Bluetooth Headset Mic Does not work - OnePlus Nord Questions & Answers

Hello
I am using Sony WI - XB 400 bluetooth earphones. While it connects fine and I watch movies, listen to music etc. The microphone of the device does not work with third party applications like voice recorder, discord, etc.
If I make a call and keep the phone in my pocket the mic of the bluetooth device works fine. However if I simply open up a voice recorder and keep the phone far away, so as to force it to use the bluetooth mic, no voice is recorded. The same goes while I try to test micrphone in discord settings. It detects nothing if I speak on the bluetooth mic/ tap on it, but if I tap on the phone's inbuild mic or talk into it I can see the mic working.
Anyone faced such issues?

I'm using the huawei freebuds 3 and apple airpods daily with my nord. The microphone works fine for me, people hear/understand what I say. Could it be that your microphone permissions need access? Check that out before you proceed.
But you talk about recording, are you using some kind of call recording software? If so I can tell you this is not possible without root. I have searched and tested several apps but recording quality is verry bad in such a way it's useless. I have not rooted my phone yet, so I cannot say anything about how it works when rooted.

Record Bluetooth Headset conversation, Help please.

I want to record my phone conversations when I am using my Bluetooth headset (Because I drive alot).
At the moment it is not possible to record a conversation while using the Bluetooth headset. (I don't want to use a cable headset, because I get in and out the car alot).
The problem that occurs is that when recording with windows mobile it records your own voice, but not the voice on the other side.
I have tried with many other PocketPC's but I can't find anything that works.
Try it yourself if you don't understand whta I mean.
Does anybody have a solution for me?
Thx!
Possibly the problem is that when the headset is enabled the speaker of the phone is disabled.
So if somehow the speaker keeps working even when bluetooth headset is enabled it will record the conversation on the other side.

Skype won't use bluetooth headphone microphone

I find that Skype uses the tablet's microphone even when a bluetooth headset is paired and audio is coming out of the headset speakers. Googling it , this seems to be a longstanding Skype bug. Has anyone found a way to get Skype to use the bluetooth headphone mic?
Thanks
Android needs to enable bluetooth mike system wide, just like in other OS.
There are other apps that can use this, not only skype.
Some of them are web based, like making calls with bobsled.

It's not an Android problem, per se. I use a Motorola stereo bluetooth headset that can be used for phone calls too with my Android phone with no problems on cell phone calls and Sipdroid (for VOIP). I would suspect Skype still has bugs with bluetooth, which is a fairly recent addition to their Android software. OP, the Skype forums might be your best avenue for help. There are numerous users in the Skype forum reporting problems with bluetooth using Skype.

What I am trying to say is that, just like when you plug in the wired headset the sound is rerouted to the headset's earphones (disabling the device's speakers) and the microphone input is rerouted to the headset's mike (disabling the device's mike), the same should occur when the device pairs with a BT headset.
This is what happens when I pair my win xp pc to a BT headset. This way, the audio I/O change is system wide, and can be used by all apps.
Furthermore, additional settings in the device's settings screen could allow the user more control, like simultaneous use of the device's speakers and the BT earphone, (say you want to let a person next to you listen in to your conversation).
P.S. I wonder what the right place is to submit this to Android development...

Bluetooth Audio and Mic

The G3 seems to use the phone mic, not the Bluetooth headset mic for all audio input. I don't recall having this issue with my S5. I know this used to be a huge android issue but I though they had this worked out. The issue is that when I hit the button on my Bluetooth headset to place a call or whatever, the G3 switches to the phone mic for input. The problem is that if your phone is in your pocket, it can't hear you. Can anyone confirm this? Does anyone know of a solution?
After trying just about every voice recognition and control app on the play store I think I can say with certainty that the only app that, on the G3, is able to use the microphone on a Bluetooth headset for input is the Google app. Unfortunately this is not the Google Now app, it's the older Google app which is limited to phone only calls via voice command and requires umpteen confirmations before your call is placed. I'm pretty sure this is an android limitation at this point and is in no way confined to the G3 alone. sigh...
Would this be a function of the make/model of Bluetooth device in any way?
I use google now, dialer pad, voice dial, etc. through my Plantronics earpieces (carry 3 for work, on phone a lot) with the g3 in my pocket, and I have no issues w/BT mic.
I use an LG tone Pro headset as well as the Sync function in my Ford Explorer and both work just fine when connected via BT. Also, I can use voice commands thru my LG G Watch, so I think you may have an issue related to your phone.
What have you "done" to it? Rooted? Xposed MODs? Etc..?

Wierd Bluetooth issue: device is paired, but mic not recognized

I have a good BT headset, am using Android with stock Android 7.0. Audio plays fine through the BT headset but for some reason the mic function is not properly recognized. I tested with Easy Voice Recorder. When I switch to record to with BT in that app, it says it can't recognize BT device. But it is clearly recording through BT (I left the phone in one room, and went to another room and whispered into my BT and it recorded it fine).
Any ideas what's going on here? I can live with this functionality in this app, but I use another app called TextNow (for VOIP calling) and it also doesn't recognize the BT and there's no workaround there.
Phone: Moto G5
Stock OS: Android 7.0
BT headset: LG HBS-A100 Active Plus
I've noticed this behavior on other phones as well. Could it be something to do with the headset? I don't really know where to start with troubleshooting.

Disable mic of bluetooth headset in Oreo?

Hey XDA,
my question is related to the mics of bluetooth headsets.
Is it possible to disable them and use the one of the phone instead ? (The audio quality gets bad when calling with the bluetooth mic, I mean it should be better when disabling it).
SoundAbout doesn't work (incompatibility with Oreo ig) and other Apps don't have what i need.
Same goes to wired headphones with inline mics (since the one i use is crackling).
I'm thankful for any tries or hints on how I could make it work.
Have a nice day!:good:
Phone: LeMax2
Rom: RR 6.0.0 - Oreo 8.1.0
same problem here. I cannot find the solution.
This is just what I've been looking for.
This is how I think it goes: there's different channels where sounds goes, one is what you use for almost all media, (another one is that is used when you enable media player to play along with others or play games (not sure)), and one that where calls are. "Call mode" is what makes sound crappy and I think that microphone is related crappy sound too, because it needs more Bluetooth bandwidth to transfer mic and audio data at the same time. Reasoning behind those different channels is because I have screenrecorder which can record system sounds too, but it cannot record when phone uses Bluetooth earphones mic(when it is in "call mode"). And there's more why I think it is so: I always get notification that I'm in call even if I play pubg with microphone access enabled but don't use microphone or use live video platforms like Microsoft teams or Google meet. Also sound control is same as in normal voice call: can't really mute sound fully and if Bluetooth disconnects, it plays audio from phones speaker when in normal media player it pauses it or continues playing sound in same level as last used volume level on phone speaker.
I'm currently looking way to make audio of those "calls" go as media audio and make it use mic from phone. And also making discord channel for Android users to discuss about things like these and find useful features to make use of android much easier.
Correct if I'm wrong about anything stated earlier..
And if you have any tips where I could find more specific info on this.
I found way to make it use phones mic and thus making sound quality better
I used this "mic speaker" from play store. Unfortunately I don't yet have access to post links.
Edit: sorry, wrong call. Something happened in sound quality, but it's still crappy compared to wired earphones
