Detact [0.2] - Activity detection for Tasker! [4.0.3+] - Android Apps and Games

Detact was featured on XDA Portal!
Hi everyone,
After my first Tasker plugin, AppContext (Download | XDA), I am proud to present my newest:

Now available on Google Play and XDA Labs!
Detact detects activities and enables you to act on them in Tasker!
Automatically start Spotify when driving? Keep your phone locked while on your bike? Monitor heart rate while you're running? You got it! With Detact and Tasker, there are endless possibilities. How about measuring the time you spend sitting in a chair all day?
Detact uses technology already in your device, meaning it uses very little valuable battery power! (Specifically, Detact uses the new Activity Recognition Transition API.)
Detact may also work with other apps using the Locale API, such as Locale, Llama, Automate, Automagic and others. However, this is not tested extensively.
Detact can be fully utilized for free. To support development however, it contains purchasable upgrades (such as the removal of ads, the usage of Event Contexts and Variables and more).
Please understand that Detact is still considered to be in beta. There may be bugs. Please report them in this thread, or by sending an email to [email protected].
Constructive criticism is highly appreciated!

I'm very excited that Detact got featured on the Portal! Check it out!

@JayShortway
nice little app could you give some more details about the pro features (for example what kind of Detact Tasker event profiles you'll get)? The point of the variables is pretty obvious, you'll be able to have access to them directly for writing/reading purpose, I guess.

Yes of course!
Ad-free: This removes all ads.
Event Profiles: Allows you to use Detact as an Event Profile in Tasker, in addition to a State Profile. With Event Profiles, you can have Tasker react when an activity starts and/or stops. There is more information about Events in the Tasker documentation. In combination with the 'Multiple activities' feature, you'll be able to start a Task when, for example, you either start driving or cycling.
Variables: Allows you to access Detact's variables in your Tasks. In combination with the 'Multiple activities' feature, you'll be able to start a Task based on multiple activities, and then distinguish in your Task which activity triggered the Profile using the %dtactivity variable. This works even better with Event Profiles, because then the variables will be updated on every activity that you selected as trigger.
Multiple activities: Allows you to select multiple activities as triggers for your Profiles. In combination with the 'Variables' feature, you can distinguish in your Task which activity triggered the Profile. As explained above, in State Profiles the variables will only be set for the first activity that activates the Profile (due to a Tasker/Locale API limitation), whereas in Event Profiles the variables will be updated for every activity that you selected as trigger.
Hope this answers your questions! If you would like more information, please let me know!

Detact 0.2
Hi everyone,
I have just released Detact 0.2! It is now available on Google Play and XDA Labs.
The test-notification now has an icon and a color. The feedback button has been moved to the main screen. I fixed a crash which occurred when deleting multiple activities from the 'Add activities' screen. Also, Detact now only shows activities that are actually available. Lastly, there have been some optimizations, some refactoring and some bug-fixes.
Please report any bugs in this thread, or by sending an email to [email protected]. Thanks!
Enjoy!

@JayShortway
What are the "activities" you were talking of?
Activities of apps in Android or just only human activities like walking, driving?

Sorry for the late reply. I must've missed the notification.
I mean human activities, specifically driving, cycling, running, being still and walking.

Maybe a silly question, but why is your app beter then activityTask from Marco stornelli?

Ha, I'm not sure, but thanks for the compliment!
I'm not familiar with activityTask, but my guess would be that Detact uses different underlying technology.

Hello,
I've installed app and premium but no reaction to tasker profile. No test notification.
I'm on Oreo S8+
made profiles like description (bluetooth task), but detact profile dont trigger to perform a task (do a Pop inside task to know if it triggers).
Thx for help or soloutions.

Hi,
Thanks for your reports, and I'm glad it's working! Out of curiosity, do you have other (Xposed) mods on your device?

[APP] [>= 2.1] Calendar Notifier (recurrent events notification)

This application implements the recurrent reminders for calendar alarms, which strangely has not been included in any version of Android.
With this application you can set the sound, vibration type, number of repeats and interval between them of each calendar event reminders, and even set separately the settings of each of the calendars.
This application is a battery, and runs only when it is displaying an alert.
Note: Remember to disable the standard application reminders in order to don't duplicate the first reminder.
BUGS
Please, in case of bugs you can post the description (logcat appreciated) in this
thread or directly by email.

Hi, thanks for this good app. Please continue the good work.
I noticed a bug since the latest update: now I was forced to close the reminder window because it was stuck (either if you click snooze or dismiss, it's the same problem).
Before this update, the reminder window closed itself properly, just after you clicked snooze or dismiss.
Hope you can fix this.
Best regards.

I had that too! It needed to presses to dismiss and then it did an FC. I thought it was my humble little phone.
And it is fixed! Outstanding, great support.
The other feature I really appreciate is that the Notifier works on calendars that are not visible. I have one named "hidden" that has daily reminders of little things that I forget, but the Notifier picks up ALL alarms in ALL calendars.
Perfect app, more than I had hoped it would do. I bought the unlock, thank you

Nice and sleek design. Love the app functionalities.
There's a bug though. Whenever you start a timer, pause it, delete it and then create another. The pause button remains to "play"
Beautiful! I don't have the issue of pause button remains to play, running on Pantech A850L Stock 4.1.2
Very nice) I also don't have problems with pause button on my samsung galaxy s

@kayusumi/@Balter could you please try this steps to be sure the pause/play button is working?
Start a timer, tap on pause (the time flash and the button turn as play), when still in pause delete the timer with the trashcan, set a new timer, and you should see the PLAY button instead of the pause.
Could you confirm this bug?
Thanks you all.
Sandro, Pizza Entertainment
Ok, if doing so, the new timer would start with a play button
I am sorry that I didn`t see "pause it", I just delete it when running and create a new one
Wow!!!!
Beautiful Timer got a mini review on Android Police (with 40 other apps but it is ANDROID POLICE!!!)
http://www.androidpolice.com/2013/0...-the-last-2-weeks-61813-7313/#beautiful-timer
Thanks a lot.
Very nice looking timer Has some very nice features and options too.
I had some questions and suggestions:
Questions:
1. Will you be adding customizable colours to the timer wheel by any chance? (Like you can change the timer name, be able to customize the colour too.)
2. Are there any small widgets (eg: 1x1) that can show the time remaining on a/the particular timer(s)? I did notice you have a larger widget for selecting/starting saved timers, but that's not what I'm after. I would like to see a small widget that simply shows the Timer name, circle icon remaining and time remaining.
Suggestion: I would like to be able to link timers together (ie: Expiry of Timer 1 sounds the alarm and starts Timer 2. Timer 2 could be linked to start Timer 3, or even a new instance of Timer 1 (and increment/ decrement a user defined counter?).) Yes, this sounds similar to a Tabata timer, but that's not the intent.
I have recently needed to use an icepack due to injury and I haven't been able to find a good timer that can link timers together.
The use case is as follows: 20 mins of icepack, 120 mins of rest, 5 mins of prep, repeat. If I could link timers together, I could easily manage this without having to keep restarting the timers each time.
Thanks.
Widget oddity
Hi,
I created some presets with the timer which I have now deleted as I don't want to use them anymore. For some reason, these presets always appear when I put the widget on the desktop. They aren't appearing in the app itself though.
This has occurred even after installing on a new device (must be linked to my Google account or may be related to a Titanium backup). I've tried clearing app data / reinstalling but they still appear. Is there anyway to clear the presets from the widget?
Thanks.

Hello James,
we do use google data backup so that the presets should be saved on the cloud. It may be that you hit a very strange bug where you can't delete it. Keep trying to delete the presets within the app. Eventually google will sync your presets and you'd be ready to go.
Cheers.
Hi,
I have been using your timer for close to TEN years - love it!!! - especially the snooze buttons when the app is alarming.
But I was using it on an Android 5 phone.
I recently moved to an android 10 phone (Pixel 4a) and your app has some significant issues:
1) It will no longer snooze when you press the volume buttons.
2) It does not reliably turn on the display when the phone is locked
3) It does not show your full-screen alarm page when the phone is locked.
4) After I unlock my phone, your alarm page only has a "Dismiss" button on that screen - there is no "restart" or "Snooze" buttons on it.
So, is there any chance of you updating your app to work with the newer versions of Android?

There are hundreds, if not thousands, of baby friendly contents on web, app, YouTube, and other video source. The app allows you to open any of those contents for your baby and protect your phone from being destroyed by baby random clicking.
*******************************************************************************************************************
Features:
★ Block touch on any apps, including YouTube and browsers (video playing without problem. I haven't find any app that doesn't work with this app yet)
★ Block home, back button, recent-app button, and menu button
★ Lock volume
★ Easy unblocking with options
★ Even works on lockscreen to prevent calling to 911
★ Option to "Keep screen on" while blocking
★ Option to "Lock orientation" while blocking
★ Super simple start. Only need 20 seconds to fully understand how it works
★ Super optimized; next to zero memory and CPU usage
★ Tiny app size
★ No ads; that's right, no ads
★ No sneaky permission, only 2 basic ones
★ No data usage, it doesn't even need internet access permission
★ No sign up, no email, no phone number, and no information is saved or required
*******************************************************************************************************************
Coming Features:
★ Option to allow interaction on running app in the foreground
*******************************************************************************************************************
Limitation:
This app does not provide baby content at this moment.
There are a few reasons:
1. ) I am not an expert at determining what content is the best for babies; I only want to provide what I believe is the best.
2. ) There are so many baby content available everywhere already.
Other notes:
This app does not block power button.
Volume lock is to revert volume changes.
If somehow you can't unblock after start blocking, you can press and hold power button to restart phone and that will fix it.
I have tested this app on as many phones and apps that I can, but if you do find an app or a phone that this is not compatible with, please email me the phone model, android version and the app link, so I can test it and fix it.

Thanks for your interest.
Regarding auto engage, is it that really useful? Currently it doesn't have that feature, because it only takes 1 swipe from the notification and 1 tap to activate.
Regarding auto startup on boot, it might be a bit too dangerous. For example, if you somehow can't not unblock it (For example, someone sets it to 10 taps/sec to unblock), then your last way to get pass it is to do hard reset which is holding power for 10 seconds.
But auto start up the notification is possible. I might add that in, just don't want to pollute the UI with 20 options that general moms don't know how to operate. I might add in an advanced option category in near future.
Thanks.

Sorry for using this thread for this, but I don't think so. I have an app for children on my tablet with pictures and spoken names off different animals. My nearly 2 year old daughter loves it, and actually she can name most of the animals clearly and instantly. I think the point is what kind of content you show to little kids and how long you let them play with it.
Swyped from my incredible Sony Xperia Z with Tapatalk 4
http://www.aap.org/en-us/advocacy-and-policy/aap-health-initiatives/pages/media-and-children.aspx
Confirms partly what I said, content and duration must be under parental guidance. But I think even kids under age 2 can learn from both: people AND media. And now let's stop hijacking the thread.

Hi!
Is it possible to have the app lock input for 0.5-1second after turning the screen on? I have a bug on my N5 that causes shadow presses when the screen is unlocked. Setting a lock pattern solves this on one side but when the light sensor turns on/off screen during a call it still causes erratic behavior.
Thanks.

Thanks, is there any more details you can give or perhaps a guide which gives more details as to how to use those things listed in help with gasket? I've never really used it before. Thanks

[APP][2.2+][ROOT] Toggle Wi-Fi Hotspot 5.0 (xda-exclusive free version)

Hi,
I've developed a widget to toggle Wi-Fi hotspot on Android 5.0/5.1 (Lollipop) and Android 6.0 (Marshmallow). It requires root.
This is an xda-exclusive free version! If you want to support me, please consider getting the paid version on Google Play or check out my other apps.
Please note: Redistribution of this app is not allowed!
Paid version on Google Play (same functionality): https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.cygery.togglewifihotspot
New: Now available via XDA Labs!
Device compatibility: second post
Please note: The widget is passive. Thus, it has to request root every time it is refreshed. Although the battery impact is negligible, this usually results in frequent (Toast) messages indicating that the app was granted root rights. Please refer to your superuser management app if you'd like to disable those messages specifically for this app.
Features:
Widget
Locale/Tasker plugin
Shortcut
Custom icon images
Save and restore Wi-Fi state when toggling on/off
Requirements: On Android 5.0 and later, when SELinux is set to enforcing: a superuser app with support for a SELinux context parameter (-cn). Currently, only SuperSU supports this parameter.
Issues:
Android 7.0: Please check this post by @jakejm79 regarding issues with re-enabling WiFi.
Other issues: When reporting any issues please include the following info in your post: Device, ROM and ROM version, exact version number of this app you use (don't just write "latest"), superuser management app (e.g., SuperSU) and version, content of any shown error messages. Describe in detail what you tried to do, what you expected to happen, and what happened instead. Include screenshots/screencasts where possible and useful to show the issue.
Cheers,
cygery

Great! Which device are you using?
Nexus 5 on 5.01
There shouldn't be any issues with this app on Android 5.1, however, if anybody experiences issues please post.
This works on the Sprint note 4, thank you.
Working on Nexus 5 with Android 5.1
Thanks
Lifesaver!
Tasker plugin... fantastic! I've been waiting for this!
There are those of us like myself out there that were having issues with the native Tasker hotspot toggle on Motorola devices running KitKat. The toggle allowed you to turn the hotspot on, but it could not turn it off. This Tasker plugin works beautifully, and cleared that problem right up! Thank you so much for your great work on this!
Moto X (1st Gen) running Android 4.4
Works great on my Nexus 4 running stock 5.1.1. Thanks!
I am brand new to xda. I just set this up on my Galaxy Note 3 running Lollipop 5.0 on AT&T and it works great so far. I'll send an update if I run into any issues.
Thank you, I appreciate your hard work.
I've uploaded a new version (v1.0.1.0) which adds support for Android 6.0, an option to control automatic refresh of the toggle state, and some small fixes and improvements.
Working great on my Nexus 6 running 5.1.1. I am using Llama to look for the BT connection to my Android car stereo and then launch Toggle Wi-Fi Hotspot 5.0 to turn on the wifi hotspot.
Thank you!
Working with Wiko Fever using Lollipop 5.1

Me too! I like to use it as these tools throught LlamaLab's Automate:
http://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=tether.in_dash.com
http://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=eu.inrete.autotethering
I hope some developer of these tools add support for this "plug-in"

Thanks. Working Great on my Nexus 6 running 6.0.1 (latest Chroma ROM dated 2015-12-10). Your project has been the only way that I've found to be able to toggle WiFi tethering from my Pebble (via AutoPebble/Tasker).
Using on an unlocked Verizon Droid Turbo on Computerfreak's rom and 1.0.1.0 version of the app. It works fine until occasionally it causes my phone to reboot when toggled. My only fix has been to manually go in and toggle tether and then the widget/tasker plugin works. Has anyone else encountered this or know why it does this?
Hi,
Tasker/Locale plugin is a must have! Thank you for your App.
However, I suggest to add the option for receive plain Android Intent Actions (when the option of "Allow external access" is on). Not all "automatization Apps" have support for plugins, but several of them (if not all) have the option for sending Intents.
Please, you agree? :fingers-crossed:

The external access includes support for standard shortcuts intents which might be simpler than Locale intents. I think this was discussed in more detail in one of my threads already, please search there for it. There are no plans to simplify this even further. After all, the Locale plugin basically uses just a bit more complex intents.

Hi Cygery,
Thank you for your response! All your "Toggle" Apps are impresive! :good:
Also, if you implement "shorcut intents" this it's great.
However, I can found how to use it.
(I see only:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=65437395&postcount=259
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=56875947&postcount=12)
Using "Nova Activities intents" for "Toggle Wi-Fi Hotspot 5.0" I only see 4 different intents:
com.cygery.tooglewifihotspot.MainActivity
com.cygery.tooglewifihotspot.ConfigureShortcutActivity
com.cygery.tooglewifihotspot.RunShorcutActivity
com.cygery.tooglewifihotspot.EditSettingActivity
Which one I need to use? None of them work for me. Please, can you explain (or point to the thread) where this is described? Thank you!
My objective is simple: one intent for enable HotSpot, and another intent for disable HotSpot (without using any Configure Intent, as I like to call them using shell scripts).
Done: In your "Automatic" App (AutomateIT, Automate, Llama, etc.) use "Shortcut" and not "Intent". :highfive:
And just two more suggestions for this App:
- Add the option to "auto-enable Wi-Fi" when the HotSpot is disabled: When the HotSpot is disabled, the Android system shutdowns the Wi-Fi (client). But when the HotSpot is disabled, the Wi-Fi (client) isn't enabled. I feel interesting an option (yes, optional!) in you App to auto-enable Wi-Fi.
Update: Using the shortcut call this is already done!
- Add the option to trigger the intents using "Secret Codes": Then, when the external access is enabled in the App, will be possible to "dial" a secret code for launch a function. For example, dial "*#*#919191*#*#" for enable HotSpot, and dial "*#*#919190*#*#" for disable. This will be more a one more user friendly option for trigger events, and it's easy to implement. See this for implement it in your code: http://simonmarquis.github.io/Android-SecretCodes/
I hope you agree these suggestions. :fingers-crossed:
Regards!

Tracker doesn't need any registration or account. Can be used anonymously.
It's focused on security, privacy and scalability and simplicity.
Once you install it on another device and pair it by using an unique one-shot code, you can track it down for ever.
You can also choose to hide the app icon if needed.
You can also add yourself for testing purpose.
Passively track all your added devices with only a swipe down or track them with max accuracy with one tap.
Pairing approach is for your own privacy and ensure you and only you can receive location datas.
We can't access any of your informations.

With a single IAP Pro license you can remove all ads and you can track unlimited devices for ever.
Tracker uses Location permission only if you decide to be tracked.
Tracker uses External storage permission only if you decide to use the backup feature.

Uhm that's weird. Did you modify the apk by any chance? Any log you could provide?
Thanks!
edit: do you have play services 10 installed?
How does it behave with low consumption GPS mode and how much does it affect battery?
I'll be glad to try it if it isn't a battery killer

Master device doesn't use battery.
Tracked devices do but only when tracked in real time and just for that time. There's no background process or wakeups.
Passive tracking barely uses any battery instead, you can track passively all added devices by just swiping down/refresh main window.

Thank you. What about GPS? Does it have to be in full precision mode or it also work on battery save mode or GPS only mode?
By default, when configuring tracked devices, it will ask for full precision settings.
Nothing prevents you from switching to a lower power settings after that.
You will be warned though when you try to track down any device whose location settings aren't satisfied so you know why location may be inavailable or inaccurate.
Hi
Is this app shows drawing on map from A to B or just shows last location?

Hi, passive tracking shows last location while real-time tracking shows you the device as it moves in real time (like in movies)
Amazing application. I am writing article about your application on my blog in day or two. I didn't seen such a perfect app ever Thanks

once you hide it? Nope but a dialer code or a remote unhide command it's something i could add.

hi, thanks very much for the nice review
I've got many during the years for many projects but many didn't caught the very essence sometimes.
You actually deeply pointed out all the things i'm actually trying to accomplish with this app and the small differences with others. Thanks again.
About the hide icon feature, i've implemented a secret code at first but then realized not every device got a dialer app , so went with a remote command.
It's done and works ok, i'm just holding the update a bit cause i understand too frequent updates for an app like this can be a bit tricky due to the multi device tracking nature.
Will push it soon though.
If user will hide the icon then How will they open it? I mean it will be hidden. Short code will be awesome
