use https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/googl...amera-4-4-020-163412804-android-apk-download/ ?
I installed the modded HDR+ Google Camera first then uninstalled if that matters.

i tried it but the google camera crashes as soon as you open it so you can't try that!
By the way, you could try Open Camera and it's stabilization feature.

I installed Google hdr+ and open camera...photos are absolutely brilliant with Google camera
...of course the worst is stock mi camera..it just gives artefacts and my unit the focus from that app is way off and everything looked out of focus.
.but getting good shots with Google camera hdr+ and there is electronic image stabilization in Google which should be the reason why mi app photos are really blurred
...am rooted via flashfire SuperSU on September patch. did build.prop edit to make Google camera work. Also made it system app . Else was fc on opening.. now all fine... enjoying my 15k pixel device..hehe..infact I have installed substratum and installed pixel ui as well...only thing I haven't tried is viper yet...but all root apps TB, BusyBox, es file explorer pro, etc working like charm..
@rexisrex I'm willing to take the same steps as you once I get my hands on the device. Could you provide some sample shots of the google camera ? Sample videos with stabilization would be cool as well if that's not asking too much.

Sure will upload once I get home in the evening.. I'll upload photos from mi camera, Google hdr+ and open camera..video will upload Google's..
Have attached few samples...didn't have time to go out and take real photos..but this should give an idea..
All snaps are HDR and mi camera photos have HDR in caps at end of file. Google camera shots won't have HDR in file name...paucity of time. So kindly excuse..have taken sample 20sec video from both camera..don't know how to upload.
Kindly find my Google camera HDR+...it has video stabilization in options..have video sample but it's still a bit shaky but miles better than Mi video...
But I'm overall impressed with Google camera on this device..mi camera suffers moment light fades.. Google camera excels there..but with software updates mi camera has huge scope to get better..with ideal light conditions it creates good shots but highly exaggerated colors..

Use the modded camera from here. Install it normally but remove previous versions before.. https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=889764386195922284
If still fc, Have you rooted your A1? If no then no luck..
If yes, then you have to do build.prop edit by adding this line
persist.camera.eis.enable= 1
at the end of file, save and reboot..
It Should work now. Camera might fc once even after this hack but from next time works without hiccups. Expect a fc once a while as ours isn't a pixel device
Hello,
Today i purchased a Google Pixel 2 XL 64GB model. I was a proud owner of the Google Pixel XL.
There is one thing bugging me on the 2 XL. Whenever i take photos using the stock camera app with the front facing camera the lighting corrects in such a weird way so photos look really weird.
This also happens with other apps like Snapchat and Instagram.
Does anyone know if i can turn off color correction for just the camera or something?
Thanks in advance!
Please upload an example of your issue.

Please see the YouTube link below - I believe they address the issue of pics taken vs. pics viewed via phone display vs. pics viewed via Instagram/Snapchat. This critique is towards the end of video

Color correction
The video didnt come close to the actual problem im having.
For example when i try to make a selfie using snapchat or instagram, before i take the picture my face has pale natural color which is perfect. when i took the picture and look it up in my Photo gallery it just looks awful.
My skin color turned greyish. This has nothing to do with the lighting in the area im in. Ive tried many different areas when taking pictures and they all result in the same weird greyish color
Pics or it didn't happen...
There is some known issue's with Pixel 2 and will be fixed by releasing patch and this would be a permanent solution.
Take a picture with hdr+ off and see if there any difference.
Here are some examples
This one is a picture before it has actually been taken, so its a preview
https://drive.google.com/open?id=1C_AJVL93j52oSQ-5N9bIk2fvW4cuMqZOYQ
This is the actual saved picture
https://drive.google.com/open?id=1G2KVE_I0oeCKC9lp4hNHzo6YfhhWlshing
As you can see it has some difference and the saved picture just looks worse.
Another example.

Did you reboot? This is, I think, the way it works.
The Visual Core you enabled doesn't work for the viewfinder preview in non-stock-camera apps, and I'm not sure it ever will.
Either turn hdr off in these apps if you prefer the blown-out look, or use the stock app and add to instagram app

I have no idea how to turn off hdr off for specified apps like instagram or snapchat
I honestly don't see the issue in your samples. The only thing I noticed is that you're using snap chat which takes terrible low resolution photos. That night be one reason why the image looks so bad.
its a problem of snapchat, try taking pic in instagram with pixel core on , instagram, facebook, twitter take awesome photos but snapchat its a trash

But thats weird isnt it? i mean if it worked fine on my google pixel XL...
I downgraded to an older version of snapchat and now the quality is fine again!
Not taking any credit for this. I initially found it posted on reddit and was surprised to not see it here yet..
Here is the link to the Pixel 3 Camera APK.:
https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/google-inc/camera/camera-6-1-009-215420794-release/
I can confirm it works on my Pixel 2. No rooting required. Just install. Updates existing camera app.
Thanks for sharing!
great, confirm working on my pixel 2, no root, updated my pixel cam app.
I found if "Pixel 2 Blurry Panorama Fix" magisk module was installed and enabled, this new camera apk would force close.
i use that link ;
https://download.apkquick.com/file/Google/Pixel3camera/Pixel3Camera.apk.html
Look's good but picture quality it's the same or not ?
I feel like it doesn't capture as fast
Is there any way to revert?
Turn off the motion setting. It's the setting that makes a short video and a photo.

Go to settings, applications, camera app and tap on three dots on up right corner and uninstall updates.
I'm struggling to get RAW images to open in Snapseed. No idea if this is a problem with the files being created in the Camera app, or Snapseed...
Steps:-
1. Take a lens blur photo using any google camera mod..
2. Open Google Photos and open edit menu.. if you look carefully you'll see "color pop" option.
That's it.. it only works for lens blur photos for now.. google photos official Twitter posted few days ago that color pop for portraits only working for pixel and some moto devices..
The option look like this.
