Hello everybody,
I would kindly ask you to tell me if anybody has seen the "LTE-A/4G+" icon on their Honor View 10. It does not matter if it is the indian model, the european or the north american one.
I would like to know if the phone can use the LTE-A mobile data.
In case there is a positive answer from somebody, please, attach a screenshot too.
PS: A friend of mine has Mate 10 Pro which is prettty much the same phone. We are both on the same mobile network and he is always with 4G+ while my Honor View 10 is constantly stuck on just 4G. We have tested the speeds and I was getting around 30-40 mbps download speed while my friend's phone showed results of 70-80 mbps. We made the test few times and the results were always the same.
I am looking forward to your comments.
I guess no, we only get 4g. Never knew there was really that much difference between 4g and 4g+ as didn't saw much difference between 3g and 3g+(maybe cause 3g didn't never gave as high speed as 4g). I am currently using 2 different carriers for data in this phone and both gives 4g. Actually never have seen 4g+ in any phone before and kirin processors doesn't has anything locked features so same processors from kirin should give the same support. I guess they can fix this with a software update for our phone
@qtoo941 Is carrier agregation related to LTE-A? The only think that could happened is Mate 10 Pro is certified by your carrier as LTE-A mobile, like it happens with VoLTE.
My carrier is Vodafone Spain, and never seen 4G+ or similar, on BKL-L09 european.
In the build prop somewhere I saw 4g+ symbol value was set as false
I got in touch with Huawei Bulgaria and they said the Honor View 10 does not support LTE-A because of its antennas. I am shocked... I am not sure if this is true or not but for now I believe the LTE-A can be unlocked with a software update, because a friend of mine received an update on his Mate 10 (regular, not pro) like 3 months ago and immediately after the update he saw the 4G+ icon, which was missing from his phone before that software update... However, I would like to know what is the case with the Indian and the Chinese variant..
the device officialy supports LTE-A Cat18 but to get it work must your carrier supports LTE-A (4G+)
i have the 4G+ in my honor v10 supported by my carrier

Can you please upload a picture of your phone? For example go to "About phone" and then make screenshot, where the 4G+ icon is actually visible. Would you please do that, at least for me?

ebay LON-L29C636B156, t-mobile USA. (upgrade to B156 yesterday, did not change anything in respect to this issue).
I can get the 4G on the home screen, but never the 4G LTE symbol. And i do not get the VoLTE menu option. I called up t-mobile support and they said that whether or not its a phone bought from them or not, LTE would get enabled if the phone supports it. So i am starting to suspect that my phone (or rather the 636 taiwanese firmware ?) does not really support/enable LTE.
My t-mobile SIM does give me 4G LTE symbol in a colleagues Honor 8 from Best Buy, T-mobile USA does not sell that. Which seems to support what t-mobile support told me. His ATT SIM does also not give me 4G LTE indication on my phone.
Given how the specs of the HW all claim LTE support for the mate 9 pro, i wonder what my best diagnostics are to determine whether or not the firmware actually enables it.
Reboot phone without any SIM inserted: "LTE cell info" app: "3G mobile technologies": Yes, "4G mobile technologies: No", "Max speeds": HSPA - aka: seems to indicate that phone does not support LTE. Same with SIM inserted, no change whether i enable/disable 4G in the system.
"AntennaPict" app, with SIM inserted, 4G enabled says LTE: -106 dbm, with 4G disabled, it says HSPA+.
*sigh*. So the diagnostics apps are inconsistent.
Was wondering what others with Mate 9 pro see.
Not sure what else i could try. Go to european firmware via Funky and see if thats any better ? (whats the number for european firmware ?).
Thanks!
Its part of the upcoming software update. Same was enabled in the mate 9.
It absolutely supports LTE. 4G is synonymous with LTE outside of the US. It won't attach to LTE networks without a SIM inserted because of the way authentication onto those networks is performed. The second app is correct.
You can check network info in about phone.
Bumping here as I have the same issue as the OP.
Anyone figured how to get LTE and VoLTE enabled on LON-L29 on T-Mobile USA...
Also, how do we get OTA update while in the US as I believe my Mate 9 Pro is an Asian Model (LON-L29636) ?
Any help here guys/gals would be super helpful. I love the Mate 9 Pro, but without these 2 **important** features it is going to collect dust on my shelf.
Thanx

Problem is you have a C636 model, which is for Asia region, not for USA. Unfortunately there is no model available under US? This was the same issue I face here in Australia - there is no AU model sold here.
From what I have seen there are only these models for the Mate 9 Pro:
Mate 9 Pro, Europe Version (LON-L29C432)
Mate 9 Pro, Asia Version (LON-L29C636)
Mate 9 Pro, Middle East Version (LON-L29C185)
Mate 9 Pro, Non-Region-Branded (LON-L29C900)
Mate 9 Pro, China Version (LON-AL00C00)
And from what I have read on XDA - there is a "cust" partition, which contains the VOLTE configuration files, which are specific to that regions Telco providers, so not having any USA configuration - the VOLTE options do not work or display to enable them... This is a major flaw with how Huawei have configured the mobile device, from what I read on forums these files are under 1mb in size, so why they have not included all regional files on each device no matter the location is beyond me.... I am stuck without VOLTE option here in Australia due to this fact, and will most likely never get it since they are not selling the device here.
The C900 being "Non-Region-Branded", sounds like this may (or may not) be a winner to rebrand to.. i'm wondering if it contains configuration for all regions!
LTE here tho is called "4G" and I am connecting with 4G and 4G+, and get the data speeds of that, but not calling (it drops down to HSPA+ when I make a call).
I have read on here that Mate 9 owners have been able to backup the cust partition and then restore it using TWRP on other devices, or most people have re-branded to their correct region.. this not possible since there is no USA or AU region build for M9 Pro.
Hi Guys is there any Indian guy who bought this device could you please confirm if this device support carrier aggregation in India? Specifically on Reliance Jio network. If yes it is 2CA or 3CA?
Thank you.

Kirin 970 processor present in the Honor View 10 is the Worlds first mobile SoC that supports Cat 18 LTE. It can attain maximum data speeds of 1.2Gbps. In contrast, Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 835, supports Category 16 downlink LTE, and can achieve maximum download speeds of 1Gbps.Tthe Kirin 970 is capable of aggregating up to 5 LTE (5CA) downlink carriers & phones equipped with this chipset will likely achieve even higher data speeds once carriers start supporting this technology. So basically it future proof. Even the OnePlus 5T supports only upto 3CA.
CA related question
Is there any tool, app, code to see between which 4G bands the device is "making" the CA?

The carrier aggregation option is missing from my phone, lol - B140 C432 (Europe). My OnePlus 5 had LTE-A all the time (the 4G support on my mobile provider is on 1800 and 2100 bands). Since I got the View 10, I have not seen the LTE-A sign not even once, always stuck on 4G only. A friend of mine has Mate 10 Pro and he gets LTE-A. Same mobile provider, same chipset.

I'm in America..
And it says 4g on mine all the time
But when I check the signal I get lte band 5.. And others depending on what towers I use it the area I'm in
I think maybe the indicator is inaccurate but still received lte.
Down load lte Discovery app from play.
It will tell you all the info you need.
Also depending on what theme I use the indicator will work and show lte.
Just eye candy.. It works.
Hello, I'm based in Italy and I noticed that with every app I've tried there is no sign of 4g+ on this phone. In my place there are three bands bts with 3-7-20 band so I was used to my old oneplus 3t always using 2CA. I find it absurd that a 2019 phone with a quite recent chipset doesn't support it.
I'm not rooted so I can't check with network guru...
Is there anyone that noticed something different? Do we have any confirmation? Is it a software issue or did they really disable ca?
Thanks in advance to anyone
Edit 22/11: It was confirmed today by realme email support that there is NO 4G+ support for the realme 5 pro so as I thought they didn't pay Qualcomm and disabled aggregation.... Just so anyone know before buying the phone. AFAIK all other phones even on 99 euros tier now support at least 2CA
Sounds unlikely it doesn't support 4G with 300 mb/s upper download/upload limit... Not to mention I've looked into specific network responsible files and modules including vendor/modem partition and img. But if you don't believe me...
Btw I've got China Realme Q version which doesn't support B7/B20 only B3 which means I only get 1/3 available LTE/4G bands in my country. Nevertheless I manage. Even if they confirmed they don't support 4G, LTE can get pretty fast. I'm getting high speeds here in Hungary. I don't know whether or not because I use RMQ, not RM5P though.

Hello and thanks for your reply. Of course I believe you, but I guess you didn't really get the main problem in lacking of CA.
Phone supporting bands means nothing, there are many low cost xiaomi phones that, for example, got problems with CA of B7+B20 (like my old Mi A1 for example) which you can find several references in the mi.com forum (for example here, but italian topic: https://c.mi.com/thread-1751078-1-0.html)
This was due to xiaomi disabling some CA combinations due to the phone being sold in different markets and xiaomi wasn't present in the EU officially back at the time, so even tough the phone did support all EU 4g bands it was just not aggregating them.
This leaded as said to GIANT network fluctuation problems which I can make you an example for: under a BTS with b3+b20 inside a building phone was catching 1 bar or B3 instead of getting 5 bars of B20 (which works better inside buildings) so, next to each other my wife OP3t could use internet and receive calls, my Mi A1 was stuck on a single bar not receiving anything.
So i am not talking about SPEED (which is even limited on non-main carriers here in Italy) but about a more serious "stability" of the network, while you move and keep switching between bands, which is crucial for a phone, just that
Xiaomi lately fixed the problem in newer phones, but for years it was like that (mi mix, mi 8 and such are all affected by lacks of EU CA combinations). This realme looks to be the same, and even worse because as said there is not a single 4g+ or CA combination according to them.
Since you are rooted can you check please with something like Network Guru if you, near to a multi-band BTS can "receive" some sort of carrier aggregation there, if you have any near?
Thanks

I see your problem. Totally makes sense. Though I don't have network signal issues with my device that can easily be because I'm in a different country with different carrier. That is the easiest explanation. I've taken some screenshots for you in network guru. Hopefully this'll help a bit analyse the situation.
I have here listed Realme 5 Pro supported 4G Combinations: https://cacombos.com/device?model=RMX1971EX - This support 4G+ but only intra-band contiguous combinations so this is reason why in most of networks no CA working.
Hello, I'd buy Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra with Snapdragon chipset. But now is complicated. I don't know which one is better to buy N986U1 or N9860? I'll not root phone, even if I'll root than no problem with USA variant to unlock bootloader (xda-developers I read one thread samsung pwned). Other thing is 5G. Will it work in UK or not? I read tutorial how to enable all bands on LTE, 5G via service menu, so maybe will work. I'll be happy if FM radio works.
N9860 (TGY - Hong Kong) should work with 5G on the Three network in the UK, probably also with Vodafone. Definitely not with EE. Not much feedback about O2.
But the N9860 is getting appalling support from Samsung. No Android 11 yet and still stuck on November security updates. When updates are released they can undo service menu changes required to enable 4G+.
I can't comment on how the experience might be in the UK with the US versions, but so far I'm not impressed with Samsung and this phone. The hardware is great. The imported software support is a scandal. I would probably not risk importing again.
Thanks for repley. Maybe now doesn't makes a sense between Snapdragon and Exynos variant. Most S10 Plus, Note 10 Plus previously been imported from USA. But for Note 20 Ultra is absolutely different more from China. What is the reason for it. Because bootloader vy default can be unlocked or something specific. I'm using EE. So if 5G doesn't work I'll not worry so much.
I get up to 200 Mbps on EE with 4G+ and I'm really not sure whether the 5G coverage extends to my neighbourhood, so I'm not fussed that 5G does not work for me. I tried to find signal where it is claimed to exist and got nothing. 4G+ coverage is very good for me though, so happy days.
I don't know why it does not work. The required bands are supported and I've tested with 5G SIMs from EE, 3 and Voxi. I've contacted EE support and Samsung (UK) support and nobody gives a **** as the phone is imported.
My only real beef is the complete lack of updates. My S10+ is more up to date than this N9860. I have no idea why Samsung are dragging their feet over this specific model.
I will say this the N986U1 do get updates frequently and I'll the specs far as signals in your area

Thanks, I had Note 10 Plus with Snapdragon USA for short time and coverage was very better than with Exynos. With Snapdragon signal was perfect but with Exynos was weak and many times impossible to make calls.

Yea I had the Exynos Note 9 and the signal sucked in the US
Thanks for repley, so, I bought Note 20 Ultra USA variant.
N9860 has got Android 11 on Feb 3rd. And it is amazing.
Phone recieved and I'm happy with it. Flashed XAA U1 and no problem at all. Only for the moment is it issue on my side or phone, but ebay app doesn't work. It says:"
Try searching for something above or tap "Reload" to try again. Rest apps works without issues.
Update: I believe it was ebay issue. eBay app working now. All is perfect.
Hi all
Can someone kindly check which bands are supported? There seems to be no official information from Samsung which is a bit odd. Makes me think the Exynos version supports a fair few less bands vs the Snapdragon version. I also asked Samsung support and noticed in their reply following bands are missing:
B18, B19, B25, B26, B32, B38 and B66
I haven't fact-checked it but Techwalls has a rundown: https://www.techwalls.com/samsung-galaxy-s21-plus-5g...
@C0derbear it does look more plausible vs. what Samsung support says (sigh they can be so clueless but I keep thinking it must be a lousy job and don't blame them). Do you own a S21+? We can probably cross check using a dial code or a tool (no root required AFAIK)
I do have one, I have a US unlocked (direct from samsung) with a Verizon SIM card at this time.
Oh I see. I need someone with an Exynos. They can try this:
and post some screenshots.
I've been using the exynos s21 ultra on t-mobile and it supports all the lte bands plus one 5g band. You don't get a 5g symbol on the status bar, instead you get a 4g+ symbol. I've tested the speeds between this phone and the t-mobile plus 9 pro and they're exactly the same. The only difference is that calls take up to 5 seconds to connect compared to the one plus which is instant. I hope this information helps anyone on the fence about purchasing an exynos variant.
