Hi,
Seems to be an issue with everyone (according to the threads on MIUI Forum I searched up), but it's super annoying.
Anyone able to turn off the sound that WhatsApp makes when taking a pic?
I'm forced to use the Camera app to take a pic then send via WhatsApp in quiet places just to avoid the dreaded sound. Even taking a video on WhatsApp makes a beep sound when it starts to record!
First MIUI based phone and I'm starting to regret not just sticking to Samsung already, sad because I freaking love the form factor of the phone. Maybe a ROM flash (when possible) will help this a bit one day, I hope.

You need root. Then got to /system/media/audio/UI and you'll find a lot of ogg file. Rename the camera_click.ogg file as camera_click.ogg.backup.
You need to change the rights on the file to rename it with root explorer.
You can also change the videorecord.ogg and the videstop.ogg that are playing when you start a vid and stop it.

But maybe there is also a way without root..
Maybe it's also an location bug of the software

I don't think so. I tried the region fix before and it didn't worked.
No other solution than root...

I am trying to increase the volume of my S3 over bluetooth (especially with doggcatcher). I understand Aslamixer should help with the volume but I am clueless about how to do it (or if there is something going else that will do it). Thanks!

Any ideas on this? Anybody?
You should install it and see if it works. That's the only way to tell as nobody knows right now.

Installed the .apk by clicking it or placing it in the /system/app/ folder?
If you placed it in the app folder with the other file reboot the phone and see if it recognizes it and works.

I installed it from the play store, ran it (which installed some additional files), and then opened it. Now I have a huge list of items, but no idea what any of them mean or what they do.

Couldn't help you there. I use Handcent SMS Pro Beta. I also buy their yearly subscriptions for $9.99. I can send out a text list and the schedule them to send if I want to send them at a certain time. IT has many options. If you do decide to use Handcent go to your applications>All and disable Messaging to turn of the stock application or you will get double alerts.

He isn't asking about a messaging app. OP is talking about boosting his BT audio.
@op - Have you tried the Viper4Audio mod? I used this for my earbuds and BT connection for my car audio. It makes a huge difference. There is a link for it under the S3 apps and theme section.
The Synergy custom ROM and probably many others have options for boosting audio playback on headphones and bluetooth, which I think is what you are asking. its not really clear what you are seeking, but it you mean media playback on A2DP on bluetooth, then ramble over the the development section.

The Viper Mod is perfect! Thank you so much!
As many of you will be aware, Samsung and more specifically for our needs, LG, devices have a strange SystemUI Crash when casting from certain apps (mainly the Google ones).
Why does this occur?
Well it is because LG and Samsung modify their status bar to include volume sliders, even if you disable the sliders the code still exists and this clashes with the way casting apps operate.
So for the fix, I asked my good friend @HomerSp to take a look at this error for me, now he doesn't have an LG G3 and this didn't benefit him at all, but he did it to help me, and for the fun of it, so all thanks should be directed to him.
He has built us an xposed module that stops the crash, as far as my testing has gone it seems to be working fine now.
The APK is attached.
Homer tells me he doesn't have paypal at the moment so don't worry about donating, if you really feel compelled to then please donate to charity, or give it to me and I will ensure that it ends up with either Homersp or a charity.
Are you a samsung user that found this page?
This module might fix your errors too, its worth a try it can't cause any harm as you can simply deactivate it if it doesn't work, or gives you different errors.
I can confirm this works ☺
Thanks

Yep, confirmed working for Youtube and Play Music. Kudos to the dev.
Hey guys, I just uploaded the source code to Github in case anyone wants to have a look at how I fixed this bug: https://github.com/HomerSp/XposedCastFix.
EDIT: I also added some information about why this bug occurs, in hopes that either Samsung and LG, or Google (yes, it's as much their problem as it is the manufacturers) fix this problem.
A lot of us are noticing the ATT and Sprint variant of the phone does not come with the brightness or volume slider in notifications. Can you shed some light as to how those of us who don't use cast can add the sliders back?
Any chance to get that working for the Samsung Note 10.1 2014?
Same issues with the installed apk as without it.

Whilst the crash on the Samsung is caused by the same problem (existence of the volume sliders) the exact crash might be different as Samsungs code will differ from LG's.
We would need to see a logcat of the Samsung crash in order to know what needs patching.

As lenny said, I will need a logcat to check what needs fixing. It might be that more methods in AudioManager need patching.

For your information, Xposedcastfix worked smoothly (screen mirroring) on Note 10.1 2014 LTE (P605) after installation (but without audio playing Asphalt7)). It stopped working after first disconnect. System UI has been crashing ever since. Worked with audio on second try after deactivating module/reactivating/reboot, but not on third and fourth tries.
I only have problem with 'Screen mirroring' but not chromecasting you tube etc.
Thanks

Does SystemUI crash or hang (Force Close vs App Not Responding)? @Zod09999 has the same device (a Note 10.1 variant) and SystemUI hangs there. We are working on a fix for that.

I'm looking for a good phone call recorder for the Idol 3. I've tried a couple and they don't work well. Does anyone know of a call recorder app that works well with the Idol?
has somebody already find a good call recorder
I've tested several no one seems working properly. I think the idol must be rooted to make them work.
Envoyé de mon Alcatel Idol3.
I have rooted idol but xposed module call recording doesn't work for me.
Sent from hell
I've tried for years to get consistently satisfactory call recording on a variety of Android handsets, without much success. The major sticking point has been trying to record both sides of a conversation audibly. Usually it's been necessary to put the phone in speaker mode in order to pick up the other caller's voice. I'm a journalist, and this been a constant frustration. Google Voice can be an option, but it allows recording only on incoming calls.
I'm using "call recorder for android" from f-mod . Works reasonably well on outgoing calls, but haven't tested incoming.
I've found this one wich finally works : smart auto call recorder.
Envoyé de mon Alcatel Idol3.
works like a charm, thanks. Idol 3 4.7
Well, add more to the ranks of the impressed. Just tried it and it appears to work perfectly. Thanks so much (or should I say, "Merci bien"?)
That's great there's such a good free app available. I'll be testing it further.
If anyone is looking for a more full-featured (albiet pricy) call recorder, I can confirm "Call Recorder" by XDA member skvalex is also working on the 4.7".

It would be so nice to have something like that, and it does not seem to be complicated, just use whatsapp web. I hope some dev is interested in creating this.
There is an app available from the store called Whats History. It looks to allow fairly full functionality of What's App. I don't use What's App enough to bother though. If you try it please report back.
It's possible to read all incoming messages with what's history, but not the outgoing ones. Therefore, it's not visualized like a conversation

I have, it's quite inferior because it does not use whatsapp web.
You do not see pictures, you do not see contacts, you can only reply to messages that you have received. Besides the layout being bad.
Hoping someone can answer some questions for me. Thinking about buying one of these, but need to make sure of a few things.
1. Does the phone have some kind of voice wake-up? With the new Chinese voice assistant, I would assume there's some kind of voice wake-up system for that -- anyone who tried the global rom, can google assistant wake up the phone with "OK Google?" Seems like a long shot, but would love to know.
2. On the Mi Mix 2, the brightness sensor was placed right where someone using the phone left-handed's hand would be. Has this changed? I heard from someone they centered the brightness sensor for this one, but can anyone confirm?
3. I hope someone rooted can try this, but is it possible to put the phone in diag mode, connect with QPST, and make a qcn backup of the baseband? With Android O I'm no longer able to do this on Mi Mix 2. If anyone willing to try this, ask for more details if you don't know how to do it.
I'm not running an official MIUI ROM (xiaomi.eu ROM), but since the base is pretty similar my answers should still count...
1) OK Google does work, but apparently not for unlocking / wakeing the device. I guess this could be fixed with some fiddling around
2) The brightness sensor isn't dead center on the 2S either. It is around 1cm left to the middle.
3) Worked perfectly fine for me
