V30 cases on a V35! - LG V30 Accessories

Hello everyone. Just wanted to post this (think it should be stickied) for anyone looking for a V35 case and thought that a V30 case will fit.
Disclaimer: V35 Camera placement is lower by like 1/8th of an inch. If the case has a wide opening around the camera there shouldn't be much issue, but if its right next to the camera you will have issues.
Was going to take pictures but completely forgot... I can include a picture of a plain V35 if you want to try and compare.
FYI. There still isn't a V35 section.

Why should it be stickied here? This isn't the V35 forum. This is the V30 forum. V35 is completely different phone from any of the V30 variant: V30/V30+/V30S.
The strange thing is there IS a separate "V30S" forum, and there shouldn't be -- the V30S is just a V30 variant, like the V30+. All the V30S users come here, like they should.
But there's no V35 forum, and there should be.

Like I stated above, there isn't a V35 forum section yet.
I know you as a V30 owner wouldn't care and should ignore this just like the majority will. But there will be V35 owners looking at V30 section since everywhere it is stated that the v30 and v35 are physically the same but no where does it state the fact that the cameras are placed lower than the other which will affect case selection.
So obviously this should be moved once we have a V35 section but for now those that browse through here looking for case suggestions or review will be aware of this and not go buy things online thinking they will fit.
Ps. It's completely different internally and basically the same physically except for what I'm stating here. This is the accessories section. Not the development one.

dammit I just bought the wrong case then

Why would you buy a LG V20 or LG V30 case for LG V35 phone?
Does the seller say it's for LG V35?
The V35 is not a V30 "variant" or any other variant. It's a completely different phone. It's really what the V40 should be -- since the V40 is going to have a NOTCH.
The V35 is going to be a lot people's "V40", instead of the real V40.

This website store seems to think if it fits the V30 it will also fit the V35. They are not selling cases separately. Each V35 case is also sold as compatible with the V30.

I have seen a lot of sellers advertising that it will work for v30 and v35

Then they will give refunds or get poor reviews until they realize their mistake.

So I guess DBrand skins will need some trimming then. Post some pics. I just got my V35 for PFi and so far am very happy. Got pixel launcher on it and it's beginning to look just like my old Nexus6!

Ringke has informed me that they are working on making v35 cases, my V30/V30S case fits with the camera cutout just touching the camera bump a little. I do wish the mic holes were bigger for less rubbing noise.

Then I can assume that a dbrand skin from the V30 is a no go for the V35?

I tweeted dbrand and slickwraps to see if they'd modify their V30 templates and support the V35 and got no reply from either.

There's not a V35 "forum". Any V35 threads no matter where posted on XDA are tabbed as "V35" and show up in the V35 discussion search. There's apparently not enough demand for a separate forum. In many ways, G7 internally is closer to V35 than V30.
Many just post in https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/development

But in this case (pun not intended), it's literally the exact same phone as the V30 with the exception of the camera being moved a millimeter or so.
And if V35 needs a seperate forum, the V30+ & V30S should have seperate forums as well.
Added ram is fine, but a processor change warrants a new forum?
At most, make a separate V35 development forum, everything else is the same... Especially in terms of accessories.

Some major differences: V35 has different cameras -- 8MP front camera, 2 x 16MP rear cameras, besides Treble and Snapdragon 845.
First and foremost XDA is a development forum.
No, V35 is not the same phone as V30. V30/V30+/V30S are all code name "JOAN" phones. This is why the bootloader unlock exploit works for all, this is why V30 TWRP works for all, this is why all the V30 ROMs work for all. They're all "V30" phones, inside and out. The only difference in any of the V30 variants is storage or RAM.
V35 is code name "JUDYP". LG may have used almost same frame as V30, but internally it's closer to G7. G7 is "JUDYN". V30 (JOAN) TWRP and ROMs will not work on JUDYP or JUDYN.
Ironically XDA gave V30S (a V30 phone) a separate forum, when they shouldn't have (Only FIVE posts total in that forum, and two of them are mine!), but didn't give V35 a separate forum when they should have. But a lot of V35 users are posting in Android General.
In XDA defense, at launch LG tried to sell the idea V30S ThinQ was "completely different" (to compete with Samsung new Galaxy S9 phones), but once actually released and once all the other V30 and (even G6) got ThinQ, it was easy to see V30S was just another JOAN V30+ with more RAM.
When V35 was released perhaps XDA didn't want to make the same mistake like made with the V30S, and also don't want to allocate resources for a "minor" phone. If there's enough demand the V35 will get their own forum.

I can't wait for this phone... 810 or not.
Waiting to see what the other cases will look like.
And interesting lock screen image they have on there.. is that what it's going to look like?
That seems like the Emotion UI from Huawei.
Marshmallow is almost the same as Lollipop.
(I guess you can flash Emotion UI anyway, or just port the lock app )
thats just a faux image, it doesnt have the hump on the back which is shown in every previous leak. just a placeholder image dude

Ok. I was only curious.
And I never mentioned the hump on the back.
But the CASE shows it has room for the hump.

That case doesn't have any room for a hump. The camera, mic and fp scanner are in the right spot tho (according to the leaks) just missing the hump. The leaks could have been a a early prototype tho. We'll see on the 29th

True indeed....the camera and sensors are in the right spot...just missing the hump. I hope they got rid of the hump. I really want the phone but will not get it with that stupid hump in there.
They honestly should have kept the nexus 6 moto design. One thing they could learn from apple and Samsung for that matter is to keep a great design and just build on it till its perfect. They could just made shamu smaller and added the fingerprint scanner where the moto symbol was and that's it.

i liked the moto design it was just a tad too big. and i dont mind the huawei stuff. their premium phones look and feel pretty amazing in the hand. and their fp scanner tech is definitely quick to respond and on point. one of the reasons why i enjoy the nexus line so much (besides the glory and awesomeness that is stock android) is that you know the new nexus wont look the same as last years model. it feels like youre getting a brand new phone every year not just an upgrade

That's true about getting a brand new phone....only problem is if the new phone isn't to your liking you end up waiting 2 years for a new device...hence why I'm using a 2013 N5 instead of N6. I like the idea of a new phone every year with an updated model 6 months later.
i guess the images of the case i was looking at (with a small hump where the hump is) fooled me. I mean, am i the only one who sees it?

I stated in another thread. I think that the true signal is going to be great because signal on the g3 for me is bad.... And this looks more promising than any other phones coming out.....
I was eagerly awaiting a Nexus device but considering the pathetic specs of the 5x and the fact that the 6p won't be in stores has me really considering LG once again. I'm really excited about that 4GB of ram for this new device. I may not be interested in a dual screen phone though if this is what is coming. LG so far is really good at having a large single display and keeping overall dimensions to a minimum. Simply adding an additional screen would make it overall too big.

Great phone! Time to upgrade from LG G Pro 2
So it looks like a no brainer. I guess this is my next device but it's a little bigger than I really wanted to go. I guess I could go without a big bulky case on the V10 though considering it's very durable. Does anyone know if LG is still releasing an LG G4 Pro, or is that not happening this year?

Can't wait for the V10! Been switching between my aging LG Nexus 4, and my Samsung Note 4 (Not a big fan). My Nexus 4 has always been my favorite phone, can't wait to be daily driving another LG. Props to LG for sticking up for the power users who require a removable battery and SD card slot!
Interesting concept, but I've been wondering for awhile why is it that LG continues to use 3000mAh batteries, can they not improve the capacity?
The G2, G3, G4, Flex 2, and now V10 share the same capacity. Of course the G2 does best with 3K, yet that doesn't explain why 2yrs later they haven't moved to at least 31-3400mAh. From my quick research none of the newer LG's have comparable battery performance to either the OPO/G2, a trait that led me to love my G2.
From my personal experience newer LG's (going off of screen time provided by others) are comparable to the original Optimus G, which was between 4-5hrs (or G1 I suppose). LG is great with implementing strange features like dual this, dual that, flexible this, leather that. Yet, not much has changed for battery.

Good question. What about my G3 with 538 ppi screen? Still better than most new phones, I love this phone and I still think its beautiful in white with the metal edge. Now you see why I'm torn on any upgrade.
With the battery, it would make sense to keep using 3k mah when a lot of the new phones are still lower. Especially if LG can keep using at least part of the same battery mfg process to save on retooling and set-up costs. Maybe they feel like battery life is still competitive so they're not investing R&D money there.
Anyway, I'm ready for a change and I'm 85% sure it's going to be a Nexus 6P in Frost white!
I really want to go for the Nexus 6P but the AMOLED screen is a major turn off for me.
This doesn't look to shabby but having just dropped $600 on a G4 that has some annoying touchscreen issues I'm not too happy with LG at the moment.
Will stick to my G2. Only true upgrade would be RAM but I can survive with 2GB for now. Camera on G2 is alright and honestly 5.2" isn't exactly small.
More than 2 years and still not a single mAh extra. I can't understand their approach to the battery either but I can see why they chose snapdragron 808 once again. This will make the G5 stand out even more when they announce that it is powered by the snapdragon 820.

Nice general spec comparison to the iP6+
If it supports Tmo 12 band, I could definitely see myself moving on from my G3. I use the IR Blaster often enough where I don't think I will willingly move to a phone without one, very glad to see it's on the V10.
The only thing missing that would make it perfect for me is stereo front facing speakers, but at least the one speaker faces forwards instead of backwards like on my G3.

Original Polycarbonate Back Cover

I would like to buy another original back cover for my Mi4C. I know that is not supposed to be like Swap Covers on OPO and OP2 but does anyone know if those covers are available somewhere? Or does Mi4i back covers fit perfectly with Mi4C? What I mean when I talk about "original back cover" is this:

EDIT: So I found a red back cover for my Mi4C. You can find plenty of them from aliexpress. I also did the DIY qwerty phone mod. Check out from here: Qwerty Keyboard Slider [DIY]
My final target is DIY qwerty phone. I already bought iPhone 6 bluetooth qwerty case since iPhone 6 and Mi4C share almost same dimensions and camera is located in same place. If I can find original back cover I'm going to cut the edges from iPhone 6 qwerty case and glue the Mi4C back cover to it. Then I have perfect qwerty slider Android phone (Yeah, BlacBerry Priv slides out wrong way). If I cannot find original back cover for Mi4C I have to use some third party case/cover which make whole package little bit thicker and bigger. I believe that the total dimension with Mi4C and iPhone 6 qwerty case would be something like 139x70x14mm. Not bad at all :good:
iPhone 6 qwerty case:
I'm interested in this item, too.
An internet search gave me just covers that go above the original one and not substitute it.
No luck here also. I have even tried to find cheap and broken Mi4i for testing if the back cover/panel suits for Mi4C. I just cannot find any...

Some hope here! Someone at MIUI forum claimed that you can buy a black replacement back panel for Mi4i for 900rs (under 15$) from the service center. I emailed Xiaomi about this and asked if this is only possible in India or international also. No reply yet.
I believe that it would be easy job to drill hole for IR blaster

Thanks for the info though, maybe we could ask some reseller e.g. IbuyGou, honorbuy etc. - the price will probably be higher but it's worth a shot
Finally found the place
After many hours of search I finally found the site where you can get new covers.
And I mean the original battery cover... In all 5 colors...
I'll post the link in a few minutes...
By the way, why does xiaomi say the cover is not removable?
Its easier to remove than my previous lumia 625 which is quoted as removable.
And the battery is also removable. It's all good news!
Can I have link for back covers please I been looking everywhere!!!
Hi everyone
Regarding the link I'm just waiting for an answer, once I receive it i'll post it.
Regarding the reason why it is not available to all of us, it's easy... This phone hasnt yet been released in european market by xiaomi... so... There is no reason for them to release spare parts in europe for a model that was only released in China and India by xiaomi itself. We have a mi4c due to the resellers not due to xiaomi. And thats why its no so easy to find a cover to our phone.
So, to everyone like me that was Searching and could find nothing, here is the place se were looking for:
http://m.aliexpress.com/item/32520951859.html
I'm ordering mine today...
Finally! thanks
although I'm always cautious when ordering on aliexpress but since it's the only seller no choice I guess.
So if i will recieve the back cover (which i have just ordered) i am glad to finaly get the yellow mi4c i had ever wanted. Because the Shop where bought my phone only sold the white Version. Fingers crossed....
Mi4c (Tapatalk)
What will you use to take off the original cover? I saw Hugo Barra's video using a kind of plastic tool with a cusp...
i bought this one years before:
http://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B001GLZGEC?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_search_detailpage
and i will try the "blue" tools if needed. But it seems not to be necessary: see this Mi4c teardown
I believe this is the only place where se can get this at the moment... But with this phones popularity in no time there will be many more...
In my case, as I dont have any of those tools I just used my usual tool... A knife. It came out so easily that I dont understand why it says its not removable... No scratches... Cant wait for my gray cover to arrive...
can someone post a picture of the back of the phone without the cover? thanks
If someone gets the battery cover before me, let me know if it feels just like the original ones... I'll do the same if mine arrives first... Also ordered a slim armor case to protect when I receive it... Cant wait...
I'd love if the spare covers would be less slippery than original one; man, this thing is like a piece of soap!
Indeed... Until now mine hasnt fall yet... But for a few times it almost did... And each time that almost happens, my heart stops and even though it didnt fall I start saying some ugly words... Releasing the stress... Lool
---------- Post added at 10:47 AM ---------- Previous post was at 10:45 AM ----------
And I realized that my mi4c is gonna get gray... With a white sim card tray... Nice huh?!
Damn, are you serious? The spare cover doesn't include the SIM tray?

Question Who's Ordered, and why?

I have been watching the development of folding devices for a few years. I've decided to go for it, as the tech seems reliable this time. I like the idea of a more compact phone like the old Motorola V3.
Pre-ordered the 128GB Version in green.
What's your thoughts?
I will be, just deciding on the colour.
I had an original Z Flip and really liked it, but there were a couple of annoyances with it - namely the inside screens protector which got oily and grubby within seconds. I could have removed it, but there were concerns over voiding warranty at the time, and I didn't really want to chance it.
The external screen was also completely pointless, something else they have remedied this time round.
The only thing making me pause, is that I know I will want the Pixel 6 Pro when that launches, and the fact that Samsung haven't done anything to these cameras from the OG Flip.
Early photo samples seem 'ok', but I may wait for official reviews before fully committing.
Just preordered my wife the pink 256gb and myself the grey 256gb version.
We have S10s now that have been great but are ready to enter the flip phone arena. She is excited about using the camera from outside cover with the pic preview option as well as the flex mode for video calls.
I am excited about a compact phone to throw in my pocket and flex mode for video calls etc.
Kind of bummed out about the 3.5mm jack but just ordered some usb C to 3.5mm adapters on amazon should be good to go.
We have $100 credit each left via samsungs website....will probably get the clear ring case for my wife and maybe leather for me. Also interested to see what Spigen comes up with, I see on amazon you can already order their cases.

I've gone for a Naked skin from Slickwraps.
Thanks I will check that one out. I'll have 5 cases in before I even get the phone
Pretty crap they don’t include the case in the box like they did with the OG Fold.
I never really liked it, but it was handy when I was out and about and wanted that extra protection!
One that's compact yet powerful and is not "bar" type = Flip 3, so probably will get one.
With 120Hz display refresh rate and not so power efficient(!) SD888, the 3300 mAh battery might become a concern.
I have the green 256gb on pre order, looking foward to a flip phone again, fold 3 is to heavy.
Trading in a 8t, I'm sure the flip 3 will take better photos??
I am watching youtube vids on flip 3, some say camera concerns. We use sammy S10's right now for the past few years, flip 3 probably has drastically better camera then our S10?
Can't imagine Samsung would release a phone with subpar cameras. Obviously, not going to be the same standard as the S21 Ultra.
Good review below
ordered the cream 256GB. After using the note9 for 3 years I'm sick of large heavy phones.
I also really miss my starTac's from the 90's.
I would have bought the Flip2 5G but I need the IP rating as I do a lot of exercising/sweating with the phone.
My only concern is the wireless charging/NFC with a magentic mount such as scosche. I have wireless charging everywhere (car, bedroom, office, lounge, kitchen).. so battery life is not a concern.
Like the previous post, I've got tired of big heavy phones (currently Note10+) but also just looking forward to having something a bit different. Phones have got really samey and just not as much fun to own anymore. Hoping the flip 3 brings back the excitement of owning something a bit different, even if I will have to charge it every 5 min
my gf have the original flip, the first one. (hey, of course she want it, i'm the one that paid for it).
it' time to upgrade to flip3 since the more you fold/open/close the flip, the crease going to get worse.
i ordered the 256gb flip3 since it' the same price as the 128gb flip3 with the 50$ credits applied to 256gb flip3.
I got mine today works great, looking forward to root and ROMS!

Finally found the man who's responsible for companies making phones thinner and thinner before 2020, thus providing smaller and smaller batteries.
Pre-order grey 256GB and seem like next month only can get it here at Malaysia. I'm after the technology as Samsung said screen is 80% better than before. Camera seem not really superb but usable as daily use.

I'm doing the same. Got a OP8 5G through a tmobile promo half off so i only paid about $400 for it if I remember correctly. Now tmobile is giving me $1000 trade-in credit for it. The offer is just too good to pass up, even though I'm really going to miss my OP8

I think I must plead guilty, after years of giant phones I've genuinely had enough and am ready for a change

General Odd blanked out type of port on button side ???

So, got a 256 SD version yesterday, pretty soon noticed a type of blanked out port on the button side that i had not noticed on pics i had seen of the phone online.
Anyone know what it is and why it's not on 99% of the pics i see ??

This?
Probably has to do with the antenna.
No mate, can't you see my 2 images?
Its a 20x4mm section.
Mark it... that's why you got the big bad spen and screen write.
Likely an antenna.
It is a 5G mmwave band antenna
He probably means this, and i don't have that on my s22u at all. Others does have this?

That's an antenna I think. To verify watch a tear down vid of that model.
Makes you wonder if and if so how much it weakens the frame rail.

Yes after some google looks like some s22u has this and some others does not.
It is a cutout for 5g mmwave antena and probably yes, it could weaken the frame a bit or at least be a snapping point if the phone flexes too much. Just as antennas cutouts are.

Mine is a SD version from US, so maybe that's it??
US models have mmwave 5g, other regions phones dont have. You can see it only US phones.
Has nothing to do with 5G from what I actually understand (not all 5G phones have this cutout, even US mmwave ones N20U for example). It actually has to do with Ultra-wideband which is used for precise location detection. Not Verizon's stupidly named UWB 5G. Something similar first appeared on the iPhone 11 I think, when Apple decided to launch their Airtags or whatever they are called.
It allows the phone to detect other equally equipped devices or tags or whatever comes along in the future with much greater accuracy than before. So say you have a tag on your keys, the phone will show exactly where they are (the couch for example) instead of something like "within 5ft of you".

Thanks for the explanation, but it is still strange that this cutout is not seen on every models. Are all S22U compatible with ultra-wideband? Mine has the option, but no cutout.

Samsung is like a box of rabid gerbils; there's no rhythm or reason sometimes for their bizarre behavior...

The N20/N20U didn't have the cutout but was able to do UWB stuff. Glass isn't the greatest for allowing signal through, so my guess is it's a way to allow better signal now that they have tags and such.
It *could* be mmwave 5G, but everything I've read points at an actual UWB antenna. Mainly because not all mmwave phones have the cutout, and reading into the iPhone when the cutout first appeared (they say it's for their tags).
But yes, like BlackHawk said, Samsung does mysterious things for the different regions. If the features you need work, then I wouldn't worry about it too much. I just find it annoying it's probably a weak point in the frame, but I've sat on my phone without a case and no issues so...
EDIT:
So I was looking at teardown images and that antenna actually says mmW on it. So it does have to do with mmwave. The fact not every mmwave phone has the cutout but this does still makes me think it's at least something to do with the fact glass isn't the best for signal strength and they decided to do things this way.

Makes you wonder if Samsung IDed it as a potential weak spot then modified it.
You get the impression Samsung is in a big, bad hurry.
Samsung's last solid flagship release remains the N10+ in my opinion. Its stood the test of time very well for a phone... it's a beast.
It's sad to see Samsung degrade their flagship line yet their midrange line still has expandable storage. This inverted marketing devalues their flagships... and they know better but like a brat they just do what they want. Then they make up lame excuses rather then owe up to their screwups. I don't see much hope in Samsung nowadays.
Samsung's latest Buds+ successor failed to impress me as a replacement. Not sealed and with half the battery life. The noise cancelling at this price point will not be optimum so it will likely degrade the sound quality noticeably. Worse the latest firmware update for the Buds+ degraded the audio quality. Do Not update the firmware if you have a pair of Buds+ as firmware they are shipped with sounds better*. The firmware is a pain to rollback too.
wtf Sammy, you nuts?
*I did an extensive side by side comparison... not my imagination! The old version is slightly higher decibel, brighter, with a noticeably better sound stage (that may not be the right term for a sealed bud but that's how it sounds)!
Got one pair of Buds+ that needs the firmware rolled back now because of this.
