Long Exposure camera "bug"? - OnePlus 6 Questions & Answers

Has anyone experienced a "bug" that makes photos taken with long exposures appear like phone was moving while taking it?
In given example, phone was mounted on improvised stand (100% sturdy). 100 ISO 30s exposure time + 3s timer. Look at the light trails.

Do it again and use timer of 3 sec to shoot. When you push the button you have a little motion an you see the trailer of lights.

This is already shot with 3s timer, I forgot to mention.

Noticed this bug too. Clearing camera data produced drastically better results but after couple of shots, same story.

Can we hope this is a software issue?

Initially I was worried if I've a bad device but clearing the camera data sorts the issue out (at least for couple of shots). So there must be something going on at software side. Guess we need to get in touch with bug hunters. Looking forward to next update and see if it fixes the issue.

I can relate, I'm also affraid that device is faulty (it took me so much time and money to get one, since they don't ship to Montenegro). Guess I'll have to wait for nightfall to test if it helps.
If all goes well *fingers crossed* I'll file a bug report on official forums.
Can you give me some info on who are "bug hunters"?

I've only seen mentions in the oneplus forums. Think that's the development team which gets in touch once you submit bugs through official channel. I'm running DP2 right now, else I could have tested it right now ( Night over here)

Well well... I'll search the forums.
One more thing: does this bug occur in DP2? I'm not sure if DP2 has long exposure mode working...

I have the same issue and this might be related to drift in OIS control. The issue is very apparent when you take a 30 second exposure of the night sky with stars.

Nexus 5 not focusing

I'm aware the stock camera app leaves a lot to be desired, but my Nexus 5 seems to be stuck at a specific focal length. I cannot focus on items if they aren't 15 feet away or so. The tap to focus gives me the focus animation and even turns green, but the object still isn't in focus. Checked all the settings already. Anyone else having this issue?

The lens could be misaligned.
u probably have a fault phone..happened to me when i had my htc one..sometimes it wants to focus or would not at all
Tried using a different camera app and doing a factory reset. No luck.
Didn't think I would have to RMA my Nexus as I didn't have any of the problems people are reporting (I must be the only one on the forum with the stuck lens).
Hope the next one is as good as it gets.

I know it's silly but have you tried cleaning the lens? maybe it got dirty, it's easy to place your fingers where the lens is...
Yup, lens is perfectly clear. I got my replacement ordered, but it says 2-3 weeks till it leaves the warehouse. i thought people were saying that they are shipping out warranty replacements right away...

I'll have to RMA mine as well, for the same reason. I haven't found any other problems so I'm a bit worried I'll get another with a defect.
Too bad it is that. I might have lived with some other build problem.

I was taking some photos last night, and had quite a bit of difficulty trying to focus the image especially with the flash. Other people were taking photos to and the edge took very poor images when both flashes were active. I have upgraded from a galaxy S4 and noticed that it takes some time to process and focus the image is there can be many moving focal points.
Yeah its a hit or miss on the focus. At least in my phone. I could only get it to focus twice out of many tries. Those two focuses took pretty pictures thou. But that's unacceptable. The reason I'm asking is because it could be this phone. I hope we get more responses of people experience with the camera.

I have no problem with mines. It works great and i even focus on my jeans and could see all the stitching.
Try to clear the camera data.
drag the camera icon to app info. Then clear data and clear cache.
I had to do this on another phone long time ago.
Thank you xile6, I've already clear data and cache several times. Yes if I but my finger close to lens I can make up my finger print, looks nice but when I try to focus on a object about 5 feet away, it doesn't focus.

That is very weird. Mines is fine i can focus just fine on everything.
You do have it on auto mode? see if changing it to a different mode helps out.
I wish you the best and hope its not a hardware problem

Thank you all, I think it's a hardware problem. I've checked all the modes and it's the same thing. I've performed a factory reset and it's the same. Going to have to pay a visit to the store tomorrow.

Confirmed, defective phone. They replaced the phone with another new one and this one know focus and takes very nice pictures. The lady didn't even hesitate to swap it. Maybe they had another return with the same issue. Thank you all for the feedback.

Thats good you got it return. Glad they had more in stock for the return.
I sure hope its not alot of them that have this problem. I remember the HTC One M7 had purple tint in low light. It would happen months after having the phone.
I hink this is a samsung issue. My gear 2 got stuck in micro mode and had to be replaced too.
I can defently tell you that I bought a defective phone. They replaced it and the camera came from bad to super nice .

Glad I'm not alone with focusing problems...
Here is my topic : Note 4 camera won't lock focus + blurry edges on pictures with far focus
Best regards,
Chris.
Sounds like a Samsung problem. My wife is on her second Note Edge with a focus problem. It focuses when you shake the camera. AT&T had told me twice that it's a software problem. Apparently they think we are idiots.
They won't warranty the second phone even though it's only 7 days old because the we bought her first phone 31 days ago.... 1 day past the 30 day warranty. I hate the crooks at AT&T.
Mine has this problem intermittently. When i close out and go back in it seams to focus
Sent form my Samsung Galaxy® Note Edge
I think the selected SD card may cause the focus delaying. i selected device option and the focus instantly enabled. anyone can experiment the location selection whoever has microsd inserted?
I don't have an SD card in mine so it goes straight to the internal storage

The first thing I noticed after the update was improved fingerprint recognition. I've never had issues with my thumbs not reading, but it seemed my index fingers had to be perfectly aligned in order to unlock my phone. Now they work at off angles and much quicker.
I also promptly froze the Gear VR apps since I don't want to risk battery hits from something I won't use.
Anyone use stock messaging? I'm curious if the awful delay when trying to send a message is gone.
Just a question. With the app optimization do we still need greenery? Just wondering.

Weird thing I noticed was when when I factory reset after I took the update factory recovery was saying something about dfverify tree or something like that.
Interesting; I just had my Note5 unlocked and with my AT&T SIM in, I was able to download and install the update OTA.
Happy to see all known Stagefright vulnerabilities are now addressed.

SIM cards are used to determine OTAs for Nexus devices. But you are correct that they typically don't matter for other OEMs because each carrier gets a different model number assigned to their hardware variant.

Greenify? I'm wondering the same.
Wireless charging is being a lot more picky about where I place my phone on the pad after the update. I have to set it down a bit higher on the phone rather than centered like usual.

Samsung wireless charger is supper picky, third party ones, not so much
I'm already noticing improved battery life.
Unplugged for 3.5 hours, and in the marginal LTE/H area that I am for work, I would be down 20% or more with light usage. As of now, I'm at 89%.
Is anyone else experiencing issues with Text Messages? I'm using the stock messaging app (after I started having issues with EvolveSMS). I'll get the same text messages from someone 5 to 7 times, kind of getting annoying when my S2 vibrates and get's blown up with notifications.

And finally, are we Europeans getting the EXYNOS?

I think this is Exynos but I cannot be certain. Any application I use to check the specs comes back as "Processor Unknown"
In regards to the pictures, all I can say is the first few were taken in extremely dark environments and whilst I was pleased with the results when viewing on screen, when enlarged they are not fantastic.
HOWEVER I don't think I have ever used a camera on a smartphone as good as this in low light. In normal lighting conditions, the 6S Plus (my daily driver) seems better but this is without extensive testing, the S7 really shines in low light situations.
It's as great camera and I doubt anybody will have any issues with its performance.
In regards to the S7 itself, there is the occasional lag on the operating system however all in all it builds on last year and it's much smoother.
I've owned every Galaxy S device, and by far this is the best generation but anybody coming from an S6 will struggle to be excited. It's certainly not as fluid as a 6P, which I have owned too.

I would think because that is how most people actually take pictures when it is dark... So it is a real world test, not some theoretical/lab nonsense.

Really for a low light test you really shouldn't be using the flash lol.
Maybe so, but pretty much everyone I know leaves the settings all on auto, which usually uses the flash when it's dark.

It's the freaking wireless carriers who are in collusion with our regulatory bodies. They are untouchable and provide only the bare minimum required service while charging maximum dollar for it.
