Ok so i am going to need a little bit of help here.
I the process of trying a method i found to apply the OTA update i forgot to do a nandroid backup.
I first pushed a recovery i thought was the stock one.
Then i locked the phone
then I pushed another recovery on top of it after the phone was locked.
The last step is preventing me in entering recovery.
Everytime i try to get in it comes back to the bootloader saying:
TAMPERED / RELOCKED / Security Warning.
As you can see, i screwed up.
What i am trying to accomplish though is do manually create a nandroid using ADB.
Now the problem i am having is that the tar command does not seem to preserve the sym links AND user/group.
the tar command i used was
tar -cvhf /sdcar/backup/system.ext4.tar /system
I am pretty trying to do the same thing as CWM recovery but from the command line.
How can i accomplish this?
Thanks a ton
well you cannot flash files with a relocked bootloader, So thats the reason you're having issues pushing recovery, Re-unlock the phone and try again.
And also, Stock recovery does not support nandroid backups. Flash CWM in fastboot, make a nandroid, Flash stock recovery, re-lock bootloader and all will be good.
**TAMPERED**
RELOCKED
Security Warning
Is normal when you have custom software on a locked device. Reverting to stock will clear this up
Oh and next time, Please post in the correct section, This belongs in Q&A.
Flame flame flame flame flame....

I will use the correct section. I promise.
I just thought that Q&A was just general questions about the phone.
Now, I would re-unlock it, but this creates a factory reset and erases everything which is what i am trying to avoid.
I am half screwed though since when i first unlocked it i did a nandroid backup.
So technically, i just need to tar up the /data folder.
Any idea on how to do this in my current state?
Just unlock it again via HTCdev. After it's unlocked download stock recovery. AFter that use the "fastboot flash recovery recovery.img" and then relock it. You will not have security warning. You get security warning after you lock bootloader but recovery is still custom. The newly locked bootloader signature checks recovery and gives you the *Security Warning*. Good luck
Edit: You do not need to erase anything. The only thing that erases all your stuff running an RUU or a different backup. All you need is stock recovery. Also if you don't flash recovery but you unlock bootloader also the security warning will be gone. easy.

I will unlock, and i've done it before. The problem is that unlocking resets to factory defaults meaning everything is erased.
I need to pretty much backup the data folder, then unlock, but without the recovery.
its a bit of a challenge.
But thanks though.
unlocking does not delete anything.

Well, it reset my data.
Fortunately everything I care about can be easily restored but if one uses Hasoon's all-in-one kit I can say that your data will be wiped. It won't touch the 'sdcard' data but all apps and settings will have to be restored.
shootind5nukes what method are you using to unlock that doesn't wipe?
So, no response on the magical method to unlock without wiping?

I figured, but i should have posted earlier the results of my experiment.
At the end, nothing would work.
I ended up wiping out everything and twice.
The first time, i installed the nandroid and radio and used Titanium backup to reinstall the apps.
Somehow, this method caused some issues and the battery would drain really fast.
I just reinstalled everything but this time by hand and redownloading everything from the market.
I recently posted the B136 EVA-L09 dload file in this topic, which a number of people are using to de-brand their UK devices on operators such as Vodafone.
If you do so, you end up on C900, which is a cross-flash version, which isn't safetynet certified (no Android Pay compatibility).
The solution to unlock your bootloader (using the official method or dc-unlocker), flash TWRP, flash this zip then reflash the dload file.
You'll then be on C432B136 and safetynet friendly.
oeminfo-huawei-p9-eval09-c432.zip - DOWNLOAD - MD5: f5b757f76f99e9c50555a6616802c41e
Enjoy!
P
Be warned that debranding your device fully will cause the phone to be wiped so you'll need to backup files first.
When flashing the B136 ROM after you have updated oeminfo, make sure you copy all files and folders to your sdcard.
It should look like this on your SD:
Code:
/dload/UPDATE.APP
/dload/dt/default/update_data_dt_default.app
/dload/hw/eu/update_data_hw_eu.app
/dload/hw/normal/update_data_hw_normal.app
If you just flash the UPDATE.APP then you'll end up with a broken /cust partition with incorrect icons, theming not working, etc.
EMUI recovery will flash UPDATE.APP then flash the dt, then hw updates after.
Once booted into Android, open the dialer then dial:
Code:
* # * # 2 8 4 6 5 7 9 # * # *
then tap 3. Network Information Query, Vendor Country Info. If OEMINFO was correctly updated then this will show
Code:
Vendor: hw
Country: eu
Now open Settings > About Phone. Build should be EVA-L09C432B136
If build is showing C900B136 and vendor country info showing Vodafone, you'll need to do a factory reset.
I installed this ZIP, once this is done it reseted my phone and even my bootloader locked again as originally (it was marked locked and relocked not as original. Probably a good zip has flashed before returning to service

Yes, flashing a stock rom will lock the bootloader again. This is normal. As long as you kept a copy of your unlock code then you can unlock your bootloader again.

I used Titanium Backup. I also used adb to pull the whole of /sdcard just to be on the safe side. You need to unlock the bootloader anyway to flash this zip file, so you may as well just root your device at the same time.
Sorry how do I gain root access? I suspect that's what I'm missing. Does unlocking the bootloader give you that by default?

No, you need to flash SuperSU as per http://forum.xda-developers.com/p9/how-to/guide-root-huawei-p9-t3367800
Ok Thankyou! In which case I guess I also have to unlock the boot loader and root *afterwards*, so I can then restore the backup? Thanks.

Hi guys
I have a dual sim Chinese EVA-ALOO P9 from Aliexpress. Worked out of the box fine, but with the heavy influences of Chinese in all the apps.
I've managed to unlock the Bootloader (re-lock it again when needed, install TWRP and remove it again etc)... I've tried every firmaware on the XDA threads (it just tells me its not compatible - so no firmware upgrades have been possible)
What I was able to do was apply this OEMINFO file and trick my P9 into thinking is a UK version.... although not quite. I seem to get a verification failure when trying to do a factory reset....
So am I correct in thinking, I just have to wait until the Chinese ROM is availble before I can reset everything back to the way it was, or how do I undo the OEMINFO update?
it's not a train smash if I have to wait, just being impatient as per normal
Thanks
what would happen, if I flash this OEMinfo over my EVA-AL10? same as with the AL00 or will it deny booting, because it has different hardware (4GB/64GB)?

Well, if you only want to bypass password you don't need to root or unlock your bootloader. Try to perform software repair via xperia companion. It should reset your phone by reinstalling software and wiping data.

There are 2 methots to install custom recovery:
1.(Best one) Downgrading to kitkat getting root and then recovery, but here's the problem: Downgrading requires to wipe data, which you don't want to do. So this isn't an option.
2. Unlocking the bootloader and flashing recovery. Problem: unlocking wipes your data and you lose DRM keys, so also not an option.
Sorry but I can't think of anything more.

It's not a flashable zip .-.
-your phone must be rooted and usb debugging enabled.
-extract the zip file "Z3-lockeddualrecovery2.8.26-RELEASE.combined.zip" to desktop or any other location on your PC/Laptop.
-run executable file "install.exe" and connect your phone... if you have SuperSu press 1 and enter.
now you have dual recovery mode
here's the main thread of dual recovery:

Unfortunately the only available options are these, all this is to protect your data and make them inaccessible to the thief if you get your phone stolen.
If you've forgot the password/pin/pattern of the lock screen, just perform a factory reset, it will wipe the data partition (apps and their data) but it won't touch your personal files such as music and photos

The user have been asking similar questions for other devices in the past. I suspect that the user may have stolen the phone and I do not think it's a good idea to provide further assistance to this user, as making it easier to use a possibly stolen phone is no good. If OP is any legit, he would know that he can restore the password using his Google account, and losing the password and recovery for 2 high-end devices at the same time is just fishy.. Just my 2 cents guys.

Someone else will have to verify as my OP6 is still shipping but..
YES, OnePlus 6 should still be able to go complete back to stock as it always has.
The same procedure as the 3, 3T, 5, 5T will likely follow:
if you flash a complete stock rom such as (this is a OP6 stock rom): androidfilehost.com/?fid=674106145207488340
then while booted into fastboot mode: fastboot oem lock
This is a standard procedure for OnePlus devices and I'll test it out once I get mine.
The rom i linked to is the stock rom, an OP moderator linked to it.
And the fastboot command is just a standard command. So unless they decide to screw their main audience this time around, :good:.

And the fastboot command is just a standard command. So unless they decide to screw their main audience this time around, :good:.

Why do you state this?
OP has already shared a link to a stock rom. And the lock/unlock bootloader command is a standard for their devices.

Things are missing in recovery. Im hoping they forgot vs take the feature out.

don't believe u can sideload OS anymore, yes we do have a fastboot mode to restore but u will have to have ur bootloader unlocked, if u have ur bootloader locked there is not way to put on OS on there due to twrp is not mountable and u cannot side load, so its not like other OP devices

Obviously you have to have you bootloader unlocked.
What are you trying to say? I can't follow your sentence structure. Please use proper English structure... or remotely proper...
You're claiming that with the OnePlus 6 you can no longer sideload roms? What??? That would be a HUGE slap in the face to us.
I wouldn't believe what this guy is saying.
I'm not claiming I factually know that the OP6 can be unlocked through that method but it is highly likely it is. As said, I'm still waiting on the OP6. If OnePlus doesn't allow these things, re-locking bootloader and sideloading, they're FU***** all of us over and I'm sure would suffer major backlash from the user base.

if all else fails we do have an unbrick tool, but from what i have read, u can no longer sideload with ur bootloader locked and there is not install from internal storage from stock recovery
I learned the hard way. Soft brick in the first hour of ownership.i thought I really broke something until eventually a few others reported on it. B
Op I would wait
I just relocked my bootloader with no issues. I uninstalled magisk through magisk manager, reboot to completely remove, then factory reset, boot into fastboot and relock. No issues. Note I didn't use twrp. I was still on stock bootloader.

Certain I did something wrong. But I tried the same thing initially and would bootloop to recovery after factory reset. Wasn't a biggie learned about the new a/b system in the process
Somewhat related question:
If you relock the bootloader, does Widevine go back to L1?
One user reported no. Is it really a permanent change of the Widevine status to unlock it?
I might be able to deal with 480p netflix, but if I sell this phone someday it sucks for the next owner.
No worry just try mega unbrick guide used it to relock bootloader and flash stock hydrogen os it can recover your device from even hardbrick I tested it for safety it works like charm so I recommend you that
Can anyone who has unlocked and re-locked their bootloader check their Widevine status in DRM info?
I have relocked because netflix quality was to low on when unlocked. When i relocked i got the drm lvl 1 back so it works

What's the procedure to re lock the bootloader and revert to stock recovery along with no root.
I unlocked the boot loader, installed TWRP and Magisk but would like to go back to stock. Any help will be appreciated

Reinstall your rom ( i believe 5.1.6 ) to get rid of TWRP & root
Factory reset
Then on fastboot " fastboot oem lock"
Data & internal storage will be wiped
Which means post following the steps origins bootloader will be locked and I will not get the warning again right at the start of the phone
All you can do is try but first make a Nandroid just in case this falls through
Hi, I want to lock my bootloader after recently unlocking it on my OP6 to install Oxygen OS as was originally on Hydrogen OS. If I use CMD and type fastboot oem lock, what are the risks of the phone going into a boot loop, and also, does the factory reset revert the phone back to Hydrogen OS? Cheers.

Lock as you unlocked in cmd by typing lock instead of unlock. It will make a wipe, so I recommend make backup before.
I want to install some apps as system files but I don't have a PC to root the phone . Is there anyway to do this or am I sol? I have the T-Mobile version .thanks
No, you can't modify your system partition w/o root.

Thanks . I want to root my phone but no ability to
To root your phone you either need a PC or a another rooted phone.
Or, you could use TWRP or adb push to move the apps into /system/app/ or, in some cases, to /system/priv-app/. That's how I've done it since M, although I've never tried it with a locked bootloader, nor without root, but recovery doesn't need root to change the system, or rather, recovery has system root.
EDIT: You could unlock the bootloader and TWRP it with a friend's computer maybe?
Honestly, to have this phone without a computer would be torture. I feel for you.
Do you really know what "root" means??

No, he can't!!
TWRP = /recovery
That is a partition and to overwrite a partition the bootloader needs to be unlocked! What else should be the reason for unlocking it?? And you can't modify system w/o root even you use adb!

I kinda do, and TWRP has root even if system doesn't.

Right. adb can't without root, but I'm pretty damned sure TWRP can. Recoveries are made for changing the system. That's their purpose.
Again...

I know that a recovery is user root but he can't use it.
@WoKoschekk, only because he doesn't have it. He asked if you could make system apps without root. Yes you can. With TWRP..

His bootloader is locked and he has no PC to unlock it. He asks for a workaround in that case.
The answer of his question is still "no".

You need a PC or another phone with root to unlock the bootloader. When bootloader is unlocked you can do further steps with your own phone and without a PC.
---------- Post added at 08:00 PM ---------- Previous post was at 07:54 PM ----------
The only way to unlock the bootloader is via fastboot oem commands. Fastboot tools require a Windows/Linux OS or a rooted phone to install the fastboot ARM binaries in /system/bin to use them in the Terminal shell of Android. To copy the binaries into /system/bin you need root because you need the permission to write on the /system partition.
So, ask a friend with a PC or a rooted phone.
Does it matter if the G7 power is contract or not with tmobile? I seen online that it could be a huge factor in it being a successful root

Motorola has the bootloader unlock process online.
Shouldn't take more then 10 minutes.

Anyway you need physical access to the device to unlock the bootloader. The online service will only provide the unlock code which must be entered via fastboit commandline. Motorola won't unlock the bootloader online, that's not possible!
