Bluetooth Music Choppy - HTC U12+ Questions & Answers

Hey, got my U12 and within 12 hours looks like I might be returning it. Fantastic device Im very annoyed. Music through bluetooth to my car sounds a skipping cd. Anybody experiencing similar or any idea what to do? Changing parameters in the developer options doesn't seem to work.

No problems here with Bluetooth and Ford Sync 1.1 with latest software 5.11.

I saw in another thread that suggested going into developer options and switching Bluetooth AVRCP to v1.4 instead of 1.5. Did you try that one too?

Ya tried that, it's less severe but still happening. Iv isolated it to vw head units i think.

I was having a similar issue with my Bluetooth headphones. It kept cutting in and out while my headphones worked fine with my iPhone.
I'll be using my headphones again this evening so lets see if it happens again and if I can get more details.

I've had no problem with it in a Toyota Yaris. Also no problems with BT headphones - it's even a bit better than the U11 BT, which used to skip now & again. Had to set BT to 1.4 for full control in the car.

Maybe VW has been updating their software and you could drive by a dealership to update or do it yourself. Since Oreo came out I also had problems with BT. No media info was shown. The problem seems to be Oreo 8.0. In 8.1 Google solved some of these problems.
Since Ford brought out an update everything works fine now. Hopefully Android P has covered all these bugs.

Brand new car though. I might make a phone call about it all the same.

Found some solutions on Google that you could try out:
Settings>Apps>Application list>... >show system apps>Bluetooth>force stop, then clear data.
If this doesn't work, remove the pairing, repeat above and redo the pairing.
Or
Reset Network settings fixes the Bluetooth problem after Oreo Update. Settings > Backup & Reset > Network Settings Reset and everything works like charm.
Or
Change of Bluetooth Audio Codec (Settings -> Advanced -> Bluetooth Audio Codec) from SBC to aptX seemingly fixed it.
Hope one of them helps. Good luck!

I have also experienced this with my VW. I listen to audio books mostly and every so often a word drops out and it gets annoying.

Iv just had to switch to using the aux. Awful annoying, brand new phone and brand new car and ****ing bluetooth doesn't work properly.
I still connect to the bluetooth for calls only which has created a side problem too where if I get a call its not sending the sound through the bluetooth by default i need to manually select it.

Re: Bluetooth music choppy
Thank you phxzy , all!! Having the same annoying issues with my HTC U12 Plus Bluetooth in my car. Maps misses a lot of verbal directions and music is horrible.
Thanks for the many suggestions!! I'll try them this weekend!!

I just have some cheap BT device I found at a local discount store but I only occasionally have the choppiness. When it happens it's like the audio continues and I miss a few seconds of the audio. My main issue is more that it stops the playback altogether. It doesn't seem to disconnect just the playback stops/pauses and has to be restarted. This whole time I've been under the impression that it's the player/app but I'll try some of the advice given here and see if I can get it to improve. Thanks

Jawbone icon disconnects when call waiting activates

I've just got a jawbone icon, and twice already I've been on the phone, and someone else calls (call waiting), immediately the headset disconnects and eventually reconnects. Not sure if this problem lies with htc or jawbone.. does anyone have a jawbone or infact any bt headset to see if this can be reproduced?

I'm quite worried to hear this. I've ordered a plantronics bluetooth headset which should be arriving on monday. I'll definitely update you once I've had a play.
Sort of ironic that the only reason I wanted to get the headset was because the loudspeaker is so bad... And now we see that BT doesn't work too well either.

Im using a Sony ericsson MW600, works flawlessy with my earlier phone but its behaving really weird on my Desire HD.
Listening to media in all it forms often works without hassle, but as soon as the phone function is being called - it randomly disconnects, reconnect, and by then the phone has already switched the sound back to the phone.
Also seeing alot of problems with switching the sound between different modes during a call, the option is there, but nothing happens.
And sometimes I cant even call people trough my BT headset, I connect it, doesnt use it for anything else before - and call someone, and still it doesnt get the sound right
So, some problems alright - longing for customs ROMs

Feel free to correct me, but I think this problem belongs to the Jawbone.. it just happened on my other phone aswell (not android) so hopefully it's not a desire hd thing also..
I Will bump this One.
I have a mw600 and am experiencing some annoying problems.
First of all I cannot use it for calls at all. Cant even record anything from the headsets mic.
Second i have noticed that the sound quality is bad compared to when i connect the device to an itouch.
I really hope this is a software issue so I dont have to send the phone in for reparations.
Anyone else noticed the same issues with sound quality?
Were u able to fix it?
Sent from my Desire HD using Tapatalk
Using MW600 myself - works fine (for calls and music)
did not try recording - don't think it's supposed to work.
- remember that you need to pick up the phone using the answer button on MW600 if somebody calls you, or else it defaults to internal speaker, (and you can choose MW600) then. (move sound).
The only problem I've seen is, that sometimes MW600 cannot be used for calls anymore, it helps then to restart the hansfree, and it works again. - this did not happen on HD2.
Same Problem

Bluetooth Audio Issues

So I have used both the international version and the T-Mobile One S and have a serious problem when I try to play audio of the Bluetooth connection in my car. From Spotify or the standard music app the audio will keep skipping when using the Bluetooth connection in my car.
I am wondering if anyone else is having an issue playing audio over Bluetooth. I have never had this problem with any of my other phones. My Galaxy Nexus has worked flawlessly. Thus, wondering if this is a bug or a permanent issue.
Your help, thoughts or experience is appreciated.

Not that this makes you feel better, I have the same exact issue. My GSII did not do this so I know its not my car. Kind of stinks because I like to stream tune in radio via bluetooth in the car.
im not having any issues with my A2DP headphones.
Audio and phone calls work fine over my LG HBS 700 with US T-Moblile device.

I believe the One S uses BT v4.0, so this may be an issue. If I were you, I'd try to get tech support on the line and see if you can get high-level support from a knowledgeable tech on it. If you can't, I dont blame your for taking it back or selling. That's one of those deals where you're left wondering if they'll fix w/software, or if you'll be up **** creek without a paddle. Luckily I dont use BT very much, and never do for music.
Well I got my One S surprisingly fast....in 2 days ! (was expecting 5-7 days)
Just tested BT in car with Sony head unit (its the newer version only like 6-12 month old) and it seems to work for the most part.
Phone and Media profiles connected, and they reconnect just fine, media from Youtube and HTC Videos streamed just perfect and audio quality is 110% (maybe due to apt-X codec found in BT 4.0). Now at one point I noticed that it lost connection and I needed to reboot the phone in order to connect again, but I have no idea what happened there. I tried to reproduce this again without any luck, the phone stayed connected to Sony unit for about 15-20 minutes without loosing the connection and playing media from different sources
---------- Post added at 06:26 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:13 PM ----------
Also streamed GPS instructions and worked fine.....will test out more on my way to Tmobile to get SIM card
No probs with bluetooth to my Sony head unit either. Streaming from such as Tune in Radio or other sources that use mobile data can be hit and miss though with connection dropouts. That in itself is another issue but at least BT works fine.

[Q] Bluetooth Issues?

Has anybody else been having bluetooth issues?
For some weird reason, I can't make calls go through my car's bluetooth.
AD2P(music streaming) works just fine, but calls it won't even ring through my car speakers.
This wasn't the case with my Blackberry, Sensation or Vibrant, so I know the car isn't at fault here
I can make calls but it drops them after about 20 seconds, i cant seem t remedy it either.

Mine works fine with my bluetooth handsfree from Nokia in my car, but unfortunately the one on the other end of the call hears his/her own voice (like an echo).
I have never had any issues with that handsfree with the phones I've used before (HTC One X, Galaxy SII, iPhone 4 and iPhone 3GS)!
N I'm guessing you guys are running stock?
Nope, actually running TrickDroid 5.0, but I also had the issue on stock ROM...
hmm.. interesting. I have been having issues, but not the same ones. and its not all the time. but i can usually make a call ok with my BT headset, but when streaming music (any app) with a2dp, i get cuts and stops almost all the time. i am rooted, and have tried it on several roms. i cannot recreate the probelm everytime, but it doesnt seem to be signal related as it has happened on wifi as well. strange
it's htc rom issue. every htc rom i have tried have this problem including syncing my address book with my car. aokp and cm9 builds don't have this issue for some reason
I can't get my phone to sync with the car - they just don't find each other.

Hello!
Please help me if you can!
I have problems with connection of bluetooth headset! I have an other HTC Phone (Desire Z - 2.3.6.) and using multipoint headset (Jawbone ERA and Motorola HX1).
My problem that randomly (without any reason) disconnect from my One S the bluetooth headset (de Desire Z still connected without any problem). If i turn off and on the BT on the phone is not reconnect, if i try manually (from the menu) reconnect, can't connect.
Here coming some weired thing too...if this happen my Motorola turn off and on, and reconnect without any problem. But if i try to this with the Jawbone nothing happening, the only way to reconnect if i wait half an hour or reboot my phone or if i re-pair.
I pretty sure that this problem is cause the phone, but i dont know why.
I have JB 3.16.111.10 fw T-mobile (DE) CID: TMOB101.
Have anybody idea how to solve this?
Thanks!
Regards

[Q] Bluetooth Question

Ok, so I have an issue with my One X that I didn't have on my Galaxy Nexus. I was able to leave my bluetooth on (on the Gnex) all the time. When I got in the car, after a few seconds or so, it would connect. I never had to think about it. This was on AOSP, CM, or AOKP. No matter the build, it always worked this way.
With my One X, it never connects automatically. I feel like there's a setting I'm not seeing that I need to enable to allow it to act this way. If bluetooth is on, I have to manually tell it to connect to the stereo. Sometimes I have to shut off the bluetooth radio, turn it back one, etc etc.
This is on Sense Builds, AOKP, or CM.
Anyone have any insight? I feel like this shouldn't even be a thought. I should be able to just leave it on and never think about it.
Wrong section. Q's belong in Q&A. Let the mods know so they can move this thread.
Its not you, its the phone, or specifically the Bluetooth stack. Certain combinations of phones and Bluetooth devices (like your car stereo head unit) just don't play well together. Its the same on my car, which is a 2012 Subaru Impreza with factory head unit (which I understand is made by Kenwood). It work fine (mostly, sometimes the steering wheel controls to skip tracks won't work) once its connected. But it won't auto-connect and has to be connected manually every time I start the car. For other people's car stereos, it may work just fine.
There is nothing in Settings that will fix this. Further, I've messed with some of the system files to see if that would help (which some have pointed out has worked on other devices), but no good. I've also hoped that HTC would have fixed the problem with one of the firmware updates (as they sometimes update the BT stack when they update the firmware). But I've tried various builds, including the recent Sense JB firmware's, and the same problem persists.
I've reported the issue to HTC back when the phone was originally released in May. HTC support walked me though the usual steps of factory reset, update firmware, safe mode. But of course, none of this worked, and they logged the issue for further investigation. Aside from a change in the BT stack by HTC, I don't think there is much that can be done.
There are various apps and toggles and such that may make your life a bit easier (and others will likely suggest). And I'm using one now called Speed Enabled Bluetooth. But really, they are just half-a$$ed workarounds at best, and not a true fix. I wished the thing would just work like its supposed to.
My phone just auto connects to my car Bluetooth just fine. I'm on stock at&t 2.20

As I already said, its dependent on the car stereo. Some will work, some won't. What make/model car, and is it the factory stereo or not?
My car is also a 2012 Subaru. its a wrx impreza, so we're in the same boat. guess its time to start looking into an aftermarket headunit.

deleted a paired bluetooth device, no pairing again possible

Hey guys,
I have a bluetooth headphone (Wearhaus Arc), which I had to sent in for repair recently. Since I have them I faced with connection issue, but sometimes it worked at the first go. Also because I wasn't able to update to firmware, the support told me to return it. Before doing so I unpaired the headphone from my phone (HTC One M8 running latest official stock unbranded Android 6.0).
Since I got headphone back, my phone isn't able to "see" the headphone. Bluetooth is on and the headphone as well, but for my phone it's like the headphone isn't there/switched on. I did some pairing testing with other phones (HTC Sensation, BlackBerry Q10, HTC HD2), which found the headphone immediately and worked fine. So my guess is, that only my M8 has a problem with it. Pairing, unpairing and "repairing" (pairing again) between my M8 and the other mentioned phones worked well, so there can't be an general bluetooth issue.
After doing a factory reset on my M8 I'm a step futher, because now the phone sees the headphone (somethimes), but it isn't able to establish a connection. In case my M8 sees it, I tap on the available devices, the phone tries to connect, but a second later I get the message: "unable to pair. Make sure your devices are on and discoverable, and then try pairing again". Rebooting the phone does not work. I also cleared the data and cache of the bluetooth share app and performed a network reset like described here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-one-m8/help/htc-one-m8-bluetooth-wont-android-6-0-t3340279
My question to you guys is, what can I do, to get the headphones to work?
Is it possible, that the phone has is still a piece of information left about the former connection, which refuses any new connection?
Is there a file on the phone, which stores the bluetooth connections? if yes, maybe deleting or editing the file could help?
Thank you in advance!

Are you sure that the Bluetooth antenna of your phone is working correctly? It sounds like its an issue of the phone.

Maybe, but as I have written, my M8 can be paired in both directions with the other mentioned phones flawlessly. That's why it actually can't be a general issue, right?
Is there a possibility to test the Bluetooth antenna?
