Hi all,
So when I got my phone I used the NFC copy feature and copied all apps and settings from my HTC 10. One of the things I had set up on my 10 was for the "night mode" blue light filter to come on at 10PM and go off at 6AM.
Apparently my Mix 2S copied that setting, but here's the kicker: the reading mode and night mode are turned completely off in my settings. So at no point should this filter turn on, but yet it still does. Every night at 10PM. Even better, turning the night mode on in the quick settings turns the filter off! It's maddening!
I can fiddle around with the brightness settings and get it to turn back off, and I believe if I set a custom time for "reading mode" in the settings it will obey that setting. But if I leave everything off it just turns on every night at 10PM just because it wants to.
Any ideas? TIA!
Are you on global or China ROM? I'm still on global having the same annoying issue. If you want to take a screen capture (video) during the night the video is completely brown.
I've got a global 6/64 version running the most recent ota update for Global. It is super annoying, glad I'm not the only one!
Wondering if xiaomi.eu has this issue as well. I created a bug report in their useless forum.. but no reaction at all:

On my phone it's under Settings > Display > Reading mode. From there you can set it to turn on when the sun is down or a specific time period. Most importantly, it will say "Off" on the Display screen even if you have it set to a timer or automatic setting.
Global 6/128GB model on stock ROM.

It's all switched off. Despite those settings the display switches after 20:00 GMT+2 here. It's not visible, screen looks normal - but try a screen record in the night, and you will see the brown colored screen.
Check the bug report at miui.com website I quoted above, there are screenshots attached.

Everything is off in those settings. I don't want the filter to turn on at all, yet it never fails at 10PM CST it turns on and I have to fiddle with the brightness settings to turn it off.
Well it's a bug. If you configure "second space" and run your apps there, the screen is fine!
If you switch back to primary space, it's dark brown until you change something in display settings (still, screen recording is broken during the night).

You could try setting it to turn on for a short time when you would be asleep and see if it overrides the 10PM issue.

Tried already, it's not working. During the night all screen records are brown. Try yourself

I'm now using the MIUI 10 beta as well and this bug is still there for me too. Very strange.
Yeah. Sold my 2S because this was just too annoying.
Oh well this sucks. Same issue with Mi8. So this is a MIUI bug, not device related
Fixed, sort of. Using cf.lumen (play store) I put overlay to disable and everything is ok again. So definitely a bug of miui.

How did you fix it? Is it okay to uninstall cf.lumen afterwards? I'm on latest MIUI 10 pie, and its still turning brown at 630PM and back to normal at 630AM (a setting I used with my OnePlus)

I have started getting a problem with the auto brightness switching itself off.
I keep switching it back on and then after a periods of time... Can't be specific but when I come out of an app or having been watching a video and go back to the homescreen it's really bright and the auto setting is off again.

The only reason I know that auto-brightness would be switched off is if an app you installed does it inherently. Maybe you installed a gallery or videos app that turns up the brightness when you view a picture or video?

I had this exact problem. Found a solution here on the forum. If you've installed the Samsung Car App, un-install it. It was causing the auto brightness to turn off automatically.

Thanks
That was the culprit
Has anyone noticed how the auto-brightness tick box is no longer in quick settings menu with P20/P20 Pro? Its strange as older Huawei devices had it and even P20 Lite has it. I wonder why they eliminated it with EMUI 8.1/Oreo 8.1.
Didn't use Huawei before, but if you just set the brightness higher manually it won't go down automatically. (At least in my short test it didn't)
However if you set it to the lowest setting and shine heavy light on the phone it will go up.
Personally I don't feel like needing a toggle for that.
It's clever so in bright light it will brighten the phone but won't dimm it when in darkness.
I think it kind of resets after locking the phone.

I just received my mix2s last weekend, and I have been using it for several days.
But through these days, I find it that when you turned off the automatic brightness, and the phone is displaying some dark or black contents, the brightness will get lower by itself, but when you turn to some colorful or brighter contents, the btightness will get back to normal itself.
so I'm wondering is there anyone got the same problem like me? and how can I turn it off? I mean, just don't turn down the brightness itself when showing dark contents.
Just checked it on my phone and you are right, screen becomes darker when you display dark content. Also with auto brightness disabled. Maybe it has something to do with the automatic contrast settings
Edit: I was right, if you disable automatic contrast the brightness stays like you set it

can you tell me where is the "automatic contrast" settings? seems that miui just deleted it
It seems to be a problem since the last mix 2. you can try search on google and on this forum.
There are few fixes you can do, just go over the search. I didn't do it myself because I just manually adjust the brightness myself. It is pretty annoying though.

thank you, it works. But is there any way to keep brightness stay with automatic contrast enabled? I bought this phone in China, but the screen of Chinese version mix2s seems extremely yellow if I don't enable automatic contrast :crying:

Maybe with a third party app that changes the contrast? You would need root privileges for an app like this I think...

Thank you I could not figure out what was causing this on my phone. When watching Youtube on lowest brightness at night the screen would fluctuate and it drives me crazy. Did not know that had something to do with it but now I know.
This is an old thread, but it's high on Google rankings, so I'm adding to it.
I think my main annoyance with this is the position of the sensor. If I'm typing or scrolling with my thumb, it seems I'm covering the sensor with my hand, so it thinks it's gone dark, so decreases brightness.
Disabling the auto brightness fixed it for me
(Using Resurrection Remix)
I set up Do Not Disturb mode for when I go to bed. It turns on at a certain hour, and turns off at a certain hour. Perfect.
Except, it doesn't work right. I still get sounds and notifications.
So it's useless.
Why is it broken? Or are there additional settings I'm missing?
Same for me on Mi8 with MIUI 10

I have been using DND mode since I bought the phone (stock global firmware, then xiaomi.eu roms and updates) and never had issues.
I set dnd manually and it works fine
Never had problems with DND, but for some reason, there is no application DND notification bypass settings available for any apps, at least on MIUI10. For some reason Xiaomi decided to disable this feature.
Mine doesn't work either. Totally stock.
Hi
I've S10 plus exynos.
I've noticed a strange thing keeps happening today I made the power mode on optimized and adaptive battery on but these settings keep changing to be power saving mode and adaptive power mode off.
I tried reset settings but still have the same issue
Any idea?

Usually this happens before the first week of usage is over. The software needs to read your usage patterns in order to get adaptive power saving to work correctly.
Adaptive battery saving changes your profile automatically, but it will set itself off if you change profile manually.
Anyone can tell how to enable deep sleep mode. AoD is disabled. But battery is not giving 7 hours even on mild usage
Wait for march update
Sent from my SM-G975F using Tapatalk
If you update it to the latest version, you will be fine.
I've not observed this problem with my phone, running ASCA - March security patch
Only time I get this is if I turn on adaptive power. First thing I turned off.
