Is there any setting option for speech to text? - Huawei Mate 9 Questions & Answers

As we know, Android comes with an in-built feature, speech to text.
But I failed to find the setting options for speech to text on our Huawei Mate 9.
For example, does my mobile use online speech recognition service offered by Google or the service by Huawei?
Does my mobile support offline speech recognition? How many languages have been supported?...
Thanks in advance.

Go into settings and type in the search bar at the top text to speech. And select the white hand.
Then half way down select text to speech output, and you should see options...

strange behavior when typing a contact name...

hi, I was looking for answer on forum but i dont even know what to looking for so I post new thread...
I have in my TP EnergyROM with Coockie and Sense 2.5 from march 8 and I reinstalled EzInput 1.5 keyboards with polish lang pack cab...
my problem is that when i go into people->all people/add favourite->search field and start typing I'm kind of lost focus on first character - it marks itself and in a moment it unmark, then when i press another letter key it type automaticaly 2 characters at once and then unmark again - on text field is now 3 chars but i only tap on 2 keys?!?!?!?
example, to imagine what am I talking about:
1. in text field press "k"
k
2. then i press "o"
kkm
I use "phone kyboard" (and i really want to use this keyboard and not qwerty) with t9,
but when I disable t9 it does another stupid trick - I tap twice to get "k" [jkl] and he gives me jk in text field ?? :/
I also disable all t9/word completion/substitution in Input Options and in "Phone Keyboard" Options - reboot and still same behavior
when I am writing sms message or in the notepad there is no such behavior
and there is no such behavior when making appointments or typing in Internet serach text field....
I have also installed FingerKeyboard2 if this is important....
btw. sorry for my bad english...

[Q] Add to dictionary (like in SMS App) everywhere

I use the HTC keyboard and when writing an SMS, unknown words are underlined and I can add them to the dictionary by clicking on these words and selecting "add to dictionary" in the popup menu.
Is there some modification to get this feature in all input fields? Or is this a special feature of the SMS App and does not have to do anything with the keyboard?
there is an xposed module i think should help you out..http://forum.xda-developers.com/xposed/modules/app-correct-t2745579 dunno how effective it is though as i haven't tried it
actually, I knew this module already and tried it because I was hoping it offers the function I'm looking for... But it ONLY enables auto correction not the ability to add new words to the dictionary directly from every edit text...

Number pad on Google keyboard

Is there a shortcut to opening the full size number pad using Google keyboard? I can only open the regular numbers along the top row. I'm trying to find the big keypad that opens, for instance, when one clicks on the field to enter a two-step authentication code.
Thanks.

It depends on the text field, not the keyboard. If the text field specifies that it's for numbers only, then it'll bring up the keypad. If it doesn't, then it brings up the regular keyboard.

Right, but once in a text field, I can hit the number key and bring up the numbers. I just want to be able to open the full number pad when I want. For instance, Swype allows one to swipe from the Swype logo to the number 5 to open it up. Surely since it exists, there is a way to open it when needed.

Such feature on Swype would be an extra feature. If it was a number field, it would force number pad too. Only difference is that you can switch to it even while in a text field. Google Keyboard does not provide such functionality.

Turn off spell check?

In many apps, when you type into an input box android will underscore mistyped words with a line. The problem is when typing in a different language, Spanish for example, it will underline every single word even if spelled correctly and it's kind of annoying. I know the language can be changed but it's really not feasible to go an change the system language every time I type something.
This feature is essentially not needed since every keyboard app, including LG's own has built-in spell-check and spelling suggestions. The G3 and G4 had an option to turn off native spell check but I can't seem to find it on the V10. I wonder which genius at LG decided to remove this option.

Thanks, but the keyboard feature is actually the feature I do want. I was referring to the actual input box, in certain apps the system underlines words that it thinks are spelled incorrectly, akin to how desktop computer underlines typos.
See attached photo.

Go Language & keyboard -> LG Keyboard -> Auto Correction -.> off (if you have multiple languages setting for your keyboard, there would be choice for each language)

Gboard: How can I enter my favorite unicode characters?

Bonjour,
there are a few characters I'm using all the time on macOS.
I really miss them when I am on Android with the gboard keyboard.
Is there a way I can tell gboard that those are my favorite unicode characters and I want to be able to enter them easily?
As far as I think, Google is allowed to create a personal directory for adding custom Unicode.
You should go into the settings of Gboard and search for this option and then you'll get an option to add a Unicode character.
That would be great, but I went into the settings before posting and now again and I didn't see it.
Any hint?
