Xposed framework - HTC U11 Questions & Answers

Anybody know if this is available yet for our phone. I used to have this and it was great. I especially liked it for allowing YouTube to play in the background.

Yes, as long as you're rooted with Magisk. Download the SDK 26 framework version if you're on Oreo.
If you're only interested in background playing for YouTube, there is a Magisk module for that, too, so you wouldn't need Xposed. I'm only running it for GravityBox so I couid change a few SystemUI components.

Additional info from the screenshots. Check the official Magisk and Xposed XDA threads for any downloads you may need.

Seems the magisk module isn't working to keep YouTube open in the background. I'll try the xposed now.

Strange... Works fine on my end. You may need to fully uninstall YouTube first, then install the Magisk module and reboot. A reboot after uninstalling YouTube may be helpful, too. Also, when I install an updated LeeDroid ROM, I choose not to install YouTube during the Aroma setup process. Then through Magisk, I install the background YouTube module.

You can use Firefox with this plugin:

Also you can use Firefox in desktop version to let Youtube run in background.

Xposed module? Gravitybox?

I noticed there is no xposed module or gravitybox for the Droids. Can we just use the Moto X stuff and it will work the same?

Where can i download the gravitybox for my Maxx on 4.2.2? I tried downloading it from the xposed installer>download menu, it installs, but won't open. Gives an error:
"GravityBox system framework not responding. Exiting."
I downloaded GravityBox(by [email protected]) for JB ver. 2.9.4
Thanks

Do you have any other modules already working?
If not, after you installed "xposed installer", did you install the framework from within the app? you should have installed the framework and been prompted to reboot. then you install gravity box, and make sure to check the box next to it in the modules menu (may require another reboot, i do not recall). After this you will be able to change the settings within gravity box (some / most changes also require a reboot to take effect)

Yes i have another module running. I know about rebooting and all, it just wouldn't work for me. After some searching, it was suggested that i try an older version. I installed version 2.7.2 and it works. Just seems a little less refined, but atleast it works.

This thread is old but does anyone else thats using GravityBox not have the option in the settings for Notification Drawer Style missing the option to set the Custom Image? Only options that seem to work are Default Background and Color Fill.

[NO ROOT - NO XPOSED] Official Youtube Background Patched APK

With root and xposed is easy to make Youtube playing on background, but if you don't have root? You dont have xposed? Or simply you are on Nougat and there's no more xposed?
Well there, here's the official app Youtube, last official Build patched
Download link coming soon.
It works on almost every device that support Youtube.
From Android 4.4 to Android 7.0/1/2
Background works like the old one, pushing notification on the statusbar.
The package is update to the lastest version of Youtube.
I'm 'working' to a No-Ads / Background version of youtube, cheers;
I'm working for the first apk, i'll work on the one without ADS with background after that.

My mistake! Find out i've upload the wrong apk, i'll update the link as fast possible.
Anyone know if you're able to login to YouTube? OGYoutube doesn't let me and I'm looking for a replacement. Possibly this one once you add ad blocking.

This is like the same when you are on ROOT and you use the patch from Lucky patcher on a Nougat device, or the same like using XPOSED module. You can login easily but you won't have any real-time update from Google Playstore. I'll try to update the apk as fast possible when i get a new official update.

Xposed

Just out of curiosity, has anyone tried to install xposed sdk 26 on their u12 yet or is it foolish without a recovery backup?
I flashed it using the Magisk App. Only thing I use it for is Greenify.
But with any Android around here. Make sure you have backups etc.
I personally have an RUU saved so if anything I'll just reflash my phone.
I use the Magisk Module "Xposed Framework (SDK 26)", systemless. It works without problems, but you neeed to use a special Xposed Installer app, linked in the module description.
The following Xposed Modules work for me: AFWall+, GravityBox [O], XPrivacyLua
Anyone have any more experience with Xposed on the U12+? There are just a few mods and tweaks I am missing and thinking about trying Xposed. I will report back my experience, thanks.
I was able to install Xposed with no issues but couldn't install gravitybox, plus it states that Xposed is for pure vanilla ROMs so I don't know
Xposed + GravityBox, XInsta and Greenify works without any problems. Disabled it because I want to use Google pay (doesn't work together)
Do not fool with Xposed. It is not worth the trouble I promise.

The only thing I really miss is back to kill. Really don't need much more. Probably don't even need that, it just became a habit lol. By the way, trying Xposed screwed my ability to use face unlock even after removing it. I had to run the RUU to get it back.
***EDIT I also miss the advanced power menu.

Could MicroG be used?

so with lzplay out of the picture, could we just install the microG core apk to get some of the google services like google drive and youtube to work?
thanks!
Hi, as far as I know, MicroG needs Signature spoofing which, in turn, needs root.
there are versions of microG that only installs by apk, such as the one for youtube vanced
would that work? (actually i was researching huawei club forum and saw some chinese users successfully installed it onto their M6, which also didnt have GMS)
Youtube can work.
You need to install VirtualXposed then in it's settings choose Install Google Services.
https://github.com/android-hacker/VirtualXposed/releases
Now you can install MicroG and the non-root version of Youtube Vanced app inside VirtualXposed - Xposed icon - Modules.
https://vanced.app/APKs?type=NONROOT
More info
https://github.com/android-hacker/VirtualXposed/wiki/Google-service-support
You can also install the MicroG apps manually.
It seems the core app here is newer than the one automatically installed by VirtualXposed.
https://microg.org/download.html
Also remember to activate the FakeGapps module inside the Xposed icon.
Google Maps should also work but not login.
Streaming apps should also work that rely on Safetynet.
If a streaming app uses advanced Safetynet checks, you can install the Hijack Suite module in VirtualXposed and it will fake your device's info and Safetynet will pass in some cases.
VirtualXposed doesn't need an unlocked bootloader or a rooted device and can support fake signature permissions which MicroG needs so you can run it.
I think there are some problems with the latest MicroG core app v0.2.8 or VirtualXposed but it should be fixed soon I hope.
You can use UptoDown, Amazon or APKPure app stores.
They work well.
UptoDown is very lean and can also be installed in VirtualXposed.
https://uptodown-android.en.uptodown.com/android
APKPure has all the apps available on Google Play except paid apps.

You can only have one Microg installed.
Try the one from VirtualXposed.
Not sure if Vanced Youtube can work.
For Youtube try Skytube, Newpipe or SmartYoutubeTV instead.

Try this method
Install and Login with vanced as per Video then Install MicroG
Get Notification. apps that use GPS don't work.
With Googlfier you don't get Notification and with this method You get Notification and Not much else.
Looks like there is no 100% solution until one can unlock bootloader.
