Xposed - HTC U12+ Questions & Answers

Just out of curiosity, has anyone tried to install xposed sdk 26 on their u12 yet or is it foolish without a recovery backup?

I flashed it using the Magisk App. Only thing I use it for is Greenify.
But with any Android around here. Make sure you have backups etc.
I personally have an RUU saved so if anything I'll just reflash my phone.

I use the Magisk Module "Xposed Framework (SDK 26)", systemless. It works without problems, but you neeed to use a special Xposed Installer app, linked in the module description.
The following Xposed Modules work for me: AFWall+, GravityBox [O], XPrivacyLua

Anyone have any more experience with Xposed on the U12+? There are just a few mods and tweaks I am missing and thinking about trying Xposed. I will report back my experience, thanks.

I was able to install Xposed with no issues but couldn't install gravitybox, plus it states that Xposed is for pure vanilla ROMs so I don't know

Xposed + GravityBox, XInsta and Greenify works without any problems. Disabled it because I want to use Google pay (doesn't work together)

Do not fool with Xposed. It is not worth the trouble I promise.

Which features are you missing. Maybe there's a Magisk Module available for the one of the other.

The only thing I really miss is back to kill. Really don't need much more. Probably don't even need that, it just became a habit lol. By the way, trying Xposed screwed my ability to use face unlock even after removing it. I had to run the RUU to get it back.
***EDIT I also miss the advanced power menu.

Well the APM is included in LeeDrOiD Shortcutter as far as I can tell. Will check for the back to kill thingy.

There is an Xposed module for that.
I haven't tried it yet on the S4 and the download site is down ATM.
You can also try the MoDaCo Toolkit, that has that module in it too
I'm interested. It was very useful in my Galaxy S3.

Could be, this is from the MoDoCo change log:
Note that the NFC on screen off functionality is tested against AOSP and may not work if your device manufacturer has fritzed with the NFC code a lot.

The module is loaded at boot, so no root access is being asked for that. The Xposed installer will need root access though.
Also Xposed requires a specific order in how to install thing.
First install Xposed installer, than install/update from the Xposed installer and reboot.
Then install the module, MoDoCo in this case, activate it in Xposed and reboot again.

I can confirm that it works. I installed the xposed framework, then I installed the modaco toolkit. I then enabled the NFC screen off module in the modaco toolkit; then I enabled the module in the xposed framework and rebooted the phone. Works like a charm!

An alternative to Modaco would be nottach's xposed module for the att gs4. I'm using it on my t-mobile stock rooted galaxy s4 and screen off nfc works just fine, as well as several other features. Here's the thread, detailed install instructions are in it as well: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2285074

Hi there, I'm on Omega v11 - ZHUDMH6 with Samsung Galaxy S4 I9505 . I wonder if your older version for screen off would work?

This is not my app, just sharing what is good.
I know this has been out awhile and many of you guys have already tried this, but this is for those who have not tried/heard/read/drank it.
Not guarantee to work on all rom!!!! <<<<<<< Read this!!!
[FRAMEWORK ONLY!] Xposed - ROM modding without modifying APKs (2.3.1)(10.10.2013)
Here's a link to the apk. You could also get the link from the above thread.
Here's the index to all the mods that it has to offer.
It's actually pretty simply to use. Just download and install Xposed Installer APK. A reboot is needed.
Then install the module. It is possible to download and install the modules from the app itself by selecting download. Remember to enable them in modules. A second reboot is required.
Open the modules u install and mod your device the way u like it to be.
1. Install exposed installer apk
2. Reboot
3. Download and install modules
4. Enable modules
5. Reboot
6. You are ready to mod

Tips:
I tried GravityBox and change the softkey, disable led while charging, quick unlock using pin without keying enter and among other things.
This is only one the many other modules out there.
Use Xposed Additions to remap soft keys. GravityBox offers the same feature but doesn't have remap for search key.

MIUI V5
If you're using miui V5, use version 2.1.8 and do not update. on 2.2.1 i had bootloops after reboot.
Using xposed addition fix the non functioning search button.
And there are a few other modules that you can use to customized your phone.

Currently on Desire xs by thantos2024. I'm using xbutton action and xbattery themer, both are working fine. xposed addition seems to give some pop up toast massage asking for a restart, so i wouldnt recommend that. Seems to happen only on sense rom, was on viper and it gave the some toast msg.
Unfortunately only are few mods are available for sense.
If anythings gets mess up, just reflash the rom wiping only dalvik and cache. or make a nandroid backup.

[Q] Possible to Replace Built-In SuperUser with SuperSU in ROM Settings?

Does anyone know if this is possible?
Actually, does anyone know if any of these are possible?
1.) Replace the Visually Built-In SuperUser with SuperSU found in the ROM Settings.
2.) Completely Remove/Uninstall SuperUser from ROM Settings so that it can no longer be seen or found.
If so, would you please be so kind in posting a simple tutorial?
Thanks so much in advance!
You would have to decompile the settings apk and remove the header for the superuser app. Then you would need to create a new header linked to an intent that would open the SuperSU package. Not really worth the amount of work if you ask me.
You do realize that by flashing SuperSU on top of a rom that already has superuser built in, superuser is completely removed and replaced by SuperSU regardless of the fact that it still has a header in the settings.

After reading your very much appreciated response, I take it that neither of these can be done neither quick or easy.
Thank you and yes I do understand that, but I atleast want to remove it if I can't replace it. For me personally, it sticks out like a swore thumb.
I truly think that even if only one of these were available, countless people would appreciate it. When researching this I found nearly endless posts on the subject where users were trying to do something of the matter. Sounds like it might be worth it?

I apologize for my late reply. I wasn't aware that anyone has made a post after my last.
Anyway, just recently I discovered Xposed Framework and its awesome potential, so I am now using SuperSU and using Google's stock 4.4.2 ROM.
I really appreciate you offering to help me, that's really cool thank you. Now that I'm on the stock 4.4.2 ROM my only desire to still do this would be to implement/embed my SuperSU app into my settings which I think would be so cool seeing that its an original stock ROM. Similar to the way the custom CM ROMs do it but not the way they prompt you for root permission, I would simply like to keep the way SuperSU does it with its popup.
If you are still help me with this and willing to give it a shot, that would be really cool and I would feel pretty special having being the only one with SuperSU embedded into stock ROM settings . If you are still willing to attept something like this please let me know as I would be stoked having the original SuperSU embeded into the settings of the original 4.4.2 stock ROM . Thanks a lot!

Sure, but the problem is that since you are now on stock rom, the phone is now odexed. Each apk has a corresponding odex file, which makes it tougher to modify stuff like this. If you could switch the stock deodexed rom it might make this possible.

Oh, for some reason I thought that odexed ROMs needed some extra things done for apk modifications. Sorry for the misinformation.
I am running Mahdi ROM, latest version came with Superuser. I prefer SuperSU as it gets updated and maintained more often, so I flashed the latest (1.91) update zip and now I have both. It did not remove the integrated Superuser that came with the ROM settings.

Do you have any other modules already working?
If not, after you installed "xposed installer", did you install the framework from within the app? you should have installed the framework and been prompted to reboot. then you install gravity box, and make sure to check the box next to it in the modules menu (may require another reboot, i do not recall). After this you will be able to change the settings within gravity box (some / most changes also require a reboot to take effect)

Yes i have another module running. I know about rebooting and all, it just wouldn't work for me. After some searching, it was suggested that i try an older version. I installed version 2.7.2 and it works. Just seems a little less refined, but atleast it works.

Anybody know if this is available yet for our phone. I used to have this and it was great. I especially liked it for allowing YouTube to play in the background.

Yes, as long as you're rooted with Magisk. Download the SDK 26 framework version if you're on Oreo.
If you're only interested in background playing for YouTube, there is a Magisk module for that, too, so you wouldn't need Xposed. I'm only running it for GravityBox so I couid change a few SystemUI components.
Additional info from the screenshots. Check the official Magisk and Xposed XDA threads for any downloads you may need.

Strange... Works fine on my end. You may need to fully uninstall YouTube first, then install the Magisk module and reboot. A reboot after uninstalling YouTube may be helpful, too. Also, when I install an updated LeeDroid ROM, I choose not to install YouTube during the Aroma setup process. Then through Magisk, I install the background YouTube module.
You can use Firefox with this plugin:

Also you can use Firefox in desktop version to let Youtube run in background.
