How can I use my phone's 240fps mode on my pc? - General Questions and Answers

So here's the full story
I made a cap with 3 IR lights on it to use it for head tracking with a software called "OpenTrack". But the problem is that I don't have a webcam(I know it sounds silly ), so I use my phone(Galaxy S8) with DroidCam to transmit the video. Now the problem is that it's only like 640x480 at 30fps. :/ So what I want to do is to utilize my phone's 240fps camera for better tracking. I hope this is possible to do with low latency(over USB , of course), or if it's possible at all. So the question is that is there an app, or any way to do this?

For me any questions is important , whatever the answer is obvious or not. To answer you , I haven't the sufficient knowledge to make this software , but you can try to Google the question , maybe you'll find a software

Video Messaging

I was just wondering, is there any developer who thinks this is possible.
Video Chatting on the G1. Kind of like Web Cam but for the G1. You call the person and connect to camera or something to that extent. Is that to out there or is it a possibility?
I think the biggest problem is no from camera. It would be retareded to have to flip the phone to aim the camera then turn over to see the responce. Instead of looking cool we would look lis a bunch of donkeys in the street...
but depending on the time might not be a bad thing
LOL! I completely forgot all about the camera angles.

I disagree, this is not just a phone. The RAZR was just a phone. The corded rotary dial phone your grandma uses... that's just a phone. This is a tool, and should be expanded upon in anyway we can. Technology is beautiful and ever changing. Never stop thinking of new ways to do things.
does G1 even support video messaging? like MMS? I dont think so..

[Q] Is it possible to disable Optical Image Stabilization?

Hello,
Before I buy the Nexus 5, I would like to know whether or not it is possible to disable the Optical Image Stabilization feature?
Thanks!

i'm not 100% positive on this, but my guess would be no. this is a hardware feature of the optics and not controlled by software (again, i could be completely wrong)
the other question is why do you want to? have you looked in the pictures thread?

That's no good news.
I was thinking about implementing a "vision based" navigation system (really just a simply algorithm).

In the interest of helping future google-searchers who discover this thread as I did, know that with Android L and later the camera2 api allows for this functionality.

Pre-Purchase question on display - Huawei Watch 2 Sport

Hi guys, i'm coming from the Moto 360 Sport, and interested in getting the Huawei Watch 2 Sport, simple because Moto crippled it after the AW 2.0 upgrade, ridiculously slow to use now.
With the Moto 360 Sport, it did have a display feature called "AnyLight ", that displays in 'any light' and i loved that.
Motorola accomplishes it by combining a traditional backlit LCD in "transmissive" display with reflective backing. Or something like that.
Anyway, I really like this feature, see screens attached.
I was wondering what the Huawei Watch 2 Sport/Classic screens look like in dim/ambient mode. Does it have this idea?
Anyone care to share some photo of this, as I've read/watched so many reviews, but cannot see what this looks like.
Thanks a lot.
Darren.
Hw2 is amoled so in ambient modes is uses much much less battery because of the black pixels being off, but this feature that you're talking about is not available in hw2, however the watch display is very sharp and shiny even in direct sun light.
also be aware that amoled screens get damaged (burn-in issue) if a pixel is on a particular color for a long time, meaning that for example on ambient mode there are numbers around the screen that are always on, this may cause those numbers to burn in the screen so even when you are in a completely different screen, you will still see those numbers! (for more info google Burn-in)
Just adding to what was already said regarding burn in. Most watch face makers that support ambient move include a feature which shifts the pixels around ever so slightly to prevent burn in. A very simple yet elegant solution to the problem.

yeah if that's as you said it would be great, I havent noticed it yet
So I just found something interesting. Under developer options > Wear Developer options there is a "force anti burn" setting. Set this up now to give it a try.

hi seems like relevant topic for my question.
are there many disadvantages to get the wifi only (non 4G) of this huawei watch 2? (i get the obvious i cant put sim card and get direct internet connection of course). for example:
will the NFC still works on the non 4G model?
how about the xda community ie root twrp and custom rom? less or more than global version?
any other important things i need to know when deciding to get wifi only or 4G?
thank you.

sorry got it mixed up. before, i thought GPS live tracking need constant internet connection and you dont want to carry your phone while jogging.
ok got it now.
also by googling i think NFC works on both model but ofcourse the wifi model will need to be connected to phone to be able to use NFC android pay for example, i assumed

camera test
Will you please try downloading gcam and see how it takes pictures with gcam? both using HDR+ and regular.
GCam is the camera app from the pixel phones. there are versions of it for different phones (unofficially) here in xda.
I want to see how different the pictures are. i heard that they were using the S7 Edge camera sensor. that leads me to believe that the camera is potentially not bad. Basically that would be a win for all of us if true. will you put that to the test? thanks man. also i was looking to buy it to root as well but im not sure if you are up to go that far but if you do, let me know how it goes. thank you very much!

Is brightness as big an issue as some claim it to be? I dont often use my phone under the sun or even outdoor, but it still got me worrying.

IMHO,a resounding NO........
The display is plenty bright, adjust to your liking.
Adaptive lighting/auto brightness,I have both turned off.
I have yet to use a phone that suits me using either, always being too dim, this one is no different.
Crank it up to your liking manually & it's more than bright enough, with plenty to spare.
No phone is going to be as clear/bright/legible outdoors vs indoors.
From my experience/usage with many, many phones, there's negligible,if any, difference under sunlit/outdoor conditions from one phone to the next.
I'm sure you could detect negligible differences in a side-by-side comparison, but, that's not real-world usage, just for the bloggers/websites to have something to talk about.......
Rest assured, the screen is plenty bright,go ahead & dive in..................... :good:

I have used neutron for a while now, the gui is not the best, but it does have really good sound.
Has anyone tried emulating ps2 games or Wii yet i have seen videos of game play on the galaxy s8 . Curious if the hardware makes it more playable

Can you edit the intesity of the blur in portrait mode?

And if so, can you do it later?
Doubtful as that is in the post processing I believe. The reason people are looking for the Gcam port, or they would just adjust the current camera software.
Being a post-process is exactly why you should be able to do whatever you want woth the background. So is it a yes or a no? Can you do it with stock camera?
Actually I meant that it's done in the OnePlus algorithms. Meaning you'd have to be a camera expert to even know what does what. It's not like taking an APK and porting it. You'd have to rewrite it or know what to rewrite. At least this is what I'd expect

If I'm right its not possible with the current stock camera app
But if Oneplus tries and puts some effort on camera app ,they can
I really wish we could shoot in RAW format in portrait mode, does anyone know if that is possible? Or is it with the Gcam mod?

Wow, that's...that's game breaking for me honestly. I heard amazing things about OnePlus (5t and 6), especially in terms of gaming performance, and i was really looking into buying one (plus 6 ) in the near future. But i love taking pics in weekends and holidays and edit them later to my leisure.
I'm keeping my eyes on news of some update that fixes this limitation that shouldn't exist in the first place

If you're that worried about raw, you should be shooting with a dslr camera. These are point and shoot that has been given a manual mode but these are still not a replacement for a regular dslr.

To me since I am a photography enthusiast (fairly serious) that the portrait mode is still just for quick snaps to give a more focus point of view on the subject, not for wedding photos and such. I get your point you still want to maybe do some editing. But I guess my point is if you like the phone for enough to want to buy it and raw photo editing is a thing, it sees that the OP should have looked for that from the beginning and not be shocked it's missing that feature 3 months after release in a forum post. Just my opinion
