Yesterday my Verizon Galaxy S6 was lagging so I tried restarting it...
When it tried to boot the Android screen loaded as usual, but thats it. It never made it to the Verizon screen and the screen stayed black with the blue light on at the top right of the device. No matter what I tried (safe mode, cache wipe, factory reset..) the device wouldn't come back. I'm able to access the menus via [pwr + home + volume] but after resetting or rebooting the device goes back to android screen then black with blue light.
I stopped by BestBuy today and spoke to the Samsung rep who said it just needed a hard reset with a binary code update... I thought he was going to do the same factory reset method I used but instead he loaded a backup os off his laptop. This didnt work either and the device is still stuck unable to boot except now the android screen says custom with a unlocked padlock icon. The Samsung rep said he's never seen a device do this and advised me to either call 1800SAMSUNG or travel 2 hours to Atlanta to the Samsung service center.
I can't seem to find anything online that's similar to this problem and I'd rather not send my device off for repair or travel.
Even more so I'm worried the Samsung rep made the problem look like a root attempt gone bad.
Can anyone recommended any troubleshooting tips or steps to get my device back? It's a 64Gb Verizon S6 with the most recent android update and its never been rooted... Any guidance would be greatly appreciated!!

Check if Knox is tripped, if not you will still get a repair without problems.
Else go to sammobile and download newest firmware for your model and flash it via Odin.
Doesn't have time to write a step for step guide now, but will do so when I come home in a few hours if you still need help and no one else have helped you in the meantime.
I reluctantly called Verizon and to my amazement after a 20 minute conversation they agreed to ship me a new OEM replacement S6. Typically the Verizon support is a nightmare ... I'm so happy! Thanks again for your help.
I have had my sprint galaxy s5 for about a year and 5 months, and have had no problems.
I am running resurrection remix m, and i seem to be having a flickering screen every once in a while.
I switch to cm12.1 ; same deal, even a stock rom has the flickering.
And I've heard that it is a hardware problem, would sprint be okay with me sending in the device for a fix, or is there any way to fix it myself?
Otherwise, I am going to be stuck with a very annoying problem for another 8 months...
Hi I also have your problem, started on 5.8.5 and now that I downgraded to 5.8.4 continue. To you fix it?
hello i'm having the same problem , did you fix it ?

Hi I advised me to try the "Screen Filter" App from Playstore.
It creates a dark overlay and then raises the brightness and stops trembling.
Now it does it less than before.
Anyway, I've been told it's a hardware problem, not software.
Its been a while, and wanted to bring this back up front!
OK, First off, what is really going on? Screen flickering.... so many Q's, like e.g.- what color is showing up? Is is the entire screen, or just certain areas? Does this happen when phone is sleeping? ... Charging?
Also mentioned was "HARDWARE"... what was told to you, being hardware? Could be taking as a Screen, but, could be other hardware issues, such as bad gyros, modem, charging port. So again, I ask you, what specific hardware are you talking about?
OK, My case- Galaxy S5 (sm-g900p) Running the latest Lineage OS, 14.1 (built 14.12.2017) I have Screen Flickering. It has been going on for about a monthor so. It Flickers, grey/green lines over the screen. It is not completely covering the screen, mostly the last 80% of the screen area. You can still see the screen, lock or home, and does seem to be some sort of Overlay, on the screen. Sleep, Or not, and Charging or not, Locked or not, this happens. (watching this get worse over the last couple of weeks, makes me feel I need to fix this soon!)
Plus, good note here, sort of....in the last week or 2, I have gone 100% back to the latest Stock MM build from Samsung for my Sprint model. and this has not made any sort of difference to Screen Flickering.
Also, noted, that IF, on home screen or Lock screen, when it has this Flickering Overlay, IF you touch the screen, it goes away... NOT too sure what is going on yet, with this! Running logcats this week when I can, to find out what any info I can there, hopefully I can find out WHAT is really causing this....
I have just about a year on a "New" Screen. All the other boards inside, are Factory< and are well over 3 years old. I can state, that I have totally rebuilt several Galaxy S5's. So if this is in the hardware, which actual part is the issue? from what I have read, it is in the Motherboard. So this would be a complete rebuild of phone, no problem! Other than getting the Right Parts. Meaning, to many folks selling Factory parts, which they do not know what actual model of the S5, it came from.
So, any advise or help would be awesome. I would rather put $$ in this this model, than purchase anything else. I would still be money ahead.
Thanks for reading.

My S5 which I bought this month was build in 4/2014 it must have sat around for a while, as the original owner only activated in in 7/2016. If you think it is the logic board, then hell replace it.. This phone imop is better, than most of the new phones out there for what I use it for..
Hi My Samsung Note 4 is stuck on the red Verizon screen. I've been told that the only option is a factory reset. Unfortunately l wanted to get information from the phone calendar (not synced. to google, yes I know dumb). Is there any way to get past the screen it is stuck in?
It is a stock phone, it had been running hot the last couple of weeks so I did save everything else, I thought I had saved the calendar information but nope I messed up.
Is this impossible?

So had this phone for a while now and no problems, been running nougat for the past few months, this morning took my phone off charge and placed in pocket. A bit later I checked my phone, it was not responsive a black screen, did a hard reset does the samsung logo then gets stuck either flashing blue or pink. So leave it until I get home, flash latest nougat with odin installs fine, reboots and does same thing freezes at boot samsung flashing blue. Flash it again and now its froze after its said erasing...
I think something has failed hardware wise, any others had this issue?.

Just install "CPU awake" from play store, this will help you keep the device working, this problem is very common in each & every Samsung flagship, starts after 2 year use(won't ever buy a Samsung flagship again), no fix for it, if you don't believe me, check Evey flagship forum q/a section.

That app is useless, in that case completly useless. That app just won't allow CPU's get to deep sleep. But in him case that looks like just next S6 who get hardware broken from unknown reasons

Really? I have a note 4 , exactly same problem, that app gave it new life & not just mine, many note 4 users are using it who are facing the same problem, so, next time instead of just posting nonsense, do some research.

He even cannot turn on the phone, maximum what he can see is SAMSUNG logo so what the **** you are talking about turning on some app on working system?

That's a nand problem, if the device is cooled (I hold mine in front of AC for 5min.), that will help it to turn on & once it's on, install the app & it will work fine but it shouldn't be allowed to shutdown or it has to be cooled down again, it's not a new problem, thousands of Samsung mobiles which ship with faulty nand face the exact same problem, I know it sounds silly, it is what it is & it works(for thousands users)

Never before heard bullshits like that. Can you give some link to any information which will confirm that what you told so that a CPU Awake app will fix broken Samsung device? Please about it.
P.S.
I could'nt find anything about it

Enough with your bull****, here, take a look...

Read it, on almost every page someone recommended using cpuwake, it's not my problem that you are such a fool who instead of trying to help someone with some advice, would just bash other people who have faced similar issues & maybe know the solution. You can go **** yourself for all I care.
Rishi is correct about cpu awake on the Note 4. It is commonly viewed as a means of extending the life of the Note 4 but eventually the phone will fail.

Unfortunatly not, sold the phone as faulty as don't want to throw money at it, will not be getting another s6 my worse samsung yet, meanwhile my note 3 is still working great and will do for now.
My phone's screen was broken. So, i went to a shop and the repairer installed a new one. The phone was working fine. I updated it to Marshmallow but it has some brightness issues. So, i decided to downgrade it. I flashed my phone and after flashing, when i restarted it, my device is showing white thick vertical lines and then my device turns off. I tried re-flashing but still i have same issue. I cannot buy a new one as i am a uni student. I need help. it has almost been more than a week and i am without any smartphone lol. Kindly help me. Thanks! I have OPPO A39.

Probably because the replacement screen wasn't the exact same model as your original screen, meaning that the repair shop probably had to flash a different kernel or a modified kernel to make the different screen work with your stock software and when you updated to Marshmallow it probably flashed your stock kernel(the kernel that would have worked with the original screen but not exactly right for the new screen). If that is what they did, you might need to flash a different or modified kernel to fix this.
