Android Authority: Edge Sense Plus makes the HTC U11 a shortcut machine
XDA-Developers: Edge Sense Plus for HTC U11 Quick Look: Get More Out of Every Squeeze
What is Edge Sense Plus?
You should already be familiar what Edge Sense is. By squeezing your device, it lets you perform some minor actions.
Edge Sense Plus extends those actions and adds some more features for you.
How does Edge Sense Plus work?
It is a simple app you install from playstore, linked at the bottom.
To get it working, you enable Advanced Mode'in the native Edge Sense Settings and select "Launch App" as custom action for both short and long squeeze
and pick the appropriate Edge Sense Plus Activity.
When the app starts the first time you'll get those instructions step by step again.
What can it do?
Custom actions:
Currently you can choose from 27 different actions

Per app actions:
With the per app action, you can define different squeeze actions per app. So the chosen action will be executed dependent in what app you are currently are.
Double Squeeze: (Premium)
If you often accidentally trigger a short squeeze, that won't happen anymore if you map your desired action to the double squeeze gesture.
You can define a double squeeze interval, to ensure you are quick enough to trigger it every time.
G-Sensor usage:
If enabled, will be able to execute different actions depending on the current position of your device, whether it is flat or upright in your hand.
That way you can have six different squeeze gestures: short, long, doublepress in flat or upright device position.
Magisk system mod:
The magisk system mod replaces the native Edge Sense app and allows customizations on lowest level. That makes it possible to:
Execute actions while the screen is off/locked
Have pocket detection (disables edge sense when the proximity sensor is blocked)
Customize the colors of the feedback graphics
Media control:
The media control will override your set squeeze actions while media is playing so you can control your media.
That includes play/pause, increase/decrease volume and skip to next and previous track.
Squeeze sounds:
Ever thought it would be funny if a squeeze of your U11 would make a sound, if it is a *click*, *oink* or whatever you think of?
You can use any .mp3 file to make that happen!
Sidebar:
Remember that image?
We have that for real! Our Sidebar has three different panels, Applications, Recent Apps (Premium), Quicksettings (Premium).
You will also be able to customize the panel color to any color you like.

Version 1.7.0
Magisk System Mod support for HTC U12+
Fixed double squeeze for screen off not working under certain configuration
Nice.
have to use the same actions in display on and display off that it worked in display off.
sometimes after that I squeezed and then unlock the action is on.
torch will not work in display on and then squeeze, but if I do it in display off it worked and if then torch off again and unlock over fingerprint torch is on again at display on?
Sidebar will not show up.

But nice app. :good:
will you integrate the onefinger double tab feature in edge sense also or will it be a premium feature?

I purchased the app, correctly configured HTC Edge Sense(HES) to Short/Long squeezes of Edge Sense Plus(ESP). However, HES isn't picking up ESP's customization. And... it just crashed... Just sent a "feedback"

Anyway, installed the new version, but still not working. I get a "Not Installed" when I squeeze now. Tapping the individual shortcuts that were created gives me the same "Not Installed" alert.

HTC Edge Launcher is unfortunately just available on custom roms that have signature verification disabled.
HTC secured the Edge Launcher in a way that just system apps with the HTC plattform keys signed apps can start it.
As an alternative you could use: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.thsoft.shortcut.htc

Some quick feedback:
1) I swipe the trigger to exit full screen, no problem. But the trigger doesn't let me enter full screen mode. It would be useful to have the trigger toggle between the last full screen mode and normal mode. I did program a Gesture Control gesture to toggle Immersive, so maybe that's a good enough workaround.
2) I'm able to use the keyboard if it was already open before I entered full screen mode. I can't dismiss the keyboard due to the back button limitation, but the keyboard does work. Also, DocsToGo's context menu has a "Toggle Keyboard" item, so I'm able to open and close and use the keyboard in that app. But I'm unable to change the cursor position in a document while in full screen mode.
3) Not being able to use the back button or execute a "back" gesture in Gesture Control when in immersive mode is really annoying. You also can't use the menu button. But I think enabling the "back" function is the #1 feature I'd like to have.
4) I can't open the notifications when in immersive mode. If I execute my Gesture Control gesture to open notifications, nothing happens, and when I exit immersive mode, the notifications are already opened. Force Immersive Mode has the same limitation, and the dev hasn't been able to solve it.

You have to swipe trigger downwards. You cannot touch above trigger. You have to touch exactly on trigger (or some 1 mm above) red line. Just do light touch an swipe. You can increase trigger sensitivity in settings to you comfort level. It actually works quite well when you get used to where to touch. There is also TOUCH mode (instead of SWIPE) available in settings.
Trigger allows you to toggle last fullscreen mode on/off. Thats the idea.
2,3,4 - cant fix in app but I will look if I can find some workaround with root in Gesture Control.

TOUCH mode works great toggling in either direction, even with sensitivity reduced to 3. It has nice feel, and you've done a great job providing just the right customizations for the trigger location and appearance.
For SWIPE mode, I swipe up to exit immersive, no problem. But when I swipe down to enter immersive, it never works no matter what setting I try. I think I do like TOUCH better, and now that TOUCH works, I don't need the GC gesture. But I'm just letting you know that SWIPE isn't working properly on my S4.
By the way, the home button also doesn't work in immersive mode. But I have "home" programmed to a GC gesture, and it works. So I'm hoping the "back" function can be made to work with a GC gesture.

I've installed Pro, rebooted, and am testing with XPrivacy turned off.
1) As with the experimental version, you can't use the BACK button or a GC BACK gesture while immersed. We really need a workaround for the BACK function to make this app useful.
2) It FC's every time I tried to change Auto Hide Delay, Trigger Width, Trigger Position, or Trigger Sensitivity. These didn't have a problem in the first experimental version. Then, when I unchecked "Show in Fullscreen (PRO)," it allowed me to change those settings. I'm actually not sure what "Show in Fullscreen" does, so I rechecked it after adjusting the other settings.
3) If I switch to an un-immersed app, then when I leave that app I'm still not immersed and the trigger bar does not appear and I have to re-immerse via the notifications. Sometimes, though, this problem doesn't happen and it un-immerses/re-immerses correctly.
4) I'm able to use the keyboard while immersed by opening the keyboard before immersing. But then you have to un-immerse to dismiss the keyboard due to not having a BACK function.
Thank you so much for trying it.

The idea was that apps that do not have saved setting do not change it automatically so if you left unimmersed app then this is not changed unless you have saved setting for the next app.
Unimermsed mode basically turns everything off and removes trigger so yes you have to use notification again. If you want to have trigger then you should show navigation bar with trigger instead. You can turn off Autohide but it is global. Do you think it is needed to have per app option to turn on/off autohide for app?

You can call keyboard when navigation bar is visible (even if you triggered it with trigger). Once visible it will work even if navbar hides. Just swipe the trigger then click input box.

I'm actually not sure what you mean by, " If you want to have trigger then you should show navigation bar with trigger instead." I made a setting for each app individually instead of just leaving them blank, and that gives the behavior I expect. But per app is a pro feature, so not everyone will be able to do this.
Not working for my Samsung Galaxy s5 G900F running Android 4.4.2 Kitkat(Samsung stock)?

Would it make sense if I restore previous mode when leaving application that had saved setting?
So it would work like this:
1. App A does not have saved setting but you switch to immersive manually
2. Open app B. I has save regular mode, so immersive is turned off.
3. Leave app B, last immersive mode is restored.
However if you change mode manually while in B then this mode will stick and won't change when leaving B?

Actually, I don't think it matters to me. By making a setting for every single app, I take full and unambiguous control. Then the per app page shows me at a glance how I've set everything. I actually prefer that to leaving apps unset and relying on some default behavior. The non-pro users will certainly care about how you set the default behavior, but the pro users don't have to care if they don't want to.

Congrats on getting featured on XDA.
You're one great guy. I remember writing to you a few months back with regards to some slowdown when I was using GMD Gesture Control and you replied fast and with many details
There's a issue I'd like to report. When you're in immersive mode, you can't really tap on any system lines.
For example, if you go into immersive mode while being in the GMD Full Screen Immersive Mode app, you can't go into general, trigger etc - why is that?
Does this basically make my mod useless hahaha
No root ? How to Disable certain apps and enable features usually found with many root devices..
Disable Storage Checker
Via adb (nag when under 25% storage left, this disables that nag)
Code:
adb shell pm hide com.sonymobile.storagechecker
Disable Whats New
Code:
adb shell pm hide com.sonymobile.entrance
Other apps I disable, these can be disabled via the App Manager in system settings
File Commander (ES Explorer is much better imho)
Playstation Video
Xperia Japanese Keyboard
Xperia Chinese Keyboard
Xperia Lounge
Xperia Lounge Pass
Sony Sketch (this app can be fully un-installed, rather than disabled)
Have more suggestions ?.. I will add them to the list...
Enable Immersive mode
Download All in one gestures from the Google Play Store.. Enable All in one gestures in Accessibility settings and assign soft key (i use back) to Toggle Immersive full screen mode, there is a whitelist as certain apps function better with the NAV bar enabled, these are;

Code:
adb shell pm grant com.phoenixstudios.aiogestures android.permission.WRITE_SECURE_SETTINGS; pm grant com.phoenixstudios.aiogestures android.permission.SET_ANIMATION_SCALE
Screen off by double tapping Status bar
This option can be enablled in All in one Gestures, under the Status Bar heading... Tip set lock sound to none if system wide screen lock sound is set..
Audio Profiles via Status Bar
Download Audio Profiles from the Google play Store. Launch app and Enable Audio Profiles in Accessibility settings when prompted
Back in the App, define the profiles you require. I have Normal, Calls Only, Silent, Vibrate, Headphones.
Disable any notification preference in settings and Enable close Main Screen on Profile selection

I didn't know about Adguard and am very glad you mentionned it as ad blocking was the main reason I wanted root (I used to use MOAAB) ! I bought a year license. It's a false positive for the battery use, from what I understand it's taking it from where it would usually appear without it from elsewhere. Same scenario as Adguard..
I'm not having issues with the ram side of things
Re Adguard.. If peeps can afford the subscription, it's well worth it. Seems to be by far the best around. 7 day trial out of the box..
The did a Black Friday deal recently.. 50% off..

Moto G4 and Moto G4 Plus - Android™ 7.0 Nougat Release Notes
INTRODUCTION
We are excited to announce a new software update for Moto G4 and Moto G4 Plus by Motorola. This update brings Android™ 7.0 Nougat to your phone along with other improvements.
For more information on Motorola updates and repairs, visit us at www.motorola.com/motog.
NOTE: You cannot downgrade to a previous software version after installing this update.
ENHANCEMENTS
Android™ 7.0 Nougat improves your mobile experience with new multitasking features, more efficient notification controls and improved data saver and battery features.
After installing the software update you may notice changes that include:
Productivity
Quick switch between apps: Multitasking in your phone just got even easier. Double tap the overview/recent apps button to switch between your two most recently used apps.
Multi-window view: Android Nougat supports multi-window view, so you can run two apps side by side in your screen. For example, reply a text message while watching a video, or browse the internet during a video call. Activate multi-window view by long-pressing the overview/recent apps button while in a compatible app. Important: the developer of the app needs to enable multi-window view.
Work mode: For Android for Work users, Android Nougat comes with a new work mode toggle, which allows you to conveniently turn on and off your device's work apps and related notifications for a better work-life balance.
Performance
Data saver: Data saver helps reduce cellular data usage. When Data saver is on, apps running in the background won't be able to access cellular data. An app you're currently using can access data, but may do so less frequently. You can also choose which apps have unrestricted cellular data access. To turn Data saver on, open Settings from the app tray and go to "Data usage", then tap on "Data saver". To adjust data access for individual apps, got to "Unrestricted data access".
Doze on the Go: Android Nougat comes with an improved Doze mode. Now your device goes into lower power usage when you are not using it and the screen is off, even if you're on the move.
JIT compiler: The new JIT compiler improves runtime device performance, helps reduce the amount of storage space required for apps, and helps make app and system updates much faster.
Stability improvements: Includes changes that address bugs and help improve the stability of your phone.
Notifications
Notification direct reply: Android Nougat lets you quickly reply to messages right from the notifications. When you receive a message, swipe the status bar down and tap "Reply" on the message notification. Then type and send your response, all without opening the app. Works on compatible applications.
Bundled notifications: Get more information at a glance! In Android Nougat, multiple notifications from the same app are bundled together into a single notification group. Drag the status bar down and tap the group to expand it and see or take action on individual notifications.
Notification controls: You now have more control over notifications. Just press and hold on a notification to toggle the settings. You can silence or block future alerts from an app in the notification itself.
Usability
Custom quick settings: Android Nougat lets you rearrange the quick setting tiles, so you can find your commonly used settings faster. Just swipe the status bar down with two fingers, then tap "Edit" at the bottom of the quick settings panel.
Quick settings bar: A new settings bar was added at the top of the notification shade, so you can conveniently access your quick settings when reading your alerts.
Improved settings navigation: Find the right setting faster with an updated navigation menu in Settings.
Settings suggestions: Android Nougat gives you meaningful suggestions for how to get more out of your device. Find them at the top of the Settings menu.
Lock screen wallpaper: You can now have different wallpapers on your phone's homescreen and lockscreen. To set the wallpapers, long-press on an empty space in your home screen, then tap "Wallpapers". Once you select an image, tap "Set wallpaper" at the top of the screen, you will be prompt to set the selected wallpaper for the home screen, lock screen or both.
Improved system backup coverage: Android backup covers more device settings in Android Nougat, including accessibility settings, run-time permissions for apps, Wi-Fi hotspot settings and Wi-Fi network restrictions.
New and updated emoji: Do you speak fluent Emoji? Bring your words to life with all-new emoji, including redesigned human emoji with multiple skin tones.
Emergency information: Emergency Information lets you add information such as name, blood type, allergies, and an emergency contact so that emergency responders can view this information through your device's lock screen. To add or edit emergency information, open Settings from the app tray, scroll down to "Users", then tap on "Emergency information".
Accessibility
Accessibility settings in initial setup: Now you can configure accessibility features for your phone during the setup tutorial. Set magnification gesture, font size, display size, and TalkBack right out of the box.
Accessibility mono output: Assists users with hearing loss in one ear by combining stereo left and right channel output to a single mono stream. To turn Mono audio on, open Settings from the app tray, then go to "Accessibility" and scroll down until you find the "Mono audio" switch.
Variable text to speech: Allows setting a wider range for speech speed and pitches. Open Settings from the app tray, then go to "Accessibility" and scroll down to "Text-to-speech output". Use the sliders to adjust the speech rate and pitch.
Size of display elements: In Android Nougat not only can you change the font size, but also the size of the display elements, like icons and images. To adjust the size of your display elements, open Settings from the app tray and tap "Display", then scroll down and select "Display size".
Authentication
Trusted face improvements: Unlocking your phone with Trusted face is easier than ever. Trusted face, a part of Smart Lock, has new facial recognition, which is less sensitive to conditions like lighting, facial decorations and how you hold your phone.
Call screening: Allows the default phone app to screen/block incoming calls.
Internationalization
Multi locale language support and preferences: Now you can add multiple languages in your device settings to customize experiences for you, like showing search results in multiple languages and not offering to translate webpages in a language you already know. You can even sort your language preferences so that apps can pick the right keyboard & text for you.
Locales by language: We added the option to select locales for commonly used languages. When you add a new language, you will be prompted to select the locale (if supported for the selected language).
Moto experiences
New Moto action: We added a new Moto action to your phone: Swipe to shrink the screen. To learn more about this action, open the Moto app from the app tray, then go to "Actions" and tap "Swipe to shrink the screen".
Fingerprint sensor for screen lock (Moto G Plus only): We added a new setting to disable and enable locking the screen when the screen is on and you touch the fingerprint sensor. To access this setting, open Settings from the app tray, scroll down to "Security", then tap on the screen lock gear icon.
INSTRUCTIONS
For a successful installation, we recommend installing this update when the battery in your phone is at least 50% charged and you are connected to a Wi-Fi network.

Why not skip 7.0 and go straight to 7.1 instead cool features with this one like Smart Storage or App Shortcuts in Google Now Launcher.

Hmm., sounds pretty typical to me. Hoping for a MFN invite, but as you know, their opt-in options are strangely missing. I should be opted in already, but it's still odd.
According to their history, we'll get nougat in Jan.
Possibly 7.1
now available for G4, our turn will be after Z play gets it Q1 2017
Anyone know if there is a plugin created that will be able to toggle AOD? I want more control over when AOD runs than just a certain timeframe.
Secure Settings does this and works well. I use it to turn AOD off when I'm wireless charging and turn it back on when I take the phone off the charger.

Create a new task, choose Plugins, then Secure Settings. Tap the pencil icon and choose Actions, then Device Settings. Set Setting to "aod_mode". It's about half way down the list.
Set it to 1 for on and 0 for off.

Thanks a bunch. This will help me to utilize this feature of the phone when I actually want it on.
Yea, I used this on my S7E, and use it on my S8+. I use it to turn off AOD when I go to bed and plug in my charger. Triggered by AC source + Airplane mode (which I put my phone into every night when I go to bed).
I also turn off the charging LED as it's a bright little bugger too! You can do that using this app/Tasker plugin: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=70045373#post70045373

I've tried setting it up in Tasker with Secure settings and it just doesn't turn on AOD.
Does it make a difference if my S8+ is the Snapdragon version?

No, it doesn't. I am also using the Snapdragon version.
It works fine for me so I don't know what the problem might be. Have you tried manually running the task to turn it on and then locking your phone to see if the AOD comes on? If so, then the issue is with the profile and not the task.
If you can't get the task itself working, then something is wrong with the setup. Make sure both Tasker and Secure Settings are set as Device Administrators.

In Tasker, go to the Tasks tab, tap on the AOD On task you created, then tap the play button in the bottom left corner of the screen. That will initiate the task itself.
Do this with your AOD on and off tasks to see if they are working individually.

So I just tried what you said, this is what I did:
Went to the Task tab, tapped on AOD, tapped on play at the bottom of the screen (a green dot appeared), I then turned off the screen and AOD didn't turn on.
In the Samsung settings, I'm assuming that AOD should be off?
Hey Guys,
Can someone tell me what the right path is to create a shortcut to slide open the edge screen using tasker or secure settings. I know how to create a shortcut but cannot find the app to open it.
Thanks in advance

The Tasker/Secure Settings task will change the toggle in the phone's settings menu if it works properly.
I'm not sure what else could be preventing yours from working.

Cool, just what I wanted - to turn off AOD during night Thanx!
Tried it with macro droid where you can run tasker addons too.... But the AOD doesn't get turned on or off....other system settings like preventing private messages on lockscreen under certain conditions worked.
Power Shade
Bring the AOSP Notification Shade to any device.
But with lots of customization on top. Features not seen even in Custom ROMs.

Power Shade is the most advanced notifications panel customizer. It provides you the options to make your quick settings the way you want. Designed to seamlessly change themes to enlighten your mood and brighten your day. You get the latest modern features on any Android device.
It even has the Media player from Android 11 and it supports all music player apps.
Let me know about your experience below.
Gave it a try and liked it a lot. But one thing stops me from buying and keep using it: on my Samsung Galaxy S9 it uses only half of the screen hight when pulling down. Intended or a bug?
Love the app and bought it right away after testing it for a couple of hour.
I love how I can reply messages frombthe lockscreen without unlocking the phone.
Now, is it possible to make it not going to home screen everytime opening the shade from inside and app?
I'm using note 10+ with one ui 2.1. Everything else is working fine.

Hi. Are you using an Edge Trigger? If so, try to swipe downwards on it, instead of left/ right.

Nope, i'm using one hand operation+ from samsung for back gesture and opening the shade. It can open the shade no problem, no glitch, but everytime the shade open, the app i'm currently on was stopped and goes to home screen. The shade is still open, only the app behind it gets closed and goes to home screen.
Update:
Tried your suggestion to use edge trigger, it works. It can open the shade without closing the app underneath it.
So I guess I have to adjusting edge trigger and one hand operation+ for now.
Looks Great! Real smooth and Beautiful
One problem though, on my Mi note 10 (A10)
When I click on any notification to enter it - nothing happens.
Any idea why? I think I gave it all the permissions asked.

Incredible app, purchased it. Although 1 issue I have is when I swipe down on home screen to pull down, it pulls down the stock one, not power shade, is it possible to change this and I've just missed the option some where?,
I am receiving system notification on lock screen. Are there any custom notification for the lock screen as well?

There is an option to always overlay the stock one in Extras>Override system panel.
On my samsung note 10+ with one ui 2.1 it's working without turning on the override system panel after restarting the phone.

On the stock one it isn't.

Still nothing. The problem is with EVERY app's notifation. it just doesn't open it from power shade
Did I miss some permission ?
Any ideas? I'm using Gboard and in notifications when I reply to a Whatsapp message, one press of space bar makes two spaces.
When I use a tile from a third party app, it doesn't change status in the settings display, though it does actually do the action of on/off (just remains never illuminated). And on my phone (sony) there is a weird bug, which is that if you use the shade to switch between light and dark, the navbar buttons may not change color properly. Everything works fine with stock or changing in settings.
Great App! I like it since my phone's manufacturer doesn't bother to implement accent color. This app give me a chance to customize my quick settings tiles. One issue is that even I have enabled Override system panel, the swipe down gesture from my stock launcher is not perfectly overrided. I am using ASUS ROG Phone II with stock launcher.
Another problem is that if I enable Brightness slider in header, it no longer shows when expanded the notifications. Can't I have it in both situations?

Yes, you need to grant that permission to the app which you want to open from notifications, not only to Power Shade.
