today i brought my new oneplus 6 im very happy with it but i'm trying to transfer all my data from my oneplus 3 to the 6, I have been able to use the switch app which transferred most but no app data.
I then tried with switch backing up and then locating the backup file and copying it to my new device but its still missing app data.
Can anyone advise me on a solution.

I have used Titanium Backup to transfer all user apps with data from my op3 to the op6.
After the backup I transferred the backup-files to the op6 and restored all user apps. No cloud needed, fast and reliable.
I am also using Titanium Backup for apps and FolderSync to sync my entire /data to my home NAS. For a data migration I set up the new device, install FolderSync and download my data from my NAS, then install Titanium Backup and re-install apps. No cloud involved

That's the way I work also. (I only use rsync itself for synchronizing the data with my nas).

If I flash a ROM and then want to restore all my apps and data, why should I use Titanium?
1. So I see that my google "Backup account" can backup my data and restore apps and there settings and data. So why use Titanium?
2. whats the difference between googles backup and Titanium's?
3. Can I use both together when restoring? I assume google will restore first and then I will restore from Titanium... Is there any reason to restore from google account?
4. And then there's TWRP and its backup: what I understand about this is if I do a backup before I flash Viper Rom then I can flash my backup if I want to return to my old ROM and it will restore the ROM and apps and all data (so I wouldn't need to restore from Titanium and/or google in this scenario?). Is this correct?

the app data that is being talked about is rarely 3rd party app data.

titanium lets you back up apps whenever you please it even lets you keep old copies around if for some reason there is something in an update you don't like.
your assumptions on TWRP are spot on however if you make a backup today and a month down the road you decide to flash back all your apps have data from a month ago and you loose all your new stuff.
Titanium also lets you extract data from a TWRP or CWM backup. at least on an M8 I've only gotten it to work if the backup is on the "internal sd card"
Titanium pro has a lot of additional features scheduled backups. you can sync to a google drive, dropbox, or box account. backing up only data/apps that have changed.

ok, so what if I do a Titanium backup and then use TWRP to restore from a backup "a month ago" and then will I still have my most resent Titanium backup to restore or will restoring the TWRP backup erase all my current data (titanium backup) on my phone?

TWRP will not remove your Titanium backups unless you specifically tell it to wipe your sd card (sdcard2) or your personal data partition(sdcard1) depending on where you have it set to back things up to.

TWRP takes a snapshot of your system in time. I you do a TWRP nandroid, by default it will copy your /boot, /system, /recovery and /data partitions. Think of it like a restore point in Windows Restore - except better
Titanium Backup is more specific (and also or more limited): You use it for your apps and their data.
It becomes useful if you do a clean install as in: wiping your data partition.
Yes, you can also do a partial restore from TWRP and just restore the data partition of any given nandroid after a clean install, but since it's an image of your /data before the wipe it will also restore potential problems. Restoring with TiBu is somewhat "cleaner" since it re-installs your apps from a backup.
I make a nandroid of my system when I want to flash something new - a new rom or new mod - but I want to keep my option to return to my last working setup.
I use TiBu to reinstall my apps after a clean install.
Anyway - you can never have too many backups :laugh:

Hii guys .. I have been using titanium backup from a long time. But from sometime it doesn't seem to be working that good for me. I backed up my apps and data .. Then isntalled a custom rom (bliss pop) i restored the backup (app+data) and although all apps got restored, the data was gone. I lost atleast 8-10 gb of data because i had a lot of heavy games. Do i have any means to recover that data? If not is there any other alternative backup app than titanium backup? For future preference. Otherwise i won9be able to change roms or return to stock.

Hmm..titanium backup is supposed to be the best backup app, dunno why that happened to you.
Anyway, you can also try helium. Its free. I've never personally tried it but ive heard that it works all well as TB and it has a sync feature so u don't need to manually backup all the time when u have some thing new in an app..
Try helium backup. Used to use it when my phone wasnt rooted. Obviously not as good as titanium backup.
Search for Backup+ on xda. An awesome alternative to Titanium backup. Trust me, you'll love it.
TiBu doesn't backup large game data files unless explicitly set in the options. By default it will only back them up if it's under 32MB (See Backup app external data & Select external data by max size)
I use my backup. It's an awesome app. While I was using tb, I switched to it. It's free for a month, so you can try it.

You can do manual backups of heavy games.
1.try backup on apk of the game using app backup and restore app from the play store and backup the apk.
2.most of the heavy games data are stored in Android -> obb.. So keep a backup of obb on the system or phone by just copying it to another folder.
3. After installing a new rom. Place the obb in the android folder and then install back the app from the app app backup and restore.

I use a rooted Samsung Galaxy Note 4 running Marshmallow 6.0.1. I use Go Launcher EX 5.15 as my default launcher. I desperately want to keep the backup files of this launcher safe. Because if anyhow my phone gets lost or damaged, after buying a new phone it will be a difficult and lengthy process to set all the things of the launcher again.
Titanium Backup Pro (even the most updated one) has never worked for me to restore the data of Go Launcher EX. If I try to restore the backed up data by Titanium Backup, the Go Launcher Ex app becomes just like brand new & all the data is erased. Although the Titanium Backup app works just fine in backing up & restoring any other app data. Therefore I used to use Helium Backup Premium. It used to work fine. It could upload the backed up files to Dropbox or other cloud storages. But for a few months, Helium Backup is not being able to backup any data on my phone. I also tried Go Backup Pro. It also failed to upload the backed up files to Dropbox or any other cloud storage. I don't know why all these backup apps are disappointing me. Does anyone have any idea or suggestions about how to keep the data of Go Launcher Ex safe so that I can get back the backed up data easily & restore it??

I often use the Preference > Advanced Settings > Backup & Restore Settings option. I'm not sure whether during switching my mobile phone, will it work for me to copy the whole GOLauncher Ex folder to the internal storage of the new phone from the older one so that I can restore the data to the new phone? Does anyone have such kind of experience for whom this method has worked??
A few days ago, I upgraded my Redmi Note 4X from the Android 7 based MIUI 11 to custom MIUI 12 firmware, based on Android 9. Since I wanted to keep all my apps, I first rooted my phone and did a backup with Super Backup & Restore. After installing the new ROM (which was already rooted with Magisk) and installing Super Backup again. For some reason, it deleted all the data from its backup folder on my MicroSD Card. Fortunately, I was able to recover just about everything using some data recovery software on my PC.
For some reason, if I restore the apps using Super Backup, they crash when I open them. This is happening to, after flashing the MIUI 11 firmware again. It also is happening on a different phone.
As an alternative, instead of using Super Backup, I've tried copying and pasting the app data for an app (that has already been installed again on my phone) that Super Backup backed up, to apps folder on my phone's internal storage, replacing the current data there, with the data from by backup. However, when I do that, although what ever file manager I use, says it has successfully pasted the data, the app data on the phone does usually not get overwritten. To give two examples. When I try and replace the database used by the Meizu Notes app, with the database from the backup it does not get replaced. I even tried to do the same with AROMA File Manager with TWRP and it made no difference. Not only does the Notes app not show the data from my backup, but if I open the database file in a file manager, it also does not show that data. I find this to be strange, as I get no errors when pasting the data from my MicroSD Card and choosing to overwrite the existing data.
The second example, is this. I tried to use my old Coc Coc Browser's bookmarks file. After doing so, Coc Coc, had no bookmarks. I then manually added a bookmark to Coc Coc, after which, I tried copying the bookmarks file again. Coc Coc now actually had my old bookmarks and not the one bookmark I just added, which is quite strange, as it the file copy hadn't worked the first time.
I am looking for some way to be able to actually restore the app data from my backup. I've already quite a few hours trying to find a solution, with no luck so far. But I figure, that there must be some way to do it. Based on past experiences, I really should have made backups with two different backup apps, as I know that sometimes restoring backups can be problematic. But due to limited free space on my MicroSD Card, I decided not to. I just wish that there was a decent native backup solution for Android, as I always want all of my app data restored when switching ROMs, or phones and not just the apps themselves.
