Radio/WiFi Question - HTC One S

Hi folks.
My M7 recently died during surgery, so I'm back on my crusty ol' One S, which I've been using as a book.
I recall updating the GSM/WiFi radios separately of the ROM (bilal-liberty's 1.35 and took the WCNSS and ADSP update at the same time), but not how I did it.
My questions are:
- If I simply install the latest Lineage ROM, will that also install the radios?
- If not, what's the current recommended radio and WiFi installs? My WiFi seems to have short range and is unstable.
Thanks,
Stuart.

I'm not sure if the Radio is installed with the ROMS, but i think it doesn't.
I also had problems with my connection and I installed the RADIO Version "1.20.50.05.16_10.31.50.08L." , after I did that it worked perfectly.

ROMs back on club i-mate...

Well they reappeared this morning nut the UK ext ROM seems to be exactly the same version as the one I installed a week ago.
I was expecting an update to fix the instabilities but seems not!
Am I missing something here?
Just finished talking with one of their CSR's... He assured me that this is a new rom and that it fixes the BT issues.
the generic WWW version and the UK that appeared today is still the same as the one before that had the problems... as for the arabic and Italian they haven't updated it yet! hopefuly next year they will release a new rom lol
yesterday they said 3-4 days. So thursday March 17 / friday march 18 it may be

I would be more inclined to believe this if there was a differenent version number or even if the pakcages were a few bytes different - I really don't want to hard reset again to install the same 1.06 ROM I have already.....
just upgraded with the wwe rom i think they fixed the bluetooth problem.

Missing Bluetooth
I just upgraded to the new rom this morning. I didn't have any bluetooth issues before, but now when I attempt to pair devices to the Jam it says that there is no Bluetooth software installed. Has anybody else had this problem and fixed it?

I think it must be the old 1.06 Malloy, cause the really new one is only online since this evening (14-03-05) and you upgraded this morning...
see this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=18689&highlight=
WIZ is upgrading as we speak, hope he will post his findings soon...

I had both the previous imate 1.06 WWE and today's 1.06WWE. If you do a byte by byte comparison with a tool like HexComp to the 3 nbf files included in both ROMs you will see that they are both indentical so there is no new 1.06 version! I suggest we will have to wait for a newer version even more!
I think that this is the new update. A soft reset solves the problem temporally, but once you disable bluetooth the problem resumes.

Questions about flashing radios

Sorry about all this, but I have some questions that hopefully someone can help me out with.
First, is there a thread somewhere that has all the available usable radios? I ask because I noticed that a lot of these roms state that you should use a specific radio for their roms?
Will flashing a new radio every time you flash a new rom break something...like gps, data etc.?
Also is the current stock radio listed anywhere?
My radio is listed as : 12.39.60.19P_26.06.04.06_M ... is that this the current stock radio?
Thanks

1. Yes currently it resides in the Desire HD section, because these phones are virtually the same with a few exceptions. I will post the link as soon as I find it.
2. the possiblity is there but to my knowledge this isn't a general problem.
3. Yes it is listed and if I remember correctly it is the stock radio.

I'm a bit curious...
My radio is listed as 12.39.60.19U_26.06.04.06_M (since I've used the hack kit with provided radio).
What is the difference between the P and the U at the end of the baseband model number?
Thank you for the radio thread think, that's excellent.

I've seen this a lot around this forum. It seems people get either U or P when flashing the stock radio. Even more interesting, when I flash back to stock with the RUU I get an H. The MD5 of the radio in both the RUU and the hack kit are the same though, so I've been curious how we get different revisions of the "stock" radio?
Hmmmm....That is interesting...
I used the attn1 hack and twopumpchump's v1 ROM and my radio is the P also. I wonder if there is any differences in the radios due to the H, P, or U codes .
Maybe that is why some people have problems with their GPS working with the different ROMs and others with the exact same ROMs don't have any GPS problems......Hmmmmm......

i also know if you change the value of hsxpa it changes the basebands:
1= 12.39.60.19H_26.06.04.06_M
2= 12.39.60.19U_26.06.04.06_M

[Q] RUU Help

I have a unlocked S4 HTC One S here in Ottawa, Canada. Using it with Mobilicity.
I am having major connectivity issues, dropping out of WiFi & 3G data all the time. Heard that an updated RUU radio might help.
I have looked all over this site, but I still have no idea which one I should be using, or where to find it.
Any help?
depending on your h-boot you might be able to flash zip radio only, without need for a ruu
try 1.06es radio, most people had good results with it
Thanks, but I was not asking how to, I can't seem to find any of the files that I need, or which version, which you just answered.

I have HBOOT 1.14, and that link says 1.13 or lower only. Also, I have the RADIO listed in that thread.
Is there not a newer ones available?

Thanks for the answer, but once again, that says for 1.13 or lower.
for hboot>1.13 the only way to upgrade radio without running a RUU is to flash a CM based ROM, and the radio would be updated to latest used by them, I guess now is 1.08ts

[Q] 5Ghz not working with CM10.1 on i815

Yesterday I flashed my Verizon i815 with the June 1 build of daniel_hk's CM101 ROM. It is very good and I really appreciate Daniel's work :highfiven this. I've checked the forums but don't see anyone else having a problem with the 5Ghz radio on this build but, then again, I don't see that many people are running it on the i815.
The problem may be familiar to some: I don't see any 5Ghz access points unless I have my tablet within a foot or two of the access point. Then I will get a weak signal. The 2.4 Ghz band is fine...maybe a little weak. I previously had no problem connecting to this same 5Ghz access point using stock ICS.
I don't have permission to post on the development forums. Is anyone else using this same ROM having this issue on their i815 or can you recommend a recent ROM for the i815 which works properly on the 5Ghz band?
Thanks,
FreeToRun
I'm using the same rom but on p6800. Same problem as you've illustrated.

Thanks for the info.
Just so you know, I flashed the the pre-release build from June 23rd and, as I expected, it also has this same wifi problem. Daniel's change log shows that he modified the 5G wifi support on June 1. I'm going to try some of the older builds.
last build that 5ghz was working were on PA 2.55 (since i'v been using stock jb nowadays... cant say much about new build)... its a CM10 release. after migrating to CM10.1 / PA3.0 and above a new driver were made by daniel and he's still looking up about the problem...

OK, I appreciate the feedback. I guess I can stop flashing and be patient for Daniel to figure it out. Until then, I can survive on the 2.4 Ghz band.

I'm looking for a current download link for the latest available (and flashable) radio firmware, and a guide to installing just that - my home PC is a Linux Mint box.
If anyone has a better suggestion, please feel free to make it (other than wipe the caches from Recovery, reinstall the same ROM). Constant connection dropping is becoming frustrating.
A separate question -why do I need Magisk - what is its function relating to this ROM and does the ROM stop working without it?
Thanks,
Stuart
The One S doesn't support 4G/LTE. The fastest connection you can get with it is H+/HSPA+ (in some countries called 3.5G or 3G+).
You're already using the latest firmware files. Reflashing them most likely won't make a difference. Have you tested other roms? If Wifi and your mobile data connection work with them then it's a RR-related problem. The so called "data drop" was a quite common issue on older custom roms that weren't based on the One S's stock rom. The reason is (like for all phones that get shipped with different android flavours than vanilla android) that the custom rom devs can't use the OEM's proprietary codes which would be needed for using the hardware properly. It's the same reason for the camera being on custom roms so much worse than on stock rom on such devices.
The answer to your Magisk question depends on the question whether you need root or not. Like SuperSU (which was more commonly used in the past) it's a root app. LOS works perfectly fine without it.
Thanks for the reply, Flippy.
I was aware of the HSPA, I just forgot and wrote 3G/4G out of habit
Am I correct in thinking that the last 'stock' ROM for this phone was KitKat?
I was on Lineage after CM died, but there was an overheating issue which made me switch to RR. There was a certain amount of glitchiness, but it seems worse now. I did update to 1.35 and took the WCNSS and ADSP update at the same time. Seems a little bit better - but only a little bit.
On a personal note - which do you rate at the moment - RR or LO/S? Or any others?
Thanks.

The last official android version was 4.1 (firmware 3.x aka hboot 2.15). ? There's only the semi-official firmware 4.x (aka boot 2.16) based on Android 4.2 and leaked by llabtoofer that's newer than that.
Radio 1.35 and the corresponding Wi-Fi files are ported from a different HTC device (I always forget which one it is) and were only meant as a temporary fix for bilal_liberty's rom ports. They were never meant to be used with other roms and after the issues his ports suffered from got fixed he recommended not using these temporary fixes, anymore.
I personally use LOS. But my choice is only based on the fact that RR didn't exist when I switched to android 7 on the One S and that I'm too lazy, nowadays, to switch between roms every couple of weeks. The One S isn't my main device, anymore. I just want it to work in case I need a backup device.
