The battery of My OnePlus 6 is draining drastically like a years old phone - OnePlus 6 Questions & Answers

I am facing issues with OnePlus 6 mobile. Last night I have charged the phone to 100% and to my shock when I woke up in the morning the battery left is just 6%. This is definitely not normal. Yesterday I got a feeling that battery is draining fast and so I have removed all the cache, tried deep clear/clean.
Note: I haven't updated my phone from oxygen5.1.0
I want my issue to be resolved as soon as possible.

Do a full wipe and update your phone. You have some rogue app draining battery.

Why don't you update? Oh man you make life complicated

Update to 5.1.9

I love how they demand "I want my issue to be resolved as soon as possible." like we do not have other jobs or things to do but to serve him!
Anyway update to 5.1.9 do a full factory reset and see how it goes.

Got 3 a 5 hours sot with always on display. Without it I get around 5 a 6 hours. Battery is a bit to small in my experience.

Are you a member or admin of this ??
If you are an admin, I think you have started this with the intension of helping people with possible solutions. So why do you take it as a demand and why don't you think it as asking for help in a less polite way
If you are just a member, why did you login into this site if you have some other work or job. No one asked you to solve their problems as a priority. It's your decision to help people or not. By the way I didn't write that line with intension of demand. Why would I demand something from a total stranger without any valid reason. Don't simply misunderstand people.

I want my issue to be resolved as soon as possible.
The above is demanding that your problem be resolved as soon as possible, maybe next time leave lines like that out you’ll get answers quick enough regardless.

How I solve my battery drain issues, inside battery stats menu the process (system Android) was consuming most of the battery juice, I upgrade from oxygen os 5.1.8 to 5.1.9 using the app " oxygen updater " but then oneplus publish the update on the website and I notice the file names aren't the same so
My steps
1 download the oxygen os 5.1.9 full zip from oneplus website
2 without wiping dirty flash the zip
3 wipe dalvic cache
4 flash twrp zip to keep twrp recovery
5 boot system
6 reboot to twrp
7 flash magisk 16.4 (to avoid "vendor miss match message" )
8 boot system
9 using magisk app upgrade magisk to 16.7 using direct install
So far "system Android" is using just 2% before was at the top even over screen consumption.

I'm surprised you said you don't see any improvement in performance because I certainly did.. I'm even getting between 8 and 11 hours of SOT whereas before I was only getting around 4 to 6 so it literally doubled it.. It may also be because I've got a lot of things disabled and I did an entire clean installation of the new firmware because I factory reset right after flashing it and then disabled/ removed a lot of junk and so far it's working better than any of the other ones I've tried!!
I happened to factory reset just before I knew of any new update. Now that I have the update, should I do it again?

Yes, it is always best to reset after a update.
Have used the update for a couple days now without doing a reset and so far it is better than the last update with a reset with performance and battery life, very impressive. I didn't disable any services/packages, only the disabling of apps which the UI allows by dragging/dropping from the app drawer since my last reset. This helps immensely with the ability to do dirty updates and staying at near peak performance, just an FYI.
May do a full reset this weekend just to be able to start fresh and test, but may not if the current state of my phone stays the same.

Yes when I said "clean installation" I meant factory reset. Sorry about that. I did the factory reset after I installed the update. Don't do it before that, it's pointless.

When you guys reset, do you use the most recent copy or install from scratch? I see 3 choices, last 3 days, last 30 days, or install a fresh copy. I used the last 3 days choice.
All it does is install your apps so you don't have to pick them out once at a time.
Thanks

I start from scratch.. I don't let it install anything unless I manually tap it to do it so before I turn on my WiFi I set the Google play store and the Galaxy apps to not auto update so it doesn't start updating everything right away.

You know, I think its possible to go way overboard on the whole reset after every update thing. Remember that now that Samsung is pushing the monthly Android security patches on a more or less consistent basis, you are going to be getting an update almost every month. Do you really want to be resetting that often? Up to you but that's not for me. I did do a reset when it went from 5.x to 6.x but I don't reset just for the monthly updates. I haven't had any problems either. I may do a "just because" reset after six months or so, but I think if you are doing this for every single update its going to get old really fast.

If you know what you're doing, and which backup apps to use, guess what? It takes less than 5 minutes to restore all of your stuff after a full reset..

Can you elaborate for the people that it takes longer than 5-10 minutes to re-setup? Are you using a backup program (which one) to use keep your data settings? I know some programs will allow you to backup the data/settings so you don't have to start from scratch but not all allow you to do this. I'm just throwing this out there. I don't need it because I like to reset mine back up... Makes it feel as I have a new phone.
anyone have the Tar Ball for this update? I have a Note 5 in an endless bootloop and SamMobile takes more than two hours to down load. The bootloop is so bad that you cannot get into recovery, the hardware power down does not allow factory reset or power off and the only one that seems to work is to odin the clean software.
Thanks.

Help: Android system consuming 90% overnight... in deep sleep. Battery down by ~15%

I did a complete charge last night before I hit the sack. Battery was around 96%, today morning 80%!
I flashed stock ROM using TWRP, on first charge cycle battery is fine - just 1% overnight drain with 8 hrs SOT. On second charge cycle this issue hits me everytime.
All my radios are usually off (WiFi, NFC, Bluetooth, Data).
My phone seems to be in deep sleep a good portion of that time (See WLD statistics - attachment #1).
Android system sucks my battery during sleep and it was at 90% relative consumption when I woke up (See screen shot #1, Android sys has consumed 1840mAh!! This is ridiculously high for a phone that is apparently in Deep Sleep!)
Also attached screen shots from WLD for Summary, Kernal / Partial wakelocks & Alarms.
Device is rooted.
Going crazy trying to find out what's happening.
This happened with KangVIP and my current B180 ROM's which have great battery life as reported by other users here .

This is an unacceptable level of drain. I get similar numbers. This is getting very annoying. I am spending hours just debugging this nonsense.
When did you install / reset your ROM? What is the build you are on? I have read some posts that suggest to let the system be for first few days since it is in a "Learning Phase". Mine is currently in that phase.
Also, I find that many users here are not facing this issue on the ROM's that I am on, but some users are. I have faced this in multiple different ROM's.
Hence, I suspect this is an issue of some setting that we have changed. This is the first thing I do after reset / flash - modify a bunch of settings.
After searching and reading a lot, I have not come across any solid solutions from anywhere.
Here's a solution from the other thread. But I don't have this in system/apps. So this goes down the drain.

Couple others that are worth mentioning,
1. WiFi causing the drain (Am currently debugging this, modifying options).
2. Format SD card on new ROM, or just remove it (Would be great if you could try this out).
3. Factory reset has not solved for most people, but for some. (Did they *not* tweak some setting after reset?)
4. I think much of this drain is experienced after, charging and during sleep after that!

What value do u have for WiFi -> Advanced -> Keep WiFi on During sleep?
I had the battery drain till last night. Before sleeping I charged it completely, and modified this WiFi setting. Overnight I had only 2% drain as compared to +15% over last few days.
Battery looks good for now. I had the feeling that my WiFi is consuming more power than 4G (Need to verify if I am right). Currently observing.
I hope it is not one of those sporadic issues!

I presume u have been facing this issue at least over past few days now, not just a day or two.
Try toggling to Never. Recharge to full before you hit the sack. Lets see if that changes anything. This helped me, but need to observe for multiple consecutive days.

That's one of the first few things I disable. Nor do I use backup.
The battery drain is back. Disappeared for just a couple of days.
Is there anyone who knows how to fix this issue?
I would request you to do a back up of your apps and then factory reset and then again flash the ROM but via dload method.
Everything will be fine.
Then you can restore your apps

Permissions granted to Gsam Pro and Wakelock Detector keep resetting on reboot

I have a strange problem that so far only seems to be plaguing my new S8+. I use both Gsam Pro and Wakelock Detector to identify problematic apps that needs some TLC. As I do not root I would normally just provide appropriate permissions to the two apps via ADB and all is well until I have to factory erase or reinstall for some reason. With the S8+ however the granted permissions will randomly reset themselves after a reboot. Not every reboot will do this, some only. It is totally random. When the permissions are gone I actually have to reapply them before the two apps can be used properly again. Any idea what is resetting the permissions?
Thoughts?

hi ,
Just to add support, to your question .
I have the S8+ for _+ 4 days .
My S8+ is also not rooted ,stock ROM .
I have also Gsam ,Wakelock Dectector and BetterBattery Stats on phone .Also used ADB
to configure Gsam and BetterBattery Stats .( forgot to configure Wakelock .....thanks )
I at least reboot my device once a day (a habit !! )
Anyway BetterBattery Stats has once resetted itself over period of time
Gsam i have had not issues yet .
Will see if Wakelock Dectector stick .
I have had problems with gsam, yesterday i was able to reboot ok and gsam remained ok. this morning my AQDD update arrived and after installing that, gsam has reverted to showing no breakdown again. However I also had trouble with gsam when i first gave it permissions via ADB with it refusing to work.....until I had fully charged it, then suddenly it started showing me the breakdown again. At the time of installing the update this morning I only had 40% battery left so I am wondering if it has something to do with the battery percentage and reboots causing it (nougat itself still knows it has had 4h screen on time). I did not re-do the permissions in between, i just charged it to full and suddenly gsam started showing the full app breakdown instead of the one item, so I dont think it is actually losing permissions, it seems to be something else causing it to firstly reset the timers and secondly stop showing the breakdown properly.
The other issue is that even yesterday and the day before, when it was correctly showing the full cpu app breakdown, every time i reboot, it reset my screen on time and other stats! The Nougat stats still showed the correct screen on time. I tried both sets of stats "since last unplugged" and "since last full charge" and it had reset both. It WAS still showing the breakdown (unlike today), it had just reset all the timers like it does every time i reboot.
Hmm, maybe we should reach out to the developers to let them know. I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one.

I did email the gsam dev a few days ago when I was first trying to make it work, but didnt get a reply. If we all email him maybe they will fix it
How do I see what version it is? Package disabler doesnt show version numbers of the packages, I haven't seen any update for DQA though so it sould still be the default one.
Updated DQA is 1.1.13-10
It's called base.apk for some odd reason per APK Info.

Hello...
Did you get answer from Gsam developer??... I'm having this issue as well. The Gsam it's working well, but suddenly the stats had been reset and not showing the full cpu app breakdown.
Also there is a small gap on the android graphic, so I guess is something related to a kind of power subsystem restart or something like that, but BetterBatteryStats are working well....

Yes, you're probably correct. No problem ?
I have the same problem but Gsam is dead and no longer being supported. It resets on my 6p, Pixel XL and it did the same on my old s8Plus. It literally just reset on my Pixel XL with 64% battery left. Sometimes I can bring the stats back by force closing it and clearing the cache but that doesn't always work. It didn't use to do this. Oh well. I guess we'll have to live with it because it's not going to get fixed. It sucks because I love Gsam. I also had Wakelock Detector and Better Battery Stats reset. I think it's something to do with Android.

Yes I guess is something related to Nougat. Wakelock detector also fails, but BBS it is not failing at all, but this is because BBS is still under development, and it is up to date, use it.

I'm not on Nougat. I'm on Oreo on my 6p and Pixel XL. Gsam started acting weird on Nougat and continues to on Oreo. It's weird because I've never had Gsam reset on my Axon 7 on Nougat but it did on my 6p when it was on Nougat. It just started doing it out of nowhere. When Gsam would reset BBS would too. BBS had an update awhile back so maybe that corrected it. I usually have both of those apps installed. Gsam reset on my Pixel XL yesterday but BBS didn't. I guess I'll keep using Gsam and BBS. Gsam provides me with good information until it resets. Lol

Huge battery drain all the time (hardware issue?)

Hey guys, I was hoping you could help me pinpoint the reasons why my Honor 8 suddenly can't get 2 hours of SOT and can't barely hold a charge for more than 6h with little usage.

19% battery
49min with screen on
6h30 powered on since last full charge
It's a FRD-AL10 model bought in Gearbest in August 2017 that came rebranded as FRD-L19C636.
It was working reasonably untill recently, when the battery began to die really fast, with no apparent reason.
When it first happened, it had B360 firmware installed.
I though that maybe forcing the update to B380 it would make a change. It didn't. Same for B390.
Did a Factory reset, no luck.
At that point I decided to unlock the bootloader and try custom roms, but the fact that the camera didn't work properly in none of them was enough to discard that option without further tests.
I went back to stock B360 (even though now the phone displays the test mode rom now - I'll handle it later).
So that's it: I've done several full formats and factory resets by now, and the battery performance remains poor, even though the phone is less than a year old.
This kind of happened suddenly, that's why I was thinking it was software related, but I'm not sure anymore, since the drain persists in multiple firmwares and after multiple resets, and cleanings of cache.
Thanks for the help!
It's cause of Google play services. They rolled out a bad update. The same is happening to my device. We'll have to just wait till they release a new update.

Haha I was losing my mind regarding this, I thought I was the only one facing this till I came across your thread.
If you check out the play store reviews of play services from the past 3 days you'll see lots of people complaining about the same.

You need to roll back the update
or reset the settings to factory settings.
I got the same s***t.

Thank you guys, my girlfriend and I are both having battery drain issues. I really hope it is a software issue that will get fixed. We both really love the phone .
AccuBattery is consistently saying my battery health is around 1300mAh, after many recharge cycles.
This info persists after a brand new factory reset and rollback to B360.
I guess the battery is indeed the one main culprit here.

Android system+OS battery drain

Hey guys
At the beginning of my use of the OP the battery was really impressing, I also managed to reach the 7 Screen. The last week the battery has started to disappoint me, I thought at first that maybe the fault was that I was browsing too much on Facebook but i found out that Facebook is not at all causing the sharp drop in screen hours.
Android System and Android OS are my biggest waste of battery and come out in 3 1/2 hours of screen time. What can be done to improve it?
Man that's bad, i one played almost all day Kingdom Rush and world of tanks and my battery was still over 6h screen time. i don't know how that was possible

How it's your screen off/active graphs?
Are you phone rooted? If yes, you can install BetterBatteryStats to see what alarms/wakelocks are waking up the phone when inactive or find the app that are draining battery.

When I was using a Pocophone I knew Qualcomm-related bug that makes bluetooth prevents phone to enter deep sleep.
Try to disable bluetooth before restart and see the battery life. Maybe it helps
Hi!
I know that this will be a little bit clunky but i had the same problem (and lagg issues too) when i update from 9.5.8 to 9.5.9. The only solution was reboot on Recovery Mode (you can activate the advance power option from developer settings) and clear/wipe the caches and dalvik.
I dont know in with version of OS are you but with Oxgen Updater (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.arjanvlek.oxygenupdater&hl=es) update to 9.5.10 and reset caches.
Hope can i help!
PS: sorry for my bad english

Yes, im on 9.5.11. Always, after installing a OTA, I wipe caches. My OP is giving me arround 7 / 7:30 hours screen on time. Its simple and works for me!
