My OP6 have this uneven lighting on my screen. It is visible when you have a dark grey background, in a dark room, and the brightness is on 5%-10%. It's also visible when you open up chrome app and close all the tabs until you got nothing but a dark background and a + for new tabs. Is this normal? Or should I RMA it?

Here you go
I don't think that's normal at all. At least my OP6 doesn't have that. The brightness is even across the entire screen.
Normally the issue only have Huawei and the LG OLED Panels.
OnePlus 6 have an SAMSUNG Super AMOLED Display, and there is no issue with uneveness Display in low brightness.
Can anyone else confirm this if it's normal or not? Please try again and use this image i attached. The uneveness is quite visible with it.
Go in a dark room.
Full screen it (make sure there's no other bright elements are showing).
And lastly, set your brightness to about 10%.
Please tell me it's normal :/
*edit. Funny, can't seem to upload the pic.
Welp.

@aserate: I have the same issue. I tested it yesterday and saw some lines and uneveness.
Im happy, that I bought the OP6 from Amazon. Now I give the OP back and buy the Mi Mix 2S without AMOLED.
Only Samsung build AMOLED Display without uneveness and lines. I tested the screen from Mate 10 Pro, P20 Pro, Google Pixel 2 XL, LG V30, OP 5T,...
All of these smartphones had a problem with the OLED / AMOLED Displays.
Im wondering, that the user, who test the phone for YouTube or a mobile site, dont see the bad screen.
I bought the Mate 10 Pro 3 times ans the P20 Pro 2 times from different stores. All the devices had a bad screen.
I hate the UI from Samsung, that is why I only buy now smartphones without AMOLED, only IPS or Super LCD.
I don't have this issue. I checked 5 different OP6 units and all were ok. Only one had some slight uneven brightness, but not as visible as on your picture.
Appreciate your feedback. I guess i have to rma this since it's clearly an issue. Praying the replacement won't have this. Sad to know after watching linus' op factory tour with all that quality checking and stuff, common issue such as this still exist. Welp.
There is a way to completely deactivate the top part of the display to completely hide notch. But I don't want clock on the left of the notch I want it on both. There is a way?

Rubbish? I´d tested all of the phones:
- S8 & S8+
- S9 & S9+
-Note 8
All of them don´t had any display issues.
I´d tested:
- Mate 10 Pro
- P20 Pro
All of them had uneveness and lines on the OLED Display
I´d tested now:
- OnePlus 6
THis phone has uneveness, too.
Now I have OnePlus 5T and this phone has a perfect OLED display.
If I have the chance, to get a samsung phone with OnePlus Oxygen OS, I would like to swap asap!

i rest my case as you said all are perfect this proves other wise
Got the same issue. Also on my fourth device already because of loose alert sliders. my fourth device has a loose alert slider and an uneven screen. right side is darker than the left side and its noticable in dark menus, notification shade etc on low brightness
No problems for me here in terms of uniformity.
Great panel, but I wish the calibration was better:
- calibration too cold
- oversaturated
- gamma way too high
- black crush
I had this problem in 2 Oneplus 6. I made a RMA and got a new unit, without the banding, but a defective corners (a white glow in dark images). So I got another one, finally a perfect unit.
The other one was purchased via amazon, with the same banding issue, so I got an exchange.
All of them were red Oneplus 6.
The OP customer service was very helpfull resolving the problem. I give a 10 to them.
Anyone can check the screen with this images or an app called oled tools. You need a dark enviroment and low brightness
Im kind of hestitant to replace since im on my fourth device already and dont feel like waiting anymore. Thinking about returning and waiting for the 6t. Id have to use my galaxy s5 for a few extra months though...
I just received my replacement unit 2 days ago, I was waiting for it for almost a MONTH. Unfortunately, I still have the screen issue. I can't believe I was waiting for nothing. While waiting for the replacement, I only used a f***ing keypad phone, and it was really hard for me. Have I known this issue is fairly common, I haven't RMA'd my unit just to have a big chance to have the same issue again.

Well it’s not only note 8 but also presented at Galaxy s8/s9 series.
I’ve noticed too at my S9 plus unit that got earlier April.
Simple you’ve got used and live to that as there’s no other solution even getting replacement device or replace screen there’s no warranty will be free of that kind of issues.
There’s details review from Anandtech to that issue presented as I said Galaxy S9 series.
Take a look over here as I assume Vivo Nex also using AMOLED display from Samsung.
Only my OP5T does not show that issue with dark scenes at low light level brightness.

Well im just saying with above post that's those issue are common with AMOLED panel.
You can try your luck by replacement either whole device with new one or go service and being replaced by new panel
But as i said there is no warranty new device or panel will not have the same issue:fingers-crossed:
It's your personal choise what going to do
That's a shame. Because, I have had the note 8 for the last 9 months and luckily have had no issues. And I yeah I don't think the replacement is going to help, but just giving it a try and hoping I get a good panel

My Vivo NEX viewing angle not Good. If I see the screen straight (90*) screen looking something yellowish if I change the viewing angle a little it became cool white. Is it screen problem or display
Viewing angles on my phone looks pretty good. Yes there will be a slight shift of colour, but that happens on all the phones. So, I don't think it should be an issue unless its really bad on yours.

Hello everyone, I want to buy a OnePlus phone & have to choose between OnePlus 7 Pro vs OnePlus 7T which should I pick? Please help me decide.
It all comes down to your personal preference.
Do you prefer a curved display or a flat one.
You want more battery capacity or you think the new warp 30t charging tech can make up for having a smaller battery..
Do you prefer a notch or you want to wow people with a pop up selfie camera.
Do you feel the slight improvement that the 855+ has is better for you..
Other than those things. Battery capacity, display, notch/pop up.. and charging tech the phones are almost the same and yeah that macro lens..
I'm on the fence on which to buy myself..

7 pro's display is hands down one of the best display in the market right now.
If you want 256GB of storage you have to get a Pro. 7T maxes out at 128GB. Also the 7 Pro can be had with 12GB of RAM.
I would also add aesthetics...for me anyway...that back camera circle thing is just plain-ol-UGLY! The 855+ is a non-issue as I highly doubt you will ever see, or experience anything that shows one over the other. All the other arguments previously mentioned may be valid.
P.S. I have the 7 Pro and despite many who disagree with me online...I have tried both screen resolutions, as well as 90 vs 60 refresh rate....and there is just NO difference to me at all! (Let me get my flame suit zipped up here...) I am running all the latest software updates, I have had the phone for several weeks now, I have swapped the various screen settings many times with different apps....and...NO discernible difference!
I have wondered if by some chance the settings do nothing??? Maybe the screen is set to its highest available DPI and refresh rate and switching to the lower settings is not doing anything???
Or, maybe it is the other way around??? That the screen is set on the lowest settings and switching it to the higher settings does not really change anything??? YMMV
But I am telling you that the 7 Pro flies through anything and everything I throw at it. (I do not play games though) So, it is up to you! Boy it sure is getting warm in here.
Also, according to jerryrigeverything, the 7T suffers structural weakness for that ugly camera circle, the 7t he was testing cracked on the first stress test. While i am in no way a fan of the curved screen, i do appreciate a notchless QHD display.
One more thing which may, or may not be an issue for some...the notification slider button is smaller on the 7T than on the 7 Pro.
I would say for now the OnePlus 7 Pro for the win!
I have both. Right now I'm using the 7T as my daily driver. I like the flat edges but the notch is a little annoying since the apps cant use that space.
I would get the 7 pro. The curved edges and bezel less screen is amazing. 7t has an ugly back.
7 Pro also has a better display in terms of resolution.
I bought the 7 Pro about a month ago coming from a pixel 2 XL. The phone is great in every respect. The only thing that bothers me is the weight. This thing weighs a lot. ?

I believe it's just Temporary Burn at max brightness but I've never seen it be so obvious on literally ANY display before!!
The shadow you're seeing is caused by the Brightness Slider in dark mode, and can be recreated in less than 5 seconds, and goes away after 20 seconds
I read somewhere in the MIUI forums that it could be a software problem regarding MIUI 10/11's advanced display algorithms, but I highly doubt it as I know the system only changes the overall contrast based on lighting
I did multiple tests with dimming On/Off, and compared it to my Mi8 SE running some Xiaomi.eu MIUI 11 beta, it's a completely new problem on the Note 10
Please test it yourselves as well, I'm looking forward to detailed replies
Many thanks!!
I have mine by 2 months, mi note 10 with cc9 pro xiaomi eu rom, started noticing the same things latest 2 weeks ( you see it better in a dark enviroment ).
Max i reach is half brightness, can't stand more, so i can guarantee that is not because of max brightness as i've seen that happening even with just like barely readable brightness.
Reading mode and anti flicker don't help.
I can even assume that with anti flicker on ( that i always have ) is worse.

Visionox manufacfure the display, not the usual Samsung xiaomi used for their oled. Samsung is prone to burn in too, every oled is, but it is clear that quality talking this display is inferior to the Samsung one's, never seen this kind of ghost burn in until this phone. Let's hope will always remain only a temporary burn one
This is unbelievable... even the Samsung Galaxy S5 mini has far superior image quality and calibration
I don't have any burn-in problems yet but I can agree with you about the calibration and quality issue. Even when I change it to warm or cold, I can't notice a big difference, and I don't really like the colors it shows. Most of the reviews say this phone has a great screen, I don't think they were lying but there must be a problem with the quality standards of the brand of the screen. My 3 years old S8 Plus shows better colors with its cracked screen, which is annoying.
Hello,
I have OnePlus 8 Pro and Oppo Find X2 Pro.
Under 5% screen brightness OnePlus has huge black crush.
They fixed it with beta DC patch, which makes colour accuracy hitting the floor.
Oppo has very small black crush on minimal brightness level.
Both Oppo and OnePlus have the same screen model (just differently calibrated - OnePlus has extremly vivid calibration just like S20 and Oppo has very good natural colour calibration) - but same problem:
between 5-10% screen brightness there is a step which is making everything tinted green.
You slide brightness from 1% to 10% and you will have colours like: ok ok GREEEEEEEN ok ok ok.
I won't accept 1k€ phone having such bad screen, so I am thinking about trying flagship Xiaomi,
can you go into complete dark room and slide brightness from 1% to 10 and tell me if the colours stays the same?
I also have S20 Ultra and iPhone 11 Pro Max - their screens are just perfect (iPhone has much warmer screen, very pleasing to human eye), but I don't like iOS and Samsung has pure garbage Exynos CPU in EU.
Interested as well
Any kind soul to check as per OP request?

I've tried it. Miu12 xiaomi.eu latest stable. No issues, screen colors remain very consistent. Let me also note that this phone/rom combination has a really good auto-brightness implementation. I've had numerous phones, this is the first one i never need to manually fiddle with brightness.
My only complaint about this phone (or miui) is its out of the box aggressive memory handling. Need to tune many settings of apps to not miss notifications.

Thank you for checking!
In the meantime I also discovered a fix for my Oppo screen problems -
there is an option called 'low brightness flicker-free eye comfort' and after turning it on the screen is perfect.
It is basically the same thing as OnePlus did (PWM/DC patch), but this one actually works,
while on OnePlus it fixes one thing and brake two others.
Long story short I'll be staying with find x2 pro, because of 12GB DDR5, 512GB UFS3 and
well baked ROM with good RAM management.
Have a nice day.
PS. Auto-brightness is indeed bad on Oppo, Samsung and OnePlus and it's great only on iPhone.
Another thing I'm missing with Oppo is wireless charging, but I'm OK with those issues.
Hello,
I've been using Redmi Note 11 Pro plus for the past few days. I had been using a Samsung m30s before and compared to that the display experience in Redmi Note 11 Pro has been dull.
Last day I noticed something. I had tried using a completely black wallpaper and then I noticed how the black was not proper. Colour was leaching out through sides of display like a backlight bleed.
I had seen previous reports of a possible Redmi Note 11 Pro Display problem which made me do a display test on the phone. Then I noticed that this bleed like effect was present also for white as well as dark grey colors.
However these went away after I restarted my phone. So I wanted to know whether anyone else experienced this Redmi Note 11 Pro problem.
<Moderator Edit>: Self-promoting video link deleted.
This is a software issue that only occurs on MIUI. On custom roms this problem doesn't show up and the screen is completely black.
Probably a software issue, mine is noticeable when swiping the brightness while on the black screen test raging from 8 - 15% of brightness where I can see the bleeding
Hello I was planning on getting this phone (Redmi note 11 pro 5g) but after researching a bit I came across this thread. I heard this is an issue that affects both models. Is this an issue that affects only certain units or do most have amoled problems? Does this only show in 120hz mode? Thanks!

My device has no such problem. I generated a #00000000 image using an app and tried viewing it at max brightness in a dark room and the screen legit turns off. Its kinda freaky to see a display turn off when you know its on and expect some bleed. I come from lcd so thats what I expected. Needless to say I'm glad my model wasn't defective.

I have compared the Redmi Note 11 Pro Plus 5g (peux) with last years top model Redmi Note 10 Pro Max and this display seems to be more colorful and vibrant compared to last years model. That one seemed more washed out in the same display modes.

The issue is not present at 100% brightness. Try keeping the image, and play around with the brightness settings from 0 to 100. Then, you can notice that at certain percentages, the backlight bleeds quite heavily. In my device, it's at around 30-50. Some other users report that it's happening to them at 40-60.

hi does this affect daily usage? I tend to use my phone a lot at night in bed so it would suck if the bleeding is that bad. How noticeable is it when watching content with dark scenes/backgrounds?

On my day to day usage, I find that it's not noticeable at all. However, If you're watching content that has pure black elements, it is very noticeable. It's inconvenient, but usually when it happens I just turn down the brightness a little bit and it's gone.
I wouldn't say it's a deal breaker, I still think the phone is a pretty good value, but buyers beware. There's some hope that it'll be fixed in an update at some point but I wouldn't hold my breath. Just be aware that your mileage may vary.
Is this an issue that is present on 60 or 120hz? Saw a couple of posts on other threads that say issue disappears on 60hz. Is it the same on yours?

Guys, try this app called Oreo colorizer. This solves the issue.
It forces the display to shift its color space to DCI-P3 instead of the default sRGB according to the below XDA thread.
So the issue is software related. NOT HARDWARE. Hope Xiaomi solves this by updates in future.
