S7 Edge Oreo battery drain fix (exynos) - finally - Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Guides, News, & Discussion

Hi. I managed to fix oreo battery drain in my S7 Edge BTU. Solution is simple. There is new official firmware available for tw and hk (they are exynos as well) . Only needed thing to fix the drain issue is flash modem file from hk firmware (EREO).

Device stays official, knox not tripped, all samsung apps working, no need to mess up with files from nougat. Tested working, cell standby drain is gone. Before it was up to 30% in my phone, now after nearly 16h only 2%. Flash with odin 3.13 up, 3.12 doesn't recognize oreo lz4 files.

Hwo to fix on S7 flat?

I'll wait for someone to report as I'm running a custom rom right now.
But looks promising =)

Do you have 4g enabled?
Edit: just seen the 4g icon in two of your screenshots, sorry I missed that.

Okay. I found the BL and CP Files for S7 Flat. Cell Standby drian is fixed?. But now "Android System" drains extremly... how to fix that?

Where do you found the files for S7 flat?

I can confirm that the drain is also fixed in the newest version of this ROM:

I guess I need to be rooted to flash the firmware ?

For BL/Modem Updates u can use odin if you have no root. If you have root then you can download the lastest BL_CP zip for S7/S7edge and simply flash it via TWRP. i got Android System Drain fixed by flashing TGP Kernel and. I also use ForceDoze app. My todays SOT is actually 5h 50min and i still have 24%. Standby Drain: Nothing???I think Android System drain is a Kernel relates issue bc on TGP Kernel i have only 13% of Android System drain. On MoroKernel i had around 35%-50%?... but with TGP Kernel all is fine for me. Whats your Device mate? Then i can give you all links to files bc i safed them in my Browser?

you can't nor should use the tmobile update, it will brick your phone. if you don't have a ATT SIM to get it automatically you will have to do it all manually.
Beware the update break quite a couple things, including the battery life that gets all out of wack. I am still reading to check if it makes sense to update or to stay in a firmware that can be use as a daily driver with a good battery life.

I dont kniow what have you read but I have 2 weeks on 5.0.2 on my D800 and the battery is better, its true that the UI its a little bit in the laggy side but i have a lot of widges. The update its worthy, the things I miss from 4.4 are the wireless storage (accesible from the togle menu) and the album widget, everything else its ok for me
I update my D800 to 5.0.2 and I really love it.

I did the OTA (using AT&T sim) and hard reset a few times through recovery to ensure everything was clean to start with. Most things work great, but battery life has been strange. Last weekend it was around 80% charged and I put it down. Came back a few hours later and it was off because the battery died. This morning I took it off the charger after being on all night (showed 100%). Plugged it into my computer and it then showed 33%.
I also see odd things in the battery control panel showing estimated remaining battery life of 48 hours sometimes. If I were to guess I'd say it's an issue with battery calibration, but who knows. My suggestion is to stick to kitkat for now until a newer version of Lollipop is released for the G2. If you do go with the current OTA version of KK, a hard/factory reset is highly suggested.

You can try instaling (if you have not already done it) a battery calibration app, for me its not a hardware fault but a software one, hope you can resolve it!

Nthing, you can press the "thanks" button too!
Reviving an old thread but even I have the same requirement. I currently use an unlocked AT&T G2 on Lycamobile (Tmobile MVNO) and never get the Lollipop OTA. It always says the current version is already installed.
My question is, if I get an at&t SIM somehow (does it needs to be activated?), will the Lollipop update show up immediately? Are all the initial issues with Lollipop currently resolved? Is it better to stay off the Lollipop version?

[Completed] My Note 5 Extreme Battery Drain on Marshmallow and Can't Downgrade to Lollipop

I been having an awful battery life....my android OS is usually 30-50 when idle and android OS 100% when fully charged.
I didn't do anything with the phone for 3 hours and yet it drained 30% battery. I try downgrade back to lollipop but it turns out that the new software update restricted me from downgrading the software. The reasons are unknown to me. Having VoLTE on doesn't do much battery drain on my other xiome phone.
I disabled most bloatware using PRO DISABLER TOOL and disable location and location history. My display is set to 50% all day without turning on the auto brightness but still battery lost when idle.
When i try to downgrade to lollipop, odin failed and the error was hidden.img. I search for solution on the web. Using method of extracting and deleting the hidden.img before i flash again but still failed. I'm in a loop right now dealing with this software issue.
I'm using a Malaysia Carrier XME built. Galaxy Note 5 Duos (SM-N9208)
I really need help in :
1) can I downgrade back to lollipop and if can, HOW ?
2) if i can't downgrade back, can you guys help me in dealing my battery problem.
Thank for helping me and other people who has the same problem as me...TQ XDA

Greetings and welcome to assist. The error message from odin is because you are trying to install a firmware from a different carrier, the csc file is probably too big which means eithet use a fitmware with a pit file included or try and find a firmware for the carrier the phone was shipped with.
Too fix the battery drain I would first try wiping cache and davlik/art cache and if that didnt work factory reset. You could also install better battery stats and see what is causing the drain, why not create an account and ask here

Android os huge battery drain over night

I have a rooted s6 with custom recovery(TWRP) and custom rom(THE GRIFFIN) and my phone is draining really fast.
U can see in the picture that i attached below that at 1AM the phone was at 100% and i left it aside cz i went to sleep, i woke up at 7:40AM and the phone was at 53% and all the drain was because of ANDROID OS.
What should i do??
Try a clean flash of that ROM. (you will lose all data, so make a backup)
Also you can try Noble Nougat Experience... i'm experiencing 4,5h/5h screen on time & 3% battery drain over night.

Hmm, i dont know. You can ask in the telegram group.. (join it by clicking the link in the NNE post.)
I'm getting the same issue with stock nougat as well as noble nougat experience 3.0.
install wakelock detector or battery stats and check, what do not let your phone go into deep sleep

New update 52.0.A.3.202

Have you received it and any changelog? Battery seems much better to me now.
I received it also, no issues so far.
But how do you make any assumptions on battery life in case you just received it today?

Sometimes. I want to rollback to android 8 but I cant.
It's easy to rollback, just need flashtool and xperiFirm that is integranted into flashtool, CE1 (Central Europe) variant is on Oreo, so you can download that version and flash it. You will lose all you data, deleting everything assures that the instalation will be OK

I succeed with germany version of oreo. I found the ftf file from one of czech website and flashtool recognise that. Happy with this firmware now.
These updates are just monthly security, so I don't thing they would mess with battery life or performance of the phone whatsoever.
The actual build of Pie didn't change from the first one in November 2018, just security updates and thats all.
They didn't even bother to fix the sound issue, that is mostly common reported one.
Regarding WiFi problem, mine works without problems from the day 1 on Pie.

Thank you
It's so strange that the WiFi works fine on some phones and doesn't work at all on the rest. It can't be a hardware issue since the Wifi works fine on Oreo.

Is there a way to preserve appdata without rooting the device?
P.S.
To anyone who is rooted, is the there a rooted build available for this yet?

Question Can I go back to stock rom?

Right now I'm on A.07 Global and there is this weird idle drain even after debloating. People that updated to A.09 still have this issue. I'm wondering if there is a way to go back to stock rom for GT Neo 2 which is A.03.
I remember using it for a few month and idle drain issue isn't there at all and the best part I didn't even debloat it. I have downloaded the file from realmefirmware but it seems that for this phone in particular, the phone cannot detect ofp files when in recovery mode.
So I'm wondering if there is another way to do this.

I stayed on a.03 for over a month and it is way better than a.06 or current a.07 for global.
