i followed https://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-6x/how-to/guide-update-to-emui-8-t3807806
everything went smooth until i get to the part where you need to put the OEM unlock code (my phone was previously unlock prior)
so i shrug it off and tried to continue upgrading without unlocking the bootloader.
Problem:
Lost copy of bootloader unlocked code
bootloader got locked
stuck in erecovery (missing stock recovery)
can only boot to bootloader but locked
thanks in advance.
im not really familiar with huawei since i was a samsung user eversince.
hope someone can help me.

if you have an unlock bootloader, you can try to fastboot and install twrp.
i think the main problem using the DLOAD method is because the model got rebranded. if we could rebrand it back to the original model, then it may work. but i dont know how to do that.
hopefully @shashank1320 can help us

There is a slight chance that we might be able to help , but if we failed you will need some paid tools to fix this unfortunately , if you want to do it your self i can help you .
get these information through fastboot :
Code:
fastboot oem get-build-number
Code:
fastboot getvar vendorcountry
and post them here
Next time don't skip steps. They are there for a reason.
Install firmware bln-alx i think you have rebrand to this region, if not work i have a solution but you will lose your seriel number .. it work 100% but it's not recommanded

Is anyone working on a method for rooting that does not require an unlocked bootloader?
Nope no chance without unlocked bootloader
Gesendet von meinem EndeavorU mit Tapatalk 4
Okay and how some androidphone have been rooted without an unlocked bootloader ? Defy for example.
I don't own the Moto G, but it is possible to root with a locked bootloader. You gonna need to set up adb and fastboot on your pc using Android SDK. You will also need twrp. There are some guides on how to set up and use adb and fastboot.
Twrp can give you root permission if you don't have it. Hope this helps a bit.
Sent from my Huawei Ascend P1 U9200 using xda app-developers app.
How about:
"Fastboot boot recovery.img" CWM, then you can flash the superuser zip without unlocking the bootloader or flashing a different recovery.
Lost, you have to set up adb and fastboot before you can flash a recovery.
Sent from my U9200 using xda app-developers app
I didn't mean to imply setting up adb was not required. And just to clarify, I was suggesting booting a recovery, not flashing it permanently.

Boot a custom recovery with locked bl is not and will not possible on moto g. No matter if it's possible on other phones, we are talking about g.
If you want root without unlock bl you have only a way: to wait some exploit. For now there aren't, in future who know..

Yeah well, Hope some one will find a way a soon because not many people afford to lose warranty on rooting as unrooting will not save warranty..
Yep. Root is a risk for warranty.
For example, my two friends here in Italy, for different problems have send their g with unlocked bl in repair. Both are back repaired without any problems. So i mean that there are cases and cases. Btw root remains a risk for many.

adb version
What is the output?

fastboot devices
What is the output?
Code:
fastboot oem unlock

Might be a small thing and might not help... but can you run "fastboot reboot" after the oem unlock, let it boot into Android, then reboot into fastboot mode and try to flash recovery?
Remember that when you oem unlock you wipe the device.

If it's auto rebooting into recovery after the unlock, something is definitely wrong. Sorry, not really sure. It should reboot into whatever Android build you've got installed. In TWRP did you try re-flashing whatever build your device came with... try to start fresh? I know you can download the CM 11S builds right from CM, not sure about ColorOS.

Yes you can via same command but just use relock instead of lock OEM but it will erase data. Dload will not relock but it will lock so not a problem and not data erase also.

To extract it, with the help of a root explorer, (like MiXplorer, Total Command, ecc.) go to root/dev/block/platform/hi_mci.0/by-name, and in this folder you'll find "oeminfo" file. Copy it elsewhere, it'll be around 66MB; zip it, and it'll become only 160KB

Ok thanks for letting me know... I thought Multitool needed root to extract OEMINFO from device... This was a huge problem for me coz my friend is far away from me and he's too noob that he can't even get Product ID by dialing the code...(for BL unlock code)
I would already have done it yesterday if I knew that Multitool didn't need root...

In this guide:

made me think root was necessary.

Hello,
My honor 8 is hard bricked, I wished to install custom Rom and it was encrypted so I decided to return to EMUI, I installed stock recovery I installed rollback package to emui 4.1 and emui 4.1 now i'm stuck on boot screen.
I can't go to Recovery settings or dload method, I can just go on fastboot and do nothing.
I can go to fastboot mode but I have this message when I try to flash anything... "FAILED (remote: Command not allowed)" FRP is locked
Will Phoenix DC will work for me ? To unlock FRP and flash manually ?
Please help me
You can try to boot a recovery like TWRP in fastboot mode
Type in:
Code:
fastboot boot "recovery.img"
You also can try to format the system partitions. It will maybe unlock FRP, but i don't think that it will work.
Commands:
Code:
fastboot erase system
fastboot erase boot
fastboot erase data
fastboot erase cache
Which model of the Honor 8 you have?
DC Unlocker is a nice idea. When nothing works, you have to use it.

You also can try to format the system partitions. It will maybe unlock FRP, but i don't think that it will work.
Commands:
Code:
fastboot erase system
fastboot erase boot
fastboot erase data
fastboot erase cache
Which model of the Honor 8 you have?
DC Unlocker is a nice idea. When nothing works, you have to use it.

Yeah I will try DC Phoenix after all. Does anyone have a DC Phoenix free account or something like that?
My phone was pretty screwed and I was able to fix it with DC Phoenix. It should be able to unlock your bootloader and FRP. This is the link to my experience, maybe it will help.

Hello,
When you want to flash your ROM, you go to fastboot mode and on Phoenix DC you should select APP file to flash. Which APP file should I flash, Nougat to Marshmallow package on hihonor website or for example B394 update?
Thanks

I ended up using the rollback to marshmallow package. Once I rebooted, the phone started updating. It took me like 3 or 4 updates to get to the latest version. The important thing is that you get the correct rom for your phone. Make sure everything matches up to the B--. For me it was (FRD-L04C567), If you flash the wrong rom your phone will be stuck on the version you flashed (phone won't update). I hope this helps and I wish you success.

Great!! I was looking for a new phone. Then I decided I would give DC Phoenix a try. Now my bootloader was unlocked and I think I might have gotten away with flashing every partition on my phone, but this way was so much easier and was worth the cost.

If the OTA fails, you can find out which partitions it doesn't like from the logcat. If you have a fastboot image, you can reflash the affected partitions. I have had to restore both system.img and vendor.img since 10.0.10.0 (the fact that I've been using a custom bootanim definitely does not help).
Code:
adb logcat | grep update_engine

I'm used to flashing from fastboot but I'm pretty sure that only works with an unlocked bootloader. I've read that you can use miflash with a locked bootloader but you need a complete rom and the most recent one is 10.0.13.0
Sorry

One More Question.
Is There A Way To Get Every Month OTA Installed Without Interrupting (Unlock Bootloader , Rooted With Magisk) ? If Yes , So What Could Be The Steps/Guide.
Thanks.

If you just have Magisk, this is all you should need to do.

If you have other stuff that breaks that process (eg. Magisk + TWRP) then you need extra steps.

Previously you said you did not have an unlocked bootloader, but you asked for OTA instructions with Magisk...
Since you don't have backups of the modified partitions, you should backup your data then install 10.0.13.0 from fastboot image. This is the only option if your bootloader is locked (I think that miflash allows this?)
If you are modifying your device I'd suggest backing up the partitions that were rejected by the upgrade (logcat). See the advanced guide I posted for details.
If you have backups you just need to restore the partitions the upgrade is complaining about (logcat).
