Anyone having issues with the hotspot feature where it will turn on but when any devices connect to it will not have access to Internet. I've tried setting it both wide open and passwords and nothing. I've even tried different sims (TMobile and ATT) all apn setting seem to be correct as well. I was wondering if anyone else is having this issue?
Update: Thanks to Saloei for the find!
1. Settings\Mobile Network\Carrier\Automatic Registration to disabled - reboot (takes a minute to find carriers)
2. Settings\Mobile Network\Access Point Name (APN)

T-Mobile. I used mobile hotspot many times in the past with my previous phone. I think I'll call them up just to be sure tethering is still active on my account.
Check the apn settings.
Sometimes automatic apn setups add a proxy ip, and that could cause an issue.

Ok guys, my entire page response to this problem was just deleted so I'm re-posting. I was able to get Hot-Spot working with the help of my T-Mobile Tech. I wasn't able to create and then select a new APN so I disabled Settings\Mobile Network\Carrier\Automatic Registration to disabled - reboot. It took a while to disable but it happened! I was able to create and select a new APN with the following settings according to the T-Mobile tech. I'm located in the eastern USA

Wow! Just spent half hour on the phone. The tech from Philippines raved about this phone but couldn't get hotspot to work. He made me create the new APN but did not make me perform the first step (disabling auto registration of the networ). Also, He asked me to choose IPv6 and not either. Worked a charm, thank you so much!

just a FYI - the mms issue isn't a CM7 specific issue, it's affected every AOSP build we have out (including all the original ones that were developed by the fascinate guys)
Please do let us know how you fair, we've all started by loading the correct APN but there is far more to it than that - I'll point you here for reference on what could be the cause -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=12806384&postcount=773
Once we loaded the correct server info into the APN, it was trying to connect to the server but giving an error about WAP not being enabled - that's as far as we got with it.
And by the way, for future reference - only development topics should be posted here - this should have gone in general.

MMS doesn't work at all for any AOSP rom so sometimes we don't bother messing with APNs config when we port.
I've had plenty of APN problems while roaming with my US Cell phone. In April in December I traveled to Dallas, was in a building I couldn't get signal and when I came out the phone said "No APN Configured" - Once I landed in Milwaukee and powered on my phone again it worked just fine. Same thing happened again last week when I was out in a rural area.
I've grabbed APN Manager from the apps store and backed up my settings to restore them if this occurs again. I might get a chance to try that out this weekend since i'll be up in the middle of nowhere once again.
I can't recall exactly what I was running before but now i'm on the EC10 Heinz 57.

I have HTC HD 7. Previously I had Tmobile and now i just bought Straight talk as my network provider. How can I set up APN so i can access data on my cell? I am able to make calls and sms, NOT MMS and internet? can someone help plz
Try HTC Connection Manager first. It should be in your HTC Marketplace. It should automatically set your gprs. In case it doesn't do that, ask info about APN from your provider so you can type it in manually.
Did you even try a single search? Like, "Set APN on WP7" or something?
Settings -> Cellular -> Network Selection / Add APN.
Alternatively, the Connection Setup app (as recommended by @hatuna; it's in the HTC Apps section of the Marketplace) should work just fine.
I am running into the same issues as OP. When I search for "Setting APN on WP7" the responses indicate the steps to edit / create APN's for the AT&T sim. For the T-Mo sim's, Straight Talk wants us to add Port information but no Proxy and WP7 won't let you save settings if you have a port # but no proxy value.
Try adding it as "my.apn.domainORT", like you would for a port on a web browser.
Alternatively, try using the proxy port, but setting the proxy name to the APN as well.
Finally (first, really), have you tried Connection Setup yet?
Finally managed to make it work. I used these settings :
APN - wap.tracfone
Proxy - 216.155.165.40
Port - 8080
Leave username and password blank.
I am getting 3G speeds with this setting.
I tried the HTC Connection manager but it doesn't have an option for StraightTalk. I did try Tracfone as an option but it didn't work.

OK, Quick and dirty as usual...How to get working hotspot bypass on rooted nougat. It works on initial root or you can edit the build prop back to 310000 n reboot. Okay, so more or less follow the rooting method in godpowerrr's thread unless you're already rooted then pickup at the adding APNs below:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/sprint-s7-edge/how-to/sm-g935p-spr-root-nougat-7-0-data-t3568780 Thanks be to @godpowerrr
Follow all the steps, except just leave wifi on while you run through the process.
When you get to the steps with the build.prop edits don't do it yet.
Go into settings-connections-Mobile Networks-Access Point Names: click "add" in the top right.
Add this APN;
Name: Whatever you want to name it.......LTE HOTSPOT
APN: n.ispsn
Proxy: not set
Port: not set
Username: not set
Password: not set
Server: not set
MMSC: http://mms.sprintpcs.com
Multimedia Message Proxy: 68.28.31.7
Multimedia Message Port: 80
MCC: 310
MNC: 120
Authentication Type: not set
APN type: default, mms, dun <-----no spaces after commas
APN protocol: IPv4/IPv6
APN roaming protocol: IPv4/IPv6
Turn APN on/off: APN tuned on
Bearer: LTE
Mobile virtual......: none
Mobile virtual.....: not set
NOW CLICK SAVE AND IT WILL DISAPPEAR- don't worry, it'll re-appear later.
now go back to the root guide and pick up where you left off changing the build.prop values. when you change to 310120 the new apn will populate.
This is where you need the MSL- manually select the new APN you created. Either way you should have a full functioning hotspot.
To sum it up you can add a Custom APN by changing the build.prop, creating the APN, saving, and changing it back. Have fun

1st look at your normal LTE APN and write down all the info.
I'm not sure exactly what at&t has for the equivalent of ro.cdma.default_numeric but I would suppose it has something similar. search for the combined combination of your MCC and MNC. that's the number you'll want to change. as you can see from the OP, sprint is 310, and 120. so the combined numbers are 310120. you'll see the numbers when you look at your APN.
edit the build.prop line to 310000. reboot and go through the op steps to create(add) an identical APN to the one you wrote down. settings-connections-Mobile Networks-Access Point Names: click "add" in the top right. The only changes that would be made would be the name of the APN and the addition of dun to the APN type line. everything else will look just like your stock APN from earlier. make sure to click save and it will disappear. then change your build.prop line back to what it originally was and reboot. it should show up in the list of your APNs now. then, using your msl and ##data#, go into apn settings and select the new apn you created. Hope it works. pm me if you run into roadblocks, also i'd like to know the build.prop/APN info if there are issues.

Not sure why the ##data# dialer code wouldn't work unless you rooted at the same time and possibly missed a step or disabled the app it triggers. Make sure you click "save" after you have the new APN all written up, then it will show up when you change your build.prop back to 310120. Also make sure your editor has been granted root permissions. Just throwing a few things out there, there are so many little things you could've possibly missed.

It turns out, I'm pretty stupid. Apparently didn't know how to spell DATA. That or it just started working randomly. However, when testing I still get "You have not subscribed to the Hotspot service"
I've checked and after the ##DATA# and entering my MSL I'm able to select the custom APN. It just wont allow tether. I don't know if it makes a difference, but I'm rooted on 7.0 Nougat S7 Edge

Hi there,
Just wanted to ask if there was a way to adjust the APN settings on the oneplus 7 as it appears it has been greyed out with no "+" sign to add new. Not sure why this is happening as I came from a oneplus 3 device which had this option. My father is traveling in europe right now and has the same device, he is unfortunately unable to edit the APN settings with the purchased sim card which is causing him grief. Why has this been disabled? For some reason as well the carrier that he is using, BONBON in Croatia, the pushed settings are not correct and thus he cannot get internet or 4G internet working. I should mention my device is not rooted or unlocked bootloader and this would not be an option for him over in europe as he is not comfortable nor has the setup to do so.
Is there any help here? It appears it may be just our phones as I checked with another pixel 3 locally here and it has the "+" sign available to add another setting etc.
Thoughts on this, really need some help to get him going over there!
New development:
Turns out the "+" sign has now appeared and we have attempted to enter the following information from BonBon technical support. Unfortunately after we enter the below information and hit save, nothing happens. I have found another post on here indicating that MVNO should be set to something to allow for it to save. Weird. I haven't tried, but here are the results of the APN settings below:
Name: Internet
APN: internet.ht.hr
Proxy: Not set
Port: Not set
Username: Not set
Server: Not set
MMS center: Not set
MMS proxy: Not set

APN protocol: IPv4
APN roaming protocol: IPv4
APN enable/disable: APN enable

Mobile virtual network operater (MVNO) type: None
Once I hit save and back out there is nothing there listed, no matter what i did.
check on yur phone if you have an app created on your phone by the sim card:
"SIM Toolbox" or "BonBon services" or something like that
Hi there,
Unfortunately nothing was created, is there an app or tool I can use to get this added? Any ideas as to why it wont save after trying to add?
