Help, discord app messes with audio quality - General Questions and Answers

Phone: Huawei P20 Pro
Android: Oreo 8.1
EMUI: 8.1
Peripheral: Sony headphones/speaker/Bluetooth headset.
Issue: discord app turns media quality to ****.
So the issue is when I join a discord server or private call, my audio from any media source (Netflix Spotify YouTube) goes to ****. It's low, it cuts in an out almost as if someone is turning the volume knob up and down on either my mic input or other people's yet not consistently so I am not sure if that is why. Not to mention the calls them self sound like crap (other people's voices).
I've tried listening to media while in my phone's regular calls and it sounds perfectly clear with no distortion.
The funny thing is if I were in a discord call, then make a real phone call. Discord takes a MAJOR jump in audio quality along with all media sources. So for example if I'm watching Netflix while in a discord call while also on a phone call dialed into my voice box for example. Everything works perfectly, MINUS ONE detail; my mics priority is then forced to my cellphone call.
I've had a Sony Xperia Z2 on Android 5 and I never ran into this issue before. I even could make phone calls on my cellphone while in a discord and never lost mic usage for either. They both had access to my mic. Lookin online I see other phones with similar issues. They all seem relatively new phones too. Is this an android issue or select phone issues. any fixes? Or am I doomed to calling my inbox if I'm watching something and then hanging up cause I wanna say something.

Sound/Calling not working !

Guys I encountered a strange problem on my phone.
The sound output has completely stopped working, i.e, the speaker doesn't play any kind of sound now (no songs, no notification sounds, no ringtones, absolutely NOTHING!).
Also, when I make a call, I'm unable to hear the dial tone. And I am not able to even listen to the other person's voice during call.
It was fine in the morning today, until I connected my phone to a speaker to play a song. After that the sound stopped working. Has it got to do anything with the fact that I connected to the speakers? Because when my friends connected their phones to the same speaker, they encountered no problems whatsoever.
P.S : Whenever I play a song, or any audio in my phone now, i get a small "hsss" sound near the speaker. I get a similar sound when I call anyone.
Someone PLEASE solve this problem for me ! I need to answer calls and it's a very big problem for me if I can't get it fixed soon

Disable mic of bluetooth headset in Oreo?

Hey XDA,
my question is related to the mics of bluetooth headsets.
Is it possible to disable them and use the one of the phone instead ? (The audio quality gets bad when calling with the bluetooth mic, I mean it should be better when disabling it).
SoundAbout doesn't work (incompatibility with Oreo ig) and other Apps don't have what i need.
Same goes to wired headphones with inline mics (since the one i use is crackling).
I'm thankful for any tries or hints on how I could make it work.
Have a nice day!:good:
Phone: LeMax2
Rom: RR 6.0.0 - Oreo 8.1.0
same problem here. I cannot find the solution.
This is just what I've been looking for.
This is how I think it goes: there's different channels where sounds goes, one is what you use for almost all media, (another one is that is used when you enable media player to play along with others or play games (not sure)), and one that where calls are. "Call mode" is what makes sound crappy and I think that microphone is related crappy sound too, because it needs more Bluetooth bandwidth to transfer mic and audio data at the same time. Reasoning behind those different channels is because I have screenrecorder which can record system sounds too, but it cannot record when phone uses Bluetooth earphones mic(when it is in "call mode"). And there's more why I think it is so: I always get notification that I'm in call even if I play pubg with microphone access enabled but don't use microphone or use live video platforms like Microsoft teams or Google meet. Also sound control is same as in normal voice call: can't really mute sound fully and if Bluetooth disconnects, it plays audio from phones speaker when in normal media player it pauses it or continues playing sound in same level as last used volume level on phone speaker.
I'm currently looking way to make audio of those "calls" go as media audio and make it use mic from phone. And also making discord channel for Android users to discuss about things like these and find useful features to make use of android much easier.
Correct if I'm wrong about anything stated earlier..
And if you have any tips where I could find more specific info on this.
I found way to make it use phones mic and thus making sound quality better
I used this "mic speaker" from play store. Unfortunately I don't yet have access to post links.
Edit: sorry, wrong call. Something happened in sound quality, but it's still crappy compared to wired earphones

No audio output - only on standard phone calls

Hello all,
I have a very weird issue on my Mi4. There is no audio output from any app (Media player, Whats-app, Skype, Youtube, etc. )regardless if it's the phone's speaker or if there are headphones. There is simply no audio. But here is the crazy thing - the microphone works so i can send audio messages on whatsapp for example or record my voice but can't hear them back. Also the only audio output i get both from the loudspeaker and headset is from a standard phonecall. Anything else is simply mute. No sound at all.
I've tried scouring the internet for a problem like this but haven't found anything. I've tried a lot of things short of reflashing the rom. But if someone can come up with a better solution i'd be more than happy to try it.
Thanks
Update: I flashed another ROM and the problem persists.

Bluetooth Headset Mic Does not work

Hello
I am using Sony WI - XB 400 bluetooth earphones. While it connects fine and I watch movies, listen to music etc. The microphone of the device does not work with third party applications like voice recorder, discord, etc.
If I make a call and keep the phone in my pocket the mic of the bluetooth device works fine. However if I simply open up a voice recorder and keep the phone far away, so as to force it to use the bluetooth mic, no voice is recorded. The same goes while I try to test micrphone in discord settings. It detects nothing if I speak on the bluetooth mic/ tap on it, but if I tap on the phone's inbuild mic or talk into it I can see the mic working.
Anyone faced such issues?
I'm using the huawei freebuds 3 and apple airpods daily with my nord. The microphone works fine for me, people hear/understand what I say. Could it be that your microphone permissions need access? Check that out before you proceed.
But you talk about recording, are you using some kind of call recording software? If so I can tell you this is not possible without root. I have searched and tested several apps but recording quality is verry bad in such a way it's useless. I have not rooted my phone yet, so I cannot say anything about how it works when rooted.

Samsung A51 bad audio quality in other apps when on Zoom call / VoIP call

I recently got my hand on an A51 and everything looks nice so far, except for the audio when on call. It looks like whenever I'm on VoIP internet call, on every app: Zoom, Skype, Discord... , and I play a music video in chrome app, the music audio sounds awful, it feels like the audio is using the same VoIP channel instead of a separate sound channel. Whereas with my old A7 (2017) Samsung, music audio can be played clearly whenever I'm on call, it's like for the old A7 there are 2 separate sound channels for calling and for nornal app, I'm using a wired headphones so there shouldn't be an issue with sound
I've been looking at way to fix this, went to multiple support forums and tried things like adding app to separate sound channel, adding it to game launcher, nothing seems to work, does anyone have the same issue ? is it an issue that can be fixed and how can I resolve this ?
