After Echoe stating they would not support S9's, one of the developers bought one - and an Echoe deodexed TW has appeared. Following that, Ael custom kernels also did. The first odexed ROM came out July 3, and now is in deodexed 3rd version, as is the kernel.
Over here, we have some good stock only based TW (aka Samsung Experience) ROMs, but the only one (RENOVATE ICE) is not currently supported. But this one is being aggressively developed, with more modifications to come. It is currently based on BRF8.
It instructs doing a pretty complete wipe, but as I was on an XDA BRF8, I only wiped system and caches and then flashed it - came right up. So far, I have not had any occasional reboots (which I had on the other ROMs I had tried and were using).
So if you want to try something different - go to their website and check it out. You have to be a member to access it, but for $10 - its worth it.
For Echoe haters - forgetaboutit.

It is a custom rom based on latest Samsung update, but it is deodexed, so allows it to have many mods.
If you are just starting, I would recommend starting here for awhile. After trying a few ROMs here, then take a look at Echoe.

Hey,
thanks for your advice!
im actually quite familiar with the custom roms world (owned OP3 before) so i just wanned to know if it worth the hassle of unlocking the BL and rooting.
Now there is a N9 port coming along right here - It is already deodexed (but not available yet - being tested) May give v2 a try - read the thread.

AOSP roms if they are the latest build include the newest fixes and updates straight from Google. Also true AOSP roms do not include gapps. Gapps are not open source like Android. That's why they are flashed separately

This is a pure AOSP Rom, and I'm gonna keep it as such unfortunately. However if you wanna rip this Rom apart and edit the nav bar to whatever specs you desire go right ahead, that's why I uploaded this so we can have a stock base Rom to do with as we please.

Well, I didn't try to download the rom, since I can build this just fine at home (and do).
But I did try and grab your gapps, since I was having a hard time finding a gapps package that mirrored my original factory gapps.
But I figured I would let you know your dropbox has been suspended for large activity. Maybe you know, but since it isn't in the OP...
Edit: And if you are selecting option 4 in lunch (userdebug) then root access is included. Are you building 'user'?
Edit2: Looked at the fixed link. eng has root too. So they're gonna be rooted, whether the flash the su or not. Although most builds just go for the userdebug. eng just adds more logging services, FAIK.
I have been running Paranoid Android 5.0.2 and keep having battery life issues. I have trimmed my apps down and even re-enabled the SystemUpdateService for the Google Play Framework which doesn't help. The service also keeps automatically being disabled. Another issue I have is lack of xPrivacy on this version in addition to various OS 'quirks'.
What is the recommended 5.1 ROM for this device that does work with the newer versions of xPosed/xPrivacy?

AFAIK all ROMs work with Xposed except TeamEOS (bootloop) and Temasek (you need a modified version of Xposed). Xprivacy works well now on 5.1.

Besides Echoe ROM, what other ROMs have you been able to flash to the Galaxy S7?
I'm asking because I've had at least 2 ROMS flashed via FlashFire that simply have not worked, or have been unable to install after following OP's instructions.
Echoe ROM is nice, but would like to try something else - your feedback is appreciated!

Well, CyanogenMod was a custom OS\ROM\Whatever you'd like to call it, but it wasn't something that most phones shipped with. And it turned out to be the most preferred Custom Android ROM, with custom ROMS being based on CM.
I would close my eyes and buy a device if I knew it had official support for CM (LineageOS). I bet most people would.
Apart from issues with their management and rebranding to LineageOS, I don't see what's bad or "worse" with it. Just saying that "Worse" is a strong way to put it.
I do agree that some custom ROMS, no matter how stable have a few bugs\drawbacks occasionally, but so does the stock ROMS.
It is custom ROMS that use a lot of MODS which are generally more prone to stability issues. By mods, I'm referring to certain features like Bravia Engine\ Dolby Atmos ported from another device.
I cant comment on the EPIC ROM as I haven't tried it. But from what other users are saying here, it seems to be a pretty decent and stable ROM, despite having a few extra MODS.

Hello there.
I would like to add, that, looking at the shifting tides regarding sympathies for Google, our ROM, ViperU11 might not be what the original poster asked for. We do NOT de-Google. We only offer a de-Sense option.
Regarding HTC's Camera, ironically, the Google Camera works really really well on the U11 by now. It is a bit hard to get it working correctly, as there are like one million ports and 10 million posts in a thousand places (what a mess, yuck!) but going to the place where the Arnova-Mods are hosted and then also downloading a set of config XML's (for the Oreo variant) or for LOS, the newest Mod without Configs, offers a pretty damn decent camera on the U11.
However, I believe that whoever is asking for a LineAge port might also be after de-Googling her/his phone. That said, ViperU is NOT an option.
